Sandy Alcantara broke the Marlins career record for innings pitched, leading host Miami to a 7-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday.
Miami broke its four-game losing streak.
Alcantara (13-6) pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and one walk, striking out eight. He got the record in the third, striking out Josh Lowe to break Ricky Nolasco’s mark with 1,226 innings at that juncture. Alcantara is already No. 1 in Marlins history for career strikeouts.
Two Marlins players who had been slumping over the past month — shortstop Otto Lopez and second baseman Xavier Edwards — led the offense. Lopez went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one walk. Edwards went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
Angels rookie starter Walbert Urena lasted just 2 1/3 innings — the shortest outing of his young career. He allowed four runs on four hits and three walks.

Urena nearly had an early lead to work with, but the Angels — who loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the third — came up empty. Nolan Schanuel smashed a 357-foot drive to center field, but Jakob Marsee ranged to his left and caught the ball on the run in the gap, likely saving multiple runs.
It was a different story in the bottom of the inning, when Miami loaded the bases before getting two big hits. With one out, Edwards stroked a two-run double, and, after Kyle Stowers drew a walk, Lopez drove in a pair with a single to give Miami a 4-0 lead.
Miami extended its lead to 7-0 in the fifth. Marsee started the rally with a leadoff triple, and Edwards followed with an RBI single. The Marlins then added Griffin Conine’s run-scoring single and Heriberto Hernandez’s RBI double.

Alcantara nearly gave up a run in the seventh, when Moises Ballesteros drove a one-out fastball 392 feet. However, Marsee made the catch on the warning track just in front of the center-field wall.
One batter later, Alcantara’s day was done after 108 pitches, one short of his season high.
Man Utd midfielder Mason Mount was forced off in the first half of the 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg.
Mason Mount said he was “all good” despite going off injured in the first half of Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg.
Mount lasted less than 20 minutes after starting for the fourth successive time in pre-season, being replaced by Tyler Fletcher after picking up a foot injury following a challenge in midfield.

The £60million midfielder had been United’s standout player in pre-season until that point, but he walked through the mixed zone after the game at the Ullevi Stadium with a smile on his face and when asked how he was, he said “all good”.
Mount then signed autographs for a couple of fans before boarding the team coach, with United heading straight to Dublin for the start of a training camp in Ireland over the next five days.
Michael Carrick also allayed fears that Mount had suffered a major setback, telling Scandinavian broadcaster VG that he had taken the 27-year-old off as a precaution.

“He got kicked,” he said. “We just wanted to be careful and look after him. We’ve been lucky with injuries so far, so we wanted to be careful.”
Manchester United will step up their pre-season work next week as they travel to Ireland for a training camp, with the final two friendlies of the summer against Leeds in Dublin and AC Milan in Wroclaw.
This week should see the return of the last of the World Cup contingent and Michael Carrick will have a full squad to work with, but there have still been only three new signings and there is plenty of uncertainty around the transfer window at Old Trafford.

Here are the latest answers to the questions you have asked:
Why are the owners so reluctant to spend money? Every United supporter can see that we are still three players short. We need a defensive midfielder, a winger and either a centre-back or a left-back.
It does feel like United have been overly cautious this summer, at a time when their rivals are spending money faster than it’s being printed. It makes for a fascinating contrast heading into the season.
I’m not sure we’ll get three more signings now, but although it feels quiet at the moment, I would expect more activity and more spending. There is a feeling at United that they should be judged when the window is shut, rather than now.

United don’t seem to want to pay for players so why not bring back Jadon Sancho as a winger?
Not sure if this is tongue-in-cheek or not. Would be quite the plot twist if Rashford and Sancho returned to United in the same summer. The fact is that if United had any desire to keep Sancho, they would have offered him a new contract.
He’s had loan spells at Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa and none of those clubs have wanted to keep him. He’s been a free agent for nearly six weeks now and hasn’t got a club lined up.
So he’s hardly in demand and if Rashford remains at Old Trafford, they don’t need a winger anyway. It will be interesting to see where Sancho ends up but it feels like he really needs to knuckle down to fulfil the potential everyone could see he had.

We still need a backup for Bruno Fernandes. Are United doing anything about this position?
There are no plans to sign a No.10 in this window. United did have some interest in Morgan Rogers and I think he could have played off the left and stood in for Fernandes, and perhaps replaced him in time, but they were never in the conversation at £117million.
This squad has players who can play there. I actually think it’s Matheus Cunha’s best position and Shea Lacey has twice started there in pre-season and looked really good. Amad is another who has played centrally, either as a false nine or as a No.10, so United are in a position where they can rest Fernandes more often this season. Which is something they really need to do.
I hope Rashford stays and plays for United this season. What are Ineos thinking about this?

As things stand, Rashford remaining at United and playing this season is the most likely outcome, although it feels like everything around this situation is subject to change.
Although they won’t say it, I think United would still like to sell Rashford and would snap someone’s hand off for £25million. There are people close to Rashford who believe United don’t actually want to sell him at all. So it’s clear as mud.
If anything is to happen, I think it will be late in the window, and for his part, Rashford wants to remain in the Champions League and amongst Europe’s elite. So forget about Turkey or Saudi Arabia.
How many more players do you think United will sign and will we get a reliable No.6?

This is a tough question to answer. I feel like they will end up signing fewer players than I expected at the start of the window. I’m going to say they will get two more, which will be a left-back and a midfielder.
I’m not sure that midfielder will be a traditional No.6, however. Carrick wants midfielders who are comfortable on the ball and can pass it this summer and while there are No.6s out there who tick every box, they cost a lot of money. I think it could be another high-level technical player in the £30million to £50million price range.
Do United think Dan Gore and Toby Collyer have done enough to be stars of the future? They have amazing potential.
I think the ship has sailed for Collyer. He turns 23 in January and at best he will be fifth or sixth choice for United next season. He is up for sale this summer and I think he is likely to leave on a permanent basis.

Gore could be sold as well. He is 22 in September and although he had a really good loan at Rotherham in League One last season, he isn’t ready for the Premier League but has outgrown academy football, so a move makes sense for all parties.
He spoke in a prerecorded video from the stage at Tom Benson Stadium Saturday, wearing his gold jacket. Presented by Jamie Williams, he received a standing ovation and embraces from fellow Hall of Famers.
Nearly eight minutes into his nine-minute address, Craig announced his diagnosis, stating doctors believe it “may be related, at least in part, to concussions” from his playing career.

“Two things could be true,” Craig said. “Football gave me opportunities beyond anything I can imagine. It helped shape the man I became. At the same time, we know more today about brain health than when I played. I hope sharing my story encourages people to pay attention to their health and seek help when something doesn’t feel right.

I am still a father, still a husband, a teammate, a friend and someone who loves this game and the people who brought it to my life. “When I learned that Bill Walsh wanted me, that meant something because he saw something in me that others didn’t,” Craig said. “He didn’t just want a running back, he wanted a complete football player. He trusted me to do whatever the team needed. That’s why a 1,000-yard rushing, 1,000-yard receiving season means so much to me. We weren’t chasing numbers. We were chasing wins. I didn’t realize I was making history. It just felt like we were doing something special as a team. Looking back, I can appreciate how difficult it is and how few players have done it since.
“What means the most is knowing we helped expand what people thought a running back could be. None of that happens without great teammates. What made those 49ers teams special: We weren’t selfish. We didn’t care who got the credit. We cared about winning.”
Craig was selected from the seniors category and entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026 with Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, Luke Kuechly and Adam Vinatieri.

MANILA, Philippines–The PBA postponed Sunday’s Governors’ Cup doubleheader at Ninoy Aquino Stadium due to severe weather conditions affecting Metro Manila and surrounding provinces.
Rain or Shine and Phoenix were supposed to meet in the first game at 5:15 p.m. followed by the matchup between Barangay Ginebra and Blackwater at 7:30 p.m., but the league decided to move the twinbill to a later date as heavy rains continue to hamper most parts of the country.

“In the light of the severe weather conditions, and the safety of our fans, players, officials and staff as our top priority, the PBA has decided to postpone its Sunday games,” the PBA said.
The postponement came after the last two playdates were marred by delays due to roof leaks caused by the weather.
The start of Saturday’s matchup of San Miguel Beer and guest team Macau was delayed due to a leak at Ynares Center Montalban in Rodriguez, Rizal, with the game also stopped for a few minutes near the end of the first quarter.
Rain or Shine and Phoenix are currently tied for the lead in Group B with identical 4-2 win-loss slates, and would have faced off to dispute the solo lead in the standings.
The Elasto Painters handed the Fuel Masters their first defeat during their first round encounter.

Ginebra and Blackwater were eyeing wins to boost their respective chances of making the playoffs as among the top four teams in the group. Ginebra beat Blackwater by 30 in the first round.

Youri Tielemans joined Manchester United on a deal running until 2031 last month – and made his debut against Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg on Saturday
Manchester United landed the bargain of the summer transfer window when they signed Youri Tielemans last month. That’s the view of former Reds forward Louis Saha, who also believes Tielemans presents better value for money than Elliot Anderson, Matheus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali.
United sealed a bargain £35m raid on Aston Villa to snatch Tielemans after a proposed £43m deal for Atalanta and Brazil midfielder Ederson collapsed following a medical. Tielemans, 29, has 244 Premier League appearances to his name, having joined Leicester City from Monaco in 2019, before moving to Villa on a free transfer following the Foxes’ relegation in 2023.

And Saha, speaking via PariuriX.com, believes: “Tielemans is a bargain. He arrived under the radar because he’s been in the Premier League for a long time.
“I think his name has been mentioned with United in the last two years. You can see that he was really interested in coming to the club.
“That’s what he said in his interviews. The way he’s spoken in the interviews reassures me as to why he’s been brought in to replace Casemiro.

“He’s experienced, he’s played in the World Cup, played well, showed his aggression, which is what we need in midfield. He shows his class with the ball in the simple way he plays his role in midfield. He understands where to position himself.
“His positioning is really, really good, and every touch that he does is very efficient, so he doesn’t lose the ball as much as other players.
“He doesn’t create as much as Bruno Fernandes, but he’s very mobile, so I like his profile. I think when you have Tielemans with Santos, they can combine really well. I think there is an unpredictability in that midfield, but still power, still guaranteed, so I really like that.”
United had been searching for at least one midfielder after signing Andrey Santos, 22, from Chelsea.
They lost out on signing Mateus Fernandes and Elliot Anderson, who joined Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, respectively.
Fernandes moved to Spurs for £85m, with Tonali also costing them £100m, while Anderson joined City from Nottingham Forest for a whopping £116m.
“When you compare Tielemans with Elliot Anderson, Matheus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, it’s a bargain,” former forward Saha added.

“I do think that the price tag that has been put on those kinds of players is ridiculous, but it’s a new market. I think it’s the market of the agents. The agents are extremely good.
“I do think that it’s very interesting that again the signings are players that really want to come to United so they fit the kind of mentality that we need.
“We need more of that and more players who completely dedicate themselves and sacrifice to be named in the history of rebuilding the legacy of Man United and I see this midfield as pivotal.”
The Washington Commanders were dealt a tough blow during Saturday’s practice, as star left tackle Laremy Tunsil suffered a torn triceps, which will require surgery and force him to miss most, if not all, of the 2026 season, per ESPN.
Tunsil suffered the injury while attempting to stifle a bull rush from free-agent addition Odafe Oweh during one-on-one drills. Just five months ago, Washington made Tunsil the first $30 million-per-year offensive lineman, signing a two-year, $60.2 million extension that reset the left-tackle market. It marked the second time in his career that Tunsil became the highest-paid player at his position.
Tunsil was acquired by the Commanders from the Houston Texans via trade last offseason and started 14 games for Washington in 2025. A video of Tunsil’s injury circulated around social media. It doesn’t offer the clearest look at what happened, but you can see Tunsil grab at his arm while kneeling down after the rep:
Tunsil just turned 32 years old last Sunday and has long been viewed as one of the best left tackles in the NFL. The former No. 13 overall pick of the Miami Dolphins has made five Pro Bowls over 10 seasons and is viewed as the cornerstone of Jayden Daniels‘ protection. PFF ranked Tunsil as the sixth-best offensive tackle in 2025 after he allowed 15 total pressures and two sacks.

This is a troubling development for the Commanders, who had their 2025 season derailed by injury. After going 12-5 in 2024 with an NFC Championship appearance, Washington went 5-12 when several key players were sidelined. On the offensive side alone, Daniels missed 10 games with multiple issues, including a dislocated elbow, star wideout Terry McLaurin had the worst season of his career after being forced to miss seven games due to a quad injury, and running back Austin Ekeler tore his Achilles in Week 2.
What happens next?
The Commanders will likely look in-house for their Tunsil replacement, and they do have a couple of options.
One is Brandon Coleman, the former third-round pick out of TCU in 2024, who began his NFL career at left tackle for Washington. The Commanders did make the NFC Championship with him blocking on the blind side, but Coleman was moved to left guard last year when Tunsil was acquired. Coleman ended up being benched for Chris Paul in Week 3, but did re-enter the starting lineup at left tackle when Tunsil was injured at the end of last season. In this training camp, Coleman was battling Paul for the starting left guard spot.
While experienced, Wylie has never started at left tackle. He was Washington’s starting right tackle in 2023 and 2024, but was replaced by No. 29 overall pick Josh Conerly Jr. in 2025. Wylie then moved inside to right guard and played 16 games with five starts.
The young Coleman and the veteran Wylie are likely Washington’s top two options, but there are a couple of notable names still out there on the open market. Taylor Decker and Cam Robinson headline the slim pickings.
Decker requested his release from the Detroit Lions this offseason after the two sides could not “find common ground.” The one-time Pro Bowler has 140 career starts to his name, but it’s curious as to why he’s still available. Would he play for a franchise other than the Lions, has he been actively searching for a new landing spot and what kind of shape is he in? It’s worth mentioning that new Commanders offensive coordinator David Blough spent several seasons with the Lions as a backup quarterback. The two have some kind of a relationship.
As for Robinson, he began last season with the Texans before being traded to the Cleveland Browns four weeks into the season. Robinson started in 12 of 13 games played for the Browns, and has 114 career starts for four different franchises. He was a former No. 34 overall pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars back in 2017.
Siya Kolisi has emerged as a major doubt for South Africa rugby’s series against New Zealand rugby after suffering a hamstring injury.
Kolisi was forced off in discomfort in the 25th minute of the Springboks’ 17-10 win over Argentina in Buenos Aires, with the veteran flanker grasping at the back of his leg.
The 35-year-old has already missed three Tests this year with a hamstring issue, withdrawing late ahead of the Nations Championship game against England and then missing subsequent clashes with Scotland and Wales.

Kolisi now faces scans on a possible recurrence of the injury with just two weeks until South Africa play the first of four Tests against the All Blacks.
“I hurt my hamstring again, unfortunately,” Kolisi said to the host broadcaster in Argentina. “I’ll go for a scan and see how it is.
“It’s really tough, but I can’t be sad about it. There’s nothing I can do now but go for a scan and see how long I’ll be out for.”

Rassie Erasmus had been pleased to be able to return Kolisi, Eben Etzebeth and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu to his starting side for the game against Argentina, though saw his side look rusty in a clunky attacking performance.

Tries from Edwill van der Merwe and Cameron Hanekom proved enough for victory after Benjamin Grondona had struck early for the hosts, who had several first-choice players unavailable because of club commitments in Europe.
Marco van Staden replaced Kolisi after his injury and is his likely replacement on the openside flank if the Springboks skipper misses part or all of the All Blacks series.
Being labeled a cheater on the golf course is a black mark that’s virtually impossible to remove. Whether it’s a wild cheating scandal at Q School or someone fluffing their lie during a Saturday morning scramble, cheating in golf isn’t new.
But what happened recently at WingHaven Country Club near St. Louis rocked the local golf scene and is spreading after the culprit went on ESPN Radio in St. Louis to confess.
To set the scene, the events happened during a member-member championship at WingHaven last weekend. The golfer in question, who we won’t name to avoid piling on, is a plus-2 handicap and played college golf at a junior college before having what he described to ESPN as “a cup of coffee” at Eastern Illinois University.
At the WingHaven event, there was a hole-in-one pot. The golfer in question was in the first tee time of the day, which he learned before the round. He told his group before they teed off that his grandmother had been having health issues and he was expecting a phone call that he might have to take. On the third green, the golfer told his group he got the call. So he ran up to the fourth tee box and teed off to keep up the pace of play. He told his group he’d meet them on the tee when he’d finished his call.

The fourth hole is a par-3. When the group caught up to their playing partner, they asked him how he fared with his tee shot. He said he “thinned it a little,” but didn’t see where it landed. When they got up to the green, there was a divot on the green . . . and the golfer’s ball in the hole.
Naturally, a celebration occurred, but there was understandably some skepticism because no one had witnessed the shot. Players sought out the superintendent, who reviewed security camera footage from a maintenance shed near the fourth green. The footage showed the golfer driving past the shed early in the morning toward the fourth green well before his tee time. After that footage surfaced, the golfer informed the super that he had placed the ball in the hole early in the morning. Aware he had put himself in an untenable spot, the golfer resigned his membership.
News of the faked ace quickly made its way around the St. Louis golf scene, leading the culprit to call into the ESPN show, “The Morning After,” on Friday to issue an apology, offer an explanation and ask that his family be left out of the reaction to his cheating. The pro shop at WingHaven confirmed the legitimacy of the story to GOLF.
“You do something as dumb as I did, there are consequences for that,” the golfer said. “Some are very fair, and some aren’t.

“I made a terrible mistake. The lack of moral character. I can take the banter and the chatter and the heat because I deserve that from a golf perspective. What I am most worried about is my family — breaking trust with a marriage that I have had for five years next month. We have two kids that are under 3 and it’s not fair to them for me to put them in that situation where when they walk through a room there is a stigma there that your dad is a [cheater]. So questions that they may get asked or be getting asked down the road, that’s the worst part. The golf is secondary.”
Asked why he made the decision that will follow him for the rest of his golfing life, the golfer did not provide much of an explanation.
“I was so upset that we were giving a couple shots back,” he said. “That’s no excuse. There’s no excuse for what I did, and I was completely in the wrong.
“There’s really no motivation. Just complete stupidity and we were giving two shots back to the field and that’s not an excuse. There’s no excuse for what happened. We were giving two shots back to the field and I went about it just completely and utterly the wrong way.”

The hole-in-one manipulator ended his appearance on ESPN Radio in St. Louis with a plea to those piling on — to not bring his family into the repercussions that are headed his way.
“People say he’s only sorry because he got caught and that might have been true at first,” he said. “But the messages that I’m going to get, I’m just someone to attack. People that I’ve never met in my life. People that don’t know me. People that have no clue who I am. They just want to attack. I get it. I opened up the door to that. That’s fine. I can take that. But my family doesn’t deserve that.
“I’m not a cheater on the golf course,” the golfer said. “I made a bad decision and I have to suffer the consequences. I’m trying to move forward as best I can and it’s been rough. … I’m trying to move forward and do what’s right for my family and be there for them and the two young kids that don’t deserve this. The wife that doesn’t deserve this. It’s terrible. I don’t want sympathy from anybody. I don’t deserve sympathy. But I just wish people would tread lightly on my family.”
It has been said that a reputation is earned in drops and lost in buckets. At WingHaven Country Club’s member-member, a swing that never happened cost a golfer something much more valuable than the money he had to return once his ruse was found out.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka was eliminated by Russian 16th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova on Saturday in a fourth-round match at the WTA Toronto Masters tournament.
Alexandrova defeated the four-time Grand Slam winner from Belarus 7-6 (7/3), 4-6, 6-4 in 2hr 29min to book a berth in the quarterfinals.

Sabalenka, who will seek her third consecutive US Open title next month, fell to 5-5 in her career WTA rivalry with Alexandrova, who will face either American eighth seed Amanda Anisimova or Ukraine’s ninth-seeded Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals.
Sabalenka broke for a 2-0 lead in the opening set, dropped the next four games, then held and broke back to 4-4 on a forehand drop volley winner.

Double faults by Sabalenka in the 11th game and Alexandrova in the 12th surrendered breaks leading to a tie-break.

The Russian took five of the last six points to seal the first set when Sabalenka swatted a crosscourt forehand wide.
In the second set, Alexandrova hit a forehand long to surrender a break and give Sabalenka a 4-3 lead. The top seed then held serve twice to force a decider.

Sabalenka was broken when she netted a forehand to give Alexandrova a 3-1 edge, but the Russian double-faulted away a break in the seventh game.
In the 10th game, Sabalenka made three unforced errors to give Alexandrova break and match points.
Sabalenka saved the first on a service winner and the second on an ace.

But after sending a backhand beyond the baseline, the Belarusian made her sixth and final double fault to lose the match.

“I didn’t have any expectations before the match,” Alexandrova said. “I knew it was going to be super difficult when I walked on the court.
“I was trying to risk as much as possible because it felt like it was the only way to create some chances. It caused many more mistakes but at the same time I created many more opportunities.”

Kylie’s latest post came just days after her brother, Carson Beck, started at quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, Aug. 6.
On the game day, Kylie showed her support for Carson on Instagram. She shared a video of him throwing a touchdown pass to Cardinals wide receiver Simione Tufui Fehoko during the second quarter in Canton, Ohio.

“That’s how it’s done,” Kylie wrote on her Instagram Story.
Kylie has also been celebrating another major achievement this summer. On June 24, she announced that she had become a Miami Dolphins cheerleader after going through the team’s audition process.
“Still on cloud 9 and in complete awe of the Lord and how He has moved in my life over this audition process of becoming a MIAMI DOLPHINS CHEERLEADER!!” Kylie wrote.
She said the video she shared showed her journey from attending preparation classes to making the team. Kylie also said she was thankful for the experience and described it as a “heartwarming & rewarding journey.”
Along with her announcement, Kylie shared a poem she wrote in March about dreams, faith and following God’s path.
In the poem, she wrote about how dreams can come from above and said people should not be afraid when following them. She also wrote about giving up doubts, staying hopeful and continuing to push forward even during difficult moments.

Kylie ended the poem by saying that God sees a person’s dreams and heart and can lead them down a different path before their “cup will one day overflow.”
She finished the post with a prayer hands emoji.
Kylie studied at the University of Georgia. While she was there, she was a UGA cheerleader. She was also part of the Georgettes and Dance Dawgs dance teams.
In April 2025, when she was a sophomore, Kylie left the university.
