Watch as new England manager Thomas Tuchel shuts down a request from his German compatriot during a press conference.
The 51-year-old was speaking to reporters following the announcement of his first squad as England manager.
One reporter made a specific request for Tuchel to speak in German in response to one of her questions but he was unwilling to accommodate her demand “out of respect” for his surroundings.
She asked: “I am asking the question in English. Your goal is to bring it [football] home and I wonder if what you’ve learned since January that can help you on that mission?
“If you could answer that in English and in German, I will waive my second question.”
A grinning Tuchel responded: “I would like to do it [my response] in English. Out of respect for where we are and for the others [reporters].”
