Rihanna Seemingly Addresses Baby Rumors, Talks "Little Pouch"

Whew! Drama is heating up again, and this time GloRilla stepped into the spotlight. Just hours after her sister Victoria Woods went viral with a video and Facebook posts accusing the famous rapper of neglecting her and her 10 siblings since striking it big, GloRilla seemingly clapped back — in true social media style.

Glo Responds With Alleged Text From Amid Sibling Drama

Just hours after her sister Victoria Woods made waves with a video and Facebook posts accusing the famous rapper of neglecting the family and her 10 siblings since hitting it big, GloRilla appeared to respond — and she did it in classic social media fashion. GloRilla shared a screenshot on Instagram Story that appeared to show a message from their mom. The contact name read “Ma Nem,” and the message appeared to thank GloRilla for all that she does, praising her for always helping the family.

“Thank You so very very much!!! Really didn’t want to ask because you already do so much for us. I thank you so very very much for all that you do. I don’t take it for granted at all!” Her mother seemingly continued, “I Really do Love and Appreciate You so very much! God Bless you for your honor, respect, kindness and love shown to me! You’re such a blessing to me. When I become a millionaire, I GOT YOU!!! Meanwhile I’ll prayerfully keep you in God’s hands continually.”

Glo’s Texts Spark A Heated Fan Debate

Fans flooded TSR’s Instagram comments, spilling their thoughts on the viral text message. Some called it “off” or said moms just don’t text like that, while others reminded everyone that Glorious isn’t obligated to do anything. A few speculated she probably kept getting asked for stuff until she finally put her foot down, and the comment section was buzzing with opinions.

One Instagram user @ilovetmonet said, “She don’t have to take care of yall over grown ahh people fr!! Get up and go get it just like she had to do go

This Instagram user @brii.treniere commented, “Exactly. Somebody mad about not getting anymore handouts 🤏🏾😌”

And, Instagram user @globallymontero added, “this why yall need to stay out of ppl business especially when you don’t know them lmao

Meanwhile, Instagram user @tina_uhhhh_belcher wrote, “Idk man something seems off with the text message…I just can’t figure out what it is.

While Instagram user @ct_femalepaperchaser joked, “First time i say no it’s like i never said yes 😂😂 or whatever Beyonce said 😂😂”

Lastly, Instagram user @beiluj_ added “Idk but that don’t look like a momma text lol

Victoria Questions Rapper’s Texts

The moment GloRilla posted the text from their mom, Victoria Woods was quick to clap back. In a clip obtained by SayCheeseTV, she called out the text message, insisting their mom doesn’t text like that. Additionally, Victoria seemingly made it clear she wasn’t buying Glo’s humble flex. And you already know…fans immediately caught the subtle sibling tension unfolding in real time. And, Victoria Woods continued to take her claims straight to live.

Victoria Doubles Down On Glo Claims, Jabs Yo Gotti Too

In another set of videos, Victoria continued to call out Glo for not financially supporting the family. She also insisted that it’s her responsibility, and even threw subtle shots at Yo Gotti—whose label, Collective Music Group, GloRilla joined in July 2022. Victoria even taunted her sister over missing out on a Grammy or VMA. Furthermore, she refused to be defined just as the rapper’s sister, exposing the tension in their relationship.

Drake Bell is firmly in is nostalgia era and fans are loving every second of it. Fresh off a “Drake & Josh” mini reunion in Las Vegas, he kept the throwbacks coming with a surprise link up with another Nickelodeon star from the 90s on the show’s iconic set before it gets torn down.

Bell shared a few videos on social media that sent longtime viewers into a nostalgic frenzy. Between the unexpected reunions and the viral moments, it’s a full-circle vibe that’s hitting many right in their childhood memories.

About a week ago, Josh Peck, the other half of the infamous “Drake & Josh,” shared a photo on Instagram that instantly grabbed attention. Simply captioned, “Dads,” the photo is of Peck with Bell posing in the Poodle Room at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas. It didn’t take long for the likes to start popping up and nostalgia to fill the comment section.

The Fontainebleau wrote what we were all thinking, “The reunion we needed.” M Resort, also in Las Vegas, simply said, “Reuniteddd.”

One viewer said, “We can achieve world peace.” Another person added, “Yoo throwback to my childhood! Just missing Megan here.” And one other shared, “Hug me brothers.” One viewer let the nostalgia get the best of the situation saying, “Ages 12-15 these dudes carried my life.”

There were also requests to do another show together.

“PLEASE MAKE A NEW SHOW WHERE Y’ALL ARE THE DADS!” one person wrote. Another added, “If Hannah Montana can do it, our brothas can do it.” Another viewer said, “We don’t even need a whole show a 30-minute special would suffice in my heart.”

Bell did an Instagram Live with another walk down memory lane for fans. And this Live happened just before he was heading to Vegas (where we now know he spent some time with Peck.)

“All the same. This is the same paint. This was all a big raised stage,” Bell said before he explained where he was at. “You’re not gonna believe this. I just got into Nick on Sunset. It’s completely shut down. They’re tearing this place down, and I got in, and here I am.”

He then panned over to where the “Drake & Josh” bedroom and living room sets were at while filming, as well as the green room and other well-known spots from the hit Nickelodeon show.

Bell then told a fun nostalgic story. You could hear it in his voice that he was really going back to relive some good times.

“You know that picture that I have of Josh and I have like a cigarette, and I ask someone for a cigarette. I thought it would be funny because it says, ‘No Smoking,’ so I was like ‘hey, give me a cigarette,’” he said. “And I just have like a cigarette in my hand, but yeah dude, the ‘No Smoking’ sign’s right there from the picture, dude.”

When reminded how many years ago it was, Bell said, “it feels like yesterday” and “it feels like we’re on hiatus and they’re gonna bring all the sets back and everything’s gonna be built, and we’re gonna start in September.”

Bell continued to walk around the set, sharing which part of the “Drake & Josh” rooms they are in. He got super excited when he realized he was in their old bedroom.

“This is where I climb up the ladder,” he reminisced. “The bed is like a little further back. Red couch is right here.”

He said “the hairs are raising off” as he showed his arm and said, “I can’t even talk.” His tour continued with him visibly going back to a time that has so many nostalgic memories for him.

Bell said that while he was in LA, he thought he would try to get inside Nick on Sunset and was surprised that he was able to. He shared stories about his time on that set and was clearly blown away with the memories that surfaced.

After walking through the building, he said, “I don’t want to leave.” He then instantly gasped when he stumbled into the casting office and sharing that “it’s the same.”

“This is where you would audition if you audition for ‘Drake & Josh,’” he shockingly said. “This is unreal.”

As he continued to search around his old stomping ground where his career really took off so many years ago, you could see just how this little tour was affecting him in his feels.

“I’m out of breath. This is unbelievable. This is all my childhood,” he said. “This is all my memories.”

His Instagram Live that can now be viewed on his IG page as a post, continued with more memories and more inside stories about Bell’s time on the show.

During the Live, he called his TV dad, Jonathan Goldstein, which brought even more nostalgia and memories for not only Bell but also for the fans watching.

Fans Had A Lot To Say About Drake Bell’s Walk Down Memory Lane

Bell’s Live captured tons of attention from fans who loved seeing him walk down the “Drake & Josh” memory lane and with so much enthusiasm and love.

“So cool. Love how excited you are,” one fan wrote. Another said, “How heartbreaking and beautiful for you. What a healing experience!!!! You’re the best.”

And there were many other comments that shared the same vibe.

“Thanks for saving the live and sharing the enthusiasm,” one viewer said. Another wrote, “Love how him and Jonathan actually have a father/son relationship.” One other shared, “FULL CIRCLE MOMENT.”

Cue One More Nostalgic Moment

@drakebell

Wow I thought this place was torn down! This is where we shot it all! Nick On Sunset! We were walking by and never thought that it’d be so simple to get in but we found a way!

♬ Found a Way – Drake Bell

As if that all wasn’t enough to send 90s Nickelodeon fans into a total frenzy, Bell shared a TikTok video to top it off.

“Wow I thought this place was torn down! This is where we shot it all! Nick On Sunset! We were walking by and never thought that it’d be so simple to get in but we found a way!” he captioned the video set to his hit song, “Found a Way.”

But that’s not all – there’s a special guest in the video with Bell that had everyone in their feels. The video was filmed on the old set at Nick on Sunset with another beloved Nick star.

“First: I will never not support Drake Bell. Second: IS THAT VICTORIA JUSTICE?” one fan wrote in the comments. Another said, “Drake and Victoria?!!” And one other wrote, “Blessed by the Nickelodeon legends.”

The same video was also shared on Bell’s IG page, where fans also had the same excitement for the duo reuniting.

“Drake and Victoria? I love everything about this,” one person wrote. Another said, “We want them to do a musical collaboration!!! Drake Bell ft. Victoria Justice.” One other viewer shared something many were likely thinking, “The crossover we didn’t know we needed. This heals me.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Son Joseph Baena Wins Bodybuilding Competition

Published

on

Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s son Joseph Baena emerged victorious in several categories for his bodybuilding debut.

Although Joseph primarily grew up with his housekeeper mother, Mildred Baena, he’s the only child who has mostly taken after his famous father, who also won several bodybuilding competitions back in the day.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has also returned to the gym, as reports suggest he’ll be appearing on the third installment of “Conan the Barbarian.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Son Follows In His Footsteps With Major Win

Schwarzenegger’s love child, Baena, followed in his father’s footsteps as he made his competitive bodybuilding debut at the NPC Natural Colorado State competition and won in several categories.

The event, which was held on Saturday at Pinnacle Performing Arts Center in Denver, Colorado, saw Joseph emerge victorious in the Men’s Open Bodybuilding Heavy Weight Class, Men’s Classic Physique True Novice, and Men’s Classic Physique Novice. He cemented his dominant display by clinching the silver medal in the Men’s Classic Physique Open Class C.

Joseph’s success comes just days after he and his father were seen in the gym perfecting one of the “Commando” star’s signature moves.

In photos obtained by the news outlet, a shirtless Joseph can be seen flexing his muscles as Schwarzenegger attempted to help him perfect his posture.

Joseph Baena Talked About How Supportive Arnold Schwarzenegger Has Been

Earlier this month, Joseph revealed that he packed on 18lbs of muscle in just eight weeks.

According to reports, athletes who enroll for the competition not only undergo drug tests, but also take a 30-minute polygraph to ensure they haven’t taken any performance enhancers.

In his heydays, his father, Schwarzenegger, was much the same, winning seven Mr. Olympia titles before transforming into one of Hollywood’s top action stars, and eventually politics.

Joseph previously spoke about how the former California governor has been supportive of his career and what it means to him.

“He’s an amazing father. He’s a great person to look up to, and he’s the smartest man I know,” the half-Guatemalan athlete told ET in 2023. “It’s been a great journey, and he’s always been so supportive of whatever I do. So, I’m just really grateful to have a dad like him.”

Back in 2011, Schwarzenegger confessed that he secretly fathered Joseph after a “one-night stand” with his former housekeeper, Mildred Baena.

The revelation brought about the end of his 25-year marriage to Maria Shriver, and their divorce was finalized in 2021.

The former couple shares four children: Katherine, Christina, Patrick, and Christopher.

Joseph seems bent on making his father proud, but doing it in his own way, as he doesn’t want handouts.

He and the veteran actor first bonded over their love for fitness, and the action star gifted him a copy of “The Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding,” which he co-authored in 1985.

“My dad is old-school; he doesn’t believe in handouts. He believes hard work pays off, and so do I,” he told Men’s Health in 2022.

Joseph continued, “I love the word honour, and I’m very prideful in the sense that if I use my dad’s contacts or ask him for favours, I wonder what honour is that gonna bring me?”

Arnold Schwarzenegger To Reprise Role In Third Installment Of ‘Conan The Barbarian’

Meanwhile, Schwarzenegger would be reprising his decade-long role as Conan in a third installment of “Conan the Barbarian.”

The 78-year-old actor has reportedly returned to the gym in order to prepare for the role, many years after he did justice to the first part.

He announced earlier this month at the Arnold sports festival in Columbus, Ohio, that director Christopher McQuarrie, best known for his work on the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, would be in charge of bringing Conan to life.

“It’s a great story,” he said, explaining that after sitting on the throne for 40 years, “Conan gets complacent, and now he gets forced out of the kingdom, slowly. Then there’s conflict, of course, and then he somehow comes back, and then there’s all kinds of madness and violence and magic and creatures.”

“Now, of course, you have all the special effects, and the studio system has plenty of money to make those movies really big,” he added, per The Guardian.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Has Been ‘Pushing Himself To The Limits’ For His Upcoming Role

A source told the National Enquirer that Schwarzenegger has been “pushing himself to the limits” to be ready for the role, as it depends on him “really looking like a legendary barbarian-slash-king.”

“Gold’s Gym just sold almost all of their L.A. locations, but they held the original gym in Venice, where Arnold still works out to this day,” the source said.

They added, “That’s where he’s going to forge the body to take on this role again, come hell or high water! Failure is not an option.”

Schwarzenegger made one of such returns to acting in 2019 for “Terminator: Dark Fate,” although it didn’t perform well. He has other works in the pipeline like “Kung Fury 2,” alongside Michael Fassbender, and “The Man With the Bag.”

Pro golfer Gary Woodland and his wife, Gabby, have been together for at least 15 years — married for 10 — and have rarely left each other’s sides.

The couple share three kids together, Jaxson, Maddox and Lennox.

Gary and Gabby have had their fair share of ups and downs throughout the years — from the highs of Gary’s golf triumphs, to the lows of his struggles with recovering from his 2023 brain surgery — but they have stuck together through it all and seem to be stronger than ever.

On March 29, 2026, Gary won the Texas Children’s Houston Open, his first PGA Tour win since the surgery and his fifth career PGA win.

Prime Video’s 3-Part Fantasy Series Is One of the Best on Any Streaming Platform

Published

on

Tigraine Mantear (Magdalena Sittova) in The Wheel of Time Season 1

There are many thrilling fantasy series available to stream these days, but Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time is undeniably among the best. The three-season epic is based on Robert Jordan‘s lengthy book series of the same name, which provides all the action fantasy fans could ask for. First premiering in 2021, The Wheel of Time was one of the many shows aiming to take Game of Thrones‘ place after the HBO series ended, but it doesn’t try to replicate what came before, carving its own path with a sprawling fantasy world full of magic and unique lore.

The Wheel of Time features an ever-growing ensemble cast, beginning with a group of five small-town friends whom the enigmatic Aes Sedai Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) whisks away after realizing they have important roles to play in the coming conflict against the Dark One. This concept provides a high-stakes story full of unexpected twists. Although the series should have continued much longer, its three seasons have a lot to offer. With an expansive world, a unique story, and lovable characters, The Wheel of Time ranks among the best fantasy series around, despite not reaching the level of popularity others have.

‘The Wheel of Time’ Boasts an Expansive Fantasy World for Its Unique Story

The Wheel of Time quickly introduces a massive world, with deep lore and an impressive range of cultures that enrich the narrative. The overarching plotline features the characters getting wrapped up in a centuries-old battle between good and evil, as Rand (Josha Stradowski), Egwene (Madeleine Madden), Matt (Barney Harris and Dónal Finn), Nynaeve (Zoë Robins), and Perrin (Marcus Rutherford) each become central figures in the fight against rising darkness. With the Dark One’s followers, the Forsaken, chasing the heroes as they travel the world, no one is ever safe.

These lethal stakes add heightened drama to the story, which the series takes advantage of, introducing several elaborate cultures ranging from the Aiel to the Seanchan. These societies have their own priorities, fashions, histories, and approach to magic, which makes each new culture a compelling addition to the series, but also highlights just how difficult a task it is for Rand and his friends to unite the world in their war against the Dark One.

Tigraine Mantear (Magdalena Sittova) in The Wheel of Time Season 1

Prime Video’s Perfect 3-Part Fantasy Series Rewrites the Rules of the Genre

In a rare combination of epic scale and individual storytelling, one episode redefines the rules of fantasy worldbuilding.

‘The Wheel of Time’s Characters Make the Fantasy Show a Must-Watch

While its thrilling story is reason alone to binge the series, The Wheel of Time wouldn’t be nearly as successful without its lovable characters and talented cast. Each lead has a distinct trait — Rand is protective; Matt, humorous; Nynaeve, stubborn; Perrin, quietly strong; and Egwene, ambitious — making the characters relatable while occasionally creating conflict. Though the cast grows quickly, the core characters remain the center of the story, becoming the heart of the series as they navigate their destinies alongside increasing political scheming. This allows the audience to become attached to each character, elevating the emotional investment as each of them embarks on dangerous missions.

Although it only ran for three seasons, Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time allowed its characters to grow into the leaders that the world needs through costly trials and heartbreaking losses. Throughout the series, the actors earn tremendous moments to display their characters’ evolution, such as Egwene’s Season 2 arc, where she truly comes into her power, or Perrin’s acceptance of his role as a leader in Season 3. With so many elements to the characters’ various journeys all playing into an epic conflict, Prime Video’s adaptation manages to balance both individual stories and world-shifting stakes. The Wheel of Time may have taken some time to reach its peak, but the three-season series delivers everything that fantasy fans could ask for.

Britney Spears Spends Time On A Yacht With Sons Weeks After DUI Arrest

Published

Pop star Britney Spears is back on Instagram a few short weeks after her DUI arrest in early March. The “Oops!… I Did It Again” singer was pulled over after she was suspected of driving under the influence. Although her hearing is not until May, plenty of fans are hoping that she will get the help that she needs before then. She seems to have the support of her family; however, her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, have been spending time with her since her arrest.

Britney deactivated her Instagram account shortly before her arrest, but she returned to share a few photos and videos with her sons on March 27. In one video that looks like it was taken in the living room of her Thousand Oaks home, Britney can be seen posing with her son as they film selfie videos in various mirrors.

In the caption, Britney made sure to thank her followers for their support. “Thank you guys for all your support… spending time with family and friends is such a blessing !! Stay kind !!!” she wrote alongside a string of five rose emojis to represent her favorite flower.

She posted another follow-up video on Instagram with similar video clips spliced together to make a longer video. This one was captioned, “Stay kind,” with a single red rose emoji.

On March 29, two days later, she shared two photos that featured her posing for a still photo with her son. She can be seen wearing white shorts and a frilly pink crop top, along with dark sunglasses. She didn’t write anything in the caption of this post, but she did add four emojis.

Britney Reminds Her Fans That It’s Been ‘Five Years’

She followed that up with a video of her posing with both of her sons. They can clearly be seen on a yacht together before Britney starts dancing for the camera. “Get them with that look u know,” she wrote. “I know I gotta stay cool.” She finished off her caption with a long string of different emoji faces.

Hours later, she posted a third video that featured her wearing a white bikini top and neon green bottoms. It seems that she was in a bit of a “Titanic” mood, as she captioned the post, “I’m flying, I’m flying, Jack.”

She then added, “I better stay present whenever I can. I should disappear for how slow they went on that boat … I can still dream folks !!! PS… it’s been five years, JUST SAYING!” Five years might be a reference to her controversial 13-year conservatorship, which began in February 2008 and ended in November 2021, after it was struck down by a judge.

Mathew Rosengart became Britney’s lawyer following the resignation of her court-appointed attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III. In 2021, the former federal prosecutor was able to get her estranged father, Jamie Spears, removed as her conservator only two months before it was terminated entirely.

In addition to ending her 13-year conservatorship, he also helped her publish her 2023 memoir, “The Woman In Me,” and secure other lucrative deals at a time when Britney was struggling to take control over her own finances. The two parted ways professionally in 2024, after Britney and Jamie settled their court case and officially ended the conservatorship battle once and for all.

Although many have expressed concern for the “Lucky” singer’s health following her DUI arrest in early March, Rosengart seemed sure that Britney would take the “right steps” going forward in a brief statement that he made to Us Weekly approximately two weeks after her arrest.

“It was my great honor to work with and protect Britney as her litigator, and I will always be proud of her and the work we did together, ranging from helping, at her request and direction, to restore her freedom, civil rights and civil liberties after a 13-year conservatorship that stripped her of those rights, to many other matters,” he said.

“Britney is and always will be an icon,” he continued. “While I do not have the facts concerning March 4, with freedom comes responsibility, and I was pleased to see that Britney will take the right steps and comply with the law. I’ll always care greatly about her and help and support her in any way I can.”

Britney Spears Felt Like A ‘Child-Robot’ During Her Conservatorship

In an excerpt from “The Woman In Me” shared with PEOPLE magazine ahead of the book’s publication, Britney recalled becoming a “child-robot” during her conservatorship.

“I became a robot. But not just a robot — a sort of child-robot. I had been so infantilized that I was losing pieces of what made me feel like myself,” she wrote. “The conservatorship stripped me of my womanhood, made me into a child. I became more of an entity than a person onstage. I had always felt music in my bones and my blood; they stole that from me.”

“The woman in me was pushed down for a long time. They wanted me to be wild onstage, the way they told me to be, and to be a robot the rest of the time. I felt like I was being deprived of those good secrets of life — those fundamental supposed sins of indulgence and adventure that make us human,” she continued. “They wanted to take away that specialness and keep everything as rote as possible. It was death to my creativity as an artist.”

Mandel is doing a 180 after the sharp response he made to Ripa about his appearance during a recent TV interview.

In an Instagram video shared on March 28, the 70-year-old comedian admitted he had been going back and forth about whether to address the moment publicly.

While he explained that he generally doesn’t believe comedians should apologize for jokes, he acknowledged that sometimes humor doesn’t land as intended.

“It is a joke, it is meant as a joke, and it’s not meant to offend,” he said. “You can not like it and, in all my years in the business, I haven’t ever publicly apologized for [a joke].”

The moment in question happened during his appearance on “Live With Kelly and Mark” on March 23. Ripa, alongside her husband Mark Consuelos, praised Mandel’s youthful look, saying it “doesn’t make any sense” that he was 70.

Mandel, however, didn’t take the compliment well at the time, pushing back and suggesting, “It’s like saying you’re smart for a stupid person.”

Although the conversation quickly moved on during the show, Mandel later reflected on his reaction.

In his video, he apologized to Ripa, acknowledging her incredible support over the years and admitting he had not viewed the situation clearly at the moment.

Mandel explained that his goal is always to entertain, but recognized that jokes don’t always land the way they’re intended. He went on to say Ripa was right and expressed regret for his reaction.

“This is hard for me, but this is for Kelly Ripa, who in the past has been incredibly supportive,” Mandel stated in his Instagram video. “Not only have I been a guest on her show, but I have cohosted with her, and I have known her for years.”

“Not only do I want to say, ‘I’m sorry,’ to Kelly, but … you’re right. You’re absolutely right, and I’m sorry I didn’t see it that way,” Mandel added about his reaction to the actress’s compliment.

For her part, Ripa reportedly remains unsettled by the on-air exchange. According to an insider speaking to Rob Shuter’s “Naughty But Nice” Substack, Mandel crossed a line, disrupting the tone of her show.

“He disrespected her in her house. That’s her show, her audience, her tone — and he bulldozed right through it,” the source said.

While some have described the moment as harmless banter, others insist the interview with Mandel ruined the vibe of the TV personality’s show.

“Kelly runs a tight, polished ship,” another insider said about Ripa. “She expects guests to play along, keep it light, and protect the vibe. That interview did the opposite.”

Mandel’s reaction to Ripa’s age compliment during her show may also have consequences, as insiders suggest he won’t be asked back.

However, the actress will reportedly take a subtle approach and won’t issue an outright ban to the comedian.

“She’ll never say ‘you’re banned,’” an insider noted. “But suddenly bookings get tricky, schedules don’t align, and invites… vanish.”

“Howie won’t be asked back,” another source said. “Not after making her uncomfortable on her own set.”

Clips of the awkward exchange between Ripa and Mandel quickly went viral, sparking reactions from viewers online.

Some netizens argued Mandel was simply insecure about his age and overreacted to a polite compliment.

One user wrote, “He’s insecure about his age, that’s the bottom line. Ripa was just being polite.”

Another added, “What a pompous jerk. A compliment from @KellyRipa is pretty good,” while a third noted, “He does look great for 70, I don’t know why he couldn’t take the compliment.”

Others defended Mandel, saying he wasn’t truly offended and was playing up his comedic style.

One fan remarked, “He wasn’t really offended. This is his style of comedy. I watch his podcast with his daughter, Howie Mandel Does Stuff; they’re just instigators. He’s incredibly sharp for his age. It’s a great show.”

Olivia Munn Says John Mulaney Helped Her Face ‘Death’

Published

on

Olivia Munn is sharing the darkest parts of her cancer journey, revealing how her husband John Mulaney helped her face the “possibility of death.”

“There’s no better person in the world to me than my husband,” Munn, 45, said during a Sunday, March 29, appearance on CBS News Sunday Morning. “He is — I mean, you’ve met him. He wanted to come to every single doctor’s appointment.”

The Newsroom star explained that when she was “faced with the possibility of death and not being here,” her husband would lighten the load — both physically and emotionally. (The pair, who said “I do” in July 2024, share two kids, Malcolm and Méi.)

“He’s got his notebook that he writes all of his ideas for jokes and anything that comes to him through the day,” she said. “You know, having the humor to go through it and having someone who is so funny, it really — it just lightens everything.”

Olivia Munn is getting candid about her health struggles after being diagnosed with breast cancer last year. “Having a little baby at home made everything much more terrifying. It makes you realize, cancer does not care who you are,” Munn, 43, shared in her People cover story published on Wednesday, April 17, referencing 2-year-old son, […]

In March 2024, Mulaney revealed she had been diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer.

“In February of 2023, in an effort to be proactive about my health, I took a genetic test that checks you for 90 different cancer genes,” Munn wrote via Instagram at the time. “I tested negative for all, including BRCA (the most well-known cancer gene). My sister Sara [Potts] had just tested negative as well. We called each other and high-fived over the phone. That same winter I also had a normal mammogram.”

Two months after the negative results, Munn tested positive for cancer and subsequently underwent treatment.

“Surprisingly, I’ve only cried twice,” she added. “I guess I haven’t felt like there was time to cry. My focus narrows and I tabled any emotions that I felt would interfere with my ability to stay clearheaded.”

Munn’s treatment included numerous operations, including a double mastectomy, lymph node dissection, reconstructive surgery, a nipple delay procedure, an oophorectomy and a partial hysterectomy.

While she once considered quitting acting, in addition to the support of her husband Munn says getting back in front of the camera actually aided in her recovery.

Olivia Munn is reflecting on life after being diagnosed with breast cancer, and the actress is using her experience to raise awareness. She recently shared more details about her journey, revealing there were no warning signs before she was diagnosed. Now, she hopes her story will encourage others to get early screenings to potentially save their lives.

In an interview with Tracy Smith for CBS Sunday Morning, Munn released on March 29, the actress shared an update on her health and opened up about her breast cancer battle. Munn said she is doing “good” three years after being diagnosed.

The “X-Men: Apocalypse” actress said she feels grateful and “lucky” to be alive. “I don’t look at it like cancer has taken these things from me or it’s unfair that I have to look over my shoulder for the rest of my life,” she explained. Munn said she takes medication that can leave her feeling exhausted, but she embraces the feeling.

“I know I’m lucky to be here and I am so lucky that I’m in this chaos and I haven’t slept in a few days and I’m exhausted. It’s a true privilege to just be alive in the world,” she noted.

The Actress Had No Symptoms Before Getting The Diagnosis

On a routine mammogram and ultrasound in 2023, Munn’s results came back negative for abnormalities. However, her doctor urged her to take the Tyrer-Cuzick risk assessment test, a free online tool that evaluates a person’s risk of developing breast cancer based on variables, including family history, breast density, and genetic markers.

A score of 20% or higher is considered high risk, and Munn scored a 37.3%. Despite having no symptoms and getting a clean bill of health, she was told to get an MRI and a biopsy. The results showed she had Luminal B cancer, an aggressive form of breast cancer that was found in both of her breasts.

“I decided to get a double mastectomy, and I also got an oophorectomy and a partial hysterectomy,” she told Smith, noting that after the procedures, her Tyrer-Cuzick test is now at 0%.

In an interview with Los Angeles Magazine published in early March, the actress revealed that she wanted to deal with her diagnosis privately at first, only telling her husband, comedian John Mulaney. Days later, however, she realized that Mulaney needed help in supporting her through the cancer battle. “I couldn’t get the words out when I was saying it to my siblings and my mom, so he did that for me as well,” Munn said.

The actress shared her diagnosis publicly in March 2024, telling the world that she underwent several surgeries. She wrote, “I needed to catch my breath and get through some of the hardest parts before sharing,” adding that she hopes sharing her story will “inspire and support” others who are going through the same experience.

Munn gushed about Mulaney, telling Smith, “There’s no better person in the world to me than my husband,” adding that he was proactive during the whole process and wanted to be present during all her appointments with her doctors.

“He’s got his notebook that he writes all of his ideas for jokes and anything that comes to him through the day. You turn halfway through it and there’s all these notes about cancer and hormone therapy and everything that you could imagine that I need to know,” she shared.

Munn said that having a partner with a sense of humor “lightens everything.”

Since publicly sharing her journey, she’s worked on raising awareness for breast cancer. After sharing the assessment test she took, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) noted a 4,000% increase in visitors to the tool’s website.

In 2024, TIME named Munn as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Health. “I wanted to help as many people as possible prevent their cancer from going to the next level,” she said. The following year, the publication also included Munn in its list of Women of the Year.

Currently, the actress is working with Senator Mark Kelly to advocate for making the Tyrer-Cuzick breast cancer risk assessment test part of standard medical care.

7 Netflix Shows Where Every Episode Is a Masterpiece

Published

on

Content Warning: The following list contains brief mentions of domestic violence and abuse. It is truly a rarity to find a television show in which every single episode is made to perfection. Even some of TV’s greatest shows of all time have a couple of episodes that will make you ask “why did they even air that?” So, taking on the task of finding the Netflix shows in which every episode is perfect was no easy task. It relied on a lot of research, from scouring Reddit boards to relying on our own TV knowledge. It took time, but we managed to craft a list of shows with nary a bad episode.

Whether it’s a limited series that never overstayed its welcome, or a sprawling comedy drama that has a gripping hold on throughout its entire run, these Netflix shows have done the seemingly impossible: produce an entire series in which every episode is a masterpiece. You don’t believe us? That’s OK, as once you reach the end of this story, you’ll come to the same conclusion that we did: these Netflix shows represent the pinnacle of the streaming service’s storytelling.

In 2018, Netflix viewers were invited into a creepy manor with all sorts of supernatural unease. The Haunting of Hill House, created by Mike Flanagan, kickstarted the service’s Haunting anthology, and it started on a very strong note. The miniseries takes place over two timelines, one from 1992 and another in the present day, with the central figure being Hill House, a large, eerie mansion that haunts the Crain family.

While the series certainly has its terrifying moments, The Haunting of Hill House is a lot more than a regular show about a haunted house. Flanagan takes the trope and goes deeper with it, making it more of a character-driven family drama with some truly emotional moments. It uses Hill House to expose the emotional trauma that the Crain family struggles to cope with. The ghosts in the series aren’t just to make the viewer jump out of their seats, but they’re used as metaphors for grief, regret and mental illness. With complex characters and production that is as close to perfect as one could get, each episode of The Haunting of Hill House builds to a finale that lands the story perfectly. While every series in Flanagan’s Haunting anthology was top-notch, The Haunting of Hill House is, by all intentions of the word, a masterclass in how to tell a haunted house story.

‘The Queen’s Gambit’ (2020)

On the surface, The Queen’s Gambit is a miniseries that never should have worked. Besides, the main premise of the show revolves around a chess player, and who would want to watch a show based on someone playing one of the most boring games on Earth? Well, if you think this way, you’re missing out on one of the best Netflix miniseries ever created. The coming-of-age period drama created by Scott Frank and Allan Scott follows the life of Beth Harmon (Anya Taylor-Joy), a chess prodigy who becomes one of the best players in the world. But, beneath the surface, Harmon struggles with alcohol and drug addiction, and she has to battle these demons while preparing for a major chess tournament in Moscow.

Every episode of The Queen’s Gambit was terrific, and this was due to the impeccable pacing and structure of the series. Watching it all the way, you’ll get the feeling that you’re watching a seven-hour movie with a very clear, resonant ending. Because the creators and writers knew where to go with the story, and how to end it, there were essentially no filler episodes within the series, which makes the entire show such a satisfying watch. Add in the mesmerizing performance of Taylor-Joy, and you have a miniseries that should not be slept on.

‘When They See Us’ (2019)

In 1989, five Black and Latino teens were falsely accused of assaulting a white woman in Central Park. Known as the Central Park Five, their conviction was vacated in 2002, and they were awarded a settlement from the city of New York in 2014 after suing the city for wrongful conviction. The plight of the Central Park Five ignited tough conversations around racial bias, media sensationalism, and the criminalization of people of color, especially after the release of the 2019 miniseries When They See Us.

Created by Ava DuVernay, the miniseries tells the story of the Central Park Five and their wrongful conviction through the experiences of the victims, which forced the viewers to look at the wrongfully accused not as a group of kids, but as individuals who were worthy of justice and empathy from viewers. Each episode will take viewers through a range of emotions, from anger to sadness, and, in the end, tempered redemption for the five kids who were essentially railroaded by the judicial system. When They See Us was a significant achievement on television, daring to question how racial bias and the media also play a part in painting the narrative that people of color are criminals, along with a justice system all-to-eager to accept that narrative. When They See Us is more than the perfect Netflix show, it is basically essential viewing.

‘Maid’ (2021)

One of the best attributes about Netflix original series is its ability to tell serious stories in an unfiltered and honest way. We saw this in 2019 with the brilliant When They See Us, and again two years later, with Netflix premiering Maid, created by Molly Smith Metzler and inspired by the 2019 novel of the same name written by Stephanie Land. The miniseries followers Alexandra “Alex” Russell (Margaret Qualley), a young mom who leaves her abusive boyfriend and takes a job working as a maid.

We’re going to be honest here. Maid can be a hard watch at times, especially the way it honestly portrays domestic abuse, which isn’t always physical, and it answers the long-complex question of why victims struggle to leave their abusers. Not only that, but Maid also highlights “invisible” poverty, the people who struggle to stay afloat, and how just one minor setback can cause someone to lose everything. To tell its gut-wrenching story, Maid uses innovative storytelling to describe Alex’s plight, which lets us see things from her inner perspective. While Maid is a tough watch at times, it’s also a show that is a masterpiece at telling complex, difficult stories.

The Academy Has Decided
Your Perfect Film Is…

Your answers have pointed to one Oscar Best Picture winner above all others. This is the film that was made for the way your mind works.

Parasite

You are drawn to films that operate on multiple levels simultaneously — that begin in one genre and quietly, brilliantly migrate into another. Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite is a film about class, desire, and the architecture of inequality that manages to be darkly funny, deeply suspenseful, and genuinely shocking across a single extraordinary running time. Your instinct is for cinema that hides its true intentions until the moment it’s ready to reveal them. Parasite is exactly that — a film that rewards close attention and punishes assumptions, right up to its devastating final image.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

You want it all — and this film gives you all of it. The Daniels’ Everything Everywhere All at Once is one of the most maximalist films ever made: action comedy, multiverse sci-fi, family drama, existential crisis, and a genuinely earned emotional core that sneaks up on you amid the chaos. You are someone who responds to ambition, who doesn’t want cinema to choose between being entertaining and being meaningful. This film refuses that choice entirely. It is overwhelming by design, and its overwhelming nature is precisely the point — because the feeling of being crushed by infinite possibility is exactly what it’s about.

Oppenheimer

You are drawn to cinema on a grand scale — films that understand history not as a backdrop but as a force, and that place their characters inside that force and watch what happens. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is a film about the terrifying gap between what we can do and what we should do, told with the full weight of one of the most consequential moments in human history behind it. You want your films to feel important without feeling self-important — to earn their ambition through sheer craft and the gravity of their subject. Oppenheimer does exactly that. It is enormous, complicated, and refuses easy comfort.

Birdman

You are drawn to films that foreground their own construction — that make the how of the filmmaking part of the what it’s about. Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman, shot to appear as a single continuous take, is cinema examining itself through the cracked mirror of a fading actor’s ego. You respond to formal daring, to the feeling that a film is doing something that probably shouldn’t be possible. Michael Keaton’s performance and Emmanuel Lubezki’s restless camera create something genuinely unlike anything else — a film that is simultaneously about creativity, relevance, self-destruction, and the impossibility of ever truly knowing if your work means anything at all.

No Country for Old Men

You are drawn to cinema that trusts silence, that refuses to explain itself, and that treats dread as a form of meaning. The Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men is a film about the arrival of a new kind of evil — implacable, arbitrary, and utterly indifferent to the moral frameworks we use to make sense of the world. It is one of the most formally controlled films ever made, and its controlled restraint is what makes it so terrifying. You want your films to haunt you, not comfort you. You are not interested in resolution if resolution would be dishonest. No Country for Old Men is honest in a way that most cinema never dares to be.

We all see comedy as a pressure relief from the arduous daily task of life, and it was used brilliantly in the 2023 anthology series Beef. Created by Lee Sung Jin, Beef follows two people who begin to feud after a road rage incident. While this is a simple black comedy on the surface, it’s what lies beneath the comedy that makes Beef a gold-standard when it comes to the perfect Netflix show.

The best aspect to Beef is its tight storytelling, with each of the series’ 10 episodes packed with character arcs that have a significant impact on the overall storyline. Even the minor characters in each episode play a part in the overall feud between Danny Cho (Steven Yeun) and Amy Lau (Ali Wong), with each episode escalating the feud and showing how it quickly spirals out of control.

The writers use the feud between Danny and Amy to masterfully showcase the Asian-American experience, exploring issues such as class status, immigration, and family expectations, and they did this without casting a monolithic net over the race. This makes the audience understand the pressures Amy and Danny are going through, and also helps to understand why a simple road rage incident spiraled downhill so quickly. It’s a show that tackles existential emptiness when compounded with the pressures of material success, and how it contributes to the overwhelming rage that we feel in society today. They do all of this without sacrificing the comedy, a chef’s kiss to a brilliant series.

‘Dark’ (2017–2020)

A great story arc commands you to pay attention to each element in each episode. Each show that we’ve discussed so far in this piece has been a miniseries, where it can be easy to accomplish in just a 10-episode run. But, here’s a show that manages to not have a single filler episode over a three-season span. We’re talking, of course, about Dark, one of the best series not just in Netflix history, but in TV history as a whole, and we’re very serious about this claim.

Created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, Dark follows four families as they search for what happened to a kid who disappeared from a small German town, only to discover something truly sinister has been happening in the town over generations. To be honest, the storyline of Dark could have easily been condensed into a single miniseries, but by fleshing the story out over three seasons, it allowed it to be expanded and avoid the plotholes that could have befallen it if it was made as just a miniseries. The story of Dark is very complex, but the writers flawlessly executed the story. They knew how the story would be told and how it would end, and they didn’t deviate from this plan, and the end result is a masterpiece of epic proportions. The moody atmosphere, the exceptional acting, and a complex story that keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat throughout its run? What more could you ask for?

‘Arcane’ (2021–2024)

When discussing the best Netflix shows in which every episode is absolutely perfect, you can’t have that conversation and leave Arcane off the list. Created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, the animated steampunk sci-fi is, arguably, one of the most jaw-dropping achievements in modern animation. Much like Dark, the story of Arcane is more complex than what the synopsis says it’s about. On the surface, it’s a story about two sisters who get tangled in a conflict between the poor underbelly of Zaun and the more prosperous city of Piltover. If you go off of the synopsis of the series, you’ll think Arcane is a straight-forward show, but it’s much, much deeper than that, and that’s what makes it such a compelling show.

The main reason why Arcane is such a perfect show is the way it tells its story. Rather than “telling” the story through its characters, it shows you how everything unfolds, using stunning camera work, lighting, and an innovative pace to fully immerse the viewers into the world Arcane has created. Of course, this wouldn’t be possible without an animation style that is distinct and truly revolutionary, making each episode of Arcane feel more like a cinematic event than a typical Netflix show. That’s the beauty of the show as a whole, as it doesn’t feel like you’re watching a TV show; you’re basically watching a movie broken up into 18 episodes. Every episode in Arcane was simply perfection, and it would be a tough sell for another animated show to come close to what this series created.
