IND vs AUS hockey live streaming: Where to watch today’s World Cup match? | Other Sports News

The Indian women’s hockey team will face Australia in a crucial Pool E encounter at the Wagener Hockey Stadium in Amstelveen on Sunday, August 23, knowing that nothing less than a victory will keep their hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the Women’s Hockey World Cup 2026 alive.

India entered the second phase with one carryover point after finishing second in Pool D, having played out a 2-2 draw against China. Australia also carried one point into Pool E after drawing 1-1 with China in their opening second-phase match.

The equation became more difficult for India after they suffered a 0-2 defeat against defending champions the Netherlands in their first Phase 2 match. The result left India needing a win against Australia, while also relying on the Netherlands to beat China, to have a chance of progressing to the semi-finals.

India’s resilience faces another major test

India began their World Cup campaign unbeaten, holding China to a 2-2 draw before producing an emphatic 6-1 win over South Africa. They then secured qualification for the second phase with a goalless draw against England.

The 0-2 loss to the Netherlands, however, exposed the margin for error against the tournament’s strongest sides. India will now have to quickly regroup against Australia, with their attacking players needing to be more clinical and the defence prepared for sustained pressure.

Deepika has been one of India’s key attacking outlets during the tournament, while Savita Punia brings experience and composure in goal. India will need to combine their defensive discipline with quicker transitions and better execution inside the circle if they are to overcome Australia.

The stakes are particularly high because India cannot afford another defeat. A win would keep their semi-final hopes alive and put pressure on China, who face the Netherlands in the other Pool E match.

Australia provide another stern challenge

Australia enter the contest as one of the leading teams in the tournament and will also be desperate for a positive result after being held to a 1-1 draw by China in their opening Phase 2 game.

Their ability to maintain pressure, create circle entries and force penalty corners will pose a significant challenge for India. The Hockeyroos also possess the depth to sustain their intensity across all four quarters, making India’s defensive organisation particularly important.

India will need to avoid spending long periods trapped in their own half and must make the most of their chances on the counter. The match could ultimately be decided by which side handles the pressure better in the attacking circle.

For India, there is little room for calculation. With their semi-final hopes on the line, the contest against Australia is effectively a must-win encounter. A victory would keep their World Cup campaign alive, while anything less could bring their hopes of reaching the last four to an end.

NFL analyst puts Deshaun Watson on blast for claiming home fans booing QB was “personal”

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is competing with Shedeur Sanders for the starting role. Watson, who has not played in the NFL since his Achilles tear in 2024, was booed by fans during the preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.

Watson went 5-for-12 for 36 passing yards and one interception and was booed by fans as he exited the home preseason game. Following the game, the veteran quarterback said the reaction from fans was “personal.”

“I think the whole world knows it has nothing to do with the performance,” Watson said. “It’s a little bit more personal than that. So, I think it’s a disrespectful thing.”

NFL commentator Joe reacted to Watson’s comments after he was booed by the Browns fans.

“Yeah, dude. You’re widely believed to be a s*x criminal, you are the highest paid QB ever, the Browns replaced a star QB with you, and you’ve been objectively abysmal ever since leaving Houston. I’d be kind of worried if they didn’t hate you.”

Yeah, dude. You’re widely believed to be a s*x criminal, you are the highest paid QB ever, the Browns replaced a star QB with you, and you have been objectively abysmal ever since leaving Houston. I’d be kind of worried if they didn’t hate you.

Watson, who signed a blockbuster five-year, $230 million deal with the Browns in 2022 after a trade from the Houston Texans, has managed just 19 games with a 9-10 record, 3,365 yards, 19 touchdowns and 12 interceptions over four seasons.

Apart from his injury struggles, Watson’s off-field controversy has also sparked criticism. He faced 27 civil lawsuits accusing him of se*ual misconduct and assault during massage therapy sessions.

Although he settled the lawsuits and wasn’t convicted, he was suspended for 11 games and was handed a $5 million fine by the NFL in 2022 in the wake of the allegations.

Shedeur Sanders didn’t “appreciate” boos from Browns fans for Deshaun Watson

Deshaun Watson, who hopes to reclaim his spot on the Browns lineup, faces competition from second-year quarterback Shedeur Sanders for the starting role.

Despite the competition, Sanders didn’t “appreciate” the reaction from fans during the Bills game.

“Yeah, I mean, in general, I don’t appreciate that at all,” Sanders said. “Regardless of competition, we’re all human beings. I think we all need to understand that. In this room too, we’re all humans. I don’t do things to humans that I wouldn’t want done to me.

“For all the fans, we appreciate you showing up, and however you feel about the situation with Deshaun and everything, I think it’s more about a bigger purpose and it’s respect. We’re going out there to win games, doing everything we can. So I don’t really appreciate that.”

It will be interesting to see the reaction from Browns fans if Watson is named the starting quarterback over Sanders for the 2026 season after Saturday’s fallout.
