She’s A Hustler’s Makybe Diva Stakes hopes boosted for 2026

Published

on

Trainer Grahame Begg feels confident that She’s A Hustler is over her previous exertions chasing Pride Of Jenni as the mare heads to Flemington.

She’s A Hustler is slated to compete in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday, and Begg is pleased that Pride Of Jenni is not entered for the race.

Begg suggests that the three previous meetings between Pride Of Jenni and She’s A Hustler during the Sydney and Brisbane campaigns in the autumn and winter might have taken a toll on his mare, who is also nominated for the Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate, and Melbourne Cup.

“She was thwarted by wet tracks, and I think she might have had a bit of Pride Of Jenni hangover,” Begg said.

“Her first three runs back last preparation, she was in three hard run races.”

“It might have gutted her a bit. Instead of getting in a race where you could flow and go through your gears, each race was a high tempo.”

The competitive field has been reduced to 10 runners following the withdrawals of Birdman, Buckaroo, and Aeliana, meaning this intense pressure will not be present on Saturday.

Begg commented that the Makybe Diva Stakes on Saturday is the most suitable starting point for She’s A Hustler’s program leading up to the Caulfield Cup.

The next step after Saturday will be the Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 3, followed by the Caulfield Cup two weeks later.

“It’s such a tight turnaround after winter,” Begg remarked.

“The right race for her is probably the Underwood over 1800 metres, but it’s only two weeks, two weeks (to the Caulfield Cup).”

“Going that way, you don’t get to have a three-week buffer.”

“It’s a very tight schedule, unless you started early in something like the Heatherlie, but she looks to be tracking nicely.”

“She’s got good residual fitness from Brisbane and having that has allowed us to kick off here as she raced right up until the middle of June and then she was able to have a bit of a break up there.”

She’s A Hustler has undergone two trials at Caulfield Heath in preparation for her return on Saturday, winning her most recent trial over 1400m.

“She took enormous improvement from her first trial to her second,” Begg noted.

What is Jake and Logan Paul’s “Fight Game”? Eligibility, application form, and more explored

Jake and Logan Paul are set to bring their combat sports careers to television with a new unscripted fight competition series for Hulu and ESPN. Produced by Most Valuable Promotions and Wheelhouse, the upcoming show will feature the Paul brothers coaching rival teams of fighters as they compete in a combination of combat and survival challenges.

The project was officially announced on September 10, 2026, with the current official title being “Untitled Paul Brothers Fight Competition Series.” However, the show’s casting website is branded as “Fight Game.” Casting is now open, while production is scheduled to begin in 2027.

Jake recently spoke about the project while revealing that he had been rehired by Disney. He said:

“Yep, you heard the news. I got rehired by Disney. We’re back. It’s cool. ESPN, Logan, and me. We got picked up. We got a show, baby. Greenlit. Greenlit.”

The Paul brothers then explained that the show will combine fighting with survival challenges in the wild.

“Those people are gonna be fighting. It’s gonna be violent. Not only are they fighting, but they’re also doing survival in the woods, jungle-style, every week, like Naked and Afraid, for example, but imagine they have to fight to survive.”

The casting announcement is aimed at fighters from different combat sports backgrounds. Jake Paul and Logan Paul said:

“We need MMA fighters, boxers, anyone who has survival skills. You’re gonna be on ESPN and Hulu. Click the link to sign up for the cast. We’re casting. We’re looking for people who literally want to fight to survive.”

The brothers also emphasized the demanding nature of the competition, saying:

“You have to be made of absolute steel. This is gonna be the hardest and most rewarding game show of your entire lives.”

How will Jake and Logan Paul’s Fight Game work, and who can apply?

The competition will be split into two rival teams, with Jake and Logan Paul coaching one team each. The fighters will live and train together in the wild, while also facing different survival and combat challenges.

Unlike traditional reality competitions where contestants are eliminated through votes, the new series will have fighters choose their opponents, with eliminations being decided through fights. According to MVP, Jake and Logan will send the losing fighters home until one man and one woman are left standing.

Most Valuable Promotions described the concept in a post on X:

“Jake vs. Logan. Two rival teams. One man and one woman left standing. MVP and Wheelhouse are bringing a new unscripted fight competition series to Hulu and ESPN, where fighters choose their matchups and eliminations are settled by a fight—not a vote.”

The official announcement confirms that casting is currently open and interested applicants can apply through the show’s casting website. The site lists the following eligibility requirements, and the applying participant would have to meet the following conditions:
