Mo Salah dropped a bombshell on Saturday by revealing that he wants to quit Liverpool after Arne Slot benched him for the third successive game in the Premier League
Mo Salah has sensationally revealed that he now has ‘no relationship’ with Arne Slot after the Liverpool manager benched him for three games in a row. Salah, 33, was an unused substitute during Saturday’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Leeds United in which Liverpool threw away the lead twice.
The forward took his frustration into the mixed zone and had a rare conversation with journalists, speaking for seven minutes and dropping a bombshell by claiming that next Saturday’s clash with Brighton could be his final game for the club. Salah, who’ll jet off to represent Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations later this month, also accused Liverpool of ‘throwing him under the bus’.
His comments on Slot were the most polemic, as Salah claimed: “I’ve said a few times before that I have a good relationship with the manager and now all of a sudden we have no relationship. I don’t know why.
“It seems like the club are throwing me under the bus – that’s how I feel,” the Egyptian continued. “I think it is very clear that somebody wants me to take all the blame.”
Salah, who’s understood to be a target for multiple clubs in Saudi Arabia, added: “This club, I will always support it. My kids will always support it. I love the club so much and I always will.

“It [the situation] is not acceptable to me, to be fair. I don’t get it. It’s like I’m being thrown more under the bus. I don’t think I’m the problem. I have done so much for this club. I don’t have to fight every day for my position because I earn it. I earned my position.”
Slot was asked about his decision not to bring Salah on against Leeds after the match. “It was more about controlling the game [at 3-2] and we didn’t need a goal,” the Liverpool boss explained. “Normally when you need a goal, like last week against Sunderland, I brought Mo on.”

After producing arguably his best ever campaign and helping Liverpool win the Premier League title, Salah signed a two-year extension with the Reds in April, putting to an end months of speculation over his future. The 33-year-old has made 420 appearances for the Reds and scored 250 goals since joining from Roma in 2017.
