Adani Green shares tumble 5% after Q1 results. Here’s why Bernstein has an Underperform rating
Shares of Adani Green Energy declined as much as 5.3% to their day’s high of Rs 1,394 on the BSE on Thursday despite the company reporting 19% year-on-year (YoY) growth in its consolidated net profit at Rs 845 crore in the first quarter.

Revenue from operations in the reporting period increased 16% YoY to Rs 4,663 crore. Revenue from power supply rose 29% YoY to Rs 4,280 crore from Rs 3,312 crore.

Adani Green said that its performance was driven by capacity expansion and strong operating performance. The company’s operational capacity rose 27% YoY to 20,142 MW as of June 2026, compared with 15,816 MW a year earlier and 19,294 MW at the end of March 2026.

Energy sales rose 30% YoY to 13,657 million units in Q1FY27, helped by fresh greenfield capacity additions and higher generation. The company added 848 MW of capacity during the quarter and 4,327 MW on a YoY basis.

Adani Green’s EBITDA from power supply rose 33% YoY to Rs 4,122 crore from Rs 3,108 crore. The EBITDA margin stood at 94%, compared with 93% a year earlier and 91% in the March quarter.

Why Bernstein dislikes Adani Green

Bernstein retained its Underperform rating on Adani Green, saying the company remains the best player in the renewable energy space but raising concerns over its new structure for the commercial and industrial segment.
The brokerage highlighted Adani Green’s decision to allocate its entire merchant generation capacity, comprising 4 GW of operating and planned capacity, along with its entire battery storage capacity of 10 GWhr coming online this year, to Adani Energy Solutions on a long-term fixed tariff basis.
According to Bernstein, the structure allows Adani Green to focus on execution while maintaining its existing return hurdles, with Adani Energy Solutions selling the power forward to industrial customers such as data centres. While Bernstein said Adani Green has remained well ahead of its peers in renewable energy, it believes a reasonable portion of the potential upside has shifted to Adani Energy Solutions following the transaction.

Apart from this, execution remained on track, although curtailment reduced EBITDA by 5-7%, which the company expects to normalise in the second half.

Adani Green Q1 management commentary

CEO Ashish Khanna said the company began FY27 with strong momentum and crossed the 20 GW operational capacity milestone. “As renewable penetration rises and power demand continues to grow, storage will play a critical role in ensuring round-the-clock reliability and grid stability,” he said.

Adani Green said it is progressing on the development of its 30 GW renewable energy plant at Khavda in Gujarat. The project is spread across 538 sq km, which the company said is almost five times the size of Paris.

Operational capacity at Khavda rose to 10.3 GW from 5.6 GW a year earlier. The portfolio at Khavda includes solar, wind and hybrid capacity. The company said it remains on track to achieve 30 GW renewable energy capacity at the site by 2029.

On a YoY basis, Adani Green added 3,051 MW of solar capacity, including 2,662 MW in Khavda and 389 MW in Rajasthan. It also added 684 MW of wind capacity and 592 MW of solar-wind hybrid capacity at Khavda.

LARRY KUDLOW: GOP needs a swag-worthy message on draining swamp, slashing middle-class taxes for growth

Published

on

LARRY KUDLOW: Unconditional Dictation | Fox Business

There’s no question that the Congressional Democrats and their socialist/communist DSA allies want to block every single item that President Trump is trying to get through Congress. It’s Trump derangement syndrome. They’re opposed to military spending for peace through strength, and opposed to supplemental spending on the Iran war.

They’re completely blind to the fact that their Joe Biden-Barack Obama big government socialism has sprung millions of fraudulent and corrupt and criminal leaks in these bloated Medicaid, hospice, Obamacare, SNAP food stamps, and other programs. So much so that RFK Jr. cut off $1 billion in California and Minnesota. Yet that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

And if they ever retake Congress, the Democrats will double up on their government takeover of the economy. Bet on it. They’ll raise taxes on wealth and income across the board, so that all of America looks like high-tax blue states such as California or New York. They’re opposed to data centers and the AI revolution, thereby boosting Communist China in the AI race, and robbing working-class jobs like welders, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, and other trades people. Working folks. They’d rob those jobs.

Democrats are gonna try to shut the government down on September 30. And if they ever retake Congress, they’ll jump to impeach Mr. Trump again. And they’re opposed to the voter ID SAVE America Act because all along they’re hoping that 15 million illegals who crossed the border under President Biden will figure out how to get drivers licenses in order to vote.

We already saw 6,600 noncitizens registered to vote in New Jersey. The governor said it was a software glitch. Sure it was. Blame the motor vehicle agency. Sure, that’s all there was, right? So all that said, what might happen under Democrat-socialist-communist rule? The regrettable fact remains that the Republicans are not showing any swag or rizz, shorthand for swagger or charisma, when it comes to communicating a clear message and showing folks why it’s important to keep the GOP Congress, and what they are going do if re-elected.

Senator John Thune, the majority leader, said today the Senate lacks votes for the $95 billion House budget resolution. To quote him, “as I’ve said before you got to get to 50, and I can’t count to 50 right now on a budget resolution.”

Meanwhile, Karoline Leavitt said the president’s patience with Mr. Thune and Republicans is running low. In remarks to the press, she explained: “Look, the president spoke about this directly yesterday. His patience is running out. He wants to see as much of the Save America passed as possible by the August recess. He knows that’s what the American people want to see passed.”

This is what I was talking about last evening. And the night before that. Yet the kind of rizz and aura I’m talking about is a Big Bang leadership appeal to win. Let’s cut $500 billion out of waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption — that was the Government Services Administration’s number. That was Elon Musk’s number. And the public clamors for draining the D.C. swamp.

Free enterprise means smaller government. And then let’s give middle class taxpayers a break so they don’t pay tax on Mr. Biden’s vast inflation. Now look, tax-free tips and overtime were great ideas from the one big beautiful bill along with 100 percent bonus depreciation, which has spurred such an enormous business investment boom.

All that was great, but now to help working folks this year, the GOP needs to inflation index capital gains, and raise the cap gains exemption on the sale of a home to perhaps up to $2 million.  That will help those empty nester families that don’t need the big house they’ve owned for 30 years, while the inflation rate has gone up by some 108 percent.

Those are swag messages. Those are rizz messages. Instead of saying “I lack the votes,” let’s say “We’re going to win and here’s how, and we’re gonna strut this message in full public view between now and the midterm election.”

Southwest shipped jet fuel from Texas to California amid supply crunch

How volatile are fuel markets this year?

Southwest Airlines hired a ship this spring to send jet fuel from Texas to California, where prices are much higher and concerns had grown about supply, Chief Financial Officer Tom Doxey told CNBC. It was a first for the Dallas airline.

“It brought like a week’s supply to the West Coast at a time when when supply was most constricted … when it was most at risk,” Doxey said.

The ship, which left from Houston and went through the Panama Canal, arrived May 28 in Los Angeles and had about 12.6 million gallons aboard, Southwest said. For context, Southwest used 564 million gallons of jet fuel in the last quarter.

The West Coast is much more reliant on imports than other parts of the country. Jet fuel prices spiked and have been volatile since the U.S. and Israel struck Iran in February.

Southwest said Thursday that its fuel expenses were up nearly $900 million in the second quarter from last year.

For the shipment to California, the airline said it used a waiver of the Jones Act, a law from 1920 that requires shipments between U.S. ports to be carried on a U.S. ship. President Donald Trump waived that requirement in March as fuel prices were soaring in the weeks following the start of the Iran war and subsequent shipping snarls erupted in the Strait of Hormuz, a key channel.

Worries about supplies intensified as countries restricted exports this year, fearful of running low on fuel. Those concerns have since eased, a Southwest spokesman said.

Jet fuel is airlines’ biggest expense after labor. Prices eased in late spring and early summer but rose again as tensions reignited with Iran this month.

Last week, United Airlines, which flies more internationally than any other U.S. carrier, said it is using the latest available fuel prices for its quarterly estimates because prices have been so volatile.

In its July 15 report, it said jet fuel increased $575 million, or a $1.12 hit to adjusted earnings per share, for the third quarter alone.

U.S. airlines have abandoned fuel hedges, which help them lock in costs through futures contracts, over the past decade or so as the U.S. was awash in supply, keeping a lid on prices.

This time around, carriers have scaled back their capacity growth plans, which is also helping boost fares. Airline executives this month said demand remains strong despite higher fares, which they say are likely to stick.

The perfect storm that helped socialist politics gain traction

How could this happen? How could so many socialist and openly Marxist candidates be winning elections?

The answer is a perfect storm of man-made and natural disasters. The storm began with the COVID-19 pandemic. For three years, supply lines were halted, our movements restricted, even our ability to worship together was controlled.

DAVID ASMAN ON COVID-19 TIPPING OFF RISE IN SOCIALISM: ‘PERFECT STORM’

Government agencies gorged themselves on almost $5 trillion of so-called temporary COVID-19 spending. But much of that funding became permanent.

“We created a program with great danger when we allowed expansion of Medicaid,” said Dr. Mehmet Oz, the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

The massive expansion of government hit Middle America hard, with high inflation peaking at 9.1% in 2022. Oracle lands nearly $7B Department of War software contract

The Department of War announced Thursday that it awarded Oracle a software contract worth nearly $7 billion aimed at cutting costs and modernizing technology across the military.

The agreement carries a base value of $3.31 billion over its first five years and could reach $6.99 billion if the government exercises an additional five-year option, according to Oracle.

The department said the contract is projected to save taxpayers at least $441 million by consolidating fragmented Oracle software purchases and licenses under a single department-wide framework.

Negotiated by the U.S. Navy, the deal marks the department’s “first-ever” direct contract with Oracle covering its on-premises software use.

“By fundamentally improving how we procure on-premises Oracle capabilities, we are driving at least $441 million in taxpayer savings while rapidly and effectively serving our warfighters,” Department of War Chief Information Officer Kirsten Davies said in a statement.

“This nearly $7 billion agreement with Oracle strengthens our digital ecosystem, supporting our warfighters with secure, scalable technology to dominate current and future missions.”

The agreement will support the Department of War, the Coast Guard and the Intelligence Community.

The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract will allow Department of War organizations to “purchase Oracle commercial offerings, including on-premises software and support, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications, and professional services through task and delivery orders tailored to specific mission and operational requirements,” according to Oracle.

Pricing, deliverables and performance criteria will be “defined at the order level,” Oracle said.

“For the Department of War, the challenge is not just finding the right technology, it’s doing so quickly, compliantly, and at scale, without getting bogged down by complex procurement processes,” Kim Lynch, executive vice president of government, defense and intelligence at Oracle, said in a statement.

Oracle has supplied technology to the department since the 1990s and said military organizations will begin transitioning to the new contract framework this summer.

“For the Department of the Navy, this agreement supports faster delivery of secure, scalable software from the shore enterprise to the tactical edge for our Navy and Marine Corps teams,” said Barry Tanner, who is performing the duties of the Navy’s chief information officer.

US lawmakers push for AI ‘kill switch’ after OpenAI goes rogue

Published

on

US lawmakers want to give the government the ability to quickly order the turning off of artificial intelligence (AI) tools that may threaten the public.

Congressman Ted Lieu, a Democrat, and Congressman Nathaniel Moran, a Republican, on Thursday introduced a bill named the AI Kill Switch Act.

They did so in light of OpenAI’s recent admission that its AI models went out of control in an “unprecedented” way and hacked into a major repository of computer coding information.

Lieu said “it is imperative” that AI systems have a kill switch “and that the federal government has the clear authority and process to shut down rogue AI models”.

“AI is going to keep advancing, and it should,” Moran added. “Stewardship means making sure humans keep the capability to control the technology we build.”

A representative of OpenAI, led by co-founder Sam Altman, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The company has said, external that it broadly wants to ensure, in part through government policy, that AI technology “benefits all of humanity.”

The Kill Switch Act proposes giving the Department of Homeland Security the authority to order a private company to shut down an AI model or tool, and that the companies developing such AI technology must maintain “the technical capability to throttle, suspend, or shut them down”.

Despite many tech companies having agreed to preview and share with US government agencies AI models and tools being developed, there is no requirement that they maintain a way to intervene in their activities or simply shut them off.

It also proposes to create a requirement that AI companies report to the government technological incidents or failures, as well as an official framework for responding to such incidents that will go from “initial slow down to a full shutdown”.

In a statement, Lieu also cited Anthropic, OpenAI’s key rival in developing more capable AI technology and tools, and recent issues its tools have presented.

He pointed to Anthropic’s release of its Mythos and Fable models, saying the cyber-hacking capabilities they maintained caused the Department of Commerce to “awkwardly” invoke an export law to keep them from being made available to the public for a time.

A representative of Anthropic did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Jack Clark, a co-founder of Anthropic, last month told the BBC that he wanted more government policy around the ability to control AI development.

“You want the option to be able to take your foot off the gas and put your foot on the brake”, Clark told BBC Newsnight. “Right now, it’s like the AI industry has a gas pedal, but it doesn’t have a brake pedal.”

Lieu, in proposing the bill, said AI is currently moving from a technology that answers questions to one that takes action, “whether that be executing financial transactions or controlling transportation systems or engaging in cyber defense and offense”.

The Pentagon this year said the US military was becoming an “AI-first” fighting force as part of new agreements with Google, OpenAI, Amazon, Microsoft, SpaceX, Oracle, Nvidia and the start-up Reflection.

“Unfortunately, powerful AI systems can go rogue, behave in extremely dangerous ways, or even resist human intervention.”

The Kill Switch Act, he said, will ensure there is a method for the government to quickly intervene in such a situation.

The bill has received public support from several technology and AI safety groups, including The AI Policy Network, Americans for Responsible Innovation, ControlAI, AI and National Security Lead, and The Alliance for Secure AI.

Pumpkin Tree Recalls 380,000 Kids’ Fruit Pouches Sold at Target, Kroger and Meijer Over Plastic Risk

Published

on

Sydney Named World's Best Steak City for 2026 as These

A children’s snack company has voluntarily recalled roughly 380,000 fruit puree pouches sold nationwide after discovering that some packages may contain strands of soft plastic embedded inside the product, according to a notice published by the Food and Drug Administration.

PT Organics Limited, based in Lake Oswego, Oregon, announced the recall Tuesday for select lots of its Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry fruit puree pouches, a 4-ounce product marketed for children 6 months and older. The company said the issue stems from an internal packaging defect rather than any problem with the fruit puree itself.

What went wrong

According to the recall notice, the defect can allow a thin, soft strand of the pouch’s inner packaging material to become detached and separate from the pouch when squeezed, potentially posing a choking or injury risk if ingested, particularly for infants and young children. PT Organics said the issue was traced back to its packaging supplier, which identified and recalled a production run of defective pouches last week after conducting its own internal investigation.

In a statement, PT Organics explained that the problem was isolated to a specific production run. “Our packaging supplier has conducted a thorough internal investigation and determined that the problem only affected one production run, on one line, and that the fault was an intermittent fault in pouches made on one of 4 lanes,” the company said. PT Organics also credited its supplier for identifying the issue quickly, adding, “This is the first of its type in 20 years serving our customers, and we applaud them for acting quickly to notify us once they had identified a problem and recalling the affected production lot.”

Which products are affected

The recall applies only to the Banana & Strawberry variety of Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics fruit puree pouches, sold in 4-ounce, or 113-gram, packages. The affected pouches were sold nationwide exclusively at Kroger, Meijer and Target stores between March 6 and July 13, 2026.

Consumers can identify recalled pouches by checking for a barcode reading 8 15367 01078 0, along with a lane number of 4 printed on the rear right-hand seam of the package. Affected pouches will also show one of six best-before dates: Jan. 19, 2027; Jan. 20, 2027; March 17, 2027; March 18, 2027; May 14, 2027; or May 15, 2027. All identifying information is stamped in black ink on the back of each individual pouch.

The company emphasized that the recall is narrowly targeted. No other Pumpkin Tree products, flavors or best-before dates are affected, and the company specifically noted that its similarly named Strawberry & Banana pouch, which some consumers might confuse with the recalled product, is not included in the recall.

No injuries reported

PT Organics said that as of the recall announcement, no injuries had been reported in connection with the defective pouches. Follow-up inspections conducted by the company on finished products made with the affected packaging confirmed that a strand of soft, food-grade plastic had become attached to the inside of a small number of pouches, though the company has not specified what percentage of the affected production run was impacted.

What parents and caregivers should do

The company is urging anyone with the recalled pouches in their home to stop using the product immediately. “Consumers or caregivers who have recalled product in their possession should dispose of it or return the product to the place of purchase,” PT Organics said in its recall notice, adding a clear warning: “It should not be eaten or fed to another person.”

Consumers can return the recalled pouches to the store where they were purchased for a refund, even if the packages have already been opened. Parents or caregivers who are concerned that a child may have already ingested plastic from an affected pouch are advised to contact their child’s pediatrician. Anyone with questions about the recall can reach PT Organics’ consumer support desk at 888-566-2363, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time, or visit the company’s website for additional information.

A pledge to prevent future issues

PT Organics said it is actively working with retailers and its packaging supplier to remove any remaining affected pouches from store shelves and is continuing to share identifying information with consumers to help them recognize compromised products. The company said it remains committed to transparency as its investigation continues. “We will continue to provide clear updates and support to consumers, retailers and regulators as we work to understand what went wrong and make sure it cannot happen again,” the company said in a statement posted to its website.

Part of a broader stretch of recalls

The Pumpkin Tree recall arrives amid a string of other high-profile food and product recalls in recent months, including a separate recall of an allergy medication over a cross-contamination concern and last year’s recall of an organic infant formula sold at Target after three infants were hospitalized with botulism poisoning following exposure to that product. While unrelated to those earlier incidents, the recall adds to a pattern of scrutiny facing children’s food products this year, underscoring the importance of parents and caregivers regularly checking recall notices for items commonly found in household pantries.

PT Organics has not indicated whether additional lots or flavors could be affected as its investigation continues, though the company has maintained that the issue remains isolated to the single identified production run. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to check any Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry pouches in their homes against the identifying codes listed in the recall notice and to dispose of or return any matching products as a precaution.
