Importantly, the issue has been diagnosed as far less severe than some early reports suggested, with the club adding: “The issue that caused his withdrawal has now been confirmed as a minor muscle injury.”

Perfect timing for Liverpool and Salah
There had been outside claims suggesting a longer absence, with some reports even hinting at a potential four-week lay-off, but this official update firmly puts those fears to bed.
The 33-year-old attacker is now expected to feature again before the campaign concludes, with the statement confirming: “It is, however, anticipated Salah will return to action ahead of 2025-26’s conclusion and his departure from the Reds this summer.”

April 29, 2026 LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The post-position draw for the Kentucky Derby is one of the few times in thoroughbred racing when getting first is not something to celebrate.
Last Saturday, during the draw for this Saturday’s 152nd running of the race at Churchill Downs, that distinction went to Renegade.
Despite the ominous spot for Renegade, Churchill Downs’ morning-line oddsmaker Nick Tammaro still set the 3-year-old colt as his early 4-1 favorite for the 1-1/4-mile race that serves as the start of racing’s Triple Crown.
Drawing the inside post means Renegade will be the horse closest to the rail. While he would have the shortest path to the finish line, he will also have to avoid getting pinched along the rail as up to 19 competitors try to move in at the start.
The last horse to win from the No. 1 post position was Ferdinand in 1986, the last Derby win for legendary jockey Bill Shoemaker.
As for Renegade, the horse trained by Todd Pletcher has never finished out of the money in five starts. After placing twice and showing once in his 2-year-old campaign, Renegade has won both starts this year, including the Arkansas Derby a month ago.
Another horse seeking to buck a trend is Emerging Market. Trainer Chad Brown’s horse, who has morning-line odds of 15-1, won the Louisiana Derby in just his second start. However, the last horse to win the Kentucky Derby in just a third start was Leonatus in 1883.
Brown, though, thinks his colt can end that 143-year streak.
“He has such a wonderful mind and is so calm and collected,” said Brown, whose entry got the 15th gate.
Based on Tammaro’s projected odds, Renegade is considered one of four horses that stand out in the field. The co-second choices are Further Ado and Commandment at 6-1. Both are trained by Brad Cox, a Louisville native. Commandment has won four straight, including the Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park on March 28, while Further Ado impressed many with his 11-length win in the Blue Grass Stakes a week later at Keeneland.
Commandment drew the sixth post, and Further Ado will break from the 17th. Further Ado moved into that spot after Silent Tactic was scratched on Wednesday.
The fourth choice at 8-1 is Chief Wallabee, who will break from the 12th gate. He finished second to Commandment in the Fountain of Youth Stakes in February and third in the Florida Derby. Trained by Bill Mott, who won the Kentucky Derby last year with Sovereignty, is adding blinkers to the colt in hopes it will improve his performance.
“He seemed to be maybe just a little more straight and maybe a little more true,” Mott said after the draw.
Another horse drawing interest is The Puma, who won the Tampa Bay Derby on March 7 and followed that up by finishing second in the Florida Derby three weeks later. Trained by Gustavo Delgado, the colt will break ninth and has odds of 10-1.
Trainer Bob Baffert has a pair of longshots in the field as he seeks a record seventh Derby win. Litmus Test is 30-1 coming off a seventh-place finish in the Arkansas Derby, while Potente, at 20-1, finished second in the Santa Anita Derby to So Happy (15-1). Litmus Test is starting fourth, Potente 14th.
There are currently 20 horses entered, with three also-eligibles. Great White joined the field Wednesday after Silent Tactic was scratched. An also-eligible can enter the race, based on the points they acquired in prep races, if another starter is scratched before 9 a.m. ET Friday.

CHICAGO — Twenty-three days ago, Angel Reese was still a member of the Chicago Sky. On Wednesday night, she was playing against them.
Most preseason games pass without fanfare, but there was a large and enthusiastic crowd inside Wintrust Arena for Reese’s return to Chicago, which doubled as her unofficial debut with the Atlanta Dream after a stunning April 6 trade. Reese finished with eight points, seven rebounds, two assists and three steals in 13 minutes in the Dream’s 87-78 victory, but the result hardly mattered.
This was a night for Sky fans to pay their respects to their former star, and for Reese to close a chapter of her career.
“Angel, when you’re back in Chicago we love you!” read one fan’s sign. There were other signs sharing the same sentiment, and dozens of Reese jerseys and shirts scattered throughout the crowd. One kid was even rocking a Washington Wizards jersey bearing Reese’s brother Julian’s number 15.
At the first timeout, the Sky played a tribute video for Reese on the jumbotron, which drew a standing ovation.
“Just being grateful for my opportunities that I did have here my first two years, a lot of positives,” Reese said. “The fans came out and showed a lot of support for both teams. I’m really happy and grateful, and happy to be here with Atlanta now.”
After the final buzzer, Reese shared a hug with Sky coach Tyler Marsh on the court and waved to the crowd as she made her way to the visitors’ locker room for the first time.
“It was honestly the first time seeing her since the trade, so I was just telling her to ‘go be great, go kill it,’” Marsh said. “She’s with a championship-caliber team, so you saw some of her talents and things that she can do with them tonight. She fits in perfectly and she’ll be great.”
Reese, the No. 7 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, spent her first two seasons with the Sky. She quickly established herself as the best rebounder in the league — her 13.1 rebounds per game as a rookie remain a league record — and the face of the franchise. But while Reese was an All-Star in each of her first two seasons, the Sky went a combined 23-61 and missed the playoffs in both seasons.
Near the end of last season, Reese gave a controversial interview to the Chicago Tribune in which she publicly criticized the front office, coaching staff and her teammates.
“I’m not settling for the same s— we did this year,” Reese said in September. “We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me.
“I’m willing and wanting to play with the best. And however I can help to get the best here, that’s what I’m going to do this offseason. So it’s going to be very, very important this offseason to make sure we attract the best of the best because we can’t settle for what we have this year.”
She eventually apologized and was suspended for half a game. Between that suspension, a league suspension for accumulating too many technical fouls and a back injury, Reese missed Chicago’s final four games.
During Team USA training camp in December, Reese said she would not request a trade and planned to return to the Sky, but the two sides eventually agreed to part ways. On April 6, the opening day of the WNBA’s free agency period, the Sky traded Reese to the Dream for their 2027 and 2028 first-round picks — a return that was widely panned as too little for a player of Reese’s caliber.
“I think it was just best for me to move on, and I think it was helpful for both of us,” Reese said at shootaround early on Wednesday.
Now, Reese will team up with All-Stars Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard and Brionna Jones on a Dream squad that won a franchise-record 30 games last season, but lost in the first round of the playoffs. Atlanta hopes Reese will be the missing piece that helps them become a true title contender.
The early signs are promising.
“Everybody keeps asking me how I feel, but we’ve been practicing for a week and a half, and it feels like a month, it feels like two months,” Reese said postgame. “It’s been super seamless as I think everybody can see and an easy adjustment for me because I think my teammates and my coaches put a lot of confidence in me.”
“They want me to take the shots that sometimes I’m not confident maybe to take,” Reese continued. “But I was able to come out tonight and take shots that I was not comfortable taking and they still patted me on the back for it and still uplifted me in ways that I probably didn’t have before, so I’m just really grateful for all of it.”

BCCI’s Big Warning To RR ‘Team, Officials’ After Punishing Riyan Parag For Vaping During IPL Game
Following a huge furore after he was caught on camera vaping inside the team dressing room during an IPL 2026 match, Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag was on Thursday fined 25 per cent of his match fee for bringing the game into “disrepute”. The incident happened during an IPL game against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur. “Riyan Parag, captain of Rajasthan Royals, has been fined 25% of his match fee and has also accumulated one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials during Match No. 40 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against Punjab Kings,” the BCCI said in a statement.
“Riyan was found to have breached Article 2.21 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which relates to conduct that brings the game into disrepute. The incident occurred during the second innings when Riyan was seen using a vape inside the dressing room.
“Riyan admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by the match referee, Amit Sharma.”
Interestingly, the statement added that action may also be taken against RR, its officials, and players.
“The BCCI is also exploring other options to initiate proceedings for stringent action against the erring team, its officials, and player(s) to ensure that the reputation of the IPL remains intact,” the BCCI said.
When PTI reached out to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia regarding possible action against Rajasthan Royals, he said: “As it is written clearly in the statement, we are exploring what action to take against the team. It is not decided yet.”
The Indian government had banned e-cigarettes in 2019, prohibiting their production, sale, and distribution. As per the law, an offender faces imprisonment of up to one year and/or a fine of Rs 1 lakh for a first-time offence.
“Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct is intended to cover all types of conduct that bring the game into disrepute and which are not specifically and adequately covered by the offences set out elsewhere in this Code of Conduct, including Article 2.20,” the IPL Code of Conduct states.
“By way of example, Article 2.21 may (depending upon the seriousness and context of the breach) prohibit, without limitation, the following: (a) public acts of misconduct; (b) unruly public behaviour; and (c) inappropriate comments which are detrimental to the interests of the game.
“When assessing the seriousness of the offence, the context of the particular situation, and whether it was deliberate, reckless, negligent, avoidable, and/or accidental shall be considered.
“Further, the person lodging the report shall determine where on the range of severity the conduct lies (with the range of severity starting at conduct of a minor nature-hence a Level 1 offence-up to conduct of an extremely serious nature-hence a Level 4 offence).” Since it is a Level 1 offence, there was no need for a hearing

Citing provisions of the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019, the group said electronic cigarettes are banned in India, including their production, manufacture, import, export, transport, sale, distribution, storage and advertisement.It also rejected claims in some reports that vaping indoors falls in a “grey zone”, calling such assertions “misinformation”.“Union Health Ministry has also clarified that possession of e-cigarettes in any form or quantity is a violation of the law. The law clearly specifies that violation can attract imprisonment of up to six months or a fine of up to Rs 50,000, or both, while contravention of the wider prohibition can attract imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh, or both, with higher punishment for repeat offences,” the group said in its statement.“In India, the law must stand above all else. Whether one is a celebrity or a common citizen, the same rules must apply,” the group’s spokesperson said, adding that public figures should not be allowed to make a mockery of a product category that India has already banned in the interest of public health.The group said the presence of a vape-like device around a high-visibility cricketer on national television could send a wrong message to millions of young viewers.“We are all seeing an unmistakable trend: multinational tobacco companies are desperate to keep vapes in public conversation and to normalise these devices in India despite the ban. In that context, it is legitimate to ask whether Riyan Parag was acting entirely on his own or whether this controversy served, intentionally or otherwise, as publicity for banned substances. We are asking for an investigation,” the statement read.The collective added that if Parag had no ill intent, he should clarify his position and cooperate with any inquiry. “He should voluntarily submit to due process. No celebrity can claim a different standard from the one applied to ordinary citizens,” it said.The group further said that Indian cricket cannot afford conduct that “normalises a banned product before young viewers”.“The board must establish facts, enforce accountability, and send an unmistakable message that the law and the health of India’s children come first,” it said.The collective reiterated that vaping is not a harmless lifestyle choice, warning that such products could act as gateway devices for adolescents, making strict enforcement and responsible public conduct essential.“Our children do not just watch celebrities; they copy them. Seattle Seahawks linebacker Derick Hall made his mark on NFL history when he came up with a tone-setting strip sack in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots this February.
There’s a low percent chance that any football player will get a moment like that in his career. But Hall had to beat much greater odds. Hall had a 1% chance of survival when he was born four months premature at just 23 weeks gestation, born without a heartbeat and suffering from a brain bleed.
“I wasn’t born… breathing,” he told Fox News Digital. “I was born dead.

For his mother, Stacy Gooden-Crandle, those first days of her son’s life were filled with uncertainty and fear.
“Emotional, a lot of uncertainty, scared,” she said of her emotions in the days that followed her son’s premature birth. “But… those weren’t the feelings that I was feeling during Derrick’s birth. I just trusted that God would work everything out.”
That belief became the center of how the family made sense of everything that followed.
“It is probably the most important thing that we share,” Gooden-Crandle said of their religion.
“We are people of faith and have been for most of my lifetime. I joined church when I was 16 years old, and I’ve just grown up as a woman of faith. I’ve raised my children in the church and instilled faith in them and just allowed them to flourish in their faith in their walk with Christ.”
For Hall, growing up inside that environment gave meaning to struggles he didn’t yet understand.
“It was huge. It was amazing because I never really understood why me or why my family had to go through what I was going through,” Hall said said.

“My pastor always told me, you weren’t dying for this, you are blessed to be in this position and God has something greater for you, and I think that helped me be at ease with the situation and the things that me and my family were enduring during the time.
“I always speak to my faith because obviously I’m a miracle child, and I don’t say I’m doing good, I say I’m blessed, I can’t complain, I’m above ground and I’m blessed… You can’t tell me that a child with a one percent chance to live and not supposed to be walking, not supposed to be talking, not even supposed to be alive, ends up being a Super Bowl champion one day without the Lord being in their lives.”
Even after surviving infancy, the challenges didn’t disappear, and his childhood looked very different from other kids.

“My hardest time period was from about the age of four or five to about the age of 12 or 13,” Hall said. “I could go out and play, but it was only for about five minutes at a time and I would have to go sit down for an hour just to allow my body and my lungs to catch back up, and to this day my lungs are still underdeveloped, they always will be, they’ll always be three years behind.”
Those limits extended into nearly every part of his life, including the seasons when other kids were outside playing freely.
But through it all, Hall discovered football, and his condition wasn’t going to keep him from the game that would define his life.

“I started playing football at the age of four because I was trying to develop my body and get to the point where I was able to do things, and I fell in love with it because it was the first thing that I was able to do to make me feel like a normal kid,” he said.
For his mom, that moment came with a difficult decision about her son’s wellbeing.
“It was difficult to make the decision to allow him to play, so I allowed him to play flag football in the beginning, but making that jump to allow him to play tackle football when we were still seeing a neurologist every six months for a brain bleed, it was a difficult decision,” she said.

“I made sure all the coaches had asthma pumps and rescue inhalers, and I gave one to the coaches, the trainers, I kept one, to make sure if somebody needed to get to him they had what he needed… And as he progressed, I was getting more and more comfortable.”
The faith in letting him play football paid off when Hall received his first college scholarship offer when he was just in the eighth grade, his mom said.
Hall went on to be a standout linebacker at Gulfport High School in Mississippi, rising from a touted four-star prospect to a dominant All-SEC edge rusher at Auburn University.
But even after coming all that way from his premature birth, he still had a moment where he feared for his life in college.
“I had a scare in college where I went to practice that morning and I wasn’t feeling that well, and the next day I got up to go use the restroom and I couldn’t take like two steps without gasping for air,” Hall said. “We got to the hospital and the doctor said, we’re glad you brought him because if you would have waited another hour he probably would have been in very bad shape.”
It was a turning point in how he approached his own limits. But he didn’t shy away from his passion as a football player, and remained committed to his faith.
Hall finished his career at Auburn with 147 tackles, 19.5 sacks and 29.5 tackles for loss in 40 games. A highly touted recruit, Hall developed into a dominant SEC starter, earning first-team All-SEC honors in 2022 as a team captain, known for his elite power, speed, and high motor.
It earned him a chance to take his extraordinary story to the NFL as he went on to be the 37th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
But the 2025 didn’t unfold the way Derrick Hall expected, at least in terms of his individual stats at first. For much of the year, the numbers didn’t match the effort. He was getting pressure, getting hits, doing the work that doesn’t always show up in headlines, but the sacks weren’t coming.
“I was steady getting hits… I’m getting pressures,” Hall said. “But I can’t get the sack… I’m like, Lord, whatever you got planned, let it reveal itself.”
Statistically, that frustration was real. Hall finished the regular season with just two sacks across 14 games, contributing more as a rotational edge presence than a headline pass rusher. But within Seattle’s defense — a unit built on balance, depth and consistent pressure — his role still mattered. The Seahawks leaned on a collective pass rush rather than one dominant star, finishing the season as one of the league’s more effective defensive fronts.
And then, almost all at once, everything changed.
On the biggest stage in football, in Super Bowl LX against the Patriots, Hall delivered the kind of performance that reshapes a career. He recorded two sacks and a forced fumble, including a strip sack that helped break the game open and set the tone for Seattle’s 29–13 win. That single play — driving through the offensive line, knocking the ball loose, and creating a turnover — became one of the defining moments of the game.
For Hall, it didn’t feel like a coincidence. It felt like timing.
“I got to that Super Bowl and I got both sacks, and I’m like, man, ain’t no time like God’s time,” he said. “That’s true, man.”
In a season where he had spent months waiting for production to match effort, the breakthrough came when it mattered most.

After winning the first three games of the best-of-seven series, the Flyers lost Games 4 and 5 and struggled to find their offensive footing for much of Game 6. However, York’s first career playoff goal came at the perfect time, sending Philadelphia into a second-round matchup with the Carolina Hurricanes.
Following a faceoff win in the offensive zone, York unleashed a wrist shot from the right point that got through traffic, hit off the right post, and skipped past Arturs Silovs. The Pittsburgh goalie finished with 31 saves, while Dan Vladar turned aside 42 shots for his second shutout of the series.
Late in overtime, a shot by Philadelphia’s Porter Martone toward an open net was somehow stopped by Silovs’ stick that was lying on the ice. However, the Flyers won the game less than a minute later.

Alexandre Texier netted a tiebreaking goal early in the third period as visiting Montreal took control of its Eastern Conference first-round playoff series by holding off Tampa Bay in Game 5.
The Canadiens grabbed a 3-2 edge in the best-of-seven series, and they head home to Montreal for Game 6 on Friday.
Canadiens goalie Jakub Dobes wound up with 38 saves. Brendan Gallagher and Kirby Dach also scored for Montreal. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 21 saves for the Lightning, who got goals from Dominic James and Jake Guentzel. –Field Level Media

NEW DELHI: Riyan Parag, captain of Rajasthan Royals, has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during IPL 2026 match between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings.The sanction relates to a Level 1 offence under Article 2.21, which covers “conduct that brings the game into disrepute.” The breach occurred during the second innings of the match in Mullanpur, when Parag was seen vaping inside the dressing room during the live broadcast.“Riyan was found to have breached Article 2.21 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which relates to “conduct that brings the game into disrepute.” The incident occurred during the second innings when Riyan was seen using a vape inside the dressing room,” an IPL media advisory stated. Parag admitted to the offence and accepted the punishment imposed by match referee Amit Sharma. As per IPL regulations, a Level 1 offence carries a fine of 25 per cent of the match fee along with one demerit point, with no formal hearing required.The incident came to the notice of officials after video evidence surfaced, following which on-field umpires Tanmay Srivastava and Nitin Menon reported the matter, as reported by PTI. The IPL media advisory further added that the BCCI is also ‘exploring other options to initiate proceedings for stringent action against the erring team, its officials and player/s to ensure that the reputation of IPL remains intact.Parag’s actions drew criticism on social media, especially given that e-cigarettes are banned in India under a 2019 law that prohibits their production, sale and use.
