Mikaela Shiffrin returned to the top of the podium in the alpine skiing women’s slalom event on Wednesday at the Winter Olympics.

As she awaited her moment, her coach told her to “rip this thing.” She certainly did.

Shiffrin recorded a total time of 1:39.10 after going down the hill with a time of 47.13 on her first run and 51.97 on her second. She catapulted herself to gold medal position and added to Team USA’s medal total.

After a disastrous run in the 2022 Beijing Games, Shiffrin was able to keep her composure and deliver an incredible run to grab the gold. But she had to wait a few agonizing seconds as the two competitors ahead of her failed to make it through the course.

Shiffrin locked in and even gained time on her competitors in portions of the course. She bent down in almost disbelief realizing the incredible moment she made.

It wasn’t that long ago when Shiffrin had a shocking outing in the 2022 Games where she didn’t make the podium in any of the alpine skiing events despite being considered one of the greatest of all time in her sport. Now, she can call herself a three-time gold medalist.

She’s the second Olympic skier to win gold twice in the event.

Michigan’s stranglehold on the No. 1 overall seed tightened Tuesday night when the Wolverines toppled Purdue 91-80 on the road. A Wolverine loss could have made the discussion for the top spot in the bracket a lot more intriguing ahead of the NCAA Tournament selection committee’s bracket preview on Saturday. 

But this cemented in stone that Michigan is the top dog. The Wolverines are now 10-0 in Quad 1, 19-1 across the first two quadrants, and rate as the No. 1 team across the board in metrics used by the selection committee.

With a 10.55 WAB (Wins Above Bubble) score, Michigan has a commanding lead over second-place Duke (9.25) in that vital resume-based metric. At KenPom, the Wolverines possess a 39.33 Net Rating, which is even higher than the rating of last year’s historically great Duke team.

But of course, everything could change on Saturday. Just a few hours after the bracket preview, the No. 1 Wolverines and No. 3 Duke will square off on a neutral court in Washington, D.C. It’s a huge spot for the Blue Devils, who will get a chance to halt the crowning of Michigan and show the country that it’s a serious factor in the race to be the No. 1 overall seed.

For now, it’s the Wolverines’ world. Here is a look at the top seeds in today’s Bracketology update.

Nebraska’s slide

Regardless of what happens from here, it’s been an incredible ride for Nebraska basketball this season. The Cornhuskers started 20-0, rose to No. 5 in the AP poll while slaying high-powered foes like Illinois and Michigan State and are well-positioned to win an NCAA Tournament game for the first time in program history. But as Selection Sunday creeps closer, the Cornhuskers are moving in the wrong direction within the CBS Sports Bracketology model. After Tuesday night’s 57-52 loss at Iowa, Nebraska has dropped four of its past six games and is now a No. 4 seed.

All hope for a rise back up the seeding list is not lost for Nebraska, which remains an impressive 11-4 across Quads 1 and 2. But none of its final five regular-season games are “marquee” matchups. In fact, the next two are landmine home games against Big Ten bottom feeders Penn State and Maryland that can do little to bolster the Cornhuskers’ resume. Then comes a tricky west coast trip to USC and UCLA, both of whom are going to be fighting for their spots as at-large teams in the field of 68. On the upside, avoiding the Big Ten’s best teams down the stretch could give the Cornhuskers a chance to rediscover the gear that carried them to a historic start that made this season such a memorable ride.

Rematch rules

Amid conference consolidation and the proliferation of nonconference matchups between high-major schools, the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee faces challenges when it comes to avoiding regular-season rematches. The 2025 NCAA Tournament bracket featured three potential second-round games between conference teams, although none of them came to fruition. 

The committee will still seek to minimize conference meetings and nonconference rematches, and our model is coded to do the same. However, NCAA bracketing principles permit games between conference teams in the second round, so long as the teams in question played each other just once before the NCAA Tournament. For conference teams that met twice prior to the NCAA Tournament, principles state they should not meet prior to the Sweet 16. If the teams played three times, NCAA bracketing principles state they should not play before the Elite Eight.

With regard to rematches of nonconference games, NCAA bracketing principles state that they should be avoided “in the First Four and first round.” The committee will also “attempt to avoid” nonconference rematches in the second round. But the committee has historically prioritized keeping teams on their natural seed line over changing their seed line for the sake of avoiding a rematch.

Rashford has revived his flagging career since joining the Spanish giants on loan last summer. He has scored 10 goals in 35 appearances and won back his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.

United believe Rashford’s value is now closer to £50m – and know several other clubs are interested in signing him this summer. But United agreed to give Barca first option to sign him for no more than £26m when the loan deal was struck between the two clubs.

It’s understood some senior figures at United have been left frustrated by the terms of the agreement. And with Rashford desperate to make his move to the Nou Camp permanent, Barca could look to exploit this by attempting to negotiate an even lower price for the forward.

There have been suggestions interim boss Michael Carrick would like to have Rashford back at United. But there is no recall clause in the loan deal, meaning he couldn’t go back to United even if all parties wanted him to. United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains keen to get Rashford off the club’s wage bill.

But he is not looking forward to the prospect of allowing Barca to land the 28-year-old on the cheap. While Rashford was one of United’s highest-paid stars, he is only the sixth biggest earner in the Barca squad.

And it’s understood Barca boss Hansi Flick is keen to keep Rashford long term. Rashford has bought a luxurious apartment in the affluent suburb of Esplugues with views of the Collserola mountains, and is said to be loving life in Catalonia.

His £15m-a-year contract with United runs until 2028. But Rashford has told those close to him he has no intention of ever returning to his hometown club, having made the difficult decision to take his career elsewhere.

Rashford is expected to be included in Tuchel’s final squad for this summer’s World Cup in North America.

India opener Abhishek Sharma might be asking himself as he was again dismissed for zero and failed to score even a single run in the last group-stage match of the T20 World Cup against the Netherlands on Wednesday. The left-handed batter was bowled on the third ball of the first over by Dutch off-spinner Aryan Dutt.Dutt pitched the ball at the back of a length on the middle and off stump, and it skidded in with the angle. Abhishek had a wild swipe at it, which was perhaps coming after the two dots, but missed it completely, and the ball hits the leg stump.

This was the third duck in a row for Abhishek in the T20 World Cup. The southpaw has endured a difficult T20 World Cup campaign so far. He began with a golden duck against the USA in India’s opening match and was later hospitalised in New Delhi due to a stomach infection, which ruled him out of the clash against Namibia. The last time Scottie Scheffler played the Gensis Invitational at Riviera, he had only one major win to his name. A lot has changed since then, for Scheffler and the tournament.

One year after wildfires in Los Angeles forced organizers to move the 2025 event to Torrey Pines, the event returns to its longtime home in L.A., with its host Tiger Woods in tow.

Scheffler finished T10 at the 2024 Genesis at Riviera and since then has captured three more major victories and a boatload of PGA Tour wins, cementing his place at the top of the Official World Golf Ranking.

He’s yet to finish outside the top-4 this season, and at Riviera the World No. 1 will be vying for his second victory of 2026, along with its $4 million winner’s prize thanks to its status as a Signature Event.

Scheffler tees off for the opening round of the Genesis on Thursday at 2:37 p.m. ET alongside Xander Schauffele and Si Woo Kim.

He was in The Expendables 3 and the comedy-horror series Scream Queens, which led to recognition for roles in Everybody Wants Some!! and Set It Up. 2) Margaret Qualley as Julia Steinway

Margaret Qualley takes on the role of Julia Steinway, the Becket’s friend from childhood. She is the daughter of actress Andie MacDowell. Before she started acting, Qualley trained as a ballerina. In Palo Alto, she made her screen debut and got attention mostly for her performance in HBO’s The Leftovers.

Among her works are The Nice Guys, Death Note, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She was nominated for Emmys for Fosse/Verdon and for her main role in Netflix’s Maid, the latter also got her a Golden Globe nomination.

Jessica Henwick plays the part of Ruth, Becket’s girlfriend, in How to Make a Killing. Henwick made her debut on the acting scene in 2010 and has since been well-known for her characters in Game of Thrones, Marvel’s Iron Fist and The Defenders.

She is also one of the stars of big-budget movies like The Matrix Resurrections, The Gray Man, and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Along with acting, Henwick has ventured into writing and directing. Her short film Bus Girl, which was filmed during a break in the production, was nominated for a BAFTA. In 2023, she was praised for her role in The Royal Hotel.

4) Bill Camp as Warren Redfellow

How to Make a Killing features Bill Camp as Warren Redfellow, the uncle of Becket. This role is just one of the many that Camp has done for film, television, and theater. Some of his film credits include Lincoln, 12 Years a Slave, Loving, Molly’s Game, and Joker.

On the small screen, he has played roles in The Night Of, The Outsider, and The Queen’s Gambit. Bill Camp has been nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards, his roles in The Night Of and Presumed Innocent being the reason for the nominations. 5) Zach Woods as Noah Redfellow
