2014’s Forgotten Gothic Thriller Gets a Second Chance on Streaming

Published

on

V.C. Andrews released a novel in 1979 that became a massive bestseller, and its premise was nastier than the old “children trapped in a mansion,” or a scary woman teaching children the hard way, like in Nanny McPhee. It dug into inheritance greed, religious cruelty, family shame, neglect, and betrayal, all locked inside one attic. Then it had a 2014 film adaptation, which showed fans why that premise still works. And now, in 2026, that film adaptation is charting on streaming in the U.S.

The movie entered the U.S. Netflix Top 10 this week and immediately showed real traction, landing at No. 2 on June 17, holding No. 2 by June 18, and sitting at No. 3 today (June 19). That is a solid stay for a 2014 Lifetime-style adaptation that just landed on Netflix on June 15, 2026. The movie is Flowers in the Attic, Deborah Chow’s 2014 adaptation of V.C. Andrews’ 1979 gothic novel. Kiernan Shipka, Mason Dye, Ava Telek, and Maxwell Kovach play the Dollanganger children, while Heather Graham and Ellen Burstyn bring the adult poison as Corrine and Olivia. The film follows four children who are hidden away after their father dies; their mother starts choosing money over them, and their grandmother turns the house into a punishment chamber.

Camp Crystal Lake · Friday the 13th

Jason Voorhees

Jason is relentless, but he is also predictable — and that is the gap you would exploit.

  • He moves in straight lines toward his target. He doesn’t strategise, doesn’t adapt, doesn’t outsmart. He simply pursues.
  • Your ability to keep moving, use the environment, and resist the panic that freezes most victims gives you a genuine edge.
  • The Crystal Lake survivors were always the ones who stopped running in circles and started thinking about terrain, water, and distance.
  • You think like that. Which means Jason, for all his indestructibility, would face someone who simply refused to be where he expected.

Haddonfield, Illinois · Halloween

Michael Myers

Michael watches before he moves. He is patient, methodical, and almost impossible to detect — until it’s too late for anyone who isn’t paying close enough attention.

  • But you are paying attention. You notice the shape in the window, the car parked slightly wrong, the silence where there should be sound.
  • Michael’s power lies in the invisibility of ordinary suburbia — the fact that nothing ever looks wrong until it already is.
  • Your spatial awareness and instinct to map every room, every exit, and every shadow before you need them is precisely the quality Laurie Strode had.
  • You are not a victim waiting to happen. You are someone who already suspects something is wrong — and acts on it.

Elm Street · A Nightmare on Elm Street

Freddy Krueger

Freddy wins by getting inside your head — using your own fears, your own memories, your own subconscious as weapons against you. That strategy requires a target who can be destabilised.

  • You are harder to destabilise than most. You’ve faced uncomfortable truths about yourself and you haven’t looked away.
  • The survivors on Elm Street were always the ones who understood what was happening and chose to face it rather than flee from it.
  • Freddy’s greatest weakness is that his power evaporates in the presence of someone who refuses to give him the fear he feeds on.
  • Your psychological resilience — the ability to stay grounded when reality itself becomes unreliable — is exactly the quality that keeps you alive here.

Derry, Maine · It

Pennywise

Pennywise is ancient, shapeshifting, and feeds on terror — but it has one critical vulnerability: it cannot function against someone who genuinely stops being afraid of it.

  • The Losers Club didn’t survive because they were braver than everyone else. They survived because they faced their fears together, and faced them honestly.
  • You ask the questions others avoid. You look directly at what frightens you rather than turning away.
  • That directness — the refusal to let fear fester in the dark — is Pennywise’s worst nightmare.
  • It chose the wrong target when it chose you. You are exactly the kind of person whose fear tastes like nothing at all.

Chicago · Child’s Play

Chucky

Chucky’s greatest advantage is that nobody takes him seriously until it’s already too late. He exploits the gap between how something looks and what it actually is.

  • You don’t have that gap. You take threats seriously regardless of how they present — and you never make the mistake of underestimating something because of its size or appearance.
  • Chucky relies on surprise, on the delay between recognition and response. You close that delay faster than almost anyone.
  • Your instinct to treat every unfamiliar thing with appropriate scepticism — rather than dismissing it because it seems absurd — is the exact quality that keeps you breathing.
  • Against Chucky, not laughing is already winning. You are very good at not laughing.

The 2014 Movie Quietly Fixed the Biggest Complaint About the 1987 Adaptation

Chow’s Flowers in the Attic installment was sold largely as the more faithful screen version compared to the 1987 movie, which softened or removed some of V.C. Andrews’ most controversial material. This frustrated readers because the book’s whole reputation rested on how ugly, taboo, and psychologically warped the Dollanganger story became. Lifetime’s version leaned closer to the novel’s darker spine, especially the Cathy/Chris material, while still toning it down for TV. That choice also mattered because the film became the launchpad for a full Dollanganger screen cycle: Petals on the Wind followed in 2014, then If There Be Thorns and Seeds of Yesterday aired in 2015. So Netflix is really surfacing the start of Lifetime’s complete gothic family saga, and if it keeps performing well, it might invite the other sequels to the streamer too.

Source Reveals The Exact Moment Zendaya Fell For Tom Holland

Published

Zendaya and Tom Holland on the red carpet

Tom Holland‘s unforgettable performance of Rihanna‘s “Umbrella” may have done more than break the internet. According to a new report, it also played a major role in winning over his future wife, Zendaya. A source claimed the actress was completely captivated after watching Holland’s now-iconic 2017 appearance on “Lip Sync Battle,” where the actor stunned audiences by performing in fishnet tights, black shorts, and a corset-inspired outfit while dancing through a rain-soaked rendition of the hit song.

The performance has remained one of the most talked-about celebrity television moments in recent memory, but according to a source cited by the Daily Mail, it held special significance for Zendaya. “It’s not just sexy, but it shows how amazingly talented he is,” the source said. “It takes a lot of confidence for a straight guy to pull off drag.”

During the performance, Zendaya could be seen reacting from the audience, appearing visibly shocked as Holland fully committed to the elaborate routine. “When he was announced as Spider–Man, people were taken aback because he’s slightly wimpy,” the source continued. “But what he lacks in stature he more than makes up for in talent.”

The insider went on to suggest that the performance left a lasting impression on the actress. “You can see the shock on her face but then the admiration,” the source added. “I’m sure it’s something they will show their kids one day.”

Holland’s ‘Umbrella’ Performance Became An Instant Viral Sensation

Holland first delivered his now-legendary rendition of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” during an episode of “Lip Sync Battle” that aired in May 2017. What started as a fun television appearance quickly became a pop culture phenomenon.

After opening with a performance of Gene Kelly’s “Singin’ in the Rain,” Holland surprised the audience by emerging in fishnet tights, black shorts, and a corset-style top before launching into Rihanna’s hit song beneath a shower of artificial rain.

The performance immediately went viral and remains one of the most-viewed clips in “Lip Sync Battle” history. Across YouTube, social media platforms, and reposted clips, the routine has amassed hundreds of millions of views over the years, with fans continuing to share and celebrate it nearly a decade later.

Romance Rumors Began Shortly After ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Not long after Holland’s viral “Lip Sync Battle” performance, reports began circulating that the actor and Zendaya had taken their off-screen chemistry beyond the set of “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” In July 2017, a source told PEOPLE that the pair had quietly started dating while filming the Marvel blockbuster.

“They started seeing each other while they were filming Spider-Man,” the insider said. “They’ve been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they’ve gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another.”

Another source suggested the relationship worked so well because of the similarities between the two stars. “They’re both really ambitious and they challenge each other, but, most importantly, they make each other crack up,” the insider explained. “They seem to have a really similar sense of humor and love joking around together. They have great banter back and forth.”

Tom Holland Recently Confirmed He And Zendaya Are Married

The report comes shortly after Holland appeared to confirm months of speculation that he and Zendaya had quietly tied the knot.

During a recent interview with Esquire, the actor was asked about AI-generated wedding images that circulated online. “No, because they were all there,” Holland replied when asked whether he had to explain the photos to family members, before adding, “That’s all you’ll get on that.”

The actor also spoke candidly about his relationship with Zendaya. “She’s my best friend, and I’m the happiest I have ever been when I’m with her,” Holland said. “But I have also never felt so supported and safe, ever. Period.”

The Couple’s Romance Began During Their ‘Spider-Man’ Days

Holland and Zendaya first sparked romance rumors in 2017 while filming “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” though they kept their relationship largely private for several years. The pair eventually confirmed their romance in 2021 and have since become one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples.

Marriage rumors intensified earlier this year when Zendaya was spotted wearing a simple gold band instead of her engagement ring during a public outing. Shortly afterward, her longtime stylist, Law Roach, appeared to confirm the speculation. “The wedding has already happened,” Roach said during an interview at the SAG Awards. “You missed it. It’s very true.”

While the newlyweds continue to keep most details of their relationship private, fans now have a new piece of lore to add to their love story: according to one insider, it all started with a pair of fishnets, a Rihanna song, and a performance no one has forgotten.

Royal Critics Suspicious Of Meghan Markle’s Reported UK Return

Published

on

Prince Harry Leaves High Court In London

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s reported plans to return to the United Kingdom with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are raising eyebrows, particularly given Harry’s repeated concerns about security in his home country. Multiple reports have suggested the Sussexes are preparing for a rare family trip to Britain in July, potentially marking the first time their children have visited the UK in several years. The reports have sparked renewed discussion because Prince Harry has spent years publicly expressing fears about bringing Meghan Markle and their children back to Britain without enhanced security protections.

The reported visit represents a notable shift from Harry’s previous comments regarding his family’s safety.

In 2022, Harry’s legal team argued in court that the duke “does not feel safe when he is in the UK given the security arrangements that were applied to him in June 2021 and will continue to be applied to him if he decides to come back.” The issue remained a sticking point for years.

Speaking to ITV in 2024, Harry said, “It’s still dangerous,” while discussing media scrutiny and security concerns. He added, “And all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff to act on what they have read.”

He continued, “And whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is, and these are things that are of genuine concern for me. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country.”

More recently, after losing a legal challenge related to his security arrangements, Harry told the BBC in May 2025, “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point.”

Harry’s Security Concerns Make The Reported Visit All The More Surprising

Because of Harry’s long-standing position on security, reports of a family visit have prompted questions about what may have changed behind the scenes.

According to reports, speculation that King Charles would personally fund security for the Sussexes is inaccurate. However, there have also been reports suggesting Harry and Meghan may have been offered accommodations during their visit, though no official details have been confirmed.

The possibility of a meeting between Harry and King Charles has also generated interest as the father and son continue to navigate a fractured relationship that has played out publicly in recent years.

Notably, there has been little indication that Prince William would be involved in any potential reunion.

The reported trip has also fueled debate among royal commentators, some of whom question whether the visit signals a genuine attempt at reconciliation or something else entirely.

For years, both Harry and Meghan have spoken openly about their difficulties with royal life, while also participating in interviews, documentaries, podcasts, and other projects that detailed their experiences within the monarchy.

As a result, some royal watchers remain skeptical about whether a return to the UK would represent a fresh start or simply another chapter in the ongoing saga between the Sussexes and the Royal Family.

The reports of a possible UK return also come amid renewed speculation about the Sussexes’ finances and whether Prince Harry could eventually seek support from King Charles.

Since stepping back as senior working royals in 2020 and relocating to California, Harry and Meghan have built a life centered around high-profile media projects, speaking engagements, and business ventures. The couple now reside in a sprawling Montecito mansion with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

However, several of their major deals have faced challenges in recent years. Meghan and Harry’s partnership with Spotify ended prematurely, while reports have suggested their relationship with Netflix has evolved since the blockbuster success of their initial documentary series.

Mounting Financial Pressures Continue To Spark Questions

Royal author Tom Bower has previously argued that maintaining the couple’s lifestyle comes with high costs, including security expenses, staff salaries, and upkeep on their Montecito estate. According to Bower, the Sussexes would likely need to generate millions of dollars annually to sustain their current standard of living.

At the same time, Harry has reportedly faced challenges connected to one of his most cherished projects, the Invictus Games. Recent reports noted concerns after funding issues impacted Invictus Australia and a key trustee stepped down, adding to questions about the long-term financial stability of organizations connected to the duke.

For now, Buckingham Palace has not publicly commented on the reports, leaving observers waiting to see whether the visit, and any potential family reunions, actually come to fruition.

Netflix’s Most Violent Show Is Like Catnip For Millennials

Netflix’s Most Violent Show Is Like Catnip For Millennials

By Chris Snellgrove
| Published

Because I had heard some bad things about it from fellow geeks that I trust, I didn’t immediately watch Devil May Cry on Netflix. However, I played the heck out of the original games on my trusty PlayStation 2, and I eventually caved in and checked out the show. To my surprise, Season 1 absolutely blew me away. At its best, the show is an action extravaganza, delivering all the thrills of your favorite ‘80s and ‘90s movies rolled into one. At its worst, Devil May Cry is a bit like your favorite fast food: way too greasy and overly indulgent, but a fulfilling, guilty pleasure nonetheless.

While I’m now all-in on this anime, it still took me a hot minute to get to Season 2. The longer I waited, the more I worried that the new season would fully embrace the excesses of Season 1 and become a hot mess. To my delight and surprise, though, Season 2 is better in every way. It’s got more action, more cool lore, and more moments that make you want to stand up and cheer. Most of those moments are tied to killer songs, which brings me to my favorite part of Devil May Cry: thanks to its endless needle drops, it’s like one long music video aimed squarely at millennials.

Hellish Sibling Rivalry

The premise of Devil May Cry Season 2 is that demons are real and that America is in the midst of a full-blown war with Hell. The country’s strongest fighter is Dante, a half-demon, half-human mercenary who speaks violence as a second language. But he may prove to be no match for Hell’s own soldier: Vergil, the brother that he thought had died long ago. What starts out as a straightforward war between worlds quickly becomes a game of intrigue and backstabbing between a series of mysterious players, each with equally mysterious agendas. As for Dante, his agenda is quite simple: to save the world and get the girl.

Even more so than the first season, Devil May Cry Season 2 has plenty of moments for old-school gamers to get excited about. This includes the full-blown introduction of Vergil (one of the most compelling characters in the show) and plenty of extended lore about Mundus, the Big Bad of the entire show. We also get the fun introduction of Ebony and Ivory, Dante’s signature handguns from the very first game. While most of the gamer-centric content pertains to DMC, the show occasionally takes inspiration from other franchises. For example, it’s impossible to watch American soldiers invading Hell in the first episode and not think about Doom, the greatest Boomer shooter of them all.

Millennials Will See Themselves In This Anime

Devil May Cry is most certainly at its best when Dante is hacking and slashing his way through endless waves of demonic foes and getting into death-defying duels with his brother. Fortunately, the show’s quieter moments are still compelling because of the various political intrigues between over-the-top characters. It’s really great to watch everyone react to Arius’s smug monologues, and it’s quite fun to see hardline zealot Baines bouncing off Hopper, the would-be cowboy president. What I enjoyed most, though, was the growing relationship between Dante and “Lady.” Trust me: if you were ‘shipping these two in the first season, you’re going to be eating good with Season 2.

Also, if you happened to play the Devil May Cry games when they came out, you’ll love Season 2’s peak millennial soundtrack. An emotional moment between two of our most important characters hits that much sweeter once “My Immortal” from Evanescence starts playing. Action scenes, meanwhile, hit that much harder to the tune of Korn’s “Freak On a Leash” and Drowning Pool’s “Bodies.” We also get tunes from Papa Roach and GUNSHIP, my favorite retro-flavored band. Incidentally, if you have any doubt the soundtrack was chosen to serve as millennial catnip, just wait until you get the most unexpected needle drop of them all: “Sk8er Boi” by Avril Lavigne.

Music Video: The Anime

That brings me to the best and worst thing about Devil May Cry Season 2: it sometimes feels less like an epic fantasy story and more like a series of really cool music videos strung together with cheesy dialogue. If you’re looking for something a little more substantial (like the apocalyptic vibes of Devilman Crybaby or even the gender-bending exploits of Ranma ½), then you are likely to be disappointed. However, if you’re mostly here for relentless action scenes and silly one-liners, you’ll find DMC a particularly tasty buffet of B-movie schlock. For me, a guy who was mainlining anime music videos well before YouTube, this season really hit the sweet spot.

While the entire voice cast does a great job (Scout Taylor-Compton perfectly embodies both silk and steel as Lady, and Ian James Corlett is a solid replacement for Kevin Conroy as Baines), the glue holding Devil May Cry together is Johnny Yong Bosch. He gives Dane such joyful irreverence that it’s tough not to get caught in the chaotic swirl of his charm. This is doubly impressive because Dante is often written as an arrogant and downright annoying guy. Thanks to Bosch, however, this character has all the charisma of your cool older brother and your youngest, dumbest sibling, all rolled into one.

Care to see what the fuss is about? Want to see humanity face down the forces of Hell amid a sibling rivalry that crosses two worlds? Maybe you just want to rock to the songs you enjoyed back in high school? Devil May Cry has all of this and more. It’s currently streaming on Netflix, where you can jump right into Season 2 or stream this quirky classic from the beginning. Maybe warn your friends and family before you start, though, because you’re going to be cracking bad jokes and jamming out to butt rock long after the credits roll.

‘Halo’ Officially Returns Next Month With a Highly Anticipated New Release

Published

on

0350163_poster_w780-3.jpg

For the longest time, Halo existed as Xbox‘s killer app that almost single-handedly made the argument to go with green instead of blue. In its war with Sony, from the PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox console to the modern PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, only one side had Master Chief and the epic sci-fi military FPS action he brought with him, which completely redefined what a shooter with online multiplayer could be on consoles. Since the release of Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001, the series has racked up over 81 million copies sold and become a gaming icon to the point that John-117 is forever associated with Microsoft and their gaming line. Recent years have been rockier for both the franchise and its console, though, with Halo Infinite having a less-than-stellar release and concluding “major” updates back in November despite a ten-year plan.

Still, the Halo brand has continued to expand. Novels have helped flesh out the war-torn world, while the Paramount+ series attempted to capture the sheer sci-fi scale of Master Chief and his fellow Spartans’ fight to less-than-stellar results. The Chief has even leaped into Fortnite, and Helldivers 2 introduced a collaboration tied to Halo: ODST and its titular shock troopers. A full-fledged Halo game releasing on their rivals’ system once seemed like an impossibility, but between Xbox’s increasing willingness to branch out and the port of the original Gears of War to Sony’s console last year, it began to feel like an inevitability. Sure enough, the moment finally arrived when a modern remake of the first game, Halo: Campaign Evolved, was unveiled from Halo Studios back in October.

The newest Halo will be the first time the franchise has been available to play on a PlayStation, and it won’t even be a timed exclusive. It’s due to release on all modern platforms, save for the Nintendo Switch 2, just over one month from now on July 28, but those who pay extra for either the Premium Edition or Collector’s Edition will get five days of early access starting on July 23. Described as “a faithful yet modernized remake of Halo: Combat Evolved‘s campaign” in Unreal Engine 5, the game will offer players on both sides of the aisle, and PC, the chance to re-experience Master Chief’s original battle with the genocidal alien military alliance of the Covenant after crash-landing on the Halo ring-world. The option to play through the campaign cooperatively is back and expanded, now allowing play with up to four players online. Weapons, mechanics, and enemies from newer entries will be folded into the original missions to refresh the experience, alongside a staggering 42 skulls to modify gameplay. The only thing missing, as the title implies, is online PVP multiplayer.

Your Hero Has Been Identified
Your Sci-Fi Hero Is…

Your answers point to the iconic sci-fi hero who shares your instincts, your values, and your particular way of facing the impossible.

Arrakis · Dune

Paul Atreides

You carry a weight most people would crumble under — the knowledge of what you’re capable of, and the burden of what you might have to become.

  • You see further ahead than others and you plan accordingly, even when the vision frightens you.
  • You are driven by loyalty to your people and a sense of destiny you didn’t ask for but can’t escape.
  • Paul Atreides is not simply a hero — he is someone who understands the cost of power and chooses to bear it anyway.
  • That gravity, that willingness to carry what others won’t, is exactly you.

USS Enterprise · Star Trek

Captain Kirk

You lead with instinct, warmth, and an absolute refusal to accept a no-win scenario — because you’ve always believed there’s a third option nobody else has thought of yet.

  • You take the mission seriously without ever taking yourself too seriously.
  • Your crew would follow you anywhere, not because you demand it, but because you’ve earned it.
  • Kirk’s genius isn’t tactical — it’s human. He reads people, bends rules with purpose, and wills outcomes into existence through sheer conviction.
  • That combination of warmth, audacity, and relentless optimism is unmistakably yours.

The Rebellion · Star Wars

Princess Leia

You are the kind of person who holds the line when everyone else is losing faith — not because you’re fearless, but because giving up simply isn’t something you’re capable of.

  • You lead through conviction. Your voice carries because your belief is unshakeable.
  • You gave up everything ordinary the moment you chose the cause, and you’ve never looked back.
  • Leia is not a supporting character in her own story — she is the moral centre of the entire rebellion.
  • That same fierce, principled, unbreakable core is what defines you.

The Nostromo · Alien

Ellen Ripley

You are not reckless, not grandiose, and not particularly interested in being anyone’s hero — you just refuse to stop when it matters.

  • You see threats clearly, you document the truth even when no one listens, and when the time comes you handle it yourself.
  • Ripley’s heroism is earned, not performed. She doesn’t have a speech — she has a flamethrower and a plan.
  • You share her composure under the worst possible pressure, and her refusal to pretend the monster isn’t there.
  • When it counts, you don’t flinch. That’s everything.

The Wasteland · Mad Max

Max Rockatansky

You have been through fire that would break most people — and what came out the other side is something the world underestimates at its peril.

  • You don’t ask for help, don’t need validation, and don’t wait for anyone to tell you the rules no longer apply.
  • Your loyalty, when it finally arrives, is absolute — but it’s earned in silence and tested in action, not in words.
  • Max is not a nihilist. He is someone who lost everything and found, against his will, that he still has something worth protecting.
  • That bruised, stubborn, ultimately human core is exactly yours.

‘Halo: Campaign Evolved’ Expands the Story With a Prequel

The biggest change from Combat Evolved to Campaign Evolved content-wise is the addition of three new missions in an arc called Operation Meteorite, set before the first time players are introduced to Master Chief in-game. While Halo: Reach ventured earlier in the series timeline to show humanity’s greatest defeat leading into the events of Combat Evolved, John’s history is relatively unexplored in the games themselves. Taking place one year earlier in 2551, the missions primarily focus on the relationship between the Chief and one of his closest allies throughout the original Halo trilogy and a longtime fan-favorite, Sgt. Avery Johnson, during a mission to retrieve data on the location of the Covenant home world. It’ll be packed with new environments and, as shown in preview footage, even a massive space battle.

Senior franchise story lead Jeff Easterling detailed to GameInformer in an extended preview how Operation Meteorite was designed to retrofit the Chief and Johnson’sdynamic into the original game, with help from veteran Halo novelist Troy Denning. The goal was to make it feel natural to the story of Combat Evolved while also demonstrating a clear connection to what comes next in Halo 2 and 3.

“A couple of Troy’s most popular [novels] were dealing with the early dynamics of the relationship of Sgt. Johnson and The Chief. We always felt like, Sgt. Johnson, we want to spend more time with him, and in the original [Combat Evolved], I think people forget that Sgt. Johnson actually doesn’t play a huge role. It really is only in Halo 2 and 3 where he becomes the Johnson that we know in our minds, and we try to ‘retro’ that into CE, but we’ve done some interesting things with Campaign Evolved and these three missions being paramount to elevating Johnson into the Johnson that we remember. Troy was an easy pick to be involved with that.”

Halo: Campaign Evolved is available to pre-order now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC ahead of release on July 28. Check out the cinematic story trailer in the player above.

Chris Hemsworth And Elsa Pataky’s Marriage Faces Major Hurdle

Published

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky‘s marriage is seemingly facing hurdles as sources say both of their “busy” schedules make it difficult for them to stay “connected.”

The actor has previously admitted to struggling with balancing work and home life, but things looked to be on a better path when reports emerged suggesting he was looking to scale down with work.

Chris Hemsworth also recently gave a peek into his life as a father, revealing that he tried to sneak their son on a flight with his daughter’s passport, which resulted in all of them being barred.

Hemsworth and Pataky are two very successful Hollywood actors who have featured in several blockbuster movies. However, it appears the price for success is taking a toll on their marriage as sources say their “busy” schedules have made it “very hard to stay connected.”

The 42-year-old actor has several projects in the pipeline, including “Subversion” and “Extraction 3,” while Pataky is also set to star in the upcoming spy thriller, “The Mark,” alongside Jessica Alba and Tom Hopper.

Their full calendars mean they hardly get to spend quality time together, with sources expressing shock at how Hemsworth has latched onto more work despite reports suggesting he planned to scale things down.

“In a lot of ways, they really are the couple that has it all, but it does not come easy, and the more time they spend apart for work, the tougher it gets,” an insider told Star Magazine. “It’s a bit of a shock to see Chris ramping up his work schedule like this because the last few years he’s been saying his plan was to slow things down so he could have more time for his wife and kids.”

Hemsworth and Pataky are regarded as one of Hollywood’s most rock-solid couples, having been married since 2010.

Together they share three children, a daughter named India Rose, whom they welcomed in 2012, and twin boys, Sasha and Tristan, born in 2014.

The actor previously admitted to GQ Australia that he struggles to balance work with family life, noting that Pataky would like him to “step back and be at home with the kids more.”

He added at the time that he wants that too, but in terms of work, she has “certainly given up more” than he has since they became parents.

According to Star, Hemsworth and Pataky seemed to have a good understanding when it came to balancing work and family time.

A source noted that a major issue in their marriage has always been their busy careers, and with Hemsworth agreeing to scale back on the number of jobs he took, Pataky felt happier.

But now, the actor is reportedly signing up for multiple projects, which has left his wife concerned again.

“Elsa was thrilled when he agreed to dial work back because the pressure of their busy careers has always been the biggest factor in any of their fights over the years,” the insider noted.

They added, “It seemed like they were in a good groove, so it does feel like a big step backwards for Chris to suddenly be signing up for all this time away.”

Elsa Pataky Has Held Them Down With Her ‘Honesty’

It remains to be seen how Pataky and Hemsworth bridge the supposed gap caused by their “busy” schedules, but the “Thor” star recently shared that Pataky has been actively involved in keeping their relationship going.

In an interview with People Magazine alongside his wife, he shared that the secret to their nearly 2-decade-long marriage is her “honesty.”

“There’s an honesty, the north star of truth, that you’re going to get with Elsa. I can show something to a bunch of other people, and they might be like, ‘Oh, great work,’ but Elsa will tell me if it sucks,” he said.

“I’ll tell him, ‘That’s actually not funny. It doesn’t work,’” Pataky added.

According to the actor, this “critical sort of assessment” works perfectly and is key because his Pataky “knows who I am, and we know what each other can do.”

Hemsworth recently shared a cheeky peek into his life as a father, revealing that he once tried to sneak one of his twin sons on a flight with his daughter’s passport, but the immigration officials caught him.

The “Rush” actor explained in a Harper’s Bazaar Arabia interview alongside Pataky that he got the document mixed up and thought that his daughter’s passport could pass for the boy, but his efforts proved futile.

“I actually went to the airport once, and I had my daughter’s passport instead of my son’s passport… They kind of look the same,” Hemsworth began, to which Pataky simply replied, “They don’t.”

“I said, ‘Oh, yeah, this is her.’ And they were like, ‘That’s a boy. No,’” he stated. “So, yeah, that didn’t work.”

Pataky then revealed that Hemsworth and their son “couldn’t fly” because of the error.

Netflix Celebrates ‘Brand New Day’ by Bringing Spider-Man to Streaming

Published

on

Cinema’s spidey senses are tingling as we’re now just over a month away from Peter Parker’s return. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to swing into theaters on July 31, and Tom Holland’s friendly neighborhood hero will have to face a world that has forgotten him entirely, following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Although anonymity comes with its perks, it also means he has been forgotten by those closest to him, including Zendaya and Jacob Batalon‘s MJ and Ned.

It’s not just the husband-and-wife team of Holland and Zendaya who are gracing the latest MCU project. The ensemble also features Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, Michael Mando as Scorpion, and Marvin Jones III as Tombstone. But most fan excitement is held for Stranger Things favorite Sadie Sink, whose identity in the movie is as-yet-unknown. However, most expect her to be portraying Jean Grey, the powerful telekinetic from the X-Men franchise, ahead of their return in this December’s Doomsday.

Last week, a brand-new trailer for Brand New Day was released, and it earned over 3.4 million views in just two days. This follows in the footsteps of Sony’s official trailer launch back in March, which generated 718.6 million views globally in just 24 hours, making it the most-watched trailer launch of all time. In anticipation of Brand New Day‘s theatrical debut, Netflix is helping people get in the mood by taking subscribers back to where it all began next month. Starting July 1, you’ll be able to watch Spider-Man: Homecoming on Netflix, alongside the rest of the streamer’s stacked catalog.

Queens, New York

🕷️ Spider-Man

You carry the weight of the world on shoulders that are younger than they should have to be — funny, loyal, and endlessly self-sacrificing.

  • You do the right thing not because it’s easy, but because no one else will.
  • You understand that responsibility isn’t a burden you choose — it’s one that finds you.
  • Whether it’s a neighbourhood mugging or a multiverse crisis, you show up.
  • Peter Parker’s lesson — that great power demands great responsibility — isn’t a slogan to you. It’s the code you live by, even when it costs you everything.

Hell’s Kitchen, New York

😈 Daredevil
Advertisement

You fight in the shadows between law and chaos, guided by a fierce moral compass that refuses to let the guilty walk free.

  • You use every tool available — your mind, your body, your faith — to protect those the system overlooks.
  • You’ve looked into the darkness and chosen not to become it, though the line has never been easy.
  • Matt Murdock’s duality — champion in the courtroom, devil in the alley — mirrors your own.
  • Relentless, conflicted, and unwilling to stop. That is exactly you.

Stark Industries, Malibu

🤖 Iron Man

Brilliant, driven, and occasionally insufferable — but always the person who solves the unsolvable problem.

  • You lead with your mind and back it up with resources, innovation, and a stubbornness that borders on heroic.
  • You started out looking out for yourself, but somewhere along the way the world became your responsibility.
  • Tony Stark’s arc — from ego to sacrifice — is your arc too.
  • You build, you plan, and when the moment comes, you’re willing to give everything. Because in the end, you’re Iron Man.

New York City

💀 The Punisher

You’ve been through fire that would break most people — and it did change you, completely. What’s left is unyielding, relentless, and operating by a code forged in grief.

  • You don’t ask for forgiveness, and you don’t expect gratitude.
  • You see a corrupt, broken world and you’ve decided to do something about it, consequences be damned.
  • Frank Castle’s war is born from love twisted by loss — and so is yours.
  • Uncompromising and unflinching — the world may not agree with your methods, but your conviction is absolute.

Asgard · Protector of the Nine Realms

⚡ Thor
Advertisement

Powerful, proud, and on a lifelong journey to become worthy of the legend you carry.

  • You lead with strength but have learned — sometimes painfully — that true greatness comes from humility and growth.
  • You’re larger than life, yet more vulnerable than you let on.
  • Thor’s story is one of transformation: from arrogant prince to worthy king, from isolated warrior to beloved protector.
  • You bring the storm when it’s needed — and the warmth when it matters just as much.

Brooklyn, New York · The Avengers

🛡️ Captain America
Advertisement

You believe in something bigger than yourself — and you fight for it even when the world has moved on and nobody else will.

  • You don’t bully the small guy, and you never stop when it gets hard.
  • Steve Rogers didn’t become a hero when he got the serum — he was always one. So were you.
  • Your strength isn’t in your fists; it’s in your refusal to compromise what’s right, no matter the cost.
  • In a world full of people taking the easy road, you’re the one who picks up the shield and stands up — every single time.

Could ‘Brand New Day’ Mark the End of an Era?

This latest Spider-Man movie is expected to usher the character into a new era, as he transitions from adolescence to adulthood, regaining his identity and shaping it for a new chapter, just as most of us do. However, director Destin Daniel Cretton recently hinted that this could be the final chapter of Holland’s Spider-Man, saying that “Everyone should go to this (movie) as if it’s the last Spider-Man.” Of course, this has come at a similar time to comments from Holland himself about his successor, calling Adolescence breakout star Owen Cooper an “awesome” option.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is streaming on Netflix starting July 1, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for more stories.

Revival Of The ‘90s Raunchiest Show Is Funnier Than Ever

Published

Revival Of The ‘90s Raunchiest Show Is Funnier Than Ever

By Chris Snellgrove
| Published

There are few things that make me more nervous than television revivals. Unfortunately, I’ve been burned by more than one revival that’s so bad it makes me wonder why they brought it back in the first place. The Frasier revival removed everything fans loved about the show except for Kelsey Grammar, and the result was a painfully unfunny trainwreck. Star Trek: Picard turned the optimism of The Next Generation into a grimdark slog of depression and grief. As for the X-Files revival, it was so freaking awful that it retroactively ruined the entire tangled mythology of the original show.

That’s why I started sweating when I heard that Mike Judge was bringing Beavis and Butt-Head back. The original series was a riotously raunchy staple of braindead ‘90s television, one that freaked out parents and teachers even as it enthralled an entire generation. How could a revival possibly capture the anarchic spirit and unabashedly edgy humor of the original? To my delight, though, Judge’s dimwitted duo is funnier than ever, taking swings at everything from escape rooms to the afterlife. With a new season now streaming on Netflix, now is the perfect time to dive back into the raunchiest and most irreverent cartoon ever made.

Somehow, Beavis And Butt-Head Returned

There isn’t any real ongoing story to Beavis and Butt-Head. The title refers to a pair of idiotic teenagers who live together in the same rundown house. When they aren’t failing one high school assignment after another, they are just chilling at the house and joking about whatever comes on the TV. As with the original show, the boys spend a fair amount of time waxing philosophic about music videos.

However, in a fun twist, they now watch YouTube videos, and there’s something wonderfully surreal about watching Beavis and Butt-Head reacting to bizarre viral videos. Another fun twist is that the newer show also features stories of the boys all grown up, and while age hasn’t made them any wiser, it has made some of their exploits (watch Butt-Head try to become too fat to get evicted!) that much more amusing. Maybe Judge took a page out of Mac’s book from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia; sometimes, fatter is funnier.

They Want Their MTV

The genius of Beavis and Butt-Head was always that it was much smarter than it appeared. It’s easy to dismiss the show as dumb dreck because the titular duo spends all their time obsessing over sex and bodily functions. However, all of this is part of Mike Judge’s insanely sharp satire. Beavis and Butt-Head is an echo of his thesis in Idiocracy: namely, that the country is in a constant race to the bottom, fueled by brainless teens chasing their next bit of stimuli. Beavis and Butt-Head are not meant to be outliers or outcasts; instead, they represent what modern teenagers become if everything they learn comes from a screen and not a book.

In another creator’s hands, Beavis and Butt-Head would be a very mean-spirited satire, one that served as a prolonged excuse to rant about kids these days. But Judge clearly has great affection for his wayward television sons, and he revels in putting them through a series of misadventures. In a weird way, every episode feels like a What If…? version of a teen drama. The challenges the boys face are always low stakes, like dealing with a bully or trying to flirt with girls. But everything is filtered through a central question: “what if a complete idiot were trying to do this?” The answer is, of course, complete hilarity.

Cramming In Plenty Of Laughs

There’s honestly not much more to say about Beavis and Butt-Head. The new show will easily appeal to fans of the original; after all, it retains all of the biting humor while sporting better animation and, shockingly enough, better animation. But even if you didn’t watch the old show, this series will appeal to anyone who loves down-to-earth animation. There’s none of the unhinged zoomer humor of shows like Smiling Friends and none of the tangled, overcooked lore of Rick and Morty.

It’s just funny situational humor featuring two of the stupidest characters in TV history, and watching a few episodes feels like hanging out with your dumbest high school friends. You know, the ones who always knew exactly how to make you laugh. Want to get that feeling back? Well, unless you’re gonna score tonight, all you need to do is put down the nachos, grab the remote, and stream Beavis and Butt-Head on Netflix.

Frankie Grande Says He Faced A Life-Or-Death Choice Before Getting Clean

Frankie Grande at 2025 MTV Video Music Awards - Arrivals

Frankie Grande, the older half-brother of Ariana Grande, is getting candid about the personal struggles that nearly derailed his life and career. In his upcoming memoir, “Supergay!: A Memoir,” the performer opens up about his battle with addiction, the guilt he carried in the aftermath of the Manchester Arena tragedy, and the life-changing decision that ultimately led him to sobriety.

Frankie Grande is pulling back the curtain on some of the darkest and most transformative chapters of his life. Ahead of the release of his new memoir, the performer is opening up about his struggles with addiction, his journey toward self-acceptance, and how rebuilding his relationship with sister Ariana Grande helped save his life.

“Everyone has a version of me that they know,” Grande told PEOPLE, explaining why he felt ready to share his story. He added that he believes “it’s time” for the public to meet the real him.

While his career was gaining momentum through Broadway productions and his memorable appearance on “Big Brother,” Grande revealed he was privately battling substance abuse.

In “Supergay!,” he recalls turning to drugs and alcohol to cope with life’s challenges. “They took my pain away. And so I happily allowed myself to be drawn into the abyss of addiction,” he writes. After several failed attempts to get sober, Grande reached what he describes as his lowest point in 2017.

A major catalyst was the aftermath of the “One Love Manchester” benefit concert, held following the tragic bombing at Ariana Grande’s concert in England. “I still look back at the ‘One Love Manchester’ concert, and I just felt so useless and so disconnected from my family at a time where I just wished that I could be connected to them,” Grande said.

“That feeling was in the back of my mind, and I used to be able to drink and use drugs in order to escape that feeling,” Grande continued. “[But] there was no way I could run anymore. That shame and that guilt was anywhere I looked and anywhere I turned.”

Years before opening up in his new memoir, Grande was already sharing honest insights into his recovery journey. In 2019, the Broadway star celebrated 20 months of sobriety with a candid Instagram post, reflecting on both the challenges and rewards of getting clean.

“Today I have 20 months sober,” he wrote. “I am extremely proud. this hasn’t been easy. when you get sober… life still happens. You have to deal with all the same highs and lows as you did when you were using, but now you don’t have the ability to numb yourself.”

Grande went on to explain that sobriety forced him to fully experience every emotion, both positive and painful. “You feel it. You feel everything. Good and bad. but there is also beauty in that,” he continued. “over the past 20 months i have felt loss but i have also felt love. I felt joy, but I also felt grief. but the bottom line is… i felt. and that is such a gift.”

According to Grande, the support of his family, especially Ariana, played a critical role in helping him seek treatment. “There were two options: it was die or get clean. And that’s it,” he recalled. “Those were the only two options because that’s the only way that I was going to escape those feelings.”

Two weeks after the “One Love Manchester” concert, Grande checked himself into rehab on June 16, 2017. Now celebrating nine years of sobriety, he says the decision remains one of the most important moments of his life. “I’m so grateful I chose life,” Grande shared.

Recovery also allowed him to repair relationships that had been damaged during his addiction struggles. “It’s just been so indescribable to say how grateful I am to have [Ariana] in my life and to have repaired that relationship to the point where we’re so happy and comfortable with each other again,” he said.

In addition to releasing his memoir, Grande is currently starring in the hit Broadway musical “Titanique,” a role he originally played during the show’s Off-Broadway run. Inside Gisele Bundchen and Joaquim Valente s Romance 715

Gisele Bündchen has so much love for her husband, Joaquim Valente, on Father’s Day 2026.

“Happy Father’s Day @joaquimvalente! Thank you for leading by example, and for the values you embody, love, humility, integrity, discipline, kindness and consistency,” Bündchen, 45, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, June 21, alongside rare family photos of the couple and their infant son. “You are an incredible role model. We are all so grateful for you, and we love you so much.”

Bündchen and Valente, 38, welcomed their first baby together in February 2025. (The supermodel also shares son Benjamin, 16, and daughter Vivian, 13, with her ex-husband, Tom Brady.)

In Bündchen’s Sunday roundup, she also uploaded photos of Valente cuddling his son and two stepchildren.

“And dad, thank you for your unconditional love, wisdom and support through every stage of my life,” she concluded her post, referring to her own father. “Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. ❤️.”

Bündchen married Valente in December 2025 after nearly three years together. They started dating one year after Bündchen’s 2022 divorce from Brady, 48.

“This is the first time I am seeing someone that was a friend of mine first,” she recalled to The New York Times in 2024 of her then-newfound relationship with the jiu-jitsu instructor. “It’s very different. It is very honest, and it’s very transparent.”

At the time, Bündchen firmly denied any overlap between her relationships.

“That is a lie. This is something that happens to a lot of women who get blamed when they have the courage to leave an unhealthy relationship and are labeled as being unfaithful,” she stated, referring to then-rampant affair speculation. “They have to deal with their communities. They have to deal with their family. Of course for me, it just happens to be a little bit amplified.”

Bündchen and Brady, meanwhile, now coparent Benjamin and Vivian. (Brady is also the father of son Jack, 18, whom he shares with ex Bridget Moynahan.)
