This putting aid hones your stroke — and mimics real-life lip-outs

Published

on

There’s no question that the fastest way to lower scores is by minimizing wasted shots on and around the green. And for players at every level, putting is often to blame when a hole — or round — goes sideways.

Think about it this way: In a regulation round, you’re expected to hit around 14 drives, 22 or so shots with shorter clubs … and 36 putts! So if you’re looking to shave a few strokes from your score, putting is the most obvious area to focus on.

Needless to say, dialing in your putting stroke is a tried-and-true way to post lower scores. So what exactly does “dialing in” look like? For most players, it comes down to practicing center contact with your stroke and achieving consistent roll. The only way to do that is to spend some quality time with your flatstick.

While the commitment to improving can feel daunting, don’t let that deter you! Even if it isn’t convenient for you to make regular visits to a real green or practice area, there are plenty of putting training aids you can purchase that can be used at home. One example: PuttOUT’s Premium Pressure Putt Trainer.

What sets this training device apart from numerous others on the market? Let us count the ways…

First and foremost, the Pressure Putt Trainer can be used indoors or out. Its lightweight, foldable and compact design makes it easily transported and stored. It includes a spiked base for stability and three different aim points.

The white, circular target is the exact same diameter as a regulation hole, with tapered sides that mimic real-life lip-outs if your putt isn’t center-cut. That kind of instant feedback is valuable, and isn’t always a given with putting aids.

The curved ramp behind the Pressure Putt Trainer’s “hole” is specially designed to return “made” putts back down the ramp, delivering the ball the exact distance on the way back that it would have rolled past the hole. This feature makes it easy to judge whether or not you’re hitting your putts with appropriate speed.

Additionally, in order for the putt to roll up and back down the ramp, your ball needs to roll over the ramp’s “micro target.” The micro target also pops out so that only putts hit with both perfect pace and alignment will land in it.

To go even further in your stroke-path training, there’s a designated space to place an alignment stick at the top of the device to help you better visualize a straight-back and straight-through motion.

Use this device on a putting mat, the floor, or outside on real grass, setting up putts of any length. No matter where you decide to practice, one thing’s for sure: If you can manage to find the micro target successfully time and again, your putting will improve — and so will your scores.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe unsure over Bruno Guimaraes future but shuts down Alexander Isak comparison

Published

on

Eddie Howe has failed to ignite confidence that Newcastle will be able to keep hold of captain Bruno Guimaraes this summer amid intense interest from Arsenal.

The Premier League champions are reportedly loading up £70m offer for the Brazil international, who is yet to join up with the Newcastle squad after featuring at the World Cup.

Howe was asked about Guimaraes’ future after their 1-1 pre-season friendly draw with Gateshead on Saturday, revealing he has been in contact with the midfielder but remains unsure of where he will be come the end of August.

“I’ve spoken to him as I would do with Bruno normally,” Howe said. “He is a fantastic person and we have had some really good conversations both before, during and after the World Cup. What we speak about obviously has to remain private but he is a great player and a great person.

“Look, I don’t know what is going to happen with Bruno. That is up to other people to speculate about but also other people to have conversations about which I’m not a part of.

Off the back of a disappointing World Cup last-16 exit to Norway, Guimaraes will join Newcastle’s pre-season camp in Spain on Friday with the player currently on holiday with his family.

There have been fears that the midfielder may cause a repeat of the transfer saga that surrounded Alexander Isak last summer, who went on strike to force a move to Liverpool.

Howe has shut down these comparisons, however, and expects Guimaraes to train as normal despite wishing to move on.

“I don’t think it is fair to compare situations and what happened previously. You’ve got to look at this in its own right,” he added.

“Bruno is captain of our football club. He has been an unbelievable player and person all the time we have worked together. I speak on behalf of everyone at the football club when I say we absolutely love him and of course everyone wants him to stay.

“The plan is for him to come back on July 31, he gets an extended break because of the World Cup and is currently enjoying a holiday with his family… There is nothing to say that Bruno won’t be back training with us.”

Cosmic Crusader’s Bletchingly Stakes triumph marks new stable success in 2026

The former Perth galloper, Cosmic Crusader, has made an immediate impact on the eastern seaboard, clinching the final Stakes race of the season at Caulfield.

In his debut run for the Andrea Leek stable, Cosmic Crusader claimed the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) on Saturday. This victory comes after his second-place finish in the Gold Rush (1400m) at Ascot in December.

That performance at Ascot was just a week after Cosmic Crusader had won the Group 1 Northerly Stakes (1800m).

Ridden by Daniel Stackhouse and starting as the strongly supported $3.60 favourite, Cosmic Crusader won by 2-½ lengths from Winnasedge ($4.20), with Recommendation ($7.50) a further 1-½ lengths adrift in third.

Leek expressed her appreciation to owner Bob Peters for entrusting Cosmic Crusader to her Pakenham stable, which resulted in her first Stakes success.

“The Peters family (have been great), especially Bob for giving me this horse, entrusting me with him, it’s fantastic,” Leek stated. “I have to give a little shout-out to Tom Ahern. He had a little wind procedure when he was out spelling and that has worked.

“I was happy where he was back in the run. I was thrilled when he got that cover for a short amount of time.

“He (Stackhouse) rode him to get further distance, he rode him to win and I couldn’t be happier.”

Leek indicated that discussions with Peters would determine Cosmic Crusader’s future path, but mentioned that the Group 2 P B Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 15 and the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m), also at Caulfield two weeks later, are likely targets.

Stackhouse described Cosmic Crusader as a “beautiful” horse, while also acknowledging his somewhat quirky disposition.

“As soon as I sat on him and cantered down, he dropped his head and gave me a beautiful feel,” Stackhouse commented. “He’s a bit of a quirky sort of horse though. He can lose his marbles a little bit, but as soon as we got a man behind the gates with him, he settled nice.

“I rode him where he was comfortable and I was always happy to go up on the inside.

“He switches off at the right time and when you ask him to go, he can accelerate very fast.

“He’s got a lot better races to win than this, but it’s a nice race to win for the team.”

Ludwig responds to backlash over claims that Team Mexico participants at Streamer Games 2026 aren’t “real Mexicans”

Published

on

YouTube and Twitch streamer Ludwig recently responded to criticism surrounding Team Mexico’s roster for Streamer Games 2026 after some social media users claimed that several participants were not “real Mexicans” because they do not currently live in Mexico.

A clip shared on X by user @veizau shows Ludwig responding to the backlash during a livestream, where he argued that heritage should not be erased simply because someone lives outside Mexico.

He said:

“The concerns that they’re not real Mexicans, which I have a problem with as a first-generation American. I think that’s something that happens a lot. It’s like people like to erase your heritage. But I do understand, like, there aren’t people represented who actively live in Mexico.”

The streamer further argued that living in the United States does not make someone any less Mexican if their family is from Mexico. Ludwig said:

“But, like, bro, you’re Mexican even if you’re, you know, living in America or your family immigrated. Like, you’re still… like, you don’t lose that heritage. I think even in Mexican law, by the way, if your parents are Mexican, you’re Mexican.”

The streamer also acknowledged that many fans wanted creators currently living in Mexico to represent the country. However, he explained that assembling such a roster was more difficult than many people assumed, despite reaching out to multiple creators. Regarding this, he said:

“So I find that, like, a little bit dismissive of people. But I get it. I mean, I do understand, like, the desire for someone who lives in Mexico to really rep it in that way. It’s a little harder to pull people like that, to be honest. I mean, I obviously sent out a lot of messages.”

Ludwig concluded by standing firmly behind the lineup, rejecting claims that the participants were not “Mexican enough.”

“But I think our Mexico team, I stand behind. They’re fully Mexican. And I don’t like the half-Mexican discourse or ‘not Mexican enough’ discourse.”

Who are the Team Mexico participants revealed by Ludwig for Streamer Games 2026?

On July 23, 2026, the creator unveiled the complete roster for Streamer Games 2026 through a post on X. Out of the 39 participants, Team Mexico features the following five creators:

  • Benjy
  • Wendy Ortiz
  • Evelyn Ortiz
  • Danny Bans
  • Bryce “Arky”
