Police investigating the terror attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue have arrested a suspect at Manchester Airport. A 31-year-old man has detained on suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism after arriving on an inbound flight, Greater Manchester Police confirmed. Plans to build a new Metrolink stop and tram line for Manchester Airport are being seriously considered,the Local Democracy Reporting Service has learned. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is weighing up constructing a Metrolink station for Manchester Airport’s new £1.3bn Terminal 2 building. Andy Burnham is ‘disappointed’ after the government dropped ‘massively important’ changes to the taxi licensing system. The mayor has long campaigned for a ban on out-of-area taxi working, which happens when a driver licensed by one council routinely works in another part of the country. Notably, nearly half of minicabs in Greater Manchester are registered outside the city-region, with more than one in 10 English private hire taxis licensed by Wolverhampton council alone. Gary Neville’s development company has ‘secured the long-term future’ of the ‘Manchester landmark’ Kendals. The United legend’s company, Relentless, will redevelop the art deco department store which enticed shoppers for generations after the building opened in 1939. Mobile phone footage captured violence erupting among students at Stockport College today. The footage captured one student screaming repeatedly ‘oh my god’ as boys aimed kicks and punches at each other, first inside the college and then on a concourse outside. Security guards in hi-vis jackets and other staff can be seen struggling to stop the fight, said to have started when two students clashed. We have more on this here.
