Yan Diomande: Real Madrid sign Ivory Coast winger from RB Leipzig

Published

on

Real Madrid have signed Ivory Coast international Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig for a fee worth up to £120m (140m euros).

The 19-year-old winger has signed a seven-year contract and his price tag could surpass the £115m (133.9m euros) Real agreed to pay Borussia Dortmund for Jude Bellingham in June 2023.

Paris St-Germain had been frontrunners for the teenager but the Champions League winners pulled out of a potential move on Sunday after a £102.5m bid was rejected.

Diomande was previously a target for Liverpool, who had an initial bid of £69m rejected in June, as they search for a Mohamed Salah replacement, who has left the club.

Diomande is Real’s sixth summer signing under new head coach Jose Mourinho, joining Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella and Carlos Espi.

In a statement, the teenager thanked Leipzig fans for their “incredible support”, and said: “Who knows? Maybe we’ll meet again one day in the Champions League.”

But he said the move to Madrid “is a childhood dream come true”, adding: “I am all the more grateful to the management at RB Leipzig for making this move possible despite my current contract.”

He was named the Bundesliga’s Young Player of the Season for 2025-26, having scored 12 goals and registered eight assists in the competition.

He appeared in all four of Ivory Coast’s World Cup games as they were eliminated in the round of 32 by Norway.

Diomande moved from his native Ivory Coast to an academy in the United States before joining Spanish side Leganes in 2025 and then Leipzig later that year.

Lionsgate Play will be releasing ‘A Beautiful Obsession’, a four-part docuseries following Pep Guardiola’s final chapter at Manchester City in India.  All four episodes launch exclusively on Lionsgate Play in India on 21st August. The trailer offers a first look at the raw, unfiltered access granted to Academy and BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald. From never before seen dressing room moments to boardroom decisions, A Beautiful Obsession shows what was actually happening at the club during a disappointing 2024/25 season and the resurgence of the team to claim a domestic double. It captures a squad in flux: established stars departing, new faces finding their feet, and a manager wrestling with when to let go.

Across two seasons, the series charts a dramatic emotional arc, from the shock of a string of defeats and the fight to claim the final Champions League spot in 2024/25, through a radical squad rebuild, to a redemptive 2025/26 campaign that culminates in a defining clash with Arsenal, an FA Cup Final, and Guardiola’s farewell to the club he transformed.

The series is directed by Kevin Macdonald alongside City Studios’ John De Caux and produced by Kevin Macdonald for Plan B and Workerbee (part of Banijay UK), and Gavin Johnson and Ged Doherty for City Studios. This is the ultimate account of an emotional farewell that marks the end of an era in English football.

Superlek vs. Dayakaev II, Anane vs. Suakim, Grigorian vs. Usubyan

Published

on

The Inner Circle 25 on Friday, August 7, at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok delivers one of the most stacked cards of the weekly series.

In the main event, Nabil Anane and three-division Lumpinee Stadium world champion Suakim Pongsuphan PK clash in a world title eliminator with a shot at the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai belt on the line for the winner.

Meanwhile, Abdulla “Smash Boy” Dayakaev and ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek “The Kicking Machine” run it back in a rematch that demands a cleaner result.

Elsewhere on the card, Marat Grigorian opens his ONE SAMURAI Featherweight Kickboxing Tournament campaign against hard-nosed Russian-Armenian contender Mamuka Usubyan.

Prediction: Nabil Anane defeats Suakim Pongsuphan PK via TKO in round two

Suakim’s seven-fight winning streak is built on overwhelming forward pressure and knockout power, but Anane’s 6-foot-4 frame creates a problem no Thai fighter on that streak has had to solve.

The reach and length make it nearly impossible for Suakim to gauge distance accurately, and every time he closes the gap, he walks into danger.

Anane should impose his size from the opening round and put Suakim away in round two with his ferocious head kick.

Prediction: Superlek defeats Abdulla Dayakaev via TKO in round three

Dayakaev’s first-round knockdown settled the first fight on the scorecards, but Superlek’s response across rounds two and three showed exactly where the cracks were.

The Russian’s body has shown vulnerability under sustained pressure, and Superlek should take a page from ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon’s blueprint, going to the body early and often to drain Dayakaev’s engine.

The damage should accumulate steadily until the third round, when “The Kicking Machine” forces the stoppage and settles the debate.

Prediction: Marat Grigorian defeats Mamuka Usubyan via unanimous decision

Grigorian’s relentless forward pressure and punch volume should overwhelm Usubyan across three rounds.

The Armenian veteran has been the most in-form fighter in the featherweight division and arrives as the tournament favourite for good reason.

The former world title challenger should advance to the ONE SAMURAI Featherweight Kickboxing Tournament semifinals without too much difficulty.
