“I’ve been enjoying it,” Gauff said. “The first couple rounds were tough. Those are the matches you get through.”

“I was one point away from being out of the tournament. Really grateful to be in the final.”

“Each match I think I learned a little bit more from something from each match. I think it showed today.”

Gauff continues to look stronger with each round and is now one win away from lifting the Rome title.

Robert Garcia picks who deserves the higher all-time ranking between Mayweather and Pacquiao

Published

on

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are recognised as two of the best ever, but despite their 2015 meeting, fans continue to debate which man was the greatest. Now, world-renowned trainer Robert Garcia has had his say.

Pacquiao is boxing’s only ever eight-division world champion, having ruled at flyweight in 1998 and then in all divisions between super-bantamweight and super-welterweight over the course over his legendary career.

Although, unlike the self-proclaimed ‘TBE’, ‘Pac Man’ was defeated on eight occasions, including a defeat to Mayweather, who famously retired with a record of 50-0, after claiming world honours in five different weight divisions.

Yet, in a clip captured by RyckesportsTV, Garcia declared that, in his opinion, it is Pacquiao who sits higher in the ‘GOAT’ debate, due to the love that he received outside of the ring, as well as his skills within it.

“I think that Pacquiao was better. Mike Tyson said something to me, ‘to be the GOAT, it is not just because of your boxing record, you gotta be loved and accepted by the fans’ – and everyone loves Pacquiao.

“Like Tyson says, [you must be able to] walk down the street without bodyguards, everybody that comes up to you shakes your hand, when you can’t do that, you can’t be a GOAT if you can’t do that.”

In September, Pacquiao could put an end to Mayweather’s unbeaten record, with a shock professional rematch having reportedly been agreed and set to be aired live and exclusive on Netflix.

Hall of Famer Tim Hardaway Sr Ranks Kobe Bryant, Shaq Rank Above LeBron James: “They Had Killer Instinct” | NBA

Published

on

Another early playoff exit for the Los Angeles Lakers has reopened familiar NBA arguments around LeBron James and his place in basketball history. Even after two decades of records, championships and longevity that few athletes in any sport have matched, the debate around James still refuses to cool down. This time, the criticism came from Hall of Famer Tim Hardaway Sr., whose latest comments about LeBron quickly became one of the league’s biggest offseason talking points following the Lakers’ postseason disappointment.

Hardaway did not simply leave James outside his personal GOAT conversation. The former five-time NBA All-Star went further by placing multiple legends ahead of the Lakers star and questioning whether LeBron carries the same mentality as some of basketball’s most feared champions.

Tim Hardaway Sr. Questions LeBron James’ Place Among NBA Greats

Debates around LeBron’s legacy usually centre on comparisons with Michael Jordan. Hardaway’s list, though, pushed James far lower than many expected. The Hall of Famer named Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Hakeem Olajuwon and Shaquille O’Neal as players he believes rank above James all-time. What caught even more attention was the reasoning behind it. Hardaway focused heavily on mentality, leadership and what he described as “killer instinct” during pressure moments in the playoffs. “These guys they go by championships, and they go by the killer tenacity that these guys have. Like Magic, Michael, Kareem, Kobe. They had killer instinct. They came out and they didn’t let their team wilder. They gave their team confidence. I love LeBron, I’m a LeBron fan. But at times, he doesn’t bring it the way we want him to bring it. Like James Harden, we want him to bring it. We know what he can do, we want to see that.”

The comparison to James Harden instantly became the most controversial part of Hardaway’s comments. While Harden has often faced criticism over playoff performances throughout his career, James remains a four-time NBA champion with one of the most accomplished postseason resumes in league history.

Lakers Playoff Exit Keeps LeBron James Legacy Debate Alive

The timing of Hardaway’s comments matters because questions around the Lakers’ direction are already dominating NBA offseason discussions. At 41 years old and entering his 23rd season, LeBron remains productive, but every playoff defeat now intensifies conversations about legacy, roster construction and championship expectations in Los Angeles.

The Lakers are expected to stay active in trade rumours and free agency as they attempt to maximise what could be the final stage of James’ career. But criticism surrounding LeBron’s approach in big moments clearly has not disappeared, even among former NBA stars who openly admit admiration for him.

Carlo Ancelotti extends contract with Brazil’s national team until 2030 WC | FIFA World Cup 2022

Published

on

Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has extended his contract with the team until the 2030 World Cup.

The 66-year-old Italian coach, who took over in May 2025, had already hinted the extension was likely and confirmed the deal in a video published by the Brazilian soccer confederation, CBF, on Thursday.

The announcement comes shortly before Ancelotti reveals his Brazil squad for the upcoming World Cup on Monday.

“I arrived in Brazil a year ago. From the first minute, I understood what football means to this country. For a year, we have been working to take the Brazilian national team back to the top of the world. But the CBF and I want more,” Ancelotti said. “More victories, more time, more work. We are very happy to announce that we will continue together for another four years. We will go together until the 2030 World Cup.”
The former Real Madrid and AC Milan coach has had a troubled spell in Brazil so far, with many injured players and doubts as to whether his team can be a serious contender for the title at the tournament in North America. Under Ancelotti, Brazil has five wins, three losses and two draws in 10 games.

Ancelotti replaced Dorival Junior last year after some lackluster performances and had to scramble quickly to complete South American qualifying for the World Cup.

Real-life issues with AEW star to lead to Mercedes Mone’s return after nearly 5 months? Exploring the chances

Published

on

Mercedes Mone has not been seen in AEW for quite some time, but a recent real-life development involving a top AEW star could lead to the CEO’s return to the Jacksonville-based promotion.

Mercedes Mone’s name is listed among the greatest female wrestlers of all time. This recognition reflects her immense body of work, including her time as Sasha Banks in WWE and now in AEW as the CEO. Currently, the former TBS champion is on hiatus from the Jacksonville-based promotion, a break that began at Dynamite: New Year’s Smash, where she lost the title. During her absence, the wrestling world saw multiple reports suggesting she would return soon, and Mone herself hinted at a comeback on social media, but she has yet to return. As we navigate the fifth month of her absence, an unfortunate real-life issue involving a top AEW star, Persephone, may finally result in the CEO’s return to Tony Khan’s promotion.

It was recently confirmed that Persephone has suffered a legitimate and severe foot injury sustained in late April. As a result, the Mexican star was written off TV during a recent episode of Collision. Interestingly, Persephone was announced for this year’s Women’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament on this week’s Dynamite despite the injury. It is highly likely that Persephone will be unable to recover in time for her Round 1 match at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view, which opens the possibility of Tony Khan replacing her with Mercedes Mone.

Thekla has her say on Mercedes Mone’s AEW status

In a recent exclusive interview with Westwood One Sports Night, reigning AEW Women’s Champion Thekla was asked to comment on Mercedes Mone, but she chose to defer the comment to a later date. The Toxic Spider said she has interesting details about her in relation to the CEO, but they will have to wait before seeing the light of day.

“That’s a tough one. You know, I’m not gonna answer that because I think there will be a day where I’m going to reveal stuff that is interesting about me in relation to Mercedes. So I’m not gonna say anything,” said Thekla

Mercedes Mone returning to take Persephone’s place in the Owen Hart Cup is definitely a play Tony Khan can run, but for now it is a speculative angle, and it remains to be seen how Mone’s return to All Elite Wrestling will unfold.
