Power Of Manifestation: How Praful Hinge Planned To Dismiss Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Talk about manifestation, and Praful Hinge‘s dream IPL debut on Monday will now stand as a shining example. Playing his first IPL match for Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Vidarbha bowler picked up 4/34 against Rajasthan Royals, with three of those wickets coming in the first over. Hinge is now the first bowler in the 19-year history of the IPL to take three wickets in the opening over of a match. His final figures are also the second-best by an Indian debutant in IPL history.

Hinge ran through RR’s in-form top order in a stunning opening spell of 2-0-6-4, which paved the way for SRH’s emphatic 57-run victory and handed Rajasthan their first defeat in five matches.

“I had written this somewhere – that I will take four to five wickets on my debut. I thought of dominating the powerplay. I believe in it (manifestation),” Hinge told the broadcaster after the match.

“At the age of 13, I started playing cricket. I didn’t know what leather-ball cricket was. I asked my father to enroll me in a club, but he said I was too young. Then he just took me there, and I kept playing after that. I want to dedicate this award to my family.”

Hinge’s three-wicket burst in the first over effectively dismantled the table-toppers’ chase of 217 before it even began. The pacer revealed that he had already planned the dismissal of RR’s young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi with a bouncer.

“Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s wicket was the best. He is in form. I had told a few people, main isko pehle ball pe bouncer daalke out karunga (I’ll bowl a bouncer to him and get him out on the first ball). Or even if it’s any ball, I just wanted to get him out first ball. Varun Aaron (our bowling coach) helped me plan it, so thank you,” he said.

Hinge’s four-wicket haul was complemented by an impressive spell from fellow debutant pacer Sakib Hussain, who returned figures of 4/24.

“Every player hopes for a debut like this, so it feels really good. I’m very happy. The SRH bowling coach informed me a day before the game that I would be playing. From then on, my focus was simply on performing well. Mentally, I prepared myself to give my best,” Hussain said.

“Varun (Aaron) bhai has been working with me for the past four years. Whatever improvement you see in my bowling is because of him. I give him full credit. It felt amazing – having such a performance on debut is very special,” he added.

NFL analyst gives clear verdict on Patrick Mahomes amid Chiefs QB’s rehab from torn ACL

Published

on

Patrick Mahomes finds himself learning fresh lessons as he heads into an age 31 season. Coming off the oft-dreaded late-season ACL tear in 2025, Mahomes is under pressure to be ready for Week 1. Not only that, but opponents will push him into testing what will be his recently-healed knee. In the moment, Mahomes will be forced to choose between risking his health or not.

In a Monday Pro Football Talk post, NFL analyst Mike Florio expressed his opinion that Mahomes would not take it easy on the gridiron, even if it is in his best interest in the long term.

“Limitations don’t matter,” Florio said. “Restrictions don’t matter. Nothing is going to stop Patrick Mahomes from playing. The moment he thinks he’s good to go, he will do everything in his power to get on the field and play the game the way he always has. He does not reside in his fears. He will embrace the risk of a potential injury.

“He is not going to sacrifice a season of football worrying about an injury that would sacrifice a season of football. So when he’s back in uniform and you see him on the field, don’t worry about Patrick Mahomes because he won’t be. He’ll go out there and do everything that we’ve always seen him do the moment he’s ready to go.”

Mahomes finished his 2025 campaign with a 6-8 record, the worst winning percentage of his career. Following the downturn and in wake of the injury, the Chiefs picked up some new quarterbacks in case they are needed to start the season.

While the Chiefs decided to keep Chris Oladokun on the roster for the moment heading into 2026, the team’s moves suggest that the franchise has chosen to avoid putting everything on Mahomes’ recovery going perfectly. The Chiefs welcomed Justin Fields, a quarterback with a record of starting games (15 starts since the start of 2024) to back Mahomes.

Fields has thrown 12 touchdowns and two interceptions since he left the Chicago Bears after the 2023 season.

The Chiefs also spent a draft pick on a quarterback in the 2026 NFL draft in the form of Garrett Nussmeier, who was taken in the seventh round at pick No. 249. Nussmeier threw for 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2024. Put simply, the Chiefs have taken steps in case Mahomes is not ready or in case (as Mike Florio alluded to) he puts himself in one too many dangerous situations too soon.
