Best bingo sites UK: How The Independent rate and review

  • Legislation – All our recommended bingo sites are fully licensed and regulated by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC). This means that customers can rest assured that the site is fully legal.
  • Welcome offer – We grade bingo sites on the value of their welcome offers, ensuring that new customers are receiving value for money when they sign up whether it be credits for bingo games, casino funds or free spins.
  • Games – The best bingo sites should offer a wide selection of games, including 90, 80, 75, 50 and 30-ball bingo along with Swedish Bingo and Slingo.
  • Promotions – We look for bingo sites that reward existing customers for their loyalty. Rewards include bingo bonuses, free games and spins along with special prizes.
  • Bingo app – A large number of bingo players will be playing on their mobile device, so offering an app that has great functionality and usability across both Apple and Android platforms is a must. Some new casino sites will offer bingo through their casino app, and having an all-in-one platform is also another plus from our perspective.
  • Payment options – Bingo sites should provide a good range of payment options, including debit card, bank transfers, e-wallets and Apple Pay. Instant payout bingo sites or a fast withdrawal casino with bingo on it offer an added bonus when it comes to banking, allowing you to withdraw your money almost instantly in some cases.
  • Customer support – We expect all gambling sites to offer a wide range of options for customers to contact them should they experience any issues.
  • Responsible gambling – Our recommended bingo sites all offer safer gambling tools such as deposit limits, reality checks and self-exclusion. These should be readily available to all users, as should links to gambling support charities and healthcare providers.

Getting started with online bingo is straightforward, even if you’re completely new to it.

  1. Choose one of the best bingo sites UK — this might mean prioritising an appealing welcome offer, a wide range of bingo rooms, mobile-friendly design, or ongoing promotions for regular players. It all depends on your preference.
  2. Once you’ve picked of the standout bingo sites, hit the sign-up button and enter your details. You’ll need to provide some basic personal information such as your name, address and date of birth, and possibly a bingo promo code if the offer requires it.
  3. Reputable bingo sites will then ask you to verify your identity — either by entering a code sent via SMS, email or uploading photo ID.
  4. Next, head to the banking section to make your first deposit. Choose your preferred payment method and check if there’s a minimum amount needed to qualify for the welcome offer.
  5. With your account set up and funded, simply browse the available bingo rooms, pick your game, and buy your ticket to start playing.

What Bingo bonuses and offers are available?

There are a range of promotions and offers available on UK bingo sites, and they can be grouped into the following categories:

  • Deposit bonus – New and existing customers are eligible to receive a deposit bonus from bingo sites after signing up online and making their first deposit – some sites offer a 100 per cent match on your initial deposit up to a value of £200.
  • Free spins – Some customers can unlock free spins on slot games on bingo sites. This allows users to explore new areas of the bingo site without having to risk any real money.
  • Free games – At certain times, bingo sites will offer customers free tickets to play selected bingo games.
  • Loyalty bonuses – Some online bingo sites reward regular players with bonuses that can include no deposit free spins, bingo games, entry to competitions or free tickets.
  • Cashback – Cashback bonuses can be offered sporadically by bingo sites to refund losses.
  • Tournaments – Bingo sites will often run special tournaments, which may include high-stakes prizes.

Remember that gambling is only a form of entertainment, not a way to make money.

Gambling apps can be addictive, so remember to never wager more than you can afford to lose, and take steps to remain in control of your budget.

If necessary, you can make use of responsible gambling tools offered by bingo sites, such as deposit limits, loss limits, self-exclusion and time-outs.

Should you wish to seek help for gambling-related issues, there are several charities, organisations and healthcare providers who offer support and information:

Lionel Messi retires from Argentina duty: 39-year-old bows out after defeat in World Cup final to Spain – just a few weeks after his father passed away

Published

on

Lionel Messi has announced his retirement from Argentina duty after 21 years in the team

Lionel Messi has announced his retirement from international football following Argentina’s defeat in the World Cup final to Spain last month.

The 39-year-old revealed on Monday afternoon that he made the decision to retire two days after the 1-0 defeat in the final on July 19, citing it was ‘the right’ time’.

Messi then added in a note at the bottom of a statement that the death of his father Jorge at the start of the month made him ‘even more convinced than before’ about his decision.

His statement on Instagram read: ‘After all this time that has passed since the final, and after much thought, I want to announce to everyone that I am retiring from the National Team…

‘It was a decision that hurt, and still hurts, to my core, but I understand that it’s the right time. I swear that I always gave my all, not just in the last few years when we won everything, but before that too. I always fought and gave everything for this jersey, to bring you joy and make you proud to be Argentinian through football.’

Messi made his debut for Argentina in 2005 as an 18-year-old, going on to earn over 200 caps for his country, and captained the nation to their third World Cup triumph in 2022.

The attacker netted 125 goals in the famous blue and white, eight of which came during the World Cup in the US, Mexico and Canada, while he also won two Copa America titles.

But after 21 years of playing international football, Messi stated ‘I have nothing more to give’ and that he believes there are plenty of ‘great young players’ ready in line to replace him.

He continued: ‘Thank you for all the love and support over these 20 years. I’m going to miss hearing you all from the inside so much. Now I’m going to be just one of you, cheering and supporting you from the sidelines (in good times and bad, even more so).

‘Thank you to my family for always being there, for accompanying me on this beautiful but difficult journey. Thank you to each and every one of the coaches, teammates, and managers I had the privilege of working with. I take with me unforgettable memories and moments.

‘I leave with the peace and pride of having given you, along with my teammates, dreamlike moments. It was incredible to have experienced it with you all. I love you!

‘Thank you, God, for making me Argentinian. Go Argentina!’

The footballing world has paid tribute to Messi, whom many consider the greatest footballer of his generation – if not every – with many of the Argentina squad writing messages of thanks on social media.

Argentina’s Rodrigo De Paul, considered one of Messi’s closest team-mates, wrote a heartfelt message for the legendary attacker on his Instagram story.

It read: ‘Your unconditional love for our country, your internal battles to never give up, your strength to always endure injustice, your leadership and human qualities with every player who entered the training grounds to make them feel welcome, the thoughtful gestures towards every member of our national team staff…

‘Simply thank you, the greatest of all time, thank you for making us so incredibly happy, you can’t imagine how many smiles you brought to our faces. You are eternal.

Angel Di Maria, Cristian Romero and many others also relayed their love for their captain on social media.

Another team-mate of Messi’s, Leandro Paredes, who is currently serving a 10-match ban from international football for his antics following the World Cup final, dubbed the former Barcelona star ‘the greatest of all’ in his tribute.

‘Thank you for absolutely everything,’ he wrote. ‘You are and always will be the greatest of all. We love you, captain.’

Messi has previously hinted that he was considering retirement from football following the devastating death of his father, Jorge, who was an integral figure in the career of his legendary son.

Jorge passed away on August 7 following a battle with illness that overshadowed the Argentina captain’s mesmerising World Cup campaign in the United States.

Lionel, who broke down in tears following Argentina’s group-stage win over Algeria while Jorge’s health was deteriorating, shared a heartbreaking letter to his father on Instagram at the time – in which he cast doubt on his playing future.

‘Dad, I still can’t believe you’re gone. It hasn’t sunk in yet, or rather, I don’t want to accept it. It’s very difficult for me to imagine never seeing you again, never talking to you again. I know you were suffering and that this is for the best, but you left too soon. We still had so much to enjoy together.

‘I don’t know what I’ll do without you, I don’t know how to go on. I only played football and now I have serious doubts that I’ll continue doing that for much longer. You were by my side from the beginning, it was so close to the end. Why couldn’t you hold on that little bit longer and we could have finished together?’

Messi revealed that his father was the driving force behind his decision to play at this summer’s World Cup, but he will not attempt to play at a record seventh in four years at the age of 43.

The death of Messi’s father saw an outpouring of emotional tributes from the football world, including from Messi’s first team Newell’s Old Boys, as well as Barcelona and his great rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo, whose own father, Jose Dinis Aveiro, passed away in 2005, passed on ‘much strength’ to Messi in these ‘tough times’.

Messi steps away from international football as one of the most successful ever to play the sport. In his two decades playing for Argentina, he won five titles with the national team, including the magical World Cup triumph in Qatar.

The forward netted seven of his 21 goals in the tournament en route to Argentina lifting the trophy, including a brace against France in the final at the Lusail Stadium.

It is believed that Messi will continue to play at club level for Inter Miami in the MLS, with his contract set to expire in 2028.

The forward once again showed that he is still a class apart despite everything he has gone through this past month, netting four goals in Miami’s 7-1 thumping of CF Montreal in the league.

Messi’s historic career at club level dates back to 2000, when he moved to Spain to join Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy from his childhood club, Newell’s Old Boys, in Argentina.

He became the greatest of all time in an incredible 21 years in Barcelona, before stunning the world with a move to Paris Saint-Germain – orchestrated by Jorge – in 2021.

He moved to Inter Miami in 2023, where it seems he will stay for a further two years as he enters his 40s.

John Galliano exhibition at New York’s Met cancelled after backlash

Published

on

A missile against the dark sky

Others had previously voiced their opposition to the Met’s plan to commemorate Galliano.

Julie Menin, speaker of New York City Council, said, external: “After my numerous and lengthy meetings and conversations with the Met, I am pleased that they have agreed to not honour John Galliano.

“From the beginning, I have told them that I strongly disagreed with this decision, and at this rising time of antisemitism, it had served as a gut punch to the Jewish community.

“This is the correct decision, as the harm and pain this was causing was simply unacceptable.”

Meanwhile, Jonathan Greenblatt, chief executive of the Anti-Defamation League, which aims to counter antisemitism, said that with antisemitism at “crisis levels”, honouring Galliano would be “misguided”.

“Even Galliano ultimately recognised what the Met should have done from the start,” he added. “This was the wrong move at the wrong moment. Timing matters.”

Galliano is regarded by some as one of the greatest fashion designers and returned to the fashion industry following his conviction, serving as creative director of Margiela for a decade until 2024.

Aryna Sabalenka steps onto court wearing over 127 carats of eye-popping jewellery as she prepares for US Open trophy defence

on

Aryna Sabalenka was dripping in coloured gemstones as she stepped onto court in New York

Aryna Sabalenka began the journey to defending her back-to-back US Open wins dripping in rare gemstones with her final custom Grand Slam jewellery set of the season.

The world No1 partnered up at the start of the year with New York jeweller Material Good and has since debuted a new eye-catching array of pieces in Melbourne, Paris, and London.

But in keeping with the bold style of the US Open itself, her necklace, bracelet and earring set for the Big Apple is particularly vivid, featuring an array of coloured stones said to represent the city’s ‘multicultural melting pot heritage’.

Sabalenka’s necklace is set in 18-carat gold, featuring 83.20 total carats, courtesy of its sapphire, tourmaline, garnet, zircon, spinel, chrysoberyl, and tanzanite stones.

A matching bracelet, worn during her media duties, and stud earrings which can be lengthened feature similar stones, with the carats of the set as a whole totalling over 127.

Sabalenka is one of 128 players in the women’s main draw, with the carats perhaps representing each of the peers chasing her US Open crown.

Aryna Sabalenka was dripping in coloured gemstones as she stepped onto court in New York

‘Design elements were drawn from New York’s colourful spirit and unmistakable energy,’ Material Good’s description of the suite – which is available for fans to purchase upon inquiry – read.

At Wimbledon, Sabalenka wore a set worth a staggering £185,000 made up of a necklace, earrings, and an anklet, made up of predominantly green stones in a nod to the Championships’ grass courts.

Her 18 karat gold necklace featured 41 fancy brown diamonds and 10 heart-shaped emeralds, more than 46 carats combined, is worth nearly £125,000 ($165,000) on its own, just £1,000 less than the prize money for reaching the second round.

The matching stud earrings, with removable jackets, are worth nearly £35,700 ($47,200) while the 11-carat, 27-emerald anklet costs £24,700 ($32,700).

At the French Open, Sabalenka hit back at accusations of hypocrisy after she wore £76,000 worth of jewellery while cutting short her pre-tournament press conference as part the protest by 20 of the world’s top stars over prize money.

Sabalenka wore two necklaces and matching earrings at Roland Garros made up of 15.6 carat diamonds and 136.5 carat garnet while in Melbourne donned a pendant necklace with a 4.3 carat sapphire in the middle with matching dangling diamond and sapphire earrings.

The Belarusian star kicks off her tournament on Arthur Ashe against Colombia’s Camila Osorio, with her ranking and her season under threat of a stuttered finish following a difficult summer.

But Sabalenka looked to pounce early as she broke Osorio’s serve in the first set, giving her a 3-1 lead with over 15 minutes played.

Inside the onion bhaji summit where John Swinney mapped out the SNP’s next five years

Published

on

Daily Record

John Swinney mapped out his next five years at an onion bhaji summit at Stirling University’s Pathfoot Building on Friday.

It was there that SNP MSPs, MPs and council group leaders met for an away day to talk strategy.

The First Minister and SNP chief executive Callum McCaig – a former Government special adviser – led the sessions.

Tuesday’s Programme for Government was the main focus, but there was a broader political discussion about where the SNP finds itself.

Swinney allies believe their man, who has had nearly 19 uninterrupted years in Government, is at the peak of his powers.

May’s Holyrood election win gave him a personal mandate after years in the shadow of Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon.

He is also surveying the wreckage of his rivals.

Reform UK, which is full of rookie MSPs, is isolated at Holyrood and struggling to make an impression.

Scottish Labour is divided and demoralised, having slumped to 17 MSPs three months ago.

The 38 per cent won by Swinney in May – the SNP’s lowest constituency total in nearly two decades – was the same as Labour’s best ever result in 1999.

Voters reduced the Scottish Tories to a rump, while the two parties that improved their standing – the Lib Dems and Greens – are nowhere near the SNP on seats.

One senior SNP source said of the Government: “The ball is in our court. We are in a position to get things done.”

The key themes of the PfG will include tackling child poverty, combating violence against women and public sector reform.

The SNP source said Swinney’s “tone” will be markedly different and predicted he will reach out to the other parties.

Sturgeon was focused on the Greens – a partnership that ended in disaster – but Swinney’s big tent will include the Lib Dems and Labour.

The insider said: “We think we have a dance partner for everything we are going to do.”

Part of Swinney’s objective is to ensure the opposition parties back the Government on policies they agree with.

In the last term, the SNP and Labour agreed on a national care service, but a mutual loathing between senior figures in both parties saw the plan die.

Culling NHS boards, which Swinney is expected to announce, should not be a problem for Scottish Labour given it was one of its manifesto commitments in May.

The First Minister also believes four key posts are crucial for him to do his job properly in Government – chief of staff, Permanent Secretary, Principal Private Secretary and SNP chief executive.

A source close to the FM said he is known to be happy with the team he has around him.

He also believes the SNP group is an upgrade on before and, with Jenny Gilruth, Stephen Flynn and Mairi McAllan occupying senior Cabinet positions, succession planning is in the pipeline.

However, pitfalls lie in wait for Swinney.

The independence movement is impatient and the First Minister cannot shake off the failed Sturgeon strategy of simply demanding indyref2 from Westminster.

A likely shift in position on oil and gas – where Swinney is expected to back new drilling – could trigger a backlash among climate-conscious members.

And the looming iceberg of a £4.7bn budget black hole will bring endless difficulties for Swinney.

The First Minister has a five-year plan, but he remains a hostage to events outside his control.

Love Is Blind UK’s Jack flooded with support after alcohol admission

Published

on

Daily Mirror

One of Love Is Blind’s most controversial season three stars has opened up about a personal battle

Love Is Blind UK star Jack Bradshaw has opened up about an off-screen battle he’s been “working on”.

The 30-year-old, from Cornwall, joined the latest series of the Netflix dating show in hunt of a wife. He found a spark with both Faye Domaille and Ciara Murphy during the blind dating stage of the experiment, but ultimately married Faye.

Although their relationship hit a couple of hurdles during the show, Jack and Faye have confirmed they are still together a year after their televised wedding. The pair has even been travelling around the world together, stopping everywhere from Australia to Vietnam.

But former chef Jack has also been addressing his “bad relationship” with alcohol over the last 12 months.

“I’ve made a lot of personal growth throughout the last year and one of the things I recognized needed a lot of work was my relationship with alcohol,” he revealed in a recent interview with presenter Will Njobvu.

“You don’t realise it when you’re in it. And it’s hard to say that you have a bad relationship with alcohol because you’re not waking up at seven in the morning drinking vodka before work. That’s a problem with alcohol.”

The newfound reality star continued: “A bad relationship with alcohol could be many things. I have realised my relationship with alcohol, I use it as a coping mechanism, a stress reliever to take the edge off.”

He explained that his alcohol use increases when he feels stressed. “When I feel stressed I drink more. When I feel very stressed I drink very much and self-destruct,” Jack said. “And that is something that over the last year I’ve been working on massively. [But] we still drink, we still party.”

The Netflix star has received overwhelming support following this admission, with one fan on TikTok commenting: “Impressed by him, well done.”

Someone else chimed in: “We love an accountable King! everybody makes mistakes, nobody is perfect,” while a third praised: “Love this growth.” And a final viewer joined in with: “I actually love Jack now, what a guy.”

Jack’s confession comes after a very divisive stint on the reality show. Fans were left conflicted about the reality star when he vanished from his shared apartment with Faye after a party, and seemingly hid his iPhone location from her.

He later explained that he took a long walk to clear his head, and admitted his actions were “selfish”.

Viewers felt his sudden disappearance was a “red flag” and urged Faye to think twice before walking down the aisle. But Jack appears to be back in the public’s good books since the show came to an end.

Lindsay Clancy jurors' outfits spark wild verdict speculation as deliberations continue: Live updates

There is growing speculation that a Lindsay Clancy verdict may be imminent because of how the jury is dressed.

The jury of three men and nine women started deliberating on Thursday afternoon and have so far only asked one question about the case.

On Monday, crime reporters in the courtroom noticed that they appeared to be dressed more formally, sparking speculation that today may be the day that a verdict is reached.

Other online commentators have picked up on the fact that two of the jurors are wearing pink – the same color Lindsay Clancy supporters have worn since the start of the trial.

Clancy is on trial for killing her three children Cora, five, Dawson, three, and Callan, eight months, using exercise bands at her Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023. She has admitted to the slayings but pleaded not guilty to murder.

Jurors are now in their third day of deliberations. Defense lawyer Kevin Reddington confirmed to the Daily Mail that the jury requested to see the two bags of pill bottles and the knife found by police on the night of the killings on Friday.

The defense argued that the former labor and delivery nurse was suffering from postpartum depression and psychosis brought on by overmedication, while prosecutors maintained that she was aware of and in control of her actions.

A jury of nine women and three men, who are non-sequestered, will decide if the Massachusetts mom is guilty of first degree murder, second degree murder or manslaughter, or if she is not guilty by reason of insanity.

Lindsay Clancy jurors’ outfits spark verdict speculation

Courtroom reporters and online observers noted a change in attire from several Lindsay Clancy jurors.

The group appeared to be dressed up today, with one man sporting a tie, one person wrote on X.

Some social media users have speculated the change in outfits could indicate the jury is prepared to render their verdict today.

‘Are we getting a verdict later today in the Lindsay Clancy trial?’ one person wrote on X.

‘Always interesting when the jury collectively changes their normal attire. Saying a prayer for them today.’

Others claimed that two female jurors allegedly wore pink outfits in court.

Clancy’s supporters have come out in droves to the courthouse, wearing pink in solidarity with her.

The judge has ordered the members of the jury to not discuss or read anything about the case.

‘Female jurors are wearing pink in the Lindsay Clancy case. Seems a bit inappropriate even if it is not them signaling,’ another person wrote on X.

She does not deny she killed them, but has pleaded not guilty and claimed she is not responsible for her actions because she was suffering postpartum psychosis after being prescribed a powerful cocktail of drugs to cope with depression.

The prosecution has argued the killings were intentional and well planned, not the work of someone who had lost control.

Jurors are now deciding if she is guilty of murder, manslaughter or not guilty due to a lack of criminal responsibility.

If convicted of murder, she faces life in prison without parole.

If the jury finds her guilty of manslaughter, she faces a maximum sentence of 20 years behind bars.

If found not guilty due to a lack of criminal responsibility, she would be committed to a state mental health facility.

Lindsay Clancy trial judge William F. Sullivan once blocked psychosis evidence in another killer mom case

The judge presiding over Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial once handled the case of another killer mom with chilling parallels – and his decision to block medical evidence resulted in a shocking retrial.

Judge William F Sullivan, 69, has led the proceedings in Clancy’s case, where prosecutors contend the former nurse intentionally killed her three children.

In 2022, Sullivan presided over the murder trial of Latarsha Sanders, another Massachusetts mother who killed her two sons.

WATCH: Lindsay Clancy’s defense attorney’s closing arguemnt

Lindsay Clancy’s defense attorney described her as a ‘damn good mother’ who did ‘nothing wrong’ before she strangled her children to death during emotional closing arguments.

Reddington vehemently defended his client throughout the trial, but further emphasized his belief during his closing statement.

What happened to the Clancy children?

On January 24, 2023, Clancy announced she’d had an exhausting day looking after their three young children so she asked husband Patrick if he didn’t mind going out on an errand. He just needed to pick up some children’s medicine and a takeout dinner order as she’d been too tired to cook, she told him.

Patrick, 36, who worked in software sales for Microsoft, was happy to oblige. But when he returned to their home in the well-to-do Boston coastal suburb of Duxbury less than an hour later at around 6pm, he discovered that their happy family existence had been snuffed out in an act of almost unimaginable violence.

After going upstairs to find his wife, who he imagined was giving the children a bath, he discovered their second-floor bedroom door was locked and had to force his way in. Inside, there was blood on the floor, a bloody knife on the nightstand and the room was chilly as a window had been left open.

He ran downstairs to find his wife lying barely conscious outside. She had cut her wrists and neck before jumping out of the window, falling some 20ft onto frozen ground. She told him she’d tried to kill herself, adding – when he asked – that the children were in the basement.

Patrick stayed by her side for the next 10 minutes after dialing 911, convinced that she might die before the paramedics arrived.

Only when they turned up did he hurry inside to find the children – five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson and Callan, just eight months. They were indeed in the basement – they had all been strangled with resistance bands.

WATCH: Prosecution’s closing arguments

ADA Jennifer Sprague presented the closing argument and asked the jury to find Clancy guilty of murder on Thursday.

‘She knew what she did was wrong. She could conform her behavior to the law and chose not to,’ Sprague said.

‘She didn’t expect to have any consequences because she expected to die with her children.

‘You know it was deliberate premeditation because of the way she killed them and the way they died.’

Sprague continued: ‘She didn’t see them in that moment as individual human beings with rights, with dreams, with futures.

‘She didn’t bring them up to their beds; she left them, discarded on the basement floor, like broken toys, like she was done playing the game. You know, to a moral certainty, she is guilty.’

One member of the jury appeared to wipe away tears during the closing argument.

Who is on the Lindsay Clancy jury?

A panel of 12 jurors are deliberating in a private room on whether they find Lindsay Clancy guilty of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, or manslaughter.

The jury includes nine women and three men. The foreperson is a woman. They have not been sequestered for deliberations.

The group deliberated for 10 hours last week without reaching a verdict.

Lindsay Clancy trial witness RESIGNS from hospital job hours after testifying against her

A psychiatrist who testified against Lindsay Clancy at her murder trial resigned from his hospital job hours after taking the stand.

Dr Avram Mack concluded that the 36-year-old was criminally responsible for killing her children after he interviewed her in April this year.

He then repeatedly clashed with defense attorney Kevin Reddington under cross-examination.
