The best Christmas movies of all time

The internet is brutally divided on many topics, but none more so than this: is Die Hard legitimately a Christmas film? Every year, this debate gets reheated like leftover plum pudding. However you call it, John McTiernan’s action movie par excellence makes for fantastic festive viewing, offering a hijacked skyscraper, epic detonations, Alan Rickman’s Mitteleuropean baddy, Bruce Willis’s barefoot Sir Galahad, and Beethoven’s Ninth reworked into a kind of warped celebratory festive jingle, all directed with real zip. As Argyle, the put-upon chauffeur says, “If this is their idea of Christmas, I gotta be here for New Year’s.”
