Terence Crawford was sat ringside to witness Ryan Garcia‘s dominant knockout win over Conor Benn.

Garcia was defending his WBC welterweight title against Benn at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with a lot of talk pre-fight about how Benn would cope with the power of ‘King Ry’ as he took part in his first welterweight bout since April 2022.

It turned out that ‘The Destroyer’ was unable to deal with that power, as a big right hand in the second round dropped Benn, and even though he was able to get back to his feet, a further onslaught from Garcia forced the referee to jump in and stop the contest.

One man that was backing Benn to come out on top ahead of the fight was five-weight world champion Crawford, who retired from the sport back in December after earning undisputed honours in a third division.

Crawford and ‘King Ry’ have been involved in a number of heated back and forths over the past few months, but it appears that ‘Bud’ gave credit where it was due after Garcia’s win, with a social media clip revealing his immediate reaction to the performance.

“I said if Conor could handle Ryan’s power then Ryan would be in trouble, he couldn’t handle it. It’s the fight game. Congratulations Ryan. He did what he did.”

Garcia has been keen to try and get Crawford out of retirement for a fight, but it seems that ‘King Ry’ could now be about to turn his attention to a unification clash with WBA welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez instead, after calling him out following the win over Benn.

Manchester United have been told by Juventus that Pierre Kalulu will not be for sale. The Frenchman, who is understood be valued at around £42million, has been eyed by United.

In the last two transfer windows, United have spent north of £150m to add to their frontline and midfield. They began by signing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to bolster their options up front in the summer of 2025.

Under Michael Carrick, a huge midfield splurge saw Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba arrive from Aston Villa, Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively in the summer window. Defence is understood to be the next priority and Kalulu has been linked.

However, reports from Italy claim the Old Lady are not interested in parting with Kalulu, whom they signed from fierce rivals AC Milan for just over £12m, having loaned him the season before.

He is reportedly considered too important to sell by the Turin side. United had been linked with a January move for the central defender, but Juventus are keen in committing him to a new deal.

Kalulu has also been linked with a move to Liverpool, who signed his French team-mate Jeremy Jacquet earlier in the summer.

While Kalulu is a central defender by trade, he has performed various positions for Juventus. Under Luciano Spalletti, he has even been encouraged to push up the pitch and join in attacks, either from central defence or from right-back.

The Reds chose not to sign any defenders in the summer transfer window. They were heavily linked with Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall, but the Magpies were reluctant to sell.

Their ambitions of signing the ex-Chelsea defender were dealt another blow when he signed a new contract extension which is set to keep him at St. James’ Park until 2031.

United took the risk to not sign a left-back, despite only having Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu as their options. Considering the latter was used more commonly as a winger by Carrick last season, it was felt United were short in that area of the pitch.

The lack of defensive signings left former United skipper Gary Neville concerned. Before the transfer window ended, Neville said: “They have got some individually decent defenders, but there isn’t a back four there and when it starts to get put under pressure and it starts to pick up a couple of injuries during the season, it will let you down.

“Michael knows that right now. If they could get a centre-back and a full-back before the window closes, that will stop problems that we know we’re going to see.”

Adding to the embarrassment for Indian wrestling, Asian Games-bound Greco Roman wrestler Deepak has failed a dope test, forcing the national federation to withdraw him from the contingent, further shrinking the Indian challenge at continental showpiece.

The development comes after India have already lost two wrestling places in the Asian Games squad following doping cases involving Mukul Dahiya (men’s freestyle 86kg) and Deepanshu (Greco Roman, 130kg).

Deepak was the first wrestler from the Indian postal service to secure a place in the Indian team for the Asian Games.

The 25-year-old Delhi wrestler was a surprise winner at the selection trials held in Lucknow on May 31 after coming through a medal-winning show at the Federation Cup.

According to a notification issued by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), Deepak’s urine sample, collected during the selection trials, returned an atypical finding for clomifene, a prohibited substance classified under S4 (Hormone and Metabolic Modulators) of the 2026 WADA Prohibited List.

NADA said the sample was reported as an atypical finding on July 23 and, following an investigation and an interview with the wrestler on August 17, decided to move the case forward as an Adverse Analytical Finding.

Clomiphene usually helps in treating infertility in men and women.

Not yet suspended says NADA =================== NADA’s notification, however, does not state that Deepak has been provisionally suspended. It specifically says he is not provisionally suspended pending resolution of the case and may continue to participate in competitions unless a suspension or period of ineligibility is subsequently imposed.

However, the notification also said that if the ADRV is confirmed, results obtained from the date of sample collection – May 31, 2026 – until the commencement of any provisional suspension “would be liable to disqualification, unless fairness requires otherwise”.

If the B-sample confirms the presence of clomifene, or if Deepak waives B-sample analysis, the ADRV would be confirmed under the applicable anti-doping rules.

We can’t take risk, says WFI ================== A Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) official said they are withdrawing Deepak from the squad since if he returns a positive test during the Games, world governing body UWW can impose a penalty of Rs 20 lakh on the WFI.

“Deepak had indeed surprised coaches by winning the trials. He was never part of the national camp that is why he was never tested enough. He came to trials stage through his medal at the Federation Cup.

“We are withdrawing him from the squad,” said the official.

WFI could have saved quota places ===================== WFI contended that if they were intimated the adverse results in time, they could have saved all three quota places.

“Deepanshu was tested in March and we got his result only in July. Similarly Mukul and Deepak were tested on May 31 and we are getting the results now. If we had known the results early, we would not have sent their names. We would have replaced them with others, but nothing can be done now,” said the official.

When asked why the WFI is unable to convince the wrestler to stay clean, the official said,”We are bringing in very strict doping policy very soon. Offenders will not be spared. We are already trying to educate them.” The NADA notice said Deepak had not declared any medication related to the substance on his doping control form and did not produce purchase records, invoices or bills for dietary supplements he said he had consumed.

The agency also said there was no Therapeutic Use Exemption for clomifene and that no departure from the relevant testing or laboratory standards could explain the finding.

NADA determined that Deepak failed to satisfactorily account for the presence of the prohibited substance.

The wrestler, however, has the right to challenge the A-sample result by requesting analysis of the B-sample. He has seven days from receipt of the notification to exercise that right.

Garrett Wilson has high standards for the New York Jets this season.

“[Making the playoffs is] very realistic,” New York’s star wide receiver said after stating that making the playoffs defines a successful season, according to ESPN. “I think it should happen. I’ll say that. It’s our job to go play ball and do it, but that’s how I feel about it.”

The Jets are coming off a 3-14 season, haven’t posted a winning season since 2015 and haven’t made the playoffs since 2010, which is the longest drought in professional American sports.

As for new faces, New York has two new coordinators, as head coach Aaron Glenn parted ways with offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand after the 2025 season and moved on from defensive coordinator Steve Wilks in December of last season.

Former Indianapolis Colts, Carolina Panthers and Stanford Cardinal head coach Frank Reich is the Jets’ new offensive coordinator, while former Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions defensive assistant Brian Duker is their new defensive coordinator; Duker was an assistant under Glenn when the latter was Detroit’s defensive coordinator from 2021-23.

On the personnel side, offensively, the Jets acquired veteran quarterback Geno Smith — who played the first four seasons of his career with the franchise (2013-16) — from the Las Vegas Raiders, signed guard Dylan Parham (two-year, $16 million deal), selected Oregon Ducks tight end Kenyon Sadiq with the No. 16 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and traded up to select Indiana Hoosiers wide receiver Omar Cooper with the No. 30 pick.

Defensively, New York selected Texas Tech Red Raiders defensive end David Bailey with the No. 2 pick in the draft, acquired safety Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Dolphins and signed linebacker Demario Davis (two-year, $22 million deal) — who also began his career with the Jets (2012-15 and 2017) — cornerback Nahshon Wright (one-year, $3.5 million deal) and defensive ends Joseph Ossai (three-year, $34.5 million deal), David Onyemata (one-year, $10.5 million deal) and Kingsley Enagbare (one-year, $9 million deal), among other moves.

Wilson, whom New York selected with the No. 10 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Ohio State and signed to a four-year, $130 million extension in July 2025, was limited to seven games last season (2025) due to a knee injury, totaling 36 receptions for 395 yards and four touchdowns across the action he saw. Over the first three years of his career (2022-24), Wilson averaged 93.0 receptions for 1,083.0 receiving yards and 4.7 touchdowns per year, while never missing a game.

Wilson and the Jets open the 2026 regular season on the road against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon. Of course, Tennessee’s new head coach, Robert Saleh, was previously New York’s head coach from 2021-24.

Jey Uso has reacted with a one-word message after being disrespected by the WWE Universe in South America. The former World Heavyweight Champion threatened to walk away from the tour after the incident.

Jey has been teaming up with his Bloodline family members, Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu, throughout the WWE South America tour. The trio faced the team of Seth Rollins, LA Knight, and Solo Sikoa and ended up losing every match on the tour. He later went on social media and threatened to walk away and go home if the disrespect continued.

On his Instagram story, Jey sent a message aimed at the WWE Universe after their actions towards The YEET Man during the latest house show in Chile.

Jey Uso Shared A One-Word Message On Behalf Of The Usos After WWE RAW

The Bloodline was put on notice on the latest edition of WWE RAW by Royce Keys and OTM. The faction known as 946 outsmarted Jacob Fatu and The Usos and set their car on fire in the parking lot.

On his Instagram story, Jey shared a photo with his brother Jimmy and reacted with a one-word message. He wrote:

“Greatness,”

This coming Monday on RAW, Bloodline leader Roman Reigns will return to the company. He will defend the World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Penta, who won a tournament to earn himself a shot at the OTC’s title. Reigns has also been feuding with LA Knight, who wants to face the winner of the upcoming title match between him and Penta.

On the other hand, the World Heavyweight Champion has asked Jacob Fatu to deal with Royce Keys and OTM. The OTC is expected to address the Keys and OTM’s actions from this week’s RAW when they set The Bloodline’s car on fire.
