Invest in Newcastle trio before transfer reset
It’s another crunch week in FPL.
With GW15 on the horizon and next week’s free transfer reset topping everyone back up to five ahead of AFCON, this is your chance to make those final moves count, writes Fantasy Premier League expert Blake Hurst. If you’ve got a spare transfer lying around, there’s no reason to let it burn – go bold and chase a one week haul! GW15 is perfect for short-term punts, where a single fixture swing or bit of form can make all the difference before the reset. Here are six of the better one-week picks that could deliver that final push just when you need it most.
Nick Woltemade (7.4m)
There’s something quietly reliable about Woltemade this season. He doesn’t produce massive hauls, but he keeps ticking over – and that’s gold for a short-term punt. Sitting on five goals and two assists from 11 appearances with an xGI of 0.5 per 90, he’s always getting into clever positions. Burnley at home offers a prime opportunity; they continue to gift chances through the middle and struggle against direct strikers. If you’re chasing a steady return with upside potential, Woltemade looks the ideal “right place, right time” option for this gameweek.
Bryan Mbeumo (8.3m)
Mbeumo headlines the Manchester United midfield trio worth considering this week. With Wolves up next – a side that has conceded 29 goals in 14 matches and often looks ragged defending set pieces – there’s real upside here. United’s delivery and movement have been improving, and with Joao Gomes suspended, Wolves could lose even more control in midfield. Whether you fancy Bruno Fernandes for penalties or Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha for open play threat, any of these picks could deliver. Keep an eye on the United vs West Ham lineups and fitness updates before locking in, but the potential for returns is undeniable.

Bruno Guimarães (6.7m)
Guimarães came on at half-time against Spurs to score again – a sign of confidence and form heading into the weekend. Newcastle face Burnley at home, a fixture that’s been kind to attacking midfielders. Guimarães has quietly returned in seven of his last eight appearances, often saving his best for St. James’ Park. His late runs into the box and knack for picking up second balls make him a genuine one-week differential. With Newcastle’s attack linking well again, Guimarães could be a brilliant mid-priced enabler for managers looking to roll the dice this gameweek.
Malick Thiaw (5.0m)
Just 1.9% ownership for a defender with Thiaw’s output feels criminal. Burnley at home is the sort of matchup that screams clean sheet, and Thiaw isn’t just a defensive pick – he’s a real set-piece threat. Averaging 8.58 defensive contributions per 90 and posting 1.49 xGI so far this season, his underlying numbers suggest he’s due something more. Burnley, meanwhile, have scored only 15 goals all season and rarely handle aerial pressure well. A goal and clean sheet combination isn’t far fetched here. For a one-week punt, Thiaw might be the budget hero nobody’s talking about.
Alexander Isak (10.4m)
If there’s ever been a week to back a low-owned striker with high upside, this might be it. Liverpool haven’t been firing, and neither has Isak, but Leeds’ defensive frailties – especially around the six-yard box – make this a juicy opportunity. Isak could profit from precisely those areas, drifting between defenders who struggle with positioning. With Mo Salah’s minutes uncertain, there’s even a decent chance Isak steps up for penalties if the opportunity arises. He’s short on confidence, yes, but the quality’s undeniable. For one gameweek of aggression, Isak offers the perfect risk-reward balance that could pay off handsomely.
Matthijs de Ligt (5.0m)
Keep an eye on De Ligt this week. Wolves have conceded more fouls than any team in the league, and Manchester United have quietly become one of the most dangerous sides from set pieces – a combination that feels tailor made for the Dutchman. De Ligt won’t be on many radar lists, but that’s what makes him such an appealing punt for GW15 – low ownership, strong defensive outlook, and sneaky goal threat.
