Trevor Bauer follows no-hitter with 10-strikeout outing for Ducks

Published

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Trevor Bauer, the former Cy Young Award winner and MLB All-Star, had quite the follow-up to his no-hitter he threw for the Long Island Ducks during his most recent outing on Saturday night.

Bauer struck out 10 hitters, while walking just one, in the Ducks’ 6-1 victory over the Lexington Legends in front of a sellout home crowd on May 2. He allowed six hits and one run across 101 pitches for the Ducks.

With his 10 strikeouts, Bauer now leads the Atlantic League in strikeouts after three starts.

Bauer’s agent, Rachel Luba, pointed out on social media that Bauer was topping out his fastball at 98 mph as well.

A common theme now for Bauer is also making sure to stop for autographs and pictures after each of his starts, which happened again on Saturday night at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.

Bauer’s previous outing saw some Ducks history, as he threw a no-hitter against the Lancaster Stormers in a scheduled seven-inning game as part of the team’s doubleheader.

It was Bauer’s second start in the United States since 2021, where he faced just one batter over the minimum in a scheduled seven-inning game of a doubleheader against the Stormers. Bauer threw 84 pitches, striking out seven hitters and walking just one to lose out on the perfect game.

TREVOR BAUER SAYS NO MLB TEAM WILL SIGN HIM DESPITE THROWING A NO-HITTER AND OFFERING TO PLAY FOR FREE

Bauer unleashed a roar on the mound after a called strike three to notch the third no-hitter in Ducks history. In this win over the Legends, Bauer was seen doing his patented “sword” celebration as he was feeling it on the mound with double-digit strikeouts.

Bauer said he looked forward to competing in the United States and seeing fans again in his home country this season shortly after he signed with the Ducks. Bauer pitched in Japan in both 2023 and 2025, while a stint in Mexico came in 2024. He pitched to a 2.59 ERA and 9.2 K/9 in Japan in 2023, and in Mexico, those numbers improved to 2.48 and 13.0. Last year in Japan, though, his ERA shot up to 4.41, and he struck out just 8.2 batters per nine innings.

Bauer is certainly enjoying the competition, too, as he looked comfortable on the mound. After his first start on April 21, an American League team scout in attendance believed Bauer to be “a guy who can help” an MLB club. After all, Bauer continues his grind to get back to the height of major league play like he was with the Los Angeles Dodgers before being hit with sexual assault allegations.

This June will mark five years since Bauer, as the reigning Cy Young Award winner, last appeared in an MLB game. On June 28 of that year, he tossed six innings of two-run ball while striking out eight batters, recording the win.

Two days later, Bauer was hit with sexual assault allegations, which eventually led to a 324-game suspension (the equivalent of two seasons). It was eventually reduced to 184 games for violating the league’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.

Bauer has maintained his innocence, settling with one accuser while another is facing 16 years in prison after being charged with fraud for faking a pregnancy and asking Bauer for money for an abortion.

Bauer and Lindsey Hill, who accused the pitcher of beating and sexually abusing her in 2021, settled their case without any exchange of money in late 2023. Bauer revealed texts from Hill, who said that Bauer would be her “next victim,” among other damning messages. Hill has since said that MLB has more evidence of Bauer’s alleged misconduct.

Last June, Hill was ordered to pay Bauer more than $300,000 for violating settlement terms. Hill breached their settlement agreement with each other by discussing Bauer on podcasts and in public appearances, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Nearly two years ago, Bauer said he “may have no other choice” but to sue Major League Baseball “if I continue being kept out” of the league. Bauer has said he’d “play for the league minimum,” but he has yet to sign with an MLB team.

Bauer has since called out MLB after Pete Rose and other deceased former players were taken off the league’s permanently ineligible list.

“So, since Pete is welcome back now, does that go for everyone who has been blackballed?” Bauer asked on X. “Or do you actually have to be guilty of something to qualify for that?”

Sourav Ganguly’s Security Cover Downgraded By Bengal Government. Here’s Why

Published

on

In a significant development, the newly formed West Bengal government has decided to scale down the security cover of former Indian cricket team captain and former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President, Sourav Ganguly. The decision was taken by the state’s security wing following a comprehensive security reassessment and threat perception analysis. Ganguly’s security had previously been upgraded from the “Y” category to “Z” in 2023.

Under the “Y” category security cover, Ganguly used to have three policemen from the Special Branch in his cordon, with an equal number of law enforcers guarding his Behala residence. The subsequent “Z” category arrangement saw the Indian cricket icon protected by a team of 8 to 10 police personnel. However, that upgrade has now been rolled back.

Why Was Ganguly’s Security Downgraded?

The high-level “Z” category security arrangement was originally granted to Ganguly after a routine administrative evaluation. This tier provided him with a dedicated team of personnel stationed at his Behala residence, while armed escorts accompanied him during all travel within the state.

However, under the state’s new security protocols, Ganguly’s updated threat assessment does not warrant “Z” category protection. Although the retired cricketer will continue to receive necessary police protection, the extensive VIP cordon, stationary home guards, and dedicated personal security officers (PSOs) allotted under the “Z” category have been scaled down.

State officials clarified that the reduction in Ganguly’s security is not an isolated decision, but rather part of a state-wide restructuring of VIP security protocols.

It has also been reported that the primary objective of this administrative overhaul is to align protective deployments strictly with an individual’s active constitutional role, official status, and updated threat assessment. At present, Ganguly does not fall into a category where his potential threat level requires “Z” category protection.

Published

on

The 2026 NBA Finals is a rematch 27 years in the making, as it will feature the same teams who squared off in the championship series in 1999. The San Antonio Spurs won that series over the New York Knicks, in what was the Spurs’ first trip to the Finals and remains the Knicks’ last NBA Finals appearance. Game 1 of the NBA Finals 2026 will take place on Wednesday with San Antonio (62-20), the 2-seed in the West, hosting the East’s 3-seed in the Knicks (53-29). Mitchell Robinson (finger) is questionable for the Knicks.

Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET from Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. The home team has won each of the last nine regular-season meetings. San Antonio is favored by 4.5 points in the latest Spurs vs. Knicks odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, while the over/under for total points scored is 218.5. After studying Spurs vs. Knicks from every angle, Hartstein is leaning Over 218.5 total points.  Just about all of the NBA betting trends favor the Over, especially in regard to recent games. The Over is 4-1 across the Knicks’ last five games, while the Over is a staggering 10-2 over San Antonio’s last dozen contests. New York having a rest advantage also favors the total being eclipsed. The Over sports a 6-2 record over the Knicks’ last eight games following four-plus days of rest, while the Over has hit in 63% of Spurs games in which they were at a rest disadvantage.

The matchup history between these two also indicates Game 1 should be a high-scoring affair. The Over was 2-1 across their three meetings this season, averaging 235.3 combined points. Additionally, over the last nine Spurs vs. Knicks matchups, the total has been surpassed seven times, as Hartstein sees these Over trends continuing in Game 1. See his Knicks vs. Spurs spread pick at SportsLine, and you can bet the Over in Knicks vs. Spurs at FanDuel here:

Women’s World Cup 2027: Who needs what in qualifying?

Published

on

The Republic of Ireland are third in their group, but their fate remains in their own hands as they face the two teams above them – taking on the Netherlands in Cork on Friday (19:30) before travelling to France for their final fixture on Tuesday (20:00).

Win both and the Republic of Ireland will seal a place at the World Cup – for only the second time in their history – regardless of results elsewhere.

As Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are in League B, however, the picture is slightly different.

The best they can achieve is a play-off place by finishing in the top three – a position both have already secured with two games to spare.

Scotland are in top spot before back-to-back fixtures with Israel on Friday (17:00) and Tuesday (18:00).

Meanwhile, Wales are second in their group on goal difference behind Czech Republic whom they host on Tuesday (18:00), after travelling to Montenegro on Friday (17:00).

Finally, Northern Ireland need a point from their final games in Turkey (Friday, 18:00) and at home to Switzerland (Tuesday, 18:00) to secure a play-off berth.

Reaching the play-offs extends hope of making the World Cup, but teams will still have to navigate two rounds in the autumn to get to Brazil.

Fans Blast Kevin Garnett For Picking on Victor Wembanyama Crying After WCF Win

Published

on

Victor Wembanyama endured an emotional night after securing the Western Conference title, even shedding tears postgame. However, NBA legend Kevin Garnett criticized the Spurs star for showing emotion before winning the Finals, questioning the timing of his reaction despite the magnitude of the achievement.

The former NBA champion offered a scathing review of Wemby’s emotional reaction during an episode of the Ticket & the Truth podcast on Tuesday.

“He’s got to go through some bull s*it. He’s crying in the motherf*cking Western Conference finals,” KG remarked. “That was too emotional for me … You got four more games to get. You’ve got to go through the Finals now.”

Garnett’s reaction to Wemby’s emotional outpour was later highlighted by Joebuddenclips on X (formerly Twitter).

“Kevin Garnett says Victor Wembanyama crying in the Western Conference finals was too emotional for me the job isn’t done yet,” joebuddenclips wrote. “He also says the Knicks need to be ready cause the Spurs ain’t the sixers they got people to guard Jalen Brunson.”

The post quickly earned the reactions of fans who blasted KG for picking on Wemby.

@Thechat101 This toxic masculinity bs needs to stop. Look how it’s working out for American talent

@Thechat101 KG’s sorry a*s never got to the finals. Duncan always punked his loud mouth

@Thechat101 I disagree with VW being too emotional. He just realized a special goal for himself, his team & the entire Spurs family & opened the door to achieving his ultimate goal. I do agree that Knicks haven’t yet felt what it’s like to be punched in the mouth, but they will soon 👽❤️🏀

@Thechat101 Ni*ga…He‘s a passionate player. Okay the man cried, he’s allowed to do that, that’s what’s missing in the game of basketball now, passion. Now when a player shows it? He’s too emotional?! I’d be scared if I was the Knicks. This man WANTS to win, by any means. He showed you he

While a few fans extended Garnett an olive branch and understood what he meant, they still felt Wemby was young and had the right to show his emotions.

@Thechat101 I understand what KG is saying, but the guy is 22 years old and making his first finals. I’m sure it will be a little bit different after he makes it a couple of times. It’s tough to tell people how to exude emotion when it’s their first time in a situation!

@Thechat101 People different KG, same way u saying “anything is possible” is too emotional for some people. I respect his perspective, but not everyone thinks like u KG.

Although Garnett’s argument centered on unfinished business, Wembanyama continues to stand out as a transcendent figure on and off the court. Beyond his unique skill set as a three-point shooting big man, his emotional maturity and willingness to express himself have become defining traits of his personality.

Despite Garnett’s criticism, the Spurs star remains a breath of fresh air in a sporting landscape where showing emotion is often viewed as a weakness. Wembanyama, however, has leaned into being unapologetically authentic, embracing his individuality rather than conforming to traditional expectations.

An emotional Victor Wembanyama reflects on winning the WCF title

Victor Wembanyama helped secure the San Antonio Spurs’ first Western Conference Finals title since 2014 on Saturday, following a grueling seven-game series against the OKC Thunder. After the game, the center was visibly emotional as he picked up the Western Conference Finals MVP award.

During the postgame interview, Wemby reflected on the WCF title while looking back on his journey.

Winning the Larry O’Brien is a childhood dream,” Wemby said. “Having a real, tangible chance at it, at realizing that dream, you know, it’s a lifetime opportunity. You never know when it’s going to happen again … It’s hard to put into words. It’s almost like the meaning of my life.”
