24 Years Ago, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Made Internet History With One Line

Published

Dolly-Parton-STRAIGHT-TALK-2

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is iconic, in more ways than one. From subverting the supernatural horror genre to introducing a colorful ensemble of characters that are still beloved to this day, Buffy has stood the test of time. Fans new and old can watch the series and be just as enchanted with it as when it first released.

But there’s one way that Buffy has helped define current culture. It’s a small detail in the last season, something that anyone could easily mistake for just another line of dialogue. But while we might be accustomed to the line, at the time, it was a groundbreaking addition to our modern vocabulary. In a show that initiated a new wave of vampire media, it’s one small piece of dialogue that shows the true impact of a show like Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Before ‘Twilight’, Vampires Were Buffy’s Thing

Modern audiences might not understand the scale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s influence on pop culture. From 1997-2003, Buffy aired with weekly episodes delving into one girl’s fight against the supernatural. Adapted from the movie with the same name, Joss Whedon reinvented the plucky Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and gave her a whole new world to save. With the show’s instant success, vampires were back in fashion, and Buffy became a household name.

Camp Crystal Lake · Friday the 13th

Jason Voorhees
Advertisement

Jason is relentless, but he is also predictable — and that is the gap you would exploit.

  • He moves in straight lines toward his target. He doesn’t strategise, doesn’t adapt, doesn’t outsmart. He simply pursues.
  • Your ability to keep moving, use the environment, and resist the panic that freezes most victims gives you a genuine edge.
  • The Crystal Lake survivors were always the ones who stopped running in circles and started thinking about terrain, water, and distance.
  • You think like that. Which means Jason, for all his indestructibility, would face someone who simply refused to be where he expected.

Haddonfield, Illinois · Halloween

Michael Myers
Advertisement

Michael watches before he moves. He is patient, methodical, and almost impossible to detect — until it’s too late for anyone who isn’t paying close enough attention.

  • But you are paying attention. You notice the shape in the window, the car parked slightly wrong, the silence where there should be sound.
  • Michael’s power lies in the invisibility of ordinary suburbia — the fact that nothing ever looks wrong until it already is.
  • Your spatial awareness and instinct to map every room, every exit, and every shadow before you need them is precisely the quality Laurie Strode had.
  • You are not a victim waiting to happen. You are someone who already suspects something is wrong — and acts on it.

Elm Street · A Nightmare on Elm Street

Freddy Krueger
Advertisement

Freddy wins by getting inside your head — using your own fears, your own memories, your own subconscious as weapons against you. That strategy requires a target who can be destabilised.

  • You are harder to destabilise than most. You’ve faced uncomfortable truths about yourself and you haven’t looked away.
  • The survivors on Elm Street were always the ones who understood what was happening and chose to face it rather than flee from it.
  • Freddy’s greatest weakness is that his power evaporates in the presence of someone who refuses to give him the fear he feeds on.
  • Your psychological resilience — the ability to stay grounded when reality itself becomes unreliable — is exactly the quality that keeps you alive here.

Derry, Maine · It

Pennywise
Advertisement

Pennywise is ancient, shapeshifting, and feeds on terror — but it has one critical vulnerability: it cannot function against someone who genuinely stops being afraid of it.

  • The Losers Club didn’t survive because they were braver than everyone else. They survived because they faced their fears together, and faced them honestly.
  • You ask the questions others avoid. You look directly at what frightens you rather than turning away.
  • That directness — the refusal to let fear fester in the dark — is Pennywise’s worst nightmare.
  • It chose the wrong target when it chose you. You are exactly the kind of person whose fear tastes like nothing at all.

Chicago · Child’s Play

Chucky
Advertisement

Chucky’s greatest advantage is that nobody takes him seriously until it’s already too late. He exploits the gap between how something looks and what it actually is.

  • You don’t have that gap. You take threats seriously regardless of how they present — and you never make the mistake of underestimating something because of its size or appearance.
  • Chucky relies on surprise, on the delay between recognition and response. You close that delay faster than almost anyone.
  • Your instinct to treat every unfamiliar thing with appropriate scepticism — rather than dismissing it because it seems absurd — is the exact quality that keeps you breathing.
  • Against Chucky, not laughing is already winning. You are very good at not laughing.

The series had a huge ripple effect on pop culture, even to this day. Buffy herself changed gender expectations in horror, with the blonde girl fighting back against the forces of evil instead of succumbing to them. You can’t have a girl fighting supernatural forces without someone connecting her back to Buffy. With storylines surrounding serious topics such as addiction and grief and the inclusion of LGBTQ characters, Buffy the Vampire Slayer helped pave the way for TV to tackle real-life conversations. The show has been referenced in countless pieces of media, even inspiring many more. While Twilight exploded in popularity in the 2010s, Buffy set the groundwork for vampire media. Before it was Edward and Jacob, it was Angel and Spike.

One Line That Changed The World

With all that iconic success under her belt, Buffy made a huge splash in current culture in a small way. As the show straddled the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st, Buffy wasn’t immune to the rapid change underway in society. In 2002, in Season 7, Episode 4, “Help,” Willow (Alyson Hannigan) says the line, “Have you Googled her yet?” Up until then, ‘Google’ had never been used as a verb on TV. It was an entirely new phenomenon that demonstrates the show’s place in the early 21st century.

Modern viewers might hear that line and think nothing of it. People say ‘Google’ all the time; it’s not something unheard of to use in everyday conversation. But back in 2002, when the digital age was still developing, this was huge. It not only demonstrated the emergence of technology like search engines, but also showed how, through shows like Buffy, the modern world was being crafted. Nowadays, words like ‘iPhone’ and ‘apps’ are common staples in our vocabulary, but in the early 2000s, they would have been meaningless. Buffy‘s inclusion of the verb ‘Google’ shows how the series not only impacted pop culture, but was impacted by society adapting to a new era.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer continues to have left a mark on pop culture, in big and small ways. Buffy‘s impact can be felt through the clothes people wear, the supernatural media they consume, and the words they speak without even realizing it. For a show about a girl saving the world, it’s certainly true that she helped change it.

Nikki Glaser Admits She Nearly Stole From Taylor Swift’s Wedding

Published

on

Nikki Glaser at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards

Nikki Glaser left Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s star-studded wedding with unforgettable memories, but she nearly brought home something much more tangible. The comedian revealed that she came dangerously close to stealing a cake topper designed to resemble Kelce after spending 12 hours inside the couple’s highly private Madison Square Garden celebration. Glaser shared the hilarious confession during her Friday night performance at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, admitting that the small decoration appeared easy enough to slip into her purse.

The 42-year-old comedian recalled finding herself near the wedding cake late in the celebration while most of the guests were drinking and dancing.

“I got really close to stealing something from it because I was, like, ‘I want one cool artifact from this,’” Glaser described. “It was late in the night. Everyone’s kind of drunk, dancing on the dance floor. And I’m back by the cake, vaping. I look up at the cake and on the top tier, where the two little cake toppers are, it’s just Travis.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, the topper representing Swift was already missing by the time Glaser approached the cake. The comedian grabbed the remaining figure and briefly considered keeping it as a souvenir from what she described as the greatest night of her life as a Swiftie.

“I reach up, I get it. I’m two seconds from putting it in my purse. It’s almost in there, and then I hear Tom Cruise be like, ‘Put me down!’” she wisecracked, referring to the “Top Gun” actor’s reported five-foot-seven height. “I’m, like, ‘Oh my, God!’”

Glaser ultimately abandoned her plan and left the Kelce cake topper behind.

Swift and Kelce exchanged vows on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The massive celebration reportedly included approximately 1,000 guests, many of whom were among the biggest names in entertainment.

Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony, while guests reportedly included Selena Gomez, Bradley Cooper, Miranda Lambert, Jennifer Lopez, Tom Cruise and Adam Scott.

Glaser opened her Las Vegas set by cautiously acknowledging that she had attended the closely guarded event. “I want to say that I went to a wedding at Madison Square Garden three months ago,” Glaser told the audience. “I just want to talk about it a little bit. Allegedly, I actually can’t say that I was there legally or else a sniper dot will appear on my forehead.”

Wedding Guests Were Required To Surrender Their Phones

Glaser said she followed the invitation’s strict instructions and signed a nondisclosure agreement intended to preserve the couple’s privacy. “I didn’t tell anyone, obviously, I was too scared to,” she admitted.

Guests were also required to hand over their cell phones before entering the ceremony, preventing them from photographing or recording the celebration. The no-phone policy left Glaser completely unreachable for approximately 12 hours.

“So, I go to the wedding. I am in there for 12 hours, and none of my family or friends know where I am. I’m off the grid for 12 hours,” Glaser said. “They’re texting me, my location’s off. They all thought I killed myself because I wasn’t invited. I was actually inside, and I had nothing to show for it because I had to turn in my phone.”

The lack of photographs partly explained why Glaser became so tempted by the cake topper. She wanted something physical to prove that the surreal night had actually happened. “I go in, and I have no pictures. It sucks so much because it was the best night of my life as a Swiftie, like, the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. The purest love I’ve ever witnessed, and I have no pictures [and] no evidence.”

Glaser may not have secured a souvenir, but she did spend part of the evening with Lopez. Many of the celebrity guests reportedly attended without their usual entourages. There were few plus-ones, publicists or assistants accompanying them inside the venue, creating an unusual dynamic for such a high-profile gathering.

“J.Lo was alone,” the stand-up comic recalled. “I kind of know J.Lo, so I was like, ‘Hey!’ And she was like, ‘Oh my God, Nikki,’ and she threw her coat at me.”

Glaser jokingly found herself looking after the singer’s belongings before the pair visited the restroom together. “I was just kind of carrying her things around,” she said, adding that they hit up the restroom together. “We were, like, pals all night.”

‘Doctor Who’ Is Officially Free to Stream This Month

Published

on

Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor in Doctor Who

September has started off on the perfect note for fans of the highly acclaimed sci-fi franchise Doctor Who, amid ongoing uncertainty about its future. Debuting in 1963 and returning after a lengthy hiatus in 2005, the BBC‘s long-running mothership series continued through 2025, with Disney+ becoming its international streaming and co-production partner beginning with the 60th-anniversary specials in 2023. The partnership ended in October 2025, but the BBC remains the show’s home in the UK. Now, the series is officially free to stream but, as you may have guessed, there’s a catch!

This comes at just the right time, as it’s no secret that the adventure series’ future isn’t set in stone. The BBC has put the production out to competitive tender, but the bidding process hasn’t begun, and no new TV series has been announced. That said, Doctor Who officially launched on the free, ad-free streaming platform Kanopy on September 4, 2026, as confirmed by TV Insider, with new seasons scheduled to arrive week-to-weekthroughout this month. Keep in mind that Kanopy is only available through participating libraries and institutions.

Now, the catch is that only the first four revival series of Doctor Who will stream on Kanopy this month, as the launch starts with the 2005 chapter starring Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor. Following 2005’s Series 1, Series 2 lands on the platform on September 11, Series 3 on September 18, and Series 4 on September 25. Unlike the classic 20th-century episodes, these 2000s revival seasons largely moved away from the traditional multi-episode serial format in favor of mostly self-contained stories, while still incorporating occasional two-part episodes and broader season-long arcs.

Your Fate Has Been Calculated
You’d Survive In…

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

The Resistance, Zion

The Matrix

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

  • You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
  • You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
  • You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
  • The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.

The Wasteland

Mad Max

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

  • You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
  • You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
  • You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
  • In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.

Los Angeles, 2049

Blade Runner

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

  • You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
  • In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
  • You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
  • In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.

Arrakis

Dune

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

  • Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
  • You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
  • Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
  • In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
  • You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
  • You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
  • In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

What Lies Ahead for ‘Doctor Who’s Future?

In June, the BBC scrapped plans for the 2026 Christmas special that had been announced the previous year. At the same time, showrunner Russell T. Davies and producer Bad Wolf departed Doctor Who. Davies also revealed that he had never written a script for the Christmas special, nor had any actor ever been approached to play the next Doctor.

Then, last month, Mark Gatiss, who wrote nine episodes and starred in five, provided a discouraging Doctor Who update in an interview, hinting that fans may be in for a longer wait than expected. When asked about his hopes for the future, he admitted that he believes it was “just time for a break,” seeing as all good things eventually come to an end, adding:

“I think the BBC putting it out to tender is a perfectly great idea, but we’ve been here before. When it was cancelled in 1989, the BBC made a big statement saying ‘We’re committed to taking Doctor Who through the ’90s.’ They put it out to tender then, and then it just quietly didn’t happen, and I have a feeling maybe that’s what’s going to happen.”

Doctor Who streams for free on Kanopy. Stay tuned to Collider for more streaming coverage.

Orlando Bloom Reportedly ‘Shocked’ By ‘Vindictive’ Movie Leak

Published

on

Orlando Bloom at the 83rd Annual Golden Globes

Orlando Bloom is reportedly furious over claims that he abandoned his upcoming movie, “Reset,” at the last minute and left the production in danger of collapsing. Although an earlier report blamed Bloom’s departure for the turmoil, multiple insiders are now offering a dramatically different account. They claim the actor remained attached while the independent thriller faced months of shrinking budgets, shifting locations, scheduling problems, and the loss of its original director.

One production source insisted Bloom did not suddenly walk away from an otherwise stable project. “Orlando didn’t quit at the last minute,” the insider told the Daily Mail. “It’s all bullsh-t.” “It would be nice to tell the truth. I do not like that Orlando has been thrown under the bus. I can’t even believe it.”

Bloom was announced in May as the male lead of the survival thriller opposite Priyanka Chopra. Both actors were also expected to produce the project. “Reset” follows a woman, played by Chopra, who wakes up in the wilderness without any memory of how she arrived there. Her survival depends on a mysterious man, originally set to be played by Bloom, whose motives may not be what they initially appear.

Deadline originally reported that filming was expected to begin in August under director Matt Smukler. However, TMZ later reported that Bloom exited as cameras were about to roll, leaving some members of the cast and crew feeling “screwed over.”

The outlet’s sources claimed the project secured financing partly because Bloom and Chopra were attached. Bloom’s international profile was also seen as important in securing distribution for the independent film. Producers were reportedly considering three actors as possible replacements, with Chopra expected to help make the final decision.

Insider Blames The Drama On A ‘Vindictive’ Leak

Sources speaking to the Daily Mail disputed the suggestion that Bloom created the production crisis. “Obviously someone leaked this to save their own a-s, or it’s vindictive,” one insider alleged.

According to that source, the trouble had been building for months before Bloom officially departed. Budget reductions reportedly forced repeated changes to the production’s scope and filming locations. “There was a lack of budget and a lack of transparency. They just kept changing the location because of money,” the insider claimed.

Director Matt Smukler Reportedly Walked Away First

The situation reportedly reached a breaking point in mid-to-late July when Smukler stepped away from the movie. One source claimed the director left because the “budget just kept getting smaller and smaller.”

A second insider offered a more detailed explanation of the circumstances surrounding his departure. “The scope and some of the circumstances of the production just changed from what sort of initially had been anticipated. Matt just ultimately felt that it was best for him to step away,” the source said.

Smukler’s reported departure left the remaining producers trying to find a replacement director before filming was set to begin. “For a filmmaker like Matt who’s so strategic, methodical and planned, it was just too much of a moving target at that point that he said, ‘You know what, it just makes more sense to step aside and let them find someone who can figure all this out,’” the insider explained, adding that it was a “tough decision.”

Smukler’s spokesperson later addressed his exit without criticizing the production. “Matt’s grateful for the opportunity to have been involved and has tremendous respect for the talent and team behind the film. He wishes everyone involved the very best.”

The Production Reportedly ‘Scrambled’ To Find A New Director

Insiders said Bloom and Chopra understood Smukler’s decision, but the departure placed immediate pressure on the project. “They scrambled to find another director,” the first source said. “It goes without saying that when a director leaves fairly abruptly, it was at a breaking point. It was very chaotic.”

Bloom reportedly warned those involved that his continued participation could depend on finding a new director who was comfortable working within the reduced budget. “Orlando, long ago, got spooked,” the source claimed.

Despite those concerns, Bloom allegedly stayed involved for several more weeks and gave the production a chance to address its problems. The actor ultimately decided to exit after reportedly determining that the situation had not improved enough to move forward.

Priyanka Chopra And Orlando Bloom Are Reportedly Still Friends

MediaPunch / AdMedia / MEGA

The production trouble has not allegedly created a feud between Bloom and Chopra. Insiders said they never observed tension between the two stars and described them as “friends.” The pair reportedly became acquainted through their humanitarian involvement with UNICEF.

Bloom has not publicly addressed his exit from “Reset,” but insiders claim he is unhappy with the way the situation has been presented. “Orlando is very disappointed that this has happened. He’s upset,” the source said, adding of the leaks, “He was disappointed and shocked.”

“No one’s happy about it, and it’s super unfortunate because it is a great script,” they said.

“She is homeschooled, and a lot of it is me helping her do a lot of the teachings and … we do a lot of realistic courses [of] things that she’s really into,” Kim revealed on a January episode of her sister Khloé Kardashian’s “Khloé in Wonderland” podcast, referring to North. “She’s really into math. We’ll give budgets and we’ll go around and we’ll get stuff and we’ll add it all up and subtract it all. She has a brand-building class. It’s, like, an actual course and a curriculum. [It’s] fully interactive learning, and she had an idea of making hats and making jewelry and all the things she wanted to make, so we made it a course.”

North’s homeschool curriculum even allows her time in the recording studio to work on her debut album, which is currently in development.

The 1980s were one of the best decades for film. A decade of filmmaking innovation and evolution in the habits of theatergoers, the ’80s were defined by several iconic titles. This includes Giuseppe Tornatore‘s timeless Cinema Paradiso, Robert Zemeckis‘ sci-fi adventure Back to the Future, Spike Lee‘s magnum opus Do the Right Thing, and, of course, Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back.

But no director quite defined the decade like Steven Spielberg, with the likes of Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Color Purple, and Empire of the Sun just three examples. But his best work of the decade, and perhaps his best work ever, is the beloved E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. The heartwarming tale of an alien stranded on Earth who befriends a lonely 10-year-old boy named Elliott Taylor (Henry Thomas) is one of the most recognizable stories in cinema history, courtesy of Melissa Mathison‘s unforgettable script.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was an enormous hit at the global box office, scoring a global haul of almost $800 million against a budget of just $10.5 million. Split between $439 million in domestic revenue and a further $358 million from overseas markets, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was one of the highest-grossing movies of the 1980s and is the second-oldest title to appear in the list of 25 highest-grossing sci-fi movies of all time. 44 years later, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is a hit once again. At the time of writing, the sci-fi masterpiece is one of the ten most-streamed movies on Apple TV in the U.S., a list currently topped by Josh Greenbaum‘s The Dink.

Arrakis · Dune

Paul Atreides

You carry a weight most people would crumble under — the knowledge of what you’re capable of, and the burden of what you might have to become.

  • You see further ahead than others and you plan accordingly, even when the vision frightens you.
  • You are driven by loyalty to your people and a sense of destiny you didn’t ask for but can’t escape.
  • Paul Atreides is not simply a hero — he is someone who understands the cost of power and chooses to bear it anyway.
  • That gravity, that willingness to carry what others won’t, is exactly you.

USS Enterprise · Star Trek

Captain Kirk

You lead with instinct, warmth, and an absolute refusal to accept a no-win scenario — because you’ve always believed there’s a third option nobody else has thought of yet.

  • You take the mission seriously without ever taking yourself too seriously.
  • Your crew would follow you anywhere, not because you demand it, but because you’ve earned it.
  • Kirk’s genius isn’t tactical — it’s human. He reads people, bends rules with purpose, and wills outcomes into existence through sheer conviction.
  • That combination of warmth, audacity, and relentless optimism is unmistakably yours.

The Rebellion · Star Wars

Princess Leia

You are the kind of person who holds the line when everyone else is losing faith — not because you’re fearless, but because giving up simply isn’t something you’re capable of.

  • You lead through conviction. Your voice carries because your belief is unshakeable.
  • You gave up everything ordinary the moment you chose the cause, and you’ve never looked back.
  • Leia is not a supporting character in her own story — she is the moral centre of the entire rebellion.
  • That same fierce, principled, unbreakable core is what defines you.

The Nostromo · Alien

Ellen Ripley

You are not reckless, not grandiose, and not particularly interested in being anyone’s hero — you just refuse to stop when it matters.

  • You see threats clearly, you document the truth even when no one listens, and when the time comes you handle it yourself.
  • Ripley’s heroism is earned, not performed. She doesn’t have a speech — she has a flamethrower and a plan.
  • You share her composure under the worst possible pressure, and her refusal to pretend the monster isn’t there.
  • When it counts, you don’t flinch. That’s everything.

The Wasteland · Mad Max

Max Rockatansky

You have been through fire that would break most people — and what came out the other side is something the world underestimates at its peril.

  • You don’t ask for help, don’t need validation, and don’t wait for anyone to tell you the rules no longer apply.
  • Your loyalty, when it finally arrives, is absolute — but it’s earned in silence and tested in action, not in words.
  • Max is not a nihilist. He is someone who lost everything and found, against his will, that he still has something worth protecting.
  • That bruised, stubborn, ultimately human core is exactly yours.

Steven Spielberg Returned to Sci-Fi Earlier This Year

After almost a decade away from the genre, following 2018’s Ready Player One, Spielberg finally returned to sci-fi with Disclosure Day, which grossed almost $250 million in global revenue during a somewhat underwhelming box office run, against a reported budget of $115 million. As usual, Spielberg brought together a stellar cast for his latest project, led by Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place), Josh O’Connor (Challengers), and Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), and featuring many more big Hollywood names.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is one of the ten most-watched movies on Apple TV in the U.S. Stay tuned to Collider for more.

Few pieces make dressing for awkward, in-between-seasons weather easier than a classic trench coat. Rihanna just reminded Us why the timeless layer deserves a permanent place in our transitional wardrobes.

Plenty of fashion trends come and go, but a classic trench coat is among the few that never seems to lose its appeal. Equal parts polished, practical and infinitely versatile, it’s the one layer that instantly makes even the simplest T-shirt and jeans combo feel more sophisticated. Celine Dion proved exactly that when she recently […]

A good trench coat is practically made for transitional dressing. The roomy silhouette leaves plenty of space underneath for layering as temperatures fluctuate, while the longer length adds an elegant finishing touch to jeans, trousers, dresses and practically anything else already hanging in your closet.

The slightly oversized shape is also what gives this version its expensive-looking appeal. Wear it open over a fitted tee and straight-leg jeans for an easy everyday uniform, or add a sweater and boots once cooler fall weather arrives. For the office, simply layer it over a button-down or blazer for an instantly more polished finish.

Shoppers love the way it drapes over their outfits. “The overall fit is exactly as I had hoped – just loose enough to have that casual/nonchalant vibe,” wrote one five-star reviewer. “It’ll accommodate heavy sweaters or my blazers without being so big that it looks boxy or shapeless, even unbelted over thinner layers.”

The material is earning plenty of praise, too. “I love the fabric,” said another five-star reviewer. “It’s a nice color. It feels much more expensive than it was. I love the large and roomy shoulders.”

If your traditional wardrobe is missing that one layer capable of pulling practically everything together, take a cue from Rihanna and make it a trench. This $50 Amazon find delivers the relaxed, expensive-looking aesthetic without the celebrity wardrobe price tag.

Rihanna Seemingly Addresses Baby Rumors, Talks "Little Pouch"

A former ‘America’s Got Talent’ contestant is facing serious charges following a heartbreaking incident involving a young child. Deshundre Vinson, 22, has been arrested in Tennessee. Authorities say the charges stem from the death of his 4-year-old nephew, who drowned at an apartment complex swimming pool.

Deshundre Vinson Faces Serious Charges After Tragic Pool Incident

According to Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office inmate records viewed by PEOPLE, Deshundre Vinson was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 2, and charged with first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated child abuse. His bond has reportedly been set at $750,000, with his next court appearance reportedly scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The charges stem from an Aug. 16 incident at a Central Avenue apartment complex in Chattanooga, Tennessee. According to local reports, Chattanooga police officers were responding to an unrelated incident around 5:40 p.m. when they heard screaming coming from the pool area and discovered people performing CPR on a 4-year-old boy who had been pulled from the water.

Surveillance Footage Reportedly Captured The Moment

The child was transported to a hospital following the incident. He remained in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for approximately five days before he died. Investigators reportedly reviewed surveillance footage that showed the boy walking from the center edge of the pool into deeper water while holding onto the edge, before appearing to slip and struggle. According to Chattanoogan.com, the footage showed the child remaining underwater for approximately nine minutes before someone noticed him, pulled him from the pool, and began CPR.

Investigators Detail Vinson’s Alleged Lack Of Supervision

According to investigators, the child was Vinson’s nephew, and Vinson had reportedly been babysitting him, his 6-year-old brother, and other children that day. Authorities also allege that Vinson allowed the two brothers to walk approximately 0.2 miles to the apartment pool without adult supervision. Investigators reportedly found messages between Vinson and the child’s mother. In the messages, he allegedly acknowledged the lack of supervision and his delayed response to the drowning.

Vinson previously gained national attention as part of the R&B trio Citi Limitz, which appeared on ‘America’s Got Talent’ and ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.’ PEOPLE reported that they reached out to the Chattanooga Police Department for comment on Sept. 5 but did not immediately receive a response. Vinson’s next court date is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8.

Gia Giudice Says Dad Joe ‘Wishes He Was Home,’ Fans React

Gia Giudice Says Dad Joe ‘Wishes He Was Home,’ Fans React

Gia Giudice got fans talking after sharing an emotional thought about her dad, Joe Giudice, and his life away from his daughters!

The “Next Gen NYC” star recently took to TikTok with a simple message that appeared to reflect on the years her father has spent outside the US.

“Just sitting here drinking my tea thinking that my dad must look at these photos everyday wishing he was just home with his girls and family,” Gia wrote.

The post quickly sparked a mix of reactions from her followers, with some sympathizing with the reality star’s feelings while others pointed back to the circumstances that led to Joe’s deportation.

Gia’s message appeared to focus less on the legal circumstances affecting her father’s absence and more on the emotional side of being separated from a parent. She has been open about how much she misses her dad over the years, particularly during major moments in her life.

Gia, who was dressed in a white bikini top featuring a gold star, was holding her cup while apparently staring at a wooden shelf filled with adorable photos of the Giudice family. Her post similarly appeared to imagine what Joe might feel when looking at photos of his daughters and seeing the family moments he has missed.

Why Joe Giudice Has Been Away From His Daughters

Joe has been living outside the US since his deportation in 2019. The former “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star served three-and-a-half years in federal prison for tax-related offenses before being transferred to immigration custody. As Joe was not a citizen, he was ultimately deported to Italy following his release. He later moved to the Bahamas, where he currently lives.

While Joe remains separated from his daughters geographically, the family has continued to maintain a relationship. Gia has also continued efforts to help her father return to the US. Speaking to FOX 5 New York last month, she said she had visited her father regularly and revealed that the family had filed a humanitarian packet as they continued trying to get Joe pardoned and potentially allow him to return — either long or short-term.

“And you know, we just filed a humanitarian packet for him, just kind of trying to do everything we can to get him pardoned and hopefully come back, or even just on visitation,” Gia explained. “We’re still actively working through that and trying everything we can. I mean, I think any family would want their dad home. Any daughter or child would want their father home.”

Gia Giudice Has Continued To Speak Out About Wanting Her Dad Home

This isn’t the first time Gia has been candid about the impact of her dad’s deportation. During the second season of “Next Gen NYC,” she opened up about missing Joe during important milestones, including moving into her own apartment.

“I miss my dad so much,” Gia said while discussing his absence.

She has also previously spoken publicly about efforts to bring her father back to the US, making it clear that his absence remains an emotional subject for the family. During an April 3 episode of her podcast, “Casual Chaos with Gia Giudice,” the reality star revealed that she and her sisters maintain a very active relationship with their father.

“I mean, we go visit him, but it’s not the same as having your father present,” Gia shared. “It’s definitely rough even now. I actually just got back from visiting him. Arriving in the Bahamas is always so amazing. Leaving is the hardest part.”

She added, “I don’t think the tears will ever end.”

Fans Had Mixed Reactions To Gia Giudice’s Message

As expected, Gia’s emotional post didn’t leave fans completely divided. Some followers appeared to sympathize with her and understood why she would want her father back home with the family.

“He’s such a present father. Even from afar. I can’t imagine how terrible he feels when he’s forced to miss milestones,” one person wrote, while another commented, “My heart goes out to you and your family. I hope everyone can also think about all the other families in similar situations and all they wanted is a better life for their families. We’re all humans. Separating families with no chance of seeing each other does so much damage. I’m glad that you and your dad can still see each other.”

A third user added, “He loves his girls! This is such a hard situation to experience growing up. I know everyone has their opinions, but I think of you as the oldest and your sisters. This wasn’t something you did, and I can’t imagine what it felt like to experience in the public eye.”

Others, however, were less sympathetic and argued that Joe’s deportation was connected to his own legal troubles.

One commenter said, “Well, he did commit a crime,” while another added, “He shouldn’t [have] broken the law then.”

A different follower noted, “He didn’t value his family enough to make better choices. It’s a shame.”

The differing reactions showed how complicated Joe’s situation remains for fans who have followed the Giudice family since their “RHONJ” days.

Joe Giudice Remains Close To His Daughters

Despite living in the Bahamas, Joe continues to maintain a relationship with his daughters, who have traveled to see him over the years. He has also remained active on social media, giving fans glimpses into the life he has built for himself in the Bahamas.

Joe, 54, shares daughters, Gia, 25, Gabriella, 21, Milania, 20, and Audriana, 16, with his ex-wife, Teresa Giudice, 54.

Netflix’s Best Political Thriller Since ‘House of Cards’ Officially Returns Next Month

Published

on

03186299_poster_w780.jpg

Netflix‘s September slate is packed with some returning shows that viewers can’t afford to miss. After two years, Guy Ritchie‘s hit crime thriller The Gentlemen is back for another explosive season. Meanwhile, the streaming service is trying to keep its young adult fanbase with Crew Girl, a teen drama about a young woman who joins an all-boys rowing team. And for fans of darker storytelling, Monster is back for Season 4, this time focusing on its first female killer, Lizzie Borden. Netflix is also bringing a dramatic twist to one of the most infamous stories of wasted potential with Unabomber, starring Jacob Tremblay as Ted Kaczynski. However, the streamer’s best political thriller since House of Cards won’t return until October.

This show was an immediate hit when it premiered in 2023 and has since risen to acclaim. Each season has featured a higher score on Rotten Tomatoes, and the entire series is officially certified fresh at 92%. It has also impressed the awards circuit, being nominated for various awards, including the Emmys. Its lead actress, Keri Russell, won a SAG Award for her performance as Kate Wyler. Titled The Diplomat, the series is a high-stakes political drama about a career diplomat and what it takes to keep relationships from imploding. Three seasons of the series, created by Debora Cahn, have aired so far, and the fourth has an official fall release date.

In The Diplomat Season 4, lines are drawn and sides taken, but it’s not that simple. Two complicated marriages are at the center of a fragile relationship between the U.S. and the UK. Wild cards Grace Penn (Allison Janney) and her vice president, Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell), are on one side, while Kate and Todd Penn (Bradley Whitford) are on the other. Alone, Grace and Hal are formidable forces, but together, they’re a tornado. Kate feels like she’s been cut out of her marriage just when she and Hal were finding their way back to each other.

The Name Has Been Determined
Your Bond Is…

Six actors. One role. Your answers point to the Bond who shares your presence, your method, and your particular way of carrying the weight of being the most dangerous person in the room.

Dr. No — You Only Live Twice · 1962–1967

Sean Connery
Advertisement

You are the original — and you carry that fact without needing to announce it. There is an authority in the way you occupy a room that others spend careers trying to replicate.

  • You don’t explain yourself, justify yourself, or soften yourself for anyone’s comfort. The confidence is structural, not performed.
  • Connery’s Bond established everything — the tone, the danger, the cool — because Connery himself had the innate presence to make something that had never existed feel inevitable.
  • You share that quality: the sense that you were always going to end up exactly here, doing exactly this.
  • The name is Bond. In your case, it always was.

Live and Let Die — A View to a Kill · 1973–1985

Roger Moore
Advertisement

You understand something that more serious people miss: that wit is its own form of intelligence, and that making people laugh is not a retreat from danger but a way of mastering it.

  • Moore’s Bond is underrated precisely because the effortlessness looks easy — and effortlessness is the hardest thing to manufacture.
  • You have the same quality: a lightness that disarms people before they realise how sharp you actually are.
  • The raised eyebrow, the perfectly timed quip, the refusal to be rattled — these are not affectations. They are a philosophy about how to move through a world that would like to take itself too seriously.
  • You have never let it.

The Living Daylights · Licence to Kill · 1987–1989

Timothy Dalton
Advertisement

You took the role seriously when everyone wanted you to coast — and that refusal to take the easy version of anything is the most defining thing about you.

  • Dalton’s Bond has genuine moral weight: he feels the cost of what he does, he has lines he won’t cross, and he is not interested in the version of himself that pretends otherwise.
  • You share that intensity. You push harder than the situation technically requires, because you have a standard and you hold yourself to it.
  • He was ahead of his time — the Bond the franchise wasn’t quite ready for yet, arriving exactly when he was meant to.
  • You know what that feels like.

GoldenEye — Die Another Day · 1995–2002

Pierce Brosnan
Advertisement

You are the complete package — and you know it, which is part of what makes you so effective and occasionally so infuriating to the people around you.

  • Brosnan arrived at the role looking exactly like Bond was supposed to look, and he delivered on that expectation with a professionalism that made it seem effortless.
  • You have the same quality: a smooth competence, a charm that operates like a precision instrument, and the ability to make even difficult things look like they weren’t.
  • His era was the most commercially successful in the franchise’s history. There is a reason for that.
  • The reason is that some people simply fit their moment perfectly. You are one of those people.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service · 1969

George Lazenby
Advertisement

You stepped into something enormous with less preparation than anyone around you thought was sufficient — and you delivered something genuine anyway, which is the more impressive achievement.

  • Lazenby’s single outing is, by many measures, one of the finest Bond films ever made — and he is not a small part of why.
  • You share his quality of raw authenticity: less polished than the alternatives, more honest for it, capable of something real that technique alone can’t produce.
  • He was underestimated, and then he wasn’t, and then history caught up with him.
  • You are the kind of person history catches up with. Give it time.

Casino Royale — No Time to Die · 2006–2021

Daniel Craig
Advertisement

You stripped everything back and found what was underneath — and what was underneath was harder, more honest, and more human than anyone expected.

  • Craig’s Bond is the franchise’s most psychologically complete: a man doing a brutal job, carrying its costs imperfectly, capable of love and loss in ways that can’t be dismissed.
  • You share that depth. You don’t hide behind the role or the charm or the suit — you let the work show what it actually costs.
  • He was controversial from the moment he was announced and definitive by the time he was finished. The sceptics became the believers.
  • That arc — of being underestimated and then undeniable — is one you know intimately.
