A GB News presenter was left in hysterics after a Liberal Democrat reluctantly admitted there is a “Brexit bonus” in relation to Donald Trump’s new tariffs on imports.

GB News’ Martin Daubney pressed former Lib Dem MP Mark Oaten on whether Brexit had delivered a benefit, as the UK faces 10 per cent tariffs compared to 20 per cent for EU countries.

After initially resisting, Oaten finally conceded: “Oh a little one then. Martin you dragged it out of me,” leaving the host in stitches.

The admission came during a discussion about Trump’s sweeping new tariff policies, which have sent shockwaves through global markets.

Speaking to GB News, Oaten said: “Donald Trump has come along and started to break down free trade. Liberal Democrats still want free trade.

“We wouldn’t want to be in this position. But there’s a reality check here. We have to be seen to be doing something.

“We have to support our local communities, and there is nothing illiberal about wanting to back your local community to invest in local businesses. That’s not a Brexit issue.

“That’s a patriotic issue about supporting some fantastic talent, whether it’s in the fashion industry, whether it’s some of the best farming that we have in the globe.

“I think that’s entirely consistent with a liberal policy, which also, incidentally, is about sustainable buying. If we’re not travelling around the globe, if we’re not bringing products across on planes and in boats, it’s actually more sustainable to be buying locally. So for me, this ticks a lot of boxes.”

Martin said: “Mark, I have never agreed more with a Liberal Democrat in my life. And as we’re getting on so well, can I ask you a quick question? Do you concur there’s been a Brexit bonus?

“We should be thankful to Brexit because we haven’t been hit by 20 per cent tariffs.

“We’ve only been hit by a 10 per cent. Come on Mark, you’re going for Brexit today. Admit there’s been a Brexit bonus.

Oaten said: “You’re pushing the love a little bit too much. I would argue that all of the things which have gone wrong outweigh this difference. We have between 20 and 10 per cent. But I have to say on this, I think [Keir] Starmer is playing it correctly.”

Speaking at a Republican fundraising dinner in Washington, Trump boasted that world leaders are “kissing my a**e” in hopes of securing trade deals with the United States.

“I am telling you, these countries are calling us up, kissing my a**e,” Trump said. “They are dying to make a deal. ‘Please, please sir, make a deal. I’ll do anything sir.'”

His comments came as markets reacted dramatically to the new tariffs.
