Tiger Woods said he was “just talking to the president” on the phone following his car crash, according to bodycam footage released by Florida police.

Fifteen-time major winner Woods, 50, was arrested after escaping unhurt from the accident in which he clipped a trailer he was attempting to overtake and rolled his Range Rover.

He was charged with driving under the influence, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test following last week’s incident on Jupiter Island, Florida.

Woods was arrested and spent eight hours in custody on Friday before being bailed.

Martin County court documents showed Woods formally skipped an initial court appearance on Tuesday, but entered a written plea of not guilty via his lawyers and demanded a jury trial.

Bodycam footage of the aftermath of the crash released by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office shows Woods making a phone call and can be heard saying “thank you so much” before being asked by an officer to stay “down here with us please”.

Woods replied: “Yeah, I was just talking to the president.”

It is not clear if he was referring to Donald Trump.

The US president told reporters following the crash: “I feel so badly. He’s got some difficulty. He’s a very close friend of mine, he’s an amazing person, an amazing man.”

In further bodycam footage, Woods described looking down at his phone before feeling a “boom” as he crashed his car.

The footage shows Woods, wearing sunglasses, on his knees being assessed for any injuries on a grass verge close to the accident site at a junction.

He described the moment he crashed by saying: “I look down at my phone and all of a sudden… boom.”

When asked if he was comfortable, Woods replied: “Yeah, yeah.” He was then told by the police officer that he would be checked over by a doctor.

The officer then walked over to speak with the driver of the other vehicle, which was towing a trailer, with Woods’ black Range Rover flipped on its side at the junction of a narrow side road.

The driver of the other vehicle, who was also unhurt, is reported to have said he was stationary in front of Woods’ vehicle at the time of the collision.

More footage shows Woods undergoing various sobriety tests and two hydrocodone pills – a prescription opioid used to treat severe pain – were found in his pocket during a search.

When asked by a police officer how much he had to drink today, Woods replied: “None.”

When asked if he was taking any medication, he replied: “I take a few, yes.” Woods added that he had taken all his medication earlier that morning.

After his sobriety tests, Woods was handcuffed and told by the officer: “At this time I do believe that your normal faculties are impaired and you’re under an unknown substance, so you are under arrest for a DUI.”

It was the fourth occasion Woods has been involved in a motoring accident since 2009.

He has undergone numerous surgeries throughout his career, many to the leg and ankle, since suffering multiple injuries in a serious crash in 2021.

Prior to the incident, there had been speculation over whether Woods might play at the Masters – an event he has won five times – next week.

That will now not happen and the PGA of America said on Wednesday that Woods had turned down the opportunity to captain the United States at the 2027 Ryder Cup after he announced he would step away from golf for a period to focus on his health and wellbeing.

During the World Cup warm-up between the France national football team and Colombia, Kylian Mbappé came on late and requested for the captain’s armband to be taken from N’Golo Kanté and given to him.

A post shared online described how it happened:

“Kylian Mbappé asked Rayan Cherki to take the France captain’s armband from N’Golo Kante while he was coming on against Colombia.

Kante handed it over to Cherki to be given to Kylian.”

Kanté passed the armband on without any issue, with Rayan Cherki involved in the exchange.

The moment led to mixed reactions.

Some fans criticised Mbappé, especially as Kanté was marking his 35th birthday, while others pointed out that it is standard for the team’s official captain to take the armband once he comes onto the pitch.

INDIANAPOLIS — Solo Ball isn’t just a good shooter. He’s a great one. A net-shredder in the flesh. His 99 3-pointers last year — the fourth-most in a single season at UConn — prove that loud and clear. But with a Final Four clash with No. 3 seed Illinois looming in less than 48 hours, Ball admitted that he’s compromised right now due to the lingering impact of a painful wrist injury suffered in mid-December. Ball harkens back to a 15-day stretch in December where he landed awkwardly on his wrist against Butler, sat out against DePaul and re-aggravated the injury against Xavier.

UConn won all three games, but it came at a cost, and that debt is still being paid three full months later. 

Ball saunters into UConn’s jam-packed locker room at Lucas Oil Stadiun on Thursday with a grin, but his heavily-taped wrist is impossible to ignore.

Even knowing the cost, Ball chose to manage the pain and deal with the mental anguish of losing a bit of control over a once-pure jumper.

Ball is shooting just 29% from 3-point range this season. That’s far below his 41% threshold a season ago. He’s still somehow splashed 71 triples, which ranked fifth in the Big East, but the inconsistencies on a game-by-game basis — depending on how the wrist feels — can be equally maddening and illuminating as he navigates playing a hard game without his go-to weapon. 

Ball bounces up and down

UConn’s Solo Ball shooting has dropped since a wrist injury on Dec. 15 vs. Butler. Since then Ball’s scoring average has dropped 3.7 points and he’s shooing 7.1 percentage points.

“I just want to stay on the court,” Ball said. “I’ve had to learn how to move on and try to affect the game in other ways. I’ll do whatever it takes to win.”

Ball went 0-for-5 from downtown, but Dan Hurley doesn’t believe UConn pulls off the epic come-from-behind, Elite Eight win over Duke without Ball’s steal and old-fashioned 3-point play with 3:42 to trim Duke’s advantage to just 67-65. Oh, and he chipped in with a huge offensive rebound with 91 ticks left that earned a trip to the charity stripe to put even more game pressure on the Blue Devils.

Demary got the deflection, Alex Karaban made the extra pass and Braylon Mullins brought the rain for the game-winner, but those two winning plays in the clutch from Ball gave UConn major life, and he didn’t need to make a single jumper to do it.

“He’s such a threat, and he’s so capable,” Hurley said. “He played so great against Illinois and at MSG (Madison Square Garden, he made some shots, and that’s always good for a player going in versus an opponent because that matters to a player’s psyche. But he’s really guarded well for us in the Sweet 16 and in the Elite Eight, and when he’s not making shots, he creates so much spacing for the others. As long as he guards and rebounds and makes efforts and plays as hard as he can, he’s still like a 30-minute-a-game, incredibly valuable player for us.”

Ball’s home zip code is usually out floating around the 3-point stripe, but he’s tried to crash the offensive glass with more fervor this year. After shooting just 48% on layups a year ago, Ball is up to 58% at the tin in 2025-26. Playing off two feet has helped Ball draw even more fouls. He’s already shot 27 more free throws than a year ago.

Ball don’t lie

Solo Ball’s wrist injury has impacted the types of 3-pointers he is trying this season vs. last.

Slowly but surely, Ball has tried to become more of a complete player, even if the 3-point decline gets the noise.

“How many hustle plays can I make just trying to do that? It’s just something I got to do more going into these next two games,” Ball says.

That grittiness from Ball has permeated throughout UConn’s locker room. Point guard Silas Demary Jr. is dealing with a nasty sprained ankle, but he’s on the floor. Forward Jaylin Stewart has dealt with a right knee injury, but he’s back on the floor at the most critical juncture of the season.

“It just speaks to our coach and our culture,” Stewart told CBS Sports. “None of us wants to let the guys down. And Solo been that way his whole life. Never wants to let his teammates down. He always wants to be out there fighting with us. He’s a tough guy. Nobody’s 100% this time of the year, so if you if you can get out there, you got to.”

Everyone has bumps and bruises as the 39th game of the season nears, but UConn is unquestionably the most beat-up team in the Final Four, with two linchpins like Ball and Demary operating below the peak of their powers.

“Winning means a lot to us, and just to have our best guys playing through injuries, knowing that no matter what we want to be on the floor and make those plays, I think it’s a testament to this program,” Demary told CBS Sports. “If we win it all, we’ll be remembered as guys that gutted it out and were able to play through injury no matter what.”

Tiger Woods reportedly called Donald Trump shortly before the legendary golfer was arrested for DUI.

Woods was involved in a car accident in Jupiter, Fla. on Friday. In footage shared earlier this week, Woods told officers that he was briefly distracted by his phone before he clipped the trailer of a vehicle in front of him. Several pills were discovered in his pocket. Woods was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DUI and refusal to submit to a lawful test. He pleaded not guilty to the charges on Tuesday.

TMZ shared police bodycam footage from the scene on Thursday that showed Woods talking into his cell phone away from officers. “Thank you so much. All right. You got it. Bye,” Woods said into his phone as an officer approached. 

Walking back toward the crash with an officer, Woods said he was “just talking to the president.” Trump commented on the crash shortly after it happened, speaking to reporters outside of Air Force One. The president called Woods “a very close friend of mine.”

“I feel so bad. He’s got some difficulty — there was an accident, and that’s all I know,” Trump said. “He’s an amazing person, an amazing man. But some difficulty. I don’t want to talk about it.”

Woods is dating Trump’s former daughter-in-law, Vanessa Trump. Vanessa Trump has five children with Donald Trump, Jr., to whom she was married from 2005 to 2018.

Yuvraj Singh shone bright in the Indian cricket team at a time when the side had several giants. From Sachin Tendulkar to Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni to Zaheer Khan, the first decade-and-a-half of this millennium saw some of the biggest names in Indian cricket play together. In the midst of this, Yuvraj Singh was one of the chief architects of India’s two biggest triumphs – the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup.

It was also a period when MS Dhoni led the side with great alacrity. This meant that Yuvraj Singh never got the chance to lead the team on a long-term basis.

After Yuvraj’s playing career ended, his father, Yograj Singh, was quite vocal about MS Dhoni’s role in Yuvraj not getting the captaincy.

In a Sports Tak podcast, whose teaser was released on Thursday, Yuvraj Singh said: “I would like to apologise to Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni.”

He was also asked: “Do you feel bad when you listen to the interviews?” Yograj Singh’s photo appears when the query is made. Possibly responding to that question, Yuvraj says: “I told dad, it’s not OK.” Yuvraj’s ‘apology’, thus, may be in this regard. 

Yograj Singh, a renowned cricket coach in Punjab, is known for making controversial statements about former players. In 2025, he said he wanted to kill Kapil Dev for the then captain dropping him from the team during the 1980s.

“When Kapil Dev became captain of India, North Zone, and Haryana, he dropped me for no reason,” Yograj said on the YouTube channel ‘Unfiltered by Samdish’.

“My wife (Yuvi’s mother) wanted me to ask Kapil questions. I told her that I would teach this bloody man a lesson. I took my pistol out and went to Kapil’s house in Sector 9. He came out with his mother. I abused him a dozen times. I told him, because of you I have lost a friend, and for what you have done, you will pay for it.

“I told him, ‘I want to put a bullet through your head, but I am not doing it because you have a very pious mother who is standing here.’ I told Shabnam, ‘Let’s go.’

“That was the moment I decided I would not play cricket – Yuvi will play.”

Real Madrid are planning to sign a new midfielder in the summer, as they get set to finally replace Toni Kroos/Luka Modric. The likes of Rodri Hernandez, Vitinha and Kees Smit have been linked with moves to the Bernabeu, but in recent weeks, one name in particular has started to gain a lot of prominence in this regard: Enzo Fernandez.

Franco Mastantuono is teammates with Fernandez in the Argentine national team, and as per comments to DSports (via ED), he would certainly welcome his compatriot with opens arms if he ends up at Real Madrid this summer.

But even if Fernandez does join Real Madrid in the summer, there is no guarantee that he would be teammates with fellow River Plate alumni Mastantuono. Bernabeu officials are considering letting the teenage forward leave on loan for the 2026-27 season, as they want him to gain prominence elsewhere before returning to the club in a better place – as has, and will, be the case with Endrick Felipe.

Whether that happens or not remains to be seen, and this is also the case for Fernandez’s possible move to Real Madrid. Chelsea’s delicate financial situation, which saw them record the biggest one-season loss in the Premier League history earlier this week, could mean they look to sell on the Argentine midfielder when the summer transfer window opens at the start of July.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Akeem Ishola Busari as the new head coach of Nigeria’s U-17 girls’ team, the Flamingos.

Busari’s appointment was confirmed on April 2, 2026, marking a new beginning for one of Africa’s most successful youth teams. He replaces Bankole Olowookere, who guided the team to a bronze medal at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2022.

The new coach now faces the task of building on that success while introducing fresh ideas to the team.

Nigeria is preparing for the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted in Morocco. After receiving a bye in the first round, the Flamingos will play either Niger Republic or Guinea in May in a two-legged tie.

The schedule is tight, leaving little room for mistakes. If the team qualifies, they will face stronger opponents in July. Busari will also need to build a new squad, as players at this level often move on quickly.

Another key task for the coach is to restore confidence in the team. The Flamingos were knocked out in the round of 16 at the last World Cup after a heavy defeat to Italy, a result that still affects the team.

Busari brings a wealth of experience to the role. He is a CAF A-licensed coach and has worked in both men’s and women’s football in Nigeria and abroad.

Before his appointment, he was Technical Adviser at Pacesetter Queens in Ibadan. He has also coached clubs such as Shooting Stars, Crown FC, Gateway United, and Bayelsa Queens. At Shooting Stars, he helped the club gain promotion to the top flight during the 2008/2009 season.

He has also won several State FA Cup titles with Gateway United and Shooting Stars. At Bayelsa Queens, he served as Technical Director, gaining valuable experience in both coaching and administration.

Outside Nigeria, Busari has coached clubs in the Benin Republic, including Espoir FC and JSP Benin.

He is known for an attacking style of play, with his teams pressing high and moving the ball quickly. This style could suit the Flamingos, who are known for their speed and energy.

Off the pitch, Busari has also contributed to coaching development. A graduate of Lead City University, he has worked with the Lagos State Coaches Association, helping to train young coaches.

His new role with the Flamingos will focus on developing young players, maintaining Nigeria’s strong record in youth football, and preparing players for the senior national team.
