More than 40 cars are listed on the platform currently
Car shoppers in Singapore now have a fresh option to browse new and used vehicles, following the launch of Grab’s online car marketplace on Sep 9.
At the time of writing, there were more than 40 cars listed on the website, including used ones belonging to dealerships such as SG Car Choice and CarTimes Automobile. Some also belong to Grab’s rental arm, GrabRentals.
Used cars are priced between S$11,800 for a Mazda 3 Sedan with eight months left on its certificate of entitlement and S$204,997 for a Toyota Alphard Hybrid with seven years left.
On the other hand, all of the over 20 new cars listed are either electric or hybrid vehicles. These include models such as the BYD Seal 6 DM-i plug-in hybrid, Dongfeng Box Electric Essential and Proton e.Mas 7 Electric, as well as the Hyundai Kona Hybrid.

Those looking to list their vehicles for sale can reach out to the company via email.
Some of the motor dealers who are listed on the platform also supply cars to Grab’s private-hire and taxi operations.
A spokesperson for Volt Auto, the authorised distributor of Dongfeng electric vehicles (EVs), told The Straits Times that the company did not have to pay to list its cars on the website. The dealer views the marketplace as a fresh avenue to reach customers, on top of its existing marketing efforts.
Ng Choon Wee, commercial director of Komoco Motors, the Hyundai distributor, also told the publication that there are no sales targets set for its participation in the marketplace at the moment.

In a press statement on Sep 9, Grab said that the Car Marketplace was launched to simplify vehicle sourcing, adding that the marketplace will offer “more pathways” for drivers looking to own EVs. More comprehensive vehicle data, including EV-specific diagnostics, may be added to listings belonging to GrabRentals.
The website also advertises the services of digital bank GXS AutoLoan, which is backed by Grab Holdings and telco Singtel.
When asked whether buyers need to take out loans from GXS to finance their purchases from the marketplace, the firm said GXS AutoLoan is “one of the financing options” available to its private-hire drivers, who, according to the GXS AutoLoan webpage, can finance the entire cost of their private-hire car through the scheme.
Subscriptions that already use the service can continue creating, modifying, and managing sync groups and member databases until retirement. Other subscriptions can no longer adopt it.
The service uses a hub-and-spoke model, with an Azure SQL database serving as the hub and other databases joining its synchronization group. Members can be other Azure SQL databases or on-premises SQL Server databases, which require a sync agent. A conflict resolution policy determines whether the hub or member database takes precedence when changes clash.
SQL Data Sync supports scenarios including hybrid environments, in which applications and databases are split between local infrastructure and Azure, as well as geographically distributed applications.

Microsoft acknowledged that customers will need to choose among several possible replacements. It offered little technical explanation for the retirement, referring only to evolving “operational, security, and compliance requirements.”
Microsoft announced the retirement two years ago, but blocking first-time deployments gives customers another reason to begin planning their transition. Microsoft lists alternatives including Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, read replicas, linked servers, database mirroring, availability groups, and transactional replication. However, it noted that “there is no single replacement that maps to every SQL Data Sync configuration.”
Existing users have just over a year to migrate before the final cutoff. Those without a migration plan will need one before the service shuts down. ®
Nifty little AMOLED screens are easy to get nowadays, and [Sophie D] demonstrates they are both thin and light enough to be worn with OpenChoker, a design for a choker necklace that was a hit at DEF CON.
The choker consists of an AMOLED touchscreen flanked by short RGB LED strips. Behind the display is the PCB which contains an RP2350 and micro SD card slot for external storage, and at the rear of the choker is an 18650 cell to power it all. The display plays an eye-catching animation that gets generated on the fly while the LEDs sparkle away.
[Sophie] shares a number of interesting takeaways from designing and building this device. One is that the bulk of the PCB design work was interfacing to the display, since no existing footprint or reference design could be found. So if you find yourself with a Hello Lighting HL020E21-02 2.14″ touchscreen display you’re hankering to use in your own project, do yourself a favor and check out [Sophie]’s board design instead of starting from scratch.

Battery life was more than enough for a device like this. A single 18650 cell powered the choker effortlessly for a 16-hour stretch and still the cell measured a robust 3.7 V. While a light-up choker used indoors isn’t a great candidate for wearable solar power, it’s encouraging that there’s no need for a tethered battery pack.
Another tip to consider relates to the screen’s touch sensitivity. In short, the capacitive touch screen responded perfectly when plugged into a development computer, but when mounted and isolated on the choker it responded so poorly as to be useless. It didn’t keep the rest of the choker from doing its job, but it might be worth keeping in mind as something to watch out for with a device like this.
There’s one final mystery [Sophie] ran into: with only one day to spare, glue used to affix some wires ended up melting away the wire insulation, revealing bare copper. We’re not sure what happened there, but if nothing else it’s a reminder that Murphy’s Law is always ready to strike when one is on a deadline.
Microsoft worries developers are submitting a higher volume of extensions due to AI
It’s already made some review changes, but the Edge team has had to make further changes

Microsoft‘s Edge team has warned that vibe coding has contributed to a sharp rise in extension submissions for the browser simply because developers can build and tweak their extensions far more quickly.
While the company largely sees this as a positive for the Edge ecosystem, which has always struggled against the likes of Chrome, it also worries about the additional pressure its own developers now face.
Even though the team introduced an “expedited review process” in 2025, its “review pipeline has experienced additional strain” and review times are suboptimal.

Edge has seen a huge rise in AI-generated extension submissions
As a result of this additional stress, the company says it’s streamlined how extension submissions move through the review pipeline in order to reduce the amount of time developers wait for approval, but crucially, the changes do not reduce the number of checks or reduce the standards.
One of the changes include the addition of automated systems to identify known policy violations and security issues.
“Our objective is to make Edge the easiest place to build, publish, and grow an extension,” Microsoft wrote, but the company clearly knows Edge falls short of Chrome in terms of outright user adoption.
Per the latest Statcounter figures, Chrome accounts for 71% of all desktop browsing sessions, with Edge in a distant second place with an 11% market share.

At the same time, Microsoft is also making changes to its Featured badge, which assesses extensions across “more than 60 quality signals.” The increasingly automated system will now re-check extensions every 15 days – “With this more frequent cadence, high-quality extensions can earn recognition sooner, and developers receive faster feedback on their investments in quality,” the company added.
Oracle Red Bull Racing put Sebastian Vettel’s 2012 championship RB8 onto Madrid Metro rails this week and drove it through closed tunnels as if a subway line had suddenly become a racetrack. Heritage Team staff and Spanish engineering collective Andtonic did the work at Metro de Madrid’s Canillejas workshops, racing a two-week deadline to finish custom metal wheels before the Spanish Grand Prix weekend at the new Madring circuit.

Patrick Friesacher, a former Minardi driver, took over once passenger service was suspended. Google on Thursday introduced a new password manager switching experience on Android that doesn’t require you to download CSV files when migrating to a new app.
With the new feature, users will be able to move all of their passwords — and even passkeys — between apps seamlessly.
To use the new system, users first open their new password manager app and choose to import or copy passwords from the old manager app. Android will detect manager apps on the device and coordinate transfer between both apps. Users can review the information being transferred and approve it in a few taps.

Because this method also supports passkey transfer, users won’t need to set them up again when moving to a new password manager app. Plus, the company said that this averts the risk of exposing data from a CSV file.
Google said the new experience is already available on select partners as well as in Google’s own password manager app. Bitwarden, 1Password, and Dashlane are currently supported, with more apps coming in the future.

The password manager switching feature will be available on all devices running Android 8 or above.
Instagram is rolling out a small but useful new feature that gives users a little more control over what appears on their profiles. Starting today, you can add posts you’re tagged in directly to your main profile grid.
While it’s not exactly a groundbreaking update, it’s one of those changes that a lot of people will probably find useful. Most of us have experienced coming home from a party, concert, vacation, or night out with friends and going through the shared album, only to realize one of them has already beaten everyone to the punch and posted one of the best group photos, tagging you in the process.
While you could post the same photo yourself, that feels a little awkward. So, now, Instagram has a new solution.
You can add a tagged post to your grid from the DM notification you receive when you’re tagged, directly from the post itself, or through your Tagged tab. If you change your mind later, you can easily remove the post from your profile.

The original post stays exactly where it is. Adding it to your grid doesn’t delete or duplicate the original post, and you can remove it from your profile at any time without removing it from your Tagged tab.

Instagram says the feature could also be useful for creator collaborations, giving creators another way to showcase posts they’ve been tagged in without having to republish the same content or use the “Invite collaborators” option. It could also come in handy for brand campaigns featuring multiple creators who want to highlight a piece of content they were all tagged in on their profiles.
The update is part of a broader push from Instagram to give users more control over how their profiles look. Back in June, Instagram introduced the “Reorder your grid” feature, allowing users to rearrange the content on their main profile grid.
Instagram has also been adding new tools to make creating and managing content easier. One recent addition is “First Draft,” a new editing feature that automatically trims selected video clips and removes pauses, pulling together the best moments into an initial cut.
There’s also the newly launched “Replace Audio” tool, which lets users update the music on an existing post whenever they want.

It’s been one year since Kirk’s death, and conspiracy theories about the shooting have persisted, supercharged by social media algorithms and right-wing influencers like Candace Owens, who has used her huge following to push baseless allegations about the incident.
Experts believe these conspiracy theories will continue for a long time to come. “There’s no reason to believe conspiracy theories about Kirk’s murder will lose steam anytime soon,” Jared Holt, senior researcher at Open Measures, tells WIRED. “If anything, I expect them to escalate further as the criminal trial against Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing Kirk, plays out over the next year or so. The trial is bound to draw major media attention and offer conspiracy theorists a source of new material to work from.”
But ultimately, the baseless claim that persisted is that someone close to Kirk, or operating on behalf of Israel, was responsible for his death, that Robinson was simply a patsy and what really killed Kirk was an exploding microphone. This is the narrative that has been central to Owens’ months-long conspiracy theory campaign. Her Kirk content has racked up hundreds of millions of views.
Owens’ success is fueled in a large part by the way that social media platforms today encourage their users to post content. “X and YouTube are rife with speculation about Kirk’s death, where it is both still possible to recruit new audiences and monetize them,” Joan Donovan, assistant professor of journalism and emerging media studies at Boston University, tells WIRED.
The end result is that Kirk’s death has become yet another rabbit hole, or a way for viewers to distract themselves from reality. “Candace and other conspiratorial influencers make things seem much more mysterious and exciting,” Renée DiResta, an associate research professor at Georgetown University who tracks disinformation, tells WIRED. “For many, her explanations are preferable to the reality of an act of violence by a solo individual.”
There have already been real world repercussions: Researchers at the Network Contagion Research Institute recently found that “Candace Owens caused a measurable, statistically significant surge in death threats and calls for violence against [Charlie Kirk’s wife] Erika Kirk.” In May, a man was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill Erica Kirk ahead of her appearance at a Turning Point USA event in San Antonio, though the man has yet to be charged. Owens did not respond to a request for comment.

Erica Kirk and Turning Point have repeatedly called for Owens and others to stop spreading baseless rumours about the assassination. While those calls have not been heeded, Turning Point believes the impact the conspiracy theories are having is fading.
“The conspiracy theories have much less reach and potency now than they did six months ago, and I think I’ll say the same six months from now,” Andrew Kolvet, a Turning Point spokesperson, tells WIRED. “They won’t stop because many of these personalities were completely unknown and broke before Charlie was killed and this is their money maker, but their influence and credibility has collapsed and will continue to do so.”
But some experts disagree, arguing that conspiratorial thinking has been an aspect of American life for decades.
“Historically, this is quite normal,” Joseph Uscinski, professor of political science at the University of Miami and author of American Conspiracy Theories, tells WIRED. “Majorities of Americans have believed for decades that JFK was killed by a conspiracy rather than by a lone gunman. In fact almost 80 percent of Americans believed in the 1970s there was a conspiracy behind the assassination.”

Google claims the Pixel Watch 5 has the “best GPS” of a smartwatch
The Pixel Watch 5 is fitted with dual-band GPS that’s powered by machine learning, which Google claims is the best of any smartwatch. In addition, Google claims a 2x improvement in accuracy specifically in urban environments by utilising data from Google Maps. If you’ve ever tried to navigate your way through a city packed with skyscrapers, you’ll know how difficult it can be to follow a route.

While overall we found the Pixel Watch 5 to accurately track our outdoor runs and walks, we did see a few wobbles through Canary Wharf. Even so, generally the device is accurate and most users won’t be disappointed.
We haven’t reviewed the Apple Watch Series 12’s GPS ability yet, however we did find that last year’s Apple Watch Series 11’s GPS “consistently locks in quickly” to accurately track a route. With that in mind, we expect a similar performance with the newer Watch Series 12.

So what’s behind Apple’s accuracy claims? Essentially it’s Apple’s new Health Sensing System which features new optical and electrical heart sensors plus larger LEDs that measure heart rate every five seconds. In addition, the Apple Watch Series 12 now measures HRV up to 24 times more often too, so you can gain wider insight into your stress and recovery.
Google Pixel Watch 5 promises longer battery
Neither Apple nor Google are famed for their industry-leading battery life promises and, although there have been some improvements, it’s a similar story with their 2026 flagship wearables. While the Apple Watch Series 12 promises 24 hours of life between charges, which is unchanged from last year’s Apple Watch Series 11, the Pixel Watch 5 promises 40 hours.
In fact, we found in our review that we could eke out even more than Google’s promise, and found we saw 45-50 hours between charges – though that was for the larger 45mm variant.

Both wearables also offer fast charging too. While a 15-minute top-up will give the Apple Watch Series 12 an additional 12 hours of battery, the Pixel Watch 5 sees 40 hours with the same amount of time.

Apple Intelligence vs Gemini Intelligence
The Apple Watch Series 12 runs on Apple’s own S11 processor which is hailed as the brand’s “most powerful wearable chip”. The processor enables the Apple Watch to accurately track health and fitness metrics, plus powers Apple’s new Audio Intelligence features too.

Audio Intelligence is new the Apple Watch Series 12 and utilises the wearable’s built-in microphone for tools including Sound Recognition which detects sirens, doorbells and other alerts that you should be aware of, Live Rewind which lets you go back by 15 seconds to catch something you may have missed, and Siri recap which actively takes notes for your conversations.
Apple has claimed that you can control when Siri Recap is listening, and the Apple Watch Series 12 doesn’t store recordings on-device either.

Otherwise, the Pixel Watch 5 is fitted with Google’s Gemini Intelligence. We’ve concluded that Gemini is one of the most useful smartwatch assistants around, as it responds to queries quickly and accurately. Gemini Intelligence also powers the Google Health app – specifically Google Health Coach that’s found within the Premium subscription. With Google Health Coach, you’ll receive personalised insights into your data alongside advice on how to reach your fitness goals.
It’s an additional £7.99/$9.99 a month and, though it isn’t a necessary add-on, we would recommend it as it works brilliantly.
Early Verdict
The main deciding factor between the Apple Watch Series 12 and Google Pixel Watch 5 will ultimately come down to whether you’re sporting an iOS or Android phone. However, if you have some flexibility then there are additional factors that might influence your decision.

If you’re planning to use your vehicle for some light off-roading, you’ll likely need all-terrain tires, which are designed to drive over dirt, sand, and mud rather than smooth pavement and urban landscapes. For this reason, all-terrain tires are meant to be extremely durable. They’re made with stronger materials, have three-ply sidewalls, and deeper grooves for handling and grip.
Thanks to their durable construction, all-terrain tires generally last longer than a standard highway tire if you plan on taking your car off-roading. You can expect about 40,000 to 60,000 miles for the average all-terrain tire, although the exact mileage you get out of a set of tires depends on your vehicle model, how often you go off-roading, and your tire maintenance. All-terrain tires often cost more money than standard tires, so you’ll pay more up front (except with these budget-friendly all-terrain tire options) — but won’t have to replace your tires as often if you plan to routinely go off-roading.

Are all-terrain tires okay on the highway?

While all-terrain tires have standard tires beat when it comes to dirt, gravel, and sand, it’s a different story if you’re largely using your vehicle for highway driving. If you’re strictly sticking to the road, standard tires last longer – roughly 70,000 miles if you’re just commuting. Meanwhile, all-terrain tires are likely not the best for highway driving, as they can often make more noise on the pavement due to air passing through the deeper tread. There’s also a chance that the same tread pattern could reduce your vehicle’s fuel efficiency since they increase the force pushing against your tire, or the rolling resistance. You won’t see any all-terrain tires when it comes to our list of fuel-efficient tires.
If you want your all-terrain tires to last longer, make sure they’re the right air pressure for your vehicle, rotate the tires every 5,000 to 8,000 miles, and reduce your aggressive driving behaviors. Proper care can increase the tires’ mileage for even more outdoor adventures.
After years of speculation, the iPhone Duo is finally here. It’s Apple’s biggest launch since the iPhone X, so people, including me, were quite excited. The Duo has a 7.6-inch book-style display, a titanium chassis, and a brand-new A20 Pro chip built on a 2nm process.
The timing is no coincidence. Just weeks earlier, Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 8, its eighth-generation foldable that also introduced a new passport-style design. Rather than the tall, narrow form factor of previous Galaxy Folds, the Fold 8 is shorter and wider, almost identical to the direction Apple has chosen for the iPhone Duo. But despite an almost decade-long head start, who wins in a battle of the Z Fold 8 vs the iPhone Duo? Here’s how they stack up.
You Can’t Go Wrong With Either Design
Until recently, all Samsung foldables had a tall aspect ratio. But when reports circulated that Apple would adopt the passport-like design, Samsung quickly followed with the Z Fold 8. Both devices unfold into a 7.6-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Apple edges ahead on paper with slightly higher display resolution, while Samsung keeps a marginally larger 5.5-inch outer display compared to Apple’s 5.4-inch cover screen.
One interesting twist is the display technology itself. Samsung manufactures the OLED panels found in the iPhone Duo, and both phones now feature advanced anti-reflective coatings. Samsung calls it anti-reflective glass, while Apple brands its version as a nano-texture finish. The result should be much better visibility outdoors than previous foldables. Both have fingerprint scanners on the sides, which is great for non-Face ID fans. Apple’s camera bump is horizontal, which should help with the wobble issue on the table.
One notable difference, though, is that Apple adopted an under-screen camera on the inner screen of the iPhone Duo. If you remember, Samsung used to do the same, but ditched it a couple of generations back because the inner selfie quality suffered so much. We will have to wait and see how Apple circumnavigates the problem.

Performance and cameras: Apple’s silicon takes the lead
Apple claims the A20 Pro delivers a 40% faster GPU and 50% higher memory bandwidth over the previous A19 Pro. Since the A19 was already competitive with Qualcomm’s best silicon, the new chip should push ahead in both sustained gaming and creative workloads. While Samsung will likely respond with a next-generation Snapdragon later this year, the Fold 8 launches with Qualcomm’s current flagship processor.
Camera hardware is more balanced. Neither phone tries to replace their respective Ultra models, and both skip a dedicated long-range telephoto lens. Samsung equips the Fold 8 with two 50MP sensors—a wide and an ultrawide, while Apple opts for 48MP wide and 48MP ultrawide cameras. The difference will likely come down to image processing, not megapixels.
Selfies tell a different story. Samsung includes two 10MP cameras, one on the cover display and another ultrawide shooter inside for video calls. Apple pairs a 12MP cover camera with an under-display internal camera primarily designed for FaceTime
Battery, charging and multitasking: Samsung still owns productivity
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 can run three full apps side by side, alongside floating windows for additional applications. Users can drag files between apps, pin frequently used windows, and even connect the phone to an external monitor for a desktop-like experience through Samsung DeX. It’s easily one of the most capable productivity phones ever made.
Apple introduces split-screen multitasking for the first time on iPhone with iOS 27. The Duo supports two resizable apps simultaneously, and users can save favorite app pairs for quick access later. It’s a significant leap for iPhone users, but it still feels like the first generation of a feature Samsung has been perfecting for years.
Battery specifications are also uneven. Samsung includes a 4,800mAh battery with 45W wired and 20W wireless charging. Apple hasn’t revealed the iPhone Duo’s battery capacity, instead quoting 31 hours of video playback on the inner display and 44 hours on the outer screen. MagSafe charging reaches 25W, but wired charging speeds remain unconfirmed.

We Will See About Durability
Durability has always been the biggest concern with foldable phones, and it’s too early to comment anything on the iPhone Duo’s durability. Still, the Duo carries an IP68 rating, making it resistant to both dust and water in ways that most foldables still aren’t. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 is rated IP48, meaning it handles water well but offers limited protection against dust particles. Both phones also feature titanium construction and reinforced hinge designs
Price, however, swings back in Samsung’s favor. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at $1,900 for the 256GB model and tops out around $2,500 for the 1TB version with 16GB RAM. Apple’s iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 and climbs all the way to $3,199 for the 2TB variant. The Duo is also much more expensive in other markets like India, which suggests Apple is absorbing higher DRAM prices in Western markets.
