BERLIN — IFA 2026, Europe’s largest consumer electronics trade show, officially opened Friday and runs through Sept. 8 at Messe Berlin, with artificial intelligence woven into nearly every category of product on display this year, from smart home appliances to toothbrushes. Last year’s edition drew 220,000 visitors from 140 countries and more than 1,900 exhibitors, and this year’s show appears set to continue that scale. Here are 10 of the standout technologies drawing attention from the show floor.

  1. Xiaomi 18 Fold. Xiaomi is using IFA week to build anticipation for its new “mid-fold” smartphone, officially launching in China on Sept. 7. The device features a 5.38-inch external display and a 7.58-inch internal screen, powered by Xiaomi’s new self-designed XRing O3 chipset built on a 10-core CPU architecture. The company has claimed the chip delivers significantly improved graphics performance and power efficiency compared with its predecessor, positioning the phone as a rival to Samsung’s and Huawei’s own wide-format foldables.
  2. LG ThinQ Claw. LG is debuting a new conversational AI agent for its smart home ecosystem called ThinQ Claw, built in part on the company’s earlier acquisition of smart home platform Homey. According to LG, the assistant is designed to understand user intent and context, helping complete tasks by connecting and coordinating relevant services and devices, whether those are LG appliances or third-party smart home products.
  3. Dyson CameraJet. Dyson is entering the electric toothbrush category for the first time with its $500 CameraJet, a device that combines an AI-powered camera with an integrated water flosser. The camera tracks a user’s brushing pattern in real time and automatically disperses mouthrinse like a water flosser whenever it detects the brush passing over a gap between teeth, allowing users to brush and floss simultaneously with a single device.
  4. XREAL Aura mixed reality glasses. XREAL is showcasing its new Aura mixed reality glasses at IFA, running on Google’s Android XR platform. Reviewers who tested the device compared the experience to a lighter version of Apple’s Vision Pro headset, noting solid display quality and a maturing software platform even as the broader smart glasses category continues searching for its ideal form factor. XREAL is targeting a release before the end of 2026.
  5. TP-Link Archer 8 Ultra and Deco 8 Ultra. TP-Link is among the first companies to bring hardware to market built around the still-unfinalized Wi-Fi 8 standard, unveiling its Archer 8 Ultra tri-band router and Deco 8 Ultra mesh networking system at this year’s show. Both devices use the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn wireless standard, with TP-Link framing the products as addressing everyday connectivity problems users actually notice, rather than simply chasing incremental speed increases.
  6. Acer Project DualPlay Mini. Acer showed off a concept gaming handheld that flips open and swivels to reveal a hidden keyboard, transforming an 8-inch Windows gaming device into a tiny laptop. The concept borrows design language from Acer’s existing Predator Atlas 8 handheld and remains strictly a concept at this stage, with no confirmed pricing, specifications or production timeline. Acer also introduced the market-ready Predator Atlas 7, a smaller 7-inch handheld that will actually reach consumers this year.
  7. Acer SleepLab Pro. Acer is also expanding into sleep-tracking technology with the SleepLab Pro, a bedside speaker that uses 60GHz radar to monitor sleep stages, heart rate and breathing without requiring a wearable device. The speaker doubles as a sleep aid, offering more than 180 built-in sounds and a 28-day guided breathing program, and Acer has said it will not require a subscription to access core features once it eventually reaches the market.
  8. XGIMI Aura 3 projector. XGIMI is pushing home projection technology further this year with its Aura 3 model, delivering high brightness output alongside 4K resolution at a smooth 120Hz refresh rate aimed at fast-moving sports and gaming content. Competing projector maker JMGO also showed its N3 Ultimate model at the show, though early hands-on impressions noted some color distortion issues at peak brightness settings.
  9. Beyerdynamic Aventho Y headphones. The century-old German audio manufacturer Beyerdynamic used IFA to debut its new Aventho Y headphones, featuring a design reminiscent of Apple’s AirPods Max alongside replaceable ear cups emphasizing long-term repairability. The company, long known for supplying professional audio equipment to musicians and recording studios, is positioning the new headphones as a consumer-friendly extension of that studio-grade audio heritage.
  10. JLab ANC earbuds with Apple Find My integration. Among the more budget-friendly standouts at the show, JLab introduced compact, low-cost active noise-canceling earbuds that incorporate proprietary technology compatible with Apple’s Find My network, allowing the earbuds’ charging case to function similarly to an Apple AirTag for location tracking, all at a notably small size and low price point compared with competing premium earbud offerings.

Beyond these individual products, IFA CEO Leif Lindner emphasized during the show’s opening ceremony that exhibitors continue pushing forward with AI-focused innovation this year despite broader industry headwinds, including a well-documented global memory chip shortage that has driven up component costs across the consumer electronics industry. That pricing pressure has been felt across categories, from smartphones to laptops, even as companies continue racing to differentiate their products through AI-powered features.

Samsung and LG separately dominated this year’s IFA innovation awards, with the two Korean electronics giants collectively winning 11 awards across categories spanning AI-powered appliances, next-generation display technology and audio innovation. LG additionally claimed the show’s top overall “Best Brand” honor, underscoring the intensifying competition between the two companies to establish leadership in AI-integrated consumer electronics across the European market.

With IFA 2026 running through Sept. 8, additional product announcements and hands-on demonstrations are expected throughout the remainder of the show, as exhibitors continue unveiling new devices spanning smart home technology, wearables, gaming hardware and home entertainment systems to the hundreds of thousands of attendees expected to pass through Messe Berlin before the event concludes.

Lululemon Shares Sink 17% As Third Guidance Cut This Year Overshadows Earnings Beat Amid CEO Transition

Published

Corporate Travel Management Shares Crash 82% As Trading Resumes After

Lululemon Athletica Inc. plunged $20.98, or 17.23%, to $100.79, after the athleisure retailer cut its full-year guidance for the third time this fiscal year, overshadowing a quarterly earnings beat and deepening a difficult stretch for the once-high-flying apparel company.

Lululemon reported fiscal second-quarter earnings of $2.92 per share, well ahead of the $1.80 analysts had expected, according to estimates compiled by LSEG. Revenue for the quarter came in at $2.415 billion, down 4% from the same period a year earlier and slightly below the $2.461 billion Wall Street had projected. Comparable sales fell 9% to 10% globally during the quarter, depending on the specific measure cited, with North America continuing to serve as the company’s weakest region, posting an 8% revenue decline.

Much of the earnings beat was driven by a one-time benefit rather than underlying operational strength. Lululemon received $134.5 million in tariff refunds under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, along with an additional $4.1 million in associated interest, during the quarter, a windfall that significantly boosted reported profitability even as core sales trends continued to deteriorate.

The steepest concern for investors centered on Lululemon’s updated full-year guidance. The company now expects full-year net revenue in the range of $10.35 billion to $10.5 billion, representing a decline of 5% to 7% compared with the prior year. Full-year adjusted earnings per share guidance was cut to a range of $9.48 to $9.73, down sharply from the company’s previous guidance of $10.95 to $11.15 per share. For the current fiscal quarter, Lululemon guided for revenue between $2.29 billion and $2.32 billion, representing a 10% to 11% year-over-year decline, alongside quarterly earnings per share guidance of just 93 cents to 98 cents, far below the $2.41 analysts had been anticipating.

Meghan Frank, Lululemon’s interim co-chief executive and chief financial officer, addressed the guidance cut directly in the company’s earnings release.

“While we continue to navigate some challenging dynamics, we are taking a prudent approach with our revised full-year outlook,” Frank said.

Management attributed part of the weaker outlook to a significant slowdown in the company’s China mainland segment, alongside continued softness in North American traffic and ongoing markdown pressure across its core product categories. The company’s updated third-quarter guidance specifically anticipates “mid-teens” percentage declines in North America, a notably steeper deterioration than the roughly 8% decline the region posted in the quarter just reported.

Thursday’s disappointing results mark the third time Lululemon has cut its full-year guidance during fiscal 2026, following earlier guidance reductions tied to weakening North American demand and broader competitive pressure within the athletic apparel category. The stock entered Thursday’s earnings report already down nearly 42% for the year, reflecting sustained investor concern over the company’s ability to reverse its slowing growth trajectory.

The earnings report also arrived at a pivotal moment for Lululemon’s leadership. Nike veteran Heidi O’Neill is set to officially take over as the company’s permanent chief executive next week, following a transition period during which Frank has served in an interim capacity alongside her existing CFO responsibilities. The timing of the disappointing results just ahead of O’Neill’s formal start has added an additional layer of scrutiny to the leadership transition, with investors now watching closely for how the incoming CEO plans to address the company’s deepening sales challenges.

Among the company’s most prominent shareholders, investor Michael Burry, known for his prescient bet against the U.S. housing market chronicled in “The Big Short,” offered a pointed response to Thursday’s results. Burry, whose largest current portfolio holding is Lululemon, described the stock’s performance in a post on Substack following the earnings release.

“Today, lululemon is the trickster in my portfolio,” Burry wrote. “This time the trickster is my largest position, and it does seem determined to take me where mermaids fear to tread.”

According to market commentator Sam Badawi, Burry has indicated plans to buy additional shares aggressively if the stock falls further below $100, and has suggested a potential private equity takeover could represent a plausible long-term outcome for the company given its depressed valuation relative to historical levels.

Thursday’s after-hours decline pushed Lululemon shares below their previous 52-week low of $104.44, a level the stock briefly dipped beneath during after-hours trading before settling at its current price. The stock’s post-earnings collapse effectively erased a modest 1.42% gain the shares had posted during Thursday’s regular trading session ahead of the earnings release.

Lululemon’s presentation to investors attempted to frame international expansion as a continued source of growth opportunity, noting that the company had introduced its brand to new markets during the quarter even as overall comparable sales declined globally. Constant-dollar analysis showed comparable sales falling 10% after adjusting for a 1% foreign exchange headwind, reinforcing that the sales weakness reflected genuine operational challenges rather than simply currency fluctuations.

Despite the stock’s steep decline, some analysts have pointed to Lululemon’s valuation as increasingly attractive on a fundamental basis, with shares now trading at roughly 11 times forward earnings following the sharp post-earnings drop, a level considerably below the premium multiples the stock commanded during its period of stronger growth. Whether that lower valuation represents a genuine buying opportunity or reflects appropriately diminished expectations for the company’s near-term prospects remains a point of active debate among investors following Thursday’s results.

Lululemon’s struggles this year have unfolded against a backdrop of intensifying competition within the athletic and athleisure apparel category, with rivals continuing to gain market share in segments where Lululemon has historically maintained a dominant position. The company’s ongoing challenges in North America, its largest and historically most profitable market, have proven particularly difficult to reverse despite multiple rounds of strategic adjustments throughout the fiscal year.

With incoming CEO Heidi O’Neill set to formally assume leadership next week, investors and analysts will be watching closely for early signals of her strategic priorities and whether she can articulate a credible path toward stabilizing the company’s North American sales trends and restoring investor confidence following a fiscal year marked by repeated guidance cuts and a steep decline in the company’s share price.

Strong jobs report fuels Fed rate hike prospects as Trump escalates rate cut pressure

Strong jobs report fuels Fed rate hike prospects as Trump escalates rate cut pressure
A stronger-than-expected U.S. jobs report has put a September interest-rate hike back firmly on the table, leaving Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh facing a difficult choice as President Donald Trump intensifies his demands for lower borrowing costs, Reuters reported.

U.S. employers added 162,000 jobs in August, nearly three times what economists had expected, while the labor force participation rate rose to 61.6%. More people moved from the sidelines directly into jobs, helping keep the unemployment rate at 4.1% even as the pool of available workers expanded.

The report strengthens the argument for the Fed to raise rates at its Sept. 15-16 meeting, particularly after Warsh last week said he needed confidence that inflation was moving back toward the central bank’s 2% target “clearly and at sufficient speed. Otherwise, we have work to do.”

But the stronger labor market data arrives as Trump steps up pressure on the central bank.

“The Fed Board, with its great new leader, must get smart – BE PATRIOTS for a change,” Trump said in a Truth Social post Friday after the jobs data were released.

He also renewed his criticism of high interest rates, saying: “High interest rates put the U.S.A. at a very unfair disadvantage, and I won’t allow that to happen!”
Trump then tied his demand for lower rates to U.S. trade policy, threatening to halt trade with countries running a deficit with the United States.”We should have the LOWEST RATE of any country in the World … LOWER THE RATE OR I’LL STOP TRADING WITH COUNTRIES WITH WHICH WE HAVE A DEFICIT,” Trump said.

The threat adds another layer of uncertainty for the Fed, which is already navigating inflation that has remained above its 2% target for more than five years. Trump’s tariffs, along with higher energy prices linked to the escalation in the U.S.-Iran conflict and strong investment in artificial intelligence, have added to price pressures and pushed up longer-term Treasury yields.

For now, however, the jobs report itself does not settle the Fed’s decision.

Wage growth was 3.1% in August, a pace broadly consistent with the Fed’s inflation goal, while the increase in labor-force participation suggests the steady unemployment rate was driven by more people working or looking for work rather than a deterioration in labor-market conditions.

“The upshot of today’s numbers is that the September FOMC meeting remains finely balanced,” Pantheon Macro economists wrote. “FOMC members have uniformly signaled that inflation data will determine their next policy steps.”

That makes next week’s consumer price index and producer price index reports crucial. Fed Governor Christopher Waller told Reuters NEXT on Thursday that he would support keeping rates in the 3.50%-3.75% range if inflation data continued to moderate.

Markets nevertheless moved toward pricing a hike after Friday’s report, with interest-rate futures implying about a 62% chance of an increase this month, up from roughly 55% before the data.

“While Fed officials have communicated that they are squarely focused on the inflation readings, today’s strong employment report also provides additional support for rate hikes this year,” Nationwide Chief Economist Kathy Bostjancic wrote.

“We now see two, 25 basis-point rate hikes by year-end, lifting the fed funds rate to 4-4.25%.”
