An error-strewn performance by Tottenham Hotspur saw them lose 4-2 away to Wolverhampton Wanderers as their fourth loss in six Premier League games deepened coach Ange Postecoglou’s crisis but easing the hosts’ relegation worries.
Wolves made the most of West Ham United‘s 2-1 loss away to Liverpool to go 16th in the table on 35 points, ahead of the Hammers on goal difference and 14 points clear of 17th-placed Ipswich with six games to play.
Spurs are two points ahead of Wolves in 15th.
A poor punched clearance by Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario led to Rayan Ait-Nouri‘s opener for Wolves after 85 seconds, and the keeper was at fault again in the 38th minute as he pushed Marshall Munetsi‘s glancing header onto Djed Spence, with the ball bouncing off the Spurs defender into the net.
The visitors pulled a goal back through Mathys Tel in the 59th minute but conceded again five minutes later after an error by Cristian Romero, and though substitute Richarlison netted with a close-range header, then Lucas Bergvall gave the ball away and Matheus Cunha made it 4-2.
