Padilla just too much for Suzuki
A week after turning back more celebrated rivals, Tristan Padilla on Wednesday nailed down a second straight boys’ 15-18 title in the Junior PGT, but this came in a more authoritative manner that left no doubt the first one wasn’t a fluke.
Closing out with a two-under-par 70, the 17-year-old playing out of Manila Southwoods in Carmona tallied a 54-hole 212 for a staggering 16-shot victory in the ICTSI Splendido Hills Championship over Philippine team mainstay Shinichi Suzuki.
Padilla, though, wants to keep getting better.
“There’s still a lot of room for improvement, and I’ll keep working on that,” said Padilla, a De La Salle-Zobel student who crashed the John Hay party in Baguio last week, where Suzuki and US school recruit Charles Serdenia were supposed to dominate.
“These back-to-back wins show that I can compete at a high level. I’ve been focusing on making the most of every opportunity, and that’s really helped me these past two weeks.”
Lisa Sarines also waltzed her way to a convincing win with a final round 69, good for an 18-shot win over twin sister Mona that avenged a stinging lopsided defeat last week at John Hay in Baguio.
It was the second victory in the circuit this year for Lisa, but despite that, she has thrown caution to the girls’ 15-18 division that she’s far from being satisfied.
“This isn’t the best I can be yet. I’m always working to get better every day, every round,” said Lisa Sarines. “This win means a lot because it boosts my confidence.”

Lukas Dostal, Ducks shut down Knights, head home with series 1-1
May 6, 2026; Las Vegas, Nevada, USA; Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Carter Hart (79) makes a save as Anaheim Ducks center Ryan Poehling (25) looks for a rebound behind defenseman Noah Hanifin (15) during the second period of game two of the second round of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs at T-Mobile Arena. Mandatory Credit: Stephen R. Sylvanie-Imagn Images Lukas Dostal made 22 saves while leading the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-1 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday in Las Vegas, evening their best-of-seven Western Conference second-round playoff series at one win each.
Beckett Sennecke, Leo Carlsson and Jansen Harkins scored for the Ducks.
The series now shifts to Anaheim for Game 3 on Friday and Game 4 on Sunday.
Mark Stone scored a late power-play goal and Carter Hart finished with 25 saves for Vegas, which lost in regulation at home to the Ducks for only the fourth time (16-4-1) in franchise history.
Vegas killed off eight minutes of penalties in the first half of a scoreless opening period, including 1:37 of a 5-on-3 after Jack Eichel picked up a four-minute double minor for high-sticking Mikael Granlund.
The Ducks, who scored on eight of their 16 power-plays chances while defeating the Edmonton Oilers in six games in their first round matchup, have yet to score with the extra man in the series against the Golden Knights. Anaheim is now 0-for-9 on the power play.
Anaheim took a 1-0 lead midway through the second period on Sennecke’s second goal of the playoffs. Jeffrey Viel picked up the primary assist, stealing the puck from Vegas defenseman Kaedan Korczak along the boards behind the net and then passing to Sennecke in the low slot. The Calder Trophy finalist for rookie of the year, who scored 23 goals in the regular-season, then chipped a shot past Hart’s glove side.
The Ducks extended the lead to 2-0 at the 6:36 mark of the third period on Carlsson’s fourth goal of the playoffs. Troy Terry set up the score with a crossing pass from the left circle to Carlsson alone on the backdoor by the right post. Carlsson then roofed a wrist shot past Hart’s glove side. Vegas pulled Hart with four minutes remaining for an extra attacker and Harkins sealed the win with an empty-netter thirty seconds later, his first goal since New Year’s Eve against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Golden Knights spoiled Dostal’s shutout bid with just 5.6 seconds on to go when Stone redirected a Eichel shot from along the right boards for his third goal of the playoffs.

Randy Moss Has Some Thoughts on Kyler Murray
Hall of Famer Randy Moss stays up to speed on all things Minnesota Vikings, the team that drafted him in 1998, and he recently revealed his freshest takes on the club’s new quarterback, Kyler Murray. In short, Moss thinks Murray will cook in Minnesota, especially with Justin Jefferson at his side.
Training camp is still ahead, but optimism around Murray keeps building inside Vikings orbit.
The regular season is four months away, so it’s not long before Murray will start to deliver a verdict.
Moss Sees Murray as Minnesota’s Missing Piece
Do you agree with Moss that Murray will be unlocked in the Twin Cities?
Moss on Murray
Speaking to Bleacher Report, Moss opined, “I’ve always rooted for Minnesota. When you look at the success of the team, either good or bad, it has been because of the quarterback play. You had Sam Darnold, you had Daniel Jones. But you go with the youngster McCarthy, and he was not able to provide that answer, so you had to go out and get a guy like Kyler Murray.”
“What I’m excited about is the opportunity in front of Kyler Murray. He’s got a great wide receiver in Justin Jefferson, who now can try to regain his dominance as the No. 1 wide receiver in all of football. Kyler Murray also has something to prove.”
When Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell has his starting quarterback — Kirk Cousins in 2022 or Sam Darnold in 2024 — his team has won at least 13 games in a season. If injuries emerge and quarterback instability ensues, Minnesota morphs into a middling-to-decent squad.
Moss added on Murray, “He was the future of the Arizona Cardinals, but they basically threw him away. If he’s able to deliver the ball to Justin Jefferson, everything else with the defense and every other weapon will be fine.”
“But all eyes will be on whether he can do that so they both can regain their dominance.”
How Murray Got Here
The Arizona Cardinals drafted Murray in 2019 with the first overall pick, replacing quarterback Josh Rosen, who had been selected in Round 1 the previous year. Murray would later stabilize the Cardinals’ QB1 spot for seven years while the franchise posted no playoff wins.
Fast forward to the 2026 offseason, and the Cardinals fired head coach Jonathan Gannon, hiring Mike LaFleur as his replacement. The Cardinals’ brass decided it was time for a fresh start at quarterback, and with Arizona possessing virtually no trade leverage over Murray, they released him in March.
Then, it became a no-brainer that Murray would sign in Minnesota — the Vikings needed a quarterback to compete with J.J. McCarthy, and Murray was a Vikings fan as a kid.
In the end, Arizona will pay Murray to play for the Vikings, as Minnesota signed him to a deal worth $1.3 million for one year.
A Subtle Reversal from Moss?
Moss’s endorsement of Murray is a slight reversal of his previous comments about the Vikings’ offense. Ex-NFLer Alex Smith picked Moss’s brain on ESPN airwaves in December, asking him if wide receiver Justin Jefferson should stick around for the long haul if McCarthy’s development took longer than expected, and Moss said to Smith, “I wouldn’t. I would not.”
Fans would’ve expected Moss to tell Jefferson to have patience, but he point-blank said he’d find a way out if the decision were up to him. Five months later, Moss is hyped about Murray and the upcoming chemistry with Jefferson.
In Moss’s defense, he had no way of knowing at the time that the Vikings landing Murray for the NFL’s version of free would be in play during the offseason.
McCarthy as a Fallback
If, for some reason, Murray does not take off inside O’Connell’s offense or if he gets hurt — Murray has missed 26% of all career starts due to various injuries — McCarthy will be ready. He’s used the 2026 offseason to hone his mechanics, eat humble pie with Murray’s arrival, and follow a natural maturation pattern.
It’s an underrated 2026 storyline for Minnesota: Will McCarthy be ready to seize the moment when Murray exits the lineup (for whatever reason), or will he still feature his erratic play, intermixed with a bizarre tendency to get injured?
The Vikings’ best-case scenario might be for McCarthy to develop as planned. That is — when O’Connell calls upon him in 2026, he steps into the huddle and looks the part of an accurate and productive signal-caller.
Until then, Moss has big plans for Murray to explode in the Twin Cities. He thinks the Vikings are on to something.

Mike Tyson speaks out on status of Floyd Mayweather fight
Questions remain over whether the Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather exhibition will indeed still go ahead.
It was announced late last year that Tyson and Mayweather were set to take part in an exhibition contest in early 2026, bringing together two of boxing’s biggest names together.
Since that initial announcement, a lot of twists and turns have led to confusion over whether the bout will actually take place, with a planned April date already coming and going.
Mayweather revealed he was set for two other fights this year, first a June exhibition with kickboxer Mike Zambidis, before a planned professional rematcg with former foe Manny Pacquiao, and while there are also doubts over those match-ups, it adds to the issue on if there is time for a Tyson battle.
However, Tyson has now refused to rule out the bout being completely off, telling Casino.org that even though there are certain things he can not discuss, he still finds the possibility of facing Mayweather as an ‘interesting’ one.
“There’s not much I can talk on, but it’s pretty interesting. I’m just happy that I’m in the condition I’m in to be able to do this to the degree that I can.”
Fans may take the vague update as a signal that behind the scenes the bout may not be going ahead, particularly given the simultaneous drama with the Pacquiao event, which Mayweather has cast doubt on by saying it is an exhibition rather than a pro bout – something the Filipino’s team have denied.
Tyson announced earlier this year that he had suffered a hand injury during training that may have played a part in the delay to a Mayweather fight, but with that now seemingly behind him, he also confirmed his interest in competing against others.
“I don’t know when [I’ll stop fighting]. I only think of it when somebody brings me a check. I can think of a lot of people (I want to fight).”
Tyson last fought in November 2024 in a controversial contest with Jake Paul. ‘The Problem Child’ claimed a comfortable points win, but ‘Iron Mike’ looked a shadow of his former ruthless self, so many fans would perhaps like to see him retire for good.

Spurs rebound to hand Timberwolves largest post-season defeat, tie series 1-1
SAN ANTONIO — Victor Wembanyama had 19 points and 15 rebounds, and the San Antonio Spurs handed Minnesota the worst postseason loss in franchise history, beating the Timberwolves 133-95 on Wednesday night to even their Western Conference semifinal series at one game apiece.
Stephon Castle had 21 points and De’Aaron Fox added 16 points for San Antonio, which shot 50 per cent from the field and 41 per cent on three-pointers. It was the highest-scoring playoff game for the Spurs since a series-clinching 145-105 win over Denver on May 4, 1983.
Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle, Jaden McDaniels and Terrence Shannon Jr. each scored 12 points for Minnesota.
Edwards came off the bench again as Minnesota continued to restrict his minutes in his second game back from a hyperextended left knee.
Games 3 and 4 are Friday and Sunday in Minneapolis.
With Wembanyama playing more aggressively on offence from the outset, the Spurs put the series-opening loss behind them quickly.
Minnesota’s previous largest postseason defeat was by 30 points to the Los Angeles Lakers on April 29, 2003.
Only the margin of victory was in doubt Monday as both teams sent their starters to the bench with 10 minutes remaining and the Spurs leading 104-66.
After combining to score 21 points on 10-for-31 shooting in Game 1, Wembanyama and Fox combined to go 12 of 25 from the field Wednesday.
The All-Star duo scored the Spurs’ first 11 points as they raced to a 29-point lead in the first half.
The Spurs missed their first three shots, but Wembanyama followed the third attempt by flying through the lane and throwing down a right-handed dunk to open the scoring.
Minnesota was held to 35 points in the first half. The Timberwolves shot 29.8 per cent from the field before halftime and were 2 for 15 on three-pointers as they fell behind by 25 points.
Spurs rookie Carter Bryant soared for a two-handed slam for his first points of the series and Wembanyama followed with a 3-pointer for a 43-26 lead midway through the second quarter.
Back-to-back slams by Dylan Harper and Castle were part of a 11-0 run that extended the advantage to 59-34.
San Antonio has not lost consecutive games since falling at Minnesota and Oklahoma City in mid-January.

CSK Legend Suresh Raina Picks 2 Favourites To Win IPL 2026 Title, Leaves Out Punjab Kings
Former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) cricketer Suresh Raina backed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to defend their Indian Premier League (IPL) title in 2026, praising the way the Bengaluru-based franchise has played so far in the tournament. RCB, who won their maiden IPL title in 2025, have played excellent cricket in the 2026 season so far. They are currently positioned second on the IPL 2026 points table with six wins in nine matches. Speaking on JioHotstar, Suresh Raina said that he believes the Royal Challengers Bengaluru have the strongest chance to defend their IPL title, praising their balanced team effort, clear roles in the batting lineup and strong captaincy from Rajat Patidar.
“I feel RCB can defend their title. The way they are playing, and how their bowling unit is operating, with captain Rajat Patidar leading from the front, has been impressive. It is not just about scoring big 240-250 totals; everyone in the batting unit understands their roles,” he said.
Raina said that the Rajasthan Royals (RR) also have a good chance of winning the ongoing IPL edition. He noted that they are playing an exciting brand of cricket with young talent like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Riyan Parag, and contributions from Jofra Archer and Ravi Bishnoi.
RR are placed fourth on the IPL 2026 points table with six wins in 10 matches.
“After them, I feel Rajasthan Royals are doing a few things right, 18 years after their first title. You start with their fearless opener, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Jofra Archer with the new ball, Ravi Bishnoi in the middle, and Riyan Parag leading the side. It is a young team, but they are playing a very watchable brand of cricket,” said Raina.
Raina also acknowledged the Gujarat Titans, who are fifth on the IPL 2026 points table with six wins in 10 matches, as strong contenders, highlighting the good form of spinner Rashid Khan in the recent games and good batting from captain Shubman Gill, but still tipped RCB as favourites overall.
“Then there are also the Gujarat Titans, who are peaking at the right time. Rashid Khan has had a couple of good games, and Shubman Gill is playing with a higher strike rate. But I feel RCB has the biggest chance,” Raina said.

PSG produce measured sequel to set up intriguing Arsenal clash in Champions League final
Paris Saint-Germain will play Arsenal in the Champions League final after they drew 1-1 with Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena to seal a 6-5 aggregate semi-final victory.
After the astonishing first leg in Paris a week ago that saw the European champions triumph by the odd goal in nine, this was a more measured but no less fascinating affair, Ousmane Dembele’s goal in the third minute giving the visitors a two-goal advantage in the tie.
At that stage it looked like another explosive night of attacking fluidity was in store, but Bayern could not rediscover the threat that saw them reel PSG in from 5-2 to 5-4 in the Parc des Princes.
Harry Kane scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to set up a nervous finale, but Bayern had left themselves insufficient time to seriously unsettle the visitors from Paris.
Luis Enrique’s side had been the team that had looked likeliest to add to their tally and put the semi-final beyond all doubt, Manuel Neuer performing heroics to just about keep Bayern’s hopes alive until the end.
In the end, the holders needed nothing further in order to book their place alongside Mikel Arteta’s side in Budapest on 30 May.

They had opened up a two-goal lead in the tie inside three minutes of the return. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia raced into space down the left and looked up to see Dembele arriving in the box. The Georgian playmaker pulled the ball back for Dembele to race onto and hammer a finish first-time into the roof of the net.
Bayern were furious not to have been awarded a penalty midway through the half. Goalkeeper Matvei Safonov made an uncertain punch and the ball landed with Vitinha, who in attempting to clear slammed the ball against the arm of teammate Joao Neves. As it was another PSG player that had made the clearance, it was not deemed to be handball despite Neves’s arm being well away from his body.
Neves then drew a wonderful save from Manuel Neuer, who threw himself low across goal to tip away the midfielder’s header. Jonathan Tah headed wide from a free-kick in the final minute of the half, a rare Bayern chance in the first period.

At the start of the second half, Neuer saved twice in quick succession from Desire Doue and Kvaratskhelia. Doue tried again soon after with a low drive that brought the best stop yet from the Bayern goalkeeper.
The hosts came close again through Luis Diaz who was denied by Safonov but PSG were carrying the greater threat. Doue blasted an effort inches wide of the post with Neuer beaten as the European champions looked to seal it.
Kvaratskhelia brushed past Bayern’s defence and bore down on goal but badly missed his kick, with the goal and tie at his mercy. Kane finally found space inside the box to lash a finish into the roof of the net deep in stoppage time, but a famous fightback was not to be.

Tanzania Eyes Drogba as Ambassador for 2027 AFCON
The Tanzanian government is considering appointing former Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba as an ambassador for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations as preparations continue for the continental tournament.
The plan is reportedly being championed by Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who wants to use Drogba’s global football influence to promote the competition and attract more international attention ahead of the tournament.
Drogba recently visited Tanzania at the invitation of the country’s sports authorities, where discussions were held on ways to improve the image, promotion and commercial value of the 2027 AFCON.
Tanzania will host the competition alongside Kenya and Uganda in what will be a historic joint hosting of Africa’s biggest football event in the East African region.
The possible appointment of Drogba is viewed as an important part of the host nations’ strategy to raise the profile of the tournament both within Africa and internationally.
Drogba remains one of Africa’s most celebrated football figures. During his playing career, the former striker became a legend at Chelsea FC, where he won several major trophies, including four Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2012.
The former forward was widely praised for his leadership, strength and goalscoring ability during his time in England. He scored more than 160 goals for Chelsea and established himself as one of the club’s greatest players.
At international level, Drogba captained Ivory Coast national football team and played a major role in helping the Elephants qualify for several FIFA World Cups and Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
Beyond football, Drogba has also earned respect for his humanitarian work and efforts to promote peace in Ivory Coast during periods of political tension in the country.
Officials believe his popularity, leadership experience and strong connection with African football could help bring more global attention to the 2027 AFCON.
The 2027 tournament is expected to be one of the biggest editions of the competition, with East Africa preparing to welcome teams and supporters from across the continent and beyond.
