King Charles has sparked fury from GB News live audience members after sharing a rare message on energy transition that was read by Net Zero Secretary Ed Miliband at a summit focused on the future of energy security.
The monarch’s intervention has prompted criticism from a GB News audience member who questioned whether the King should be involving himself in political matters.
“I do wonder why the King wrote this letter for Ed,” audience member Sarah said. “Shouldn’t the monarchy stay out of politics?”
She added: “I believe the Queen would be turning in her grave.”

The King, who has long been known for his interest in environmental issues, emphasised the importance of well-managed transitions to more sustainable energy sources in his message.
Miliband told summit attendees that the event was “something that [King Charles] was very much personally interested in”.

In his message, the King stated: “As we all navigate the transition to cleaner energy for our planet and energy security for our citizens, summits such as these are of vital importance in facilitating shared learning between nations.”
He particularly highlighted the importance of collaboration with “the global south and across the Commonwealth.”
The monarch noted that recent events have demonstrated how well-managed transitions can lead to “more resilient and secure energy systems.”
On the People’s Channel, presenter Emily Carver agreed with the audience member and said: “I think there’s a real difference, isn’t there, between King Charles talking about planting more trees, or encouraging us to pick up litter at the beach or in our town centres, and him weighing in on something like net zero.
“It’s a very contested issue, deeply political, and he shouldn’t be stepping into that arena at all.
“And also, Ed Miliband he’s a very controversial cabinet minister at the moment.
“A lot of people out there think he’s going in completely the wrong direction when it comes to his net zero zealotry.
“I believe the Queen would be turning in her grave,” the audience member asked during the programme.
