Former India cricketer Dodda Ganesh has lashed out Delhi Capitals over their ‘shocking’ team selection in their IPL 2026 clash against Chennai Super Kings on Friday. After captain Axar Patel opted to bat, DC suffered a batting collapse at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The hosts were reduced to 69/5 at the end of the 11th over before Sameer Rizvi (40 not out) and Tristan Stubbs (38) added a crucial 65 runs take DC to a respectable total of 155/7.
Taking to X, Ganesh slammed Axar and the DC management for their selection calls, questioning the decision to bench impact players like Prithvi Shaw, Abishek Porel, and David Miller. Ganesh wondered aloud whether DC is operating like a “serious franchise,” given the tactical blunders seen so far.
“There’s so much Indian batting talent available in Delhi’s camp. They can so easily open with Shaw/Rana/Porel along with KL, & have Miller in the middle order. Instead, the geniuses play Nissanka at the top & drop Miller. Tell me, how can this be a serious cricket team?” Ganesh wrote on X.

DC’s free fall began with the loss of opener Pathum Nissanka who failed to clear the mid-on fielder off a slower ball from left-arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary.
Both Nissanka (19 off 15) and K L Rahul (12 off 13) began with crisp boundaries but did not last long. After Nissanka, Rahul attempted an inside-out hit off left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein but could not get to the pitch of the ball on the charge to be caught by opposition captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.

DC laboured to 37 for two in the powerplay with Hosein bowling half of the overs including one from the other end that produced the wicket of Rahul.
Axar had the ideal opportunity to make an impact with the bat but fell to a soft dismissal, offering a sitter to the cover fielder off a Gurjapneet Singh ball that appeared to stop on him. DC were now reeling at 69 for five in 11 overs.
Tristan Stubbs (38 off 31) and impact player Sameer Rizvi (40 not out off 24) hit a flurry of sixes to take the innings forward in their 65-run stand but the damage done in the first half of the game could not be reversed as DC ended with an underwhelming total.

Sports analyst Jason Whitlock threw shots at the WNBA anew for allegedly pushing what he described as an agenda about gender preferences.
In a clip of his “Fearless” podcast posted on X on Tuesday, Whitlock claimed that the WNBA is pushing a gay agenda. She referenced 2025 No. 10 pick Raven Johnson, who, in a recent interview, praised Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White’s partner, Lisa Salters.
“The WNBGAY is at it again,” Whitlock said. “Indiana Fever rookie Raven Johnson talking about her head coach Stephanie White’s (wife) and how hot Stephanie White’s wife, Lisa Salters, is. … I just wanna watch basketball, I don’t wanna know that some 23-year-old rookie finds her head coach’s wife hot.”

Whitlock added that this alleged agenda would be the downfall of the WNBA and doubled down on his previous comment about the league not maximizing Caitlin Clark’s popularity:
“This is why the Indiana Fever (haven’t) sold out their home opener yet. They’re struggling to sell tickets. They have killed Caitlin Clark with their agenda. Caitlin Clark tried to bring basketball front and center in the WNBA.”
It has been known that White has been in a relationship with Salters, who is a longtime ESPN reporter. They are reportedly living with each other, along with their children: White’s three biological sons and Salters’ adopted son.
What did Raven Johnson say about Stephanie White’s partner?
In her media availability during the team’s Monday practice, Johnson was asked about White being her first WNBA coach.
“She’s funny,” Johnson said. “And don’t tell her this, but her wife came to practice the other day and I was like, ‘Dang, you got some taste.’ She got a little bit of taste on her. Her wife is beautiful.”
When pressed on how White is as a coach, Johnson said:

Gym-based activity is growing according to the latest Active Lives Survery / Sport England
Activity levels are still rising among English adults according to Sport England’s new Active Lives Survey, which covers November 2024 to November 2025.
According to Sport England’s chief strategy officer, Nick Pontefract, the number of people meeting the Chief Medical Officer’s guidelines of 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise each week is at the highest since the survey began in 2015-2016.
There are now almost 30 million active adults in England – 859,000 more than last year and 3.3 million more since the survey started. Inactivity levels have decreased by 0.9 per cent.

Much of the increase is from older people who want to stay healthy and gyms are playing an important role. Since the pandemic the biggest increases have come from gym-based training: fitness classes, gym sessions, exercise machines, weight sessions, intervals and generic fitness training. All of these areas have shown steady growth.
The uptick in gym usage is supported by the findings of the UK Health & Fitness Market Report 2026, which showed penetration is at an all time high of 18 per cent.

Almost two-thirds – 64.6 per cent – of adults met the CMO guidelines last year. A further 10.7 per cent are fairly active (30 to 149 minutes a week), while 24.7 per cent are inactive.

Activity levels among 16 to 34-year-olds have remained stable at 70.5 per cent over the last three years, this is down from 72.2 per cent in 2015, but has increased from a low during the pandemic.
Among 55 to 74-year-olds activity levels are steadily climbing – an increase of 0.8 per cent this year to 64.3 per cent, which is a significant increase from 57 per cent in 2015.
Guidelines also advise two muscle strengthening sessions a week – alongside the 150 minutes – which could include housework, manual gardening and DIY. Forty five per cent (21.5 million) met this guideline. Although the likelihood of reaching it decreases with age, there has been an increase of 2.7 per cent to 41 per cent in the over-55s compared with 2019 when the data was first recorded.
Running has increased by 0.8 per cent over the last 12 months and, after a dip, cycling for sport appears to have stabilised. There has been little change in team sports over the last few years and swimming participation was up by 0.3 per cent.

The challenges
With the same inequalities remaining there is still more work to do to remove barriers to activity.
Women continue to be less active than men (62.2 per cent compared with 67.3 per cent). Participation rates are rising among women, but they are rising among men at the same pace.
Those in the lower socio-economic groups are markedly less active (53.8 per cent) than more affluent groups (73.2 per cent) and while there has been a small increase of 1.4 per cent in the last year there has been no reportable difference in the last nine years.

Black and Asian (excluding Chinese) and those from other ethnic groups have not seen an increase in the last nine years and the gap to White British and White other adults has widened.
Activity continues to be less common for people living with a disability or long-term health condition than those without – 49.1 per cent compared to 69.8 per cent.
Attitudes
Eighty two per cent either strongly agreed or agreed that they feel they have the ability to be active; 79 per cent feel they have the opportunity and 73 find exercise enjoyable and satisfying.

The likelihood of strongly agreeing with each of the three statements increases with affluence.
There is also a positive association between positive attitudes and wellbeing. People who score highly are more likely to have higher individual development and community development scores than those who don’t agree.
In terms of inclusivity, 24 per cent strongly agree and 45 per cent agree that the places where they exercise are inclusive and welcoming.
Seventy two per cent either agree or strongly agree that they feel safe in public places they like to exercise and 67 per cent either agree or strongly agree that they see people similar to themselve where they exercise.

Feelings of inclusivity decrease as inequalities increase, however feelings of inclusivity are consistently rising.
Reaction
Sport England chief executive, Simon Hayes, says: “It’s great to see continued growth in the number of people taking part in physical activity, with more adults than ever enjoying the benefit of playing sport and moving. It is testament to the incredible work of so many people across the sector, including the millions of volunteers without whom the system could not operate.
“But today’s report also shows this progress is still not being felt equally. Where you live, your socio-economic circumstances, your gender, and your ethnicity, all still have a significant impact on how likely you are to be active.

“So we will continue to focus our efforts on working with partners to ensure that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to be physically active and enjoy the benefits it brings. We will be setting out more detailed plans for how we intend to do this over the next five years in the coming weeks.”
Cameron Saunders, CEO of UK Active, says these findings mirror those of the UK Health & Fitness Market Report 2026 and show the growing popularity of the fitness sector’s services to meet demand for physical activity.
“It’s great to see fitness driving increases in levels of physical activity. This progress underlines the essential role played by our nation’s gyms, pools and leisure centres as the core infrastructure driving physical activity in the UK,” he says.
“Close to a million more people took part in fitness activities last year, a 1.4 per cent increase on 2024. There’s also been a long-term increase in the number of older adults taking part in strength training – up by 2.7 per cent over the past five years – and a 0.9 per cent increase in women undertaking weight exercises in the past year alone, reflecting growing recognition of strength training as a vital component of health.”

However, Saunders is concerned about the persistent inequalities: “We’d all like to see overall increases moving far quicker, and far more being done to reduce inequalities.
“While we continue to see growth in the overall numbers of active adults, the pace of change remains too slow to address the continuing health crisis we face, including spiralling NHS costs and economic inactivity. This is particularly acute among lower social groups.”
He called on the government to partner with the sector to shift the dial: “The government has the opportunity to work with our sector on practical, tangible ways to create a step-change in activity levels, harnessing our national infrastructure of gyms, pools and leisure centres to unlock a healthier, happier and wealthier Britain.”
No further collaboration, funding or concessions to the sector are immediately forthcoming from the government. Minister for Sport, Stephanie Peacock, spoke about funding which has already been announced: “We believe that everyone should be able to reap the benefits of sport and physical activity. That’s why the Government is taking a place-based approach to sport funding to make sure the right facilities reach the right communities. We’re backing that with £250 million through Sport England to reach local places with the highest levels of inactivity and at least £400 million into multi-sport community facilities.”
It might seem odd to suggest an English club reaching a Champions League final have been in danger of going under the radar – but that has almost been the case for Arsenal this year.
Such has been the immense pressure piled upon Mikel Arteta’s side to end a 22-wait for a Premier League title, their remarkable unbeaten run to the European showpiece in Budapest has arguably not got the credit it deserves.

There has been a desperation to win the league – which, indeed, they could well go on to do as well given Manchester City‘s draw at Everton 24 hours before this semi-final.
But there has been a quiet ruthlessness in Arsenal‘s European games – rarely troubled, rarely in danger of going out.
“I don’t think you can underestimate what we have done in this competition up to this point,” midfielder Declan Rice told Amazon Prime.

“We have every right to celebrate that moment. The most prestigious competition in club football. We are just trying to soak it all in.

Phil Mickelson, a three-time Masters champion, will not tee off at next week’s PGA Championship. The 55-year-old, who competes on the LIV Golf circuit, cited a “personal health matter with his family,” tournament organizers confirmed Tuesday.
Mickelson was absent from Augusta National for the 2026 Masters last month, saying at the time he would step aside for an “extended period of time” while he and his family worked through an unspecified health issue.
“Unfortunately, I will not play in The Masters Tournament next week and will be out for an extended period of time as my family continues to navigate a personal health matter,” Mickelson wrote in an April statement posted to social media.

Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley voiced support for Mickelson following his decision to step away from the signature event. “We know how much Phil loves the Masters tournament, and he will be missed by everyone in Augusta next week,” Ridley’s statement said. “He has our complete support as he takes time to be with his family.”
Mickelson has won six major championships, including two PGA Championship titles. His 2021 victory at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina made him the oldest golfer to win a major at age 50.

Prior to Tuesday’s announcement, Mickelson was expected to compete among a field of more than 150 players at Aronimink Golf Club, the site of this year’s PGA Championship. The tournament is set to begin May 14 and run through May 17.
Max Homa has been named Mickelson’s replacement following his withdrawal.

Mickelson has already missed four events this season on the LIV Golf calendar, including stops in Hong Kong and Singapore. A “family health matter” was also cited as the reason for Mickelson’s absence in February.
Mickelson did return to competition in March for an event in South Africa, finishing tied for 48th. That event was followed by his announcement in early April that he would take a break from the sport.
WWE star Chelsea Green revealed Monday she underwent a “heart procedure” as she shared photos of herself and husband Matt Cardona from her hospital bed.
Green said doctors caught her SVT. The Mayo Clinic says that SVT, or supraventricular tachycardia, is a “type of irregular heartbeat, also called an arrhythmia. It’s a very fast or erratic heartbeat that affects the heart’s upper chambers.”

The two-time WWE women’s United States champion said she had been dealing with the issue for 10 years.
“After 10 years, doctors finally caught my SVT and I was able to get a heart procedure done! 3 hours later and I’m on the mend,” she wrote on Instagram.
On Tuesday, she added on X: “My latest episode during WrestleMania pushed my resting heart rate to 228 for almost 15 minutes. Yesterday, Dr. Girgis spent 3 hours working on me… and I had to be awake for the last hour of the procedure!! “

She said the procedure was minimally invasive and expected to be back to work soon.
Green has had her share of bad luck over the last few months. She suffered an ankle injury that has kept her sidelined for several months, keeping her off the WrestleMania 42 card.

One of Demling’s surprising 2026 Preakness Stakes picks: Demling is fading Golden Tempo even though he just won the Kentucky Derby. Golden Tempo has yet to be confirmed for the Preakness, but if he runs, Demling doesn’t have Golden Tempo winning at Laurel Park, saying he “needs a good set up and that will be tougher to get in the Preakness Stakes.”
Prevailing at Churchill Downs is Golden Tempo’s only victory over his last three starts as he finished third at both the Louisiana Derby and Risen Star Stakes. Also, if he does run on May 16, then the horse will have to deal with a short turnaround that he’s never experienced before. All of his previous races came with at least four weeks of rest — with the Derby being after six weeks of rest — so it would be a lot to ask for the horse to triumph again with just two weeks between the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. Another stunner: Demling is high on Taj Mahal, even though he’s a double-digit longshot at 20-1. “The son of Derby winner Nyquist is 3-for-3 with all of his races at Laurel Park,” said Demling. Nyquist won the 2016 Kentucky Derby, and Taj Mahal’s damsire, Quality Road, was a four-time Grade 1 winner, so Taj Mahal has pedigree on his side. His three Laurel Park wins came on varying track conditions, including both fast and muddy, so he may have a home-track advantage come May 16.
That last victory was at the Federico Tesio on April 18, so he’ll have plenty of rest before the Preakness. His trainer, Brittany Russell, is one of the most accomplished in recent Maryland horse racing history, leading all trainers in the state in wins in both 2023 and 2024. Triple-A Oklahoma City has been a busy place for Dodgers on the mend for the past few weeks, with rehab assignments piling up over the last few days. Utility man Kiké Hernández is the latest to work his way back with the Comets, starting a rehab assignment on Tuesday night.
Hernández on Tuesday started at third base and batted second against the Salt Lake Bees, an Angels affiliate.
Mookie Betts could be on a rehab assignment soon, as he works his way back from an oblique strain.
“Mookie is working on his bat speed. He feels good. I would say he’s going to get out on a rehab soon. Whether it’s this week — he’s supposed to a simulated game, like a live BP on Thursday,” Roberts said Monday, as shown on SportsNet LA. “If he does his live BP on Thursday and comes out okay, then you can sort of figure out where he goes next.”
Betts was injured on March 4 in Washington D.C., and last week on the homestand said doctors initially told him he’d miss six weeks. This Saturday is the five-week mark for Betts, who said he was ahead of schedule but also cautioned that the nature of oblique injuries requires patience.
“It’s just time. There’s no magic formula to this. You can do as much rehab as you want. Obliques just take time, it’s always four to six weeks, no matter however you want to twist it,” Betts said on April 29 at Dodger Stadium. “We’re kind of approaching the four-week mark. Once I get to that point is when we’ll really turn the corner. We’re close, and after that it’s going to get a lot better.”

He has been a prominent figure within Everyone Active’s Sporting Champions scheme since 2024 and in his new expanded role, Aikines-Aryeetey will bridge the gap between elite performance and everyday wellness, aiming to inspire a new audience to use leisure facilities.
