India pacer Harshit Rana is unlikely to be fit in time for the three match series against Afghanistan beginning here on September 13.

Rana, who last played for India on the England tour, was included in the India squad for the three games in Delhi subject to fitness. He was also named in the Asian Games squad.

“He has not yet fully recovered from his hamstring injury. He will need more time,” said a BCCI source.

Rana was nursing a hamstring injury like Washington Sundar, who has been deemed fit for the Afghanistan series.

Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Nitish Reddy, nursing knee and quadriceps injury respectively, were also included in the India squad subject to fitness.

Bumrah has been out of action since India’s ODI tour to England in July with a left knee injury.

“Both Bumrah and Reddy are on track for their comeback,” the source added.

After the Afghanistan series, India play a one-off game against Japan in Tokyo on September 22. They open their Asian Games on September 28.

Tyrese Haliburton was at Lucas Oil Stadium ahead of the Indianapolis Colts’ season opener against the Baltimore Ravens. The Indiana Pacers star performed the pregame anvil-striking tradition ahead of the showdown.

Haliburton was an animated figure as he pumped up the home crowd. NFL fans reacted on X.

One chipped in, writing, “@Hali Why can’t I hear you? You have got Game 1️⃣. You are team Dodgers… ✨ “Power Branded”✨ territory ✨”

One stated, “Nothing says game day like a live interview and a giant horseshoe photobomb.”

This isn’t Tyrese Haliburton‘s first rodeo. He previously performed the ritual during a 2022 home game against the Kansas City Chiefs; the Colts went on to win 20-17.

Haliburton and Colts QB1, Daniel Jones, have built a friendship during the offseason. Both stars recovered from torn Achilles tendons and were operated on by the same surgeon, Dr. Martin J. O’Malley.

Furthermore, Haliburton and Jones captained opposing teams in August at the Pacers Foundation Charity Softball Classic. They’ll look to feature heavily in their respective leagues after injury layoffs.

Colts hold the series lead over the Ravens

The Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens have faced off in 18 regular season games. The Colts have won 11 games compared to the Ravens’ seven.

The last time the teams faced off was in 2023 as the Colts recorded a 22-19 overtime win. That win ended a three-game losing streak dating back to the 2014 season.
