Mark Williams has devastatingly admitted that his eyes are getting ‘worse by the month’ following his victory over Ding Junhui at the Players Championship last night.

Williams won 6-2 to secure the win and set up a meeting with Kyren Wilson, who got the better of Mark Allen.

The Welshman, speaking to ITV after his win, said he was pleased with the result as he looks to go all the way.

However, he’s also heartbreakingly revealed that his eyes have deteriorated to such an extent that ‘everything is blurry’.

“It was just long ones that were blurry, but now everything is blurry.”

After the Players Championship is out of the way, Williams will play in two more tournaments this season.

“It’s mad. It has got to a stage if anything’s close I have no idea if they go, so I just go for them.

Williams’ best moment in the match against Junhui came when he achieved a high break of 64.

Reflecting on that moment, he added: “I can’t expect to make breaks if I can’t see the pockets.
