10 Heaviest Adventure Movies of All Time
Plenty of adventure movies are fun, or if they’re not fun 100% of the time, the darker parts aren’t really overwhelming. You’ve got films like The Princess Bride that are pretty lightweight all the way through, and then maybe The Lord of the Rings is more what you’d expect tonally out of a standard adventure movie, since there are emotional highs and lows there, but ultimately more of a focus on the highs, once all is said and done (also, very little about that trilogy is “standard” in a technical sense, it has to be stressed).
Yet not all adventure movies are wholly fun, or even partly fun. The following ones, for example, are pretty downbeat all the way through, and some are genuinely soul-crushing. They’re the heaviest adventure movies ever made, basically, and maybe some you have to squint at a little, before you see they’re adventure films, but if “adventure” is listed as a genre on either Letterboxd or IMDb, then it’s fair game to be included here.

‘Gerry’ (2002)
The first entry in a bleak thematic trilogy directed by Gus Van Sant, Gerry does star two very recognizable actors, Casey Affleck and Matt Damon, but is otherwise a pretty difficult-to-approach movie. It’s about their two characters (both named Gerry, because of course they are; it’s that kind of film) getting lost in the desert, and finding it increasingly difficult to get back to somewhere familiar.
It’s not like you can read into it, but more that you have to read into Gerry and come up with something beyond the surface-level stuff here. It’s an art film, and a particularly aggressively artful one at that. Maybe it’s a bit pretentious, too, but it is technically a sort of adventure/survival film, and it’s a pretty anxiety-provoking and overall unhappy one, so it feels like it belongs here, even if its actual quality is kind of questionable and up for debate.

‘Beau Is Afraid’ (2023)
The title doesn’t lie, because Beau really is afraid throughout the entirety of Beau Is Afraid. What might be more surprising is just how long he’s afraid for, since Beau Is Afraid comes in at a kind of ridiculous three hours in length. Okay, technically, it’s a couple of minutes shy of three hours, but so are The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers, respectively (at least the theatrical cuts of those films), so being hyper-fixated on the runtime here feels understandable.
It’s definitely an adventure movie, too, albeit a dark and consistently intense one, since the plot here involves a man having to undertake a long trip so he can attend his mother’s funeral, even though the idea of leaving his comfort zone (which doesn’t look too comfortable in the first place) is absolutely terrifying to him. Beyond all that, Beau Is Afraid is also a comedy, more or less, and does succeed at being both a tonal and general nightmare, so approach this one with caution… even if there is quite a lot here to appreciate; like, the sheer gutsiness of it all.

‘The Northman’ (2022)
If The Northman counts as an epic, then it is admittedly on the shorter side of things, by epic movie standards, but it does feel pretty big, and you can’t fault its ambition, either. It’s about a young boy whose father is murdered by his uncle, and he escapes while vowing revenge, once he’s older. Then, the film jumps forward, and he is older. Vengeance ensues, and then also, vengeance turns out to be a messy thing to try and get.
There are some strange fantastical elements at play throughout The Northman, and then it’s also got quite a bit of action for something so unusual and unsettling, with all of that adding up to make a fairly unique film, even if the narrative is familiar, what with it being based on the story that influenced the (also influential) Hamlet and all. It’s not quite as downbeat as some of the horror films Robert Eggers has directed, but it’s also not too far off, and is pretty savage and brutal when judged as a fantasy/action/adventure film.

‘El Topo’ (1970)
El Topo is one of the most surreal Westerns ever made, and since it depicts a strange and drawn-out journey, it can technically count itself among the weirdest adventure films of all time, too. The central characters here are a violent man and his son, and they venture through a landscape that gets increasingly bizarre and difficult to navigate, with the whole movie feeling quite episodic, and frequently very violent, too.
For better or worse, El Topo does a very good job at feeling like a nightmare transposed to the big screen, with it being one of the trippiest films not just of its era (which, you know, was pretty trippy in the first place), but maybe even of all time. There are some very dark and unpleasant places it goes to, even for something that seems very willing to push boundaries while running the risk of offending people, so to say it’s not the sort of thing that’s for everyone would be a massive understatement.

‘Watership Down’ (1978)

Sure, it’s an animated movie, and it features rabbits, but Watership Down is indisputably savage and overall a pretty feel-bad affair. The narrative centers on a group of rabbits who have to undertake a journey to some sort of new land after events transpire, and it turns out they can’t really live where they used to anymore. From there, things get dark pretty early on, and eventually, things also get surprisingly violent, too.
By this point, it’s probably well known that Watership Down is not really kid-friendly, or if younger viewers do watch it, they should be warned it’s not going to be sunshine and rainbows, or otherwise very “Disney,” for lack of a better word. It’s not going to surprise people in that sense anymore, because it’s known for being one of the darker animated movies out there that’s not technically only for older audiences, but still, it is surprising, to some extent, where this one’s willing to go, and especially where it eventually ends up narratively and thematically.

‘Deliverance’ (1972)
With Deliverance, you get something that starts out feeling a bit like an adventure movie, with the focus being on a group of friends who go on a river-rafting trip, but then things eventually take a turn that throws the film more into survival/psychological thriller territory. If you know, then you know, and if you don’t know, maybe you’re better off not knowing, because Deliverance – despite its age – is still incredibly confronting.
There’s a lot done here with a simple premise, and the way in which a handful of characters are pushed to their physical and psychological limits. It might well even seem a bit too straightforward, but in execution, Deliverance makes it all work brutally well. The whole movie inspires fear of things you might not have been fearful of before, yet post-Deliverance, such things can never be seen (or heard) through innocent eyes (or ears) ever again.

‘The Descent’ (2005)
The Descent is most easily classified as a horror movie, but it’s got adventure film qualities, too, since it revolves around a group of women going on a caving expedition through increasingly claustrophobic territory. The darkness and the general confinement are already tense enough, but then The Descent throws in some creatures to make the whole experience so much worse for the main characters, and in that way, it transitions from a survival thriller to more of a horror film.
The Descent jumps around a lot, making you feel sad at times, unsettled at other points, and then sometimes genuinely terrified, too.
Also, the main character in The Descent is grappling with a recent personal tragedy when she agrees to go on the expedition, so that leads to some extra heaviness, and heaviness that’s there right from the start. ‘Sorcerer’ (1977)
There’s a bit of a dilemma here, and it comes down to not feeling comfortable including both The Wages of Fear and Sorcerer, just because they’re heavy-going and anxiety-provoking for similar reasons. The Wages of Fear came first, and might be the better film because it was more groundbreaking and admirable (considering its age), but Sorcerer, its remake, is perhaps even more downbeat and unapologetic with just how cynical it’s willing to get.
So, consider The Wages of Fear honorably mentioned, as something that pre-dated Sorcerer by about a quarter of a century, and was also about some desperate men trying to transport highly explosive material through dangerous terrain. Sorcerer is here, though, because William Friedkin admirably attempted to make the whole thing even darker and more vicious, and potentially succeeded, since Sorcerer stands a good chance at shocking and unnerving you even if you’ve already watched The Wages of Fear beforehand.

‘The Road’ (2009)
Cormac McCarthy wrote a post-apocalyptic book about surviving the aftermath of some sort of world-ending catastrophe called The Road, so of course the movie based on that book is a pretty darn bleak – and overall desolate – affair. Of all the movies here, this one feels like the biggest stretch, in terms of labeling it an adventure film, but there is a journey undertaken here throughout the whole thing, by a father and his son, even if the destination feels uncertain a good deal of the time.
For what it’s worth, it is a very effective film adaptation of some challenging source material, since both the book and movie versions of The Road manage to be bleak and upsetting in comparable ways. This is the sort of film you should probably watch, but it’s also maybe one of the least rewatchable films ever made. One viewing is more than enough, in other words.

‘Aguirre, the Wrath of God’ (1972)
By all accounts, Fitzcarraldo was the more hellish adventure film to make, for Werner Herzog and everyone else involved, but the film itself is not quite as confronting and despairing as Aguirre, the Wrath of God. And, for what it’s worth, there were still some production problems when it came to making this, but the reason the movie’s here, in the #1 spot, is that it’s pretty much the quintessential “going on a doomed expedition” sort of film.
The journey here involves looking for the lost city of El Dorado, with basically nothing going right early on, and then things going more aggressively wrong, like, later on. It’s a psychologically harrowing and unusually gripping film about madness, and it’s sort of just the cinematic equivalent of a non-stop – and continual – downward spiral. Aguirre, the Wrath of God is also really good, even if it feels designed to make you feel kind of bad.

After years of delays, rewrites, and uncertainty surrounding Marvel Studios’ long troubled Blade reboot, Mahershala Ali has finally addressed the project’s cancellation in his most candid comments yet.
Speaking with GQ while promoting his new film Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, Ali made it clear that he’s no longer dwelling on the failed Marvel project and has found peace with how everything unfolded.
“If they wanted to do it, we would’ve done it,” Ali told GQ. “So I have to move on, and I have moved on.”
The Oscar winner was first announced as Marvel’s new Blade during San Diego Comic Con in 2019, a reveal that instantly became one of the MCU’s biggest casting announcements. However, after multiple directors departed, several writers took over the screenplay, and the film was repeatedly delayed, Marvel ultimately shelved the project. Earlier this month, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige admitted he felt “like a gigantic loser and a failure” that the film never came together.
Despite the disappointment, Ali says the experience wasn’t a complete loss.
“The best way I can answer this question is, when I look at what is for me, is it was either this or that and I’ll take this. No offense to them,” Ali explained. “I’ve been doing this professionally for pushing 30 years now, and one thing I’ve learned is that what is for you is for you and what is not is not.”

Instead of starring as Marvel’s vampire hunter, Ali reunited with former Blade director Bassam Tariq to create the original action drama Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother. The actor believes the film ultimately became a more rewarding creative experience than the Marvel reboot could have been.
“When I look at this and Blade, I couldn’t have done both,” Ali said. “The reason this even exists is because that project fell apart… I was able to use those skills that I had been working on for over a year training for Blade. In that way, I feel creatively redeemed on some level.”
Ali also acknowledged that the first teaser for the new film intentionally included him wielding a sword, something many fans viewed as a nod to the character they never got to see him play.
“I’m glad we were able to satisfy that and kind of move on,” he said, adding that while audiences may have expected a big budget superhero spectacle, the smaller scale project allowed them to tell a much deeper and more personal story.

As for whether fans should continue asking him about Marvel’s canceled reboot, Ali made his position perfectly clear.
“I’m good,” he said with a laugh. “Again, you had me under contract, they have billions of dollars, if they wanted to do the movie, we would’ve done the movie. So we’re not doing the movie… I feel ready to move on from the Blade questions. Those questions are for them. They didn’t want to do it, so they should answer that question.”
For many Marvel fans, Ali’s comments offer long awaited closure on one of the MCU’s most infamous canceled projects. While his version of Blade never made it to the big screen, the actor has made it clear he’s looking ahead, not back.

Tom Selleck is renewing his criticism of CBS over the cancellation of “Blue Bloods,” revealing that the cast had already sacrificed part of their salaries to keep the long-running drama alive. The 81-year-old actor claimed the ensemble agreed to a 25% pay reduction despite the show remaining one of broadcast television’s strongest performers. Selleck, who portrayed New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan throughout the show’s run, argued that neither the cast nor the story had run out of steam when CBS ended the series in 2024.
Appearing on Ted Danson’s “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” podcast, Selleck revealed the extent of the cast’s efforts to prevent the cancellation.
“The real truth to that is in the last year of [the series], at our last family dinner, everybody wanted to come back. We’d already taken a 25% cut in salary,” Selleck said, adding that they had already “done all sorts of things to keep the show going.”
Selleck was reportedly earning approximately $200,000 per episode before the reduction. Across a traditional 22-episode season, that rate would have amounted to roughly $4.4 million. His reported salary dropped to approximately $150,000 per episode during the final season. Despite those financial concessions, CBS moved forward with concluding “Blue Bloods” after 14 seasons.
Tom Selleck Says The Show Was ‘Certainly Not Out Of Ideas’
Selleck also pushed back against any suggestion that the procedural drama had reached the natural end of its creative life. The actor said “Blue Bloods” was “certainly not out of ideas” and pointed to its enduring popularity as evidence that the series could have continued.
“Out of the top 100 shows on broadcast television, Blue Bloods was number six in our fifteenth year. Nobody wanted to leave. It may be some kind of record to have the same cast intact for that length of time,” he said.
The drama premiered on September 24, 2010, and went on to become CBS’ second-longest-running scripted series behind “NCIS.” Selleck previously expressed similar frustration during a 2024 interview as the final episodes approached.
“During those last eight shows, I haven’t wanted to talk about an ending for ‘Blue Bloods’ but about it still being wildly successful,” he said. “In a Top 100 Shows of 2023-2024 (in total viewers, we were number 9 out of 100), if you discount the three football shows, we’re #6!”
Actor Believes ‘Blue Bloods’ Was Taken For Granted
According to Selleck, the show’s consistent performance may have ultimately caused the network to undervalue it. “My frustration is the show was always taken for granted because it performed from the get-go,” he explained.
Selleck noted that “Blue Bloods” reliably attracted an audience despite airing on Friday nights, a time slot that networks have traditionally viewed as difficult.
“I’m not going to turn into a bitter old guy saying, ‘Get off my lawn!’ I don’t believe in holding grudges, but if you were to say to the television network, ‘Here’s a show you can program in the worst time slot you got, and it is going to guarantee you winning Friday night for the next 15 years,’ it would be almost impossible to believe,” he said.
The actor admitted that he was still processing how such a dependable show could be brought to an end while viewers and cast members remained invested. “So how do I feel? It’s going to take a long time to sort all of this out,” Selleck said.
Tom Selleck Struggled To Adjust After The Finale
For 14 years, Selleck regularly traveled between his California ranch and the East Coast to film “Blue Bloods.” That routine ended abruptly once the final episode was completed, leaving the actor momentarily expecting to return to work as usual.
“I remember after the weekend [of the final episode’s shoot], I said, ‘I’ve got to get to bed early tonight because I have to do my dialogue for Monday.’ Well, there was no Monday. It’s just going to take a while,” he recalled.
Selleck reportedly returned to his California ranch with his wife, Jillie Mack, following the conclusion of the series. The actor remained confident that viewers were not prepared to lose the Reagan family.
“CBS will find an awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it,” he said at the time. “The show’s more popular than ever, and I think [numbers] will increase with the interest this year. We’re certainly not out of ideas.”
CBS Called The Series A ‘Beloved’ Part Of Its Legacy
CBS Entertainment and CBS Studios acknowledged the show’s popularity in a joint statement announcing its conclusion. “Blue Bloods will forever be a beloved part of CBS’s legacy,” the network executives said. “It ruled Friday nights with unprecedented dominance since its premiere and established itself as a pillar of our winning lineup with an exceptionally devoted fan base.”
“We’ll be forever grateful to the legendary Leonard Goldberg for developing this signature series and to the amazing cast led by Tom Selleck, who America embraced as a family and watched as welcomed guests at the Reagan dinner table,” they added.
However, those words have done little to ease Selleck’s frustration over the decision, or his concerns about life without the show’s steady income. “You know, hopefully I keep working enough to hold on to the place,” Selleck previously said of his 63-acre ranch.
When asked whether that was seriously a concern if he stopped working, he replied, “That’s always an issue, if I stopped working, yeah. Am I set for life? Yeah, but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch!”

“Renovation Aloha” stars Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama are pushing back against the belief that their real estate success was built on family money. The married HGTV personalities revealed that they were once carrying approximately $80,000 in debt and occasionally needed assistance paying their rent before establishing their business. Although Kamohai’s father, banking executive Corbett Kalama, has achieved considerable success, the television star insists he never received money from him to launch the couple’s real estate company.
In an Instagram video shared Tuesday, Kamohai opened up about the financial hardship he and Tristyn endured before entering the real estate industry. According to the HGTV star, the couple was in a “dire situation when we found real estate” and had accumulated “like $80,000 in bad debt.”
Kamohai said their struggle reflected the financial pressure experienced by many residents of Hawaii because “like a lot of people here in Hawaii, just because it’s so expensive” to live there. At their lowest point, the couple reportedly found themselves “asking for help for rent some months.”
‘Renovation Aloha’ Stars Deny Having Trust Funds
Kamohai also addressed assumptions about his upbringing and his father’s success in the banking industry. He insisted that he did not grow up with a “silver spoon” and is not a “trust fund baby.”
Tristyn joked that she would not necessarily object to receiving one in the future. “I’ll still take a trust fund if anyone wants to make me a beneficiary,” she quipped.
Kamohai explained that “his whole family started from nothing” and denied receiving a loan or investment from his father when launching the couple’s company. “The fact of the matter is, I’ve never taken a penny from my dad to start a real estate company, nor has he invested in it at all,” Kamohai said. “I think a lot of people get that twisted.”
The Couple Says Their Success Came From Taking Risks
Tristyn and Kamohai expanded upon their story in the caption accompanying their Instagram video. They began by emphasizing that “hard work doesn’t always look the way people think it does.”
“We didn’t come from money. We didn’t have trust funds. We didn’t have family writing checks to make our dreams happen,” they wrote.
Instead, the couple said their journey began with serious financial uncertainty and difficult decisions. “We came from debt. From wondering how we were going to pay the bills some months. From taking risks that could’ve gone either way. From failing, learning, and getting back up again.”
Their eventual success did not eliminate public criticism. According to the pair, the scrutiny became more intense as their business and television profiles grew.
Tristyn And Kamohai Kalama Address Assumptions About Their Success
The HGTV stars explained that as they have “grown, the criticism hasn’t gotten quieter,” but instead has become “louder.” They believe some people would rather create their own explanations for the couple’s achievements than accept how much work went into building their career.
“People create stories to explain your success,” they said, “because it’s easier than believing it came from years of sacrifice, consistency, and relentless work.”
According to the pair, criticism can come from people at every level. They wrote that “the ones above you try to keep you down, and the ones below you think you got it handed to you.”
However, the couple said their actual path was much less dramatic than the stories people may tell about them. The TV personalities declared that “the truth is far less glamorous,” explaining that they “just kept showing up.”

Tristyn and Kamohai concluded their message by encouraging those currently facing financial or professional uncertainty to continue working toward their goals. “If you’re in a season where it feels impossible, keep going. Don’t let someone else’s assumptions make you question your own journey. Your story isn’t finished yet,” they advised.
Their own journey ultimately took them from mounting debt and difficulties covering rent to a successful real estate business and a television series centered on their work in O’ahu, Hawaii. “Renovation Aloha” premiered on HGTV in 2024. The series follows Tristyn and Kamohai as they renovate neglected properties on the island before transforming them into homes for local families.
The program has aired 30 episodes across three seasons.

The sandals are made with the brand’s ‘Matlite’ material, which has an almost plastic-like feel. They’re a bit smoother yet are super flexible, which I appreciate. The only problem is that if I sweat in the summer, the straps tend to rub against my pinky toe. However, other shoppers did not have that same experience. And after a few years of wear, I’ve noticed a few scratches on the top, but truthfully, that’s only if I really look at them. They’re black after all!

After weeks of mounting pressure, the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office has completed Nolan Wells‘ autopsy. But the public won’t learn the results of it anytime soon! It will remain sealed until a grand jury gets eyes on it first. During the wait for the completion, social media users had already demanded that the lead examiner step down after digging into her history of “accidental” rulings.

Nolan Wells’ Formal Autopsy Completed, What’s Next?
NBC News was the first to report the completed autopsy, citing direct confirmation from the officials involved. The Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office reportedly conducted the autopsy on July 7, one day after his body was recovered. Wells traveled to Horn Island via boat with friends on July 4, but never made it home. Amid a mass search, a park ranger discovered his body two days later in the water near the island. While local law enforcement quickly suggested the 18-year-old might’ve accidentally drowned, the Black community in particular, including his parents, didn’t fully buy into that narrative.
There’s been a heavy demand, from Nolan’s loved ones too, for transparency in the investigation and the autopsy results. And finally, as of Thursday, Mississippi has concluded the autopsy procedure. However, the public, Nolan Wells’ parents and even their legal rep, Ben Crump, won’t be seeing the final results for a hot minute.
That’s because last week the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office announced the results will remain sealed. DA Angel Myers McIlrath said a grand jury will be first to review the report after the death investigation is completed. The DA revealed that it’s standard practice for non-natural deaths to be presented to a jury. Additionally, McIlrath defended the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office prioritizing the investigation and withholding some information, despite the pressure. “The pressure for answers does not change what the work requires,” the DA added.
What Did The Independent Autopsy Show?
While the official autopsy is just wrapping, the public learned the findings of the independent autopsy last week. With the financial assistance of Colin Kaepernick, Nolan Wells’ family sent his body to Washington, D.C. for an independent autopsy. Dr. Roger Mitchell completed the procedure and Attorney Ben Crump announced the findings last Wednesday (July 22), revealing the autopsy was conducted on July 19.
Ultimately, the report cited Nolan Wells’ cause of death as “undetermined pending investigation.” Also, the date of his death is “unknown.” Furthermore, the report cited a “12×8-inch ‘soft tissue’ with red discoloration at the back of Nolan’s head. Crump called that “significant,” citing pictures he had reviewed.
One part of the independent autopsy that rocked social media was the missing body parts, per Dr. Mitchell. Wells’ body was sent to D.C. while missing “interior inner neck structures” and other parts of his neck, such as the trachea. Crump and team believe the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office retained the structures for evaluation. At a press conference this week, Crump revealed that his team is working to obtain the missing body parts and other information for Dr. Mitchell’s evaluation.
Another standout note from the autopsy was that Nolan Wells’ body had “marked decomposition.” This made it impossible to determine whether Nolan had bruises or abrasions. Overall, Dr. Mitchell could not rule out whether any “intervening non-accidental factors contributed to or caused” Nolan’s death. He requires more information, including photos, from the state medical examiner to get more conclusive results.

What Do You Think Roomies?
There are popular superheroes. There are titans of the box office. And then there’s the amazing Spider-Man. More than twenty years after Spidey swung into movie theatres for the first time, few could have seen just how enormous his cinematic appeal would still be two decades on, as audiences are still prepared to turn up in frankly ridiculous numbers whenever Peter Parker swings back onto the big screen. Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man might well be the most beloved superhero of all time at this stage, because Spider-Man: Brand New Day has barely started its theatrical run, and records are already tumbling.
In just one day of previews, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has generated more than $74 million, including $3.75 million from earlier screenings hosted by Amazon Prime, which is miles ahead of second place. Current estimates have the film’s preview haul potentially finishing closer to $75 million, around 20-25% above the previous record held by Avengers: Endgame and, even more remarkably, advance ticket sales are already reported to have surpassed $200 million, overtaking Endgame for the largest pre-sales total in box office history.
All of this means an absolutely enormous domestic opening on the table, while projections now have Brand New Day targeting $350 million or more across its opening weekend, which would put Holland’s fourth solo Spider-Man movie within touching distance of Endgame’s seemingly untouchable $357.1 million domestic debut. For comparison, No Way Home opened to $260.1 million in 2021 after generating an estimated $78 million in advance sales.
Is ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Worth Seeing?
All of this has happened along with critical acclaim from critics, with many hailing it as the best Spider-Man film since the heady days of Sam Raimi‘s direction. Opening-night audiences awarded Brand New Day an “A” CinemaScore, while Rotten Tomatoes has a critics score of 91% from 267 reviews, and an audience score of 98% from over 5,000 ratings.
Collider’s Charles Ridgely hailed it as the “best Spider-Man movie in 20 years”, adding that there “is a lot packed into Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and at over two hours and 20 minutes, it is on the longer side for a standalone Marvel movie, but somehow, it never feels needlessly overstuffed”.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Brand New Day brings Holland back as Peter Parker alongside Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds. The cast also features Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Michael Mando as Scorpion and Tramell Tillman as Bill Metzger.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now playing in theatres.

Megan Moroney was overcome with emotion as she abruptly ended her Denver concert after performing only two songs. The country singer took the stage at Ball Arena despite feeling unwell, hoping she had done enough to recover before the show. However, Moroney’s noticeably hoarse voice made it clear that she could not deliver the full performance her fans had expected. She tearfully apologized to the audience, promised to return and explained that she wanted concertgoers to receive the show they deserved.
Fan footage circulating on TikTok shows Moroney struggling to speak as she addressed the crowd from the stage. “This is obviously the last thing I want to do, but I am obviously extremely sick, and I thought I did everything to make myself better and then obviously two songs in, I just can’t play this show tonight,” the 28-year-old said.
Moroney did not disclose the nature of her illness or explain when her symptoms first began. Her effort to continue with the concert ultimately proved unsuccessful, forcing her to make the difficult decision to stop before potentially worsening her condition.
The emotional moment unfolded just two songs into a performance that had been scheduled as part of Moroney’s ongoing “Cloud 9 Tour.”
Country Star Promises To Make It Up To Fans
Despite struggling to continue speaking, Moroney reassured the audience that she intends to return to Denver for another performance. “But I do, I will make it up to you guys. I absolutely promise I’ll be back. You’ll be able to come. But I wanna give you guys the show you deserve,” she said before dissolving into tears while repeatedly expressing how “sorry” she was that she could not finish the concert.
Instead of responding with frustration, fans inside Ball Arena erupted into cheers and offered encouragement from the crowd.
Megan Moroney’s Next Tour Date Is Set For Portland
Moroney is currently touring in support of her album “Cloud 9,” with her next scheduled performance set for Saturday at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. It remains unclear whether she will be healthy enough to return to the stage by then. Her “Cloud 9 Tour” represents a major moment in the singer’s career as she brings her latest musical era to audiences across the country.
Country Artists Have Prioritized Their Health And Families
Moroney’s emotional exit comes shortly after Bailey Zimmerman announced that he had canceled his upcoming shows in the United Kingdom and Europe to focus on “important family matters.”
“This was not an easy decision and it kills me to have to cancel because I know how excited everyone is… but right now I need to take this time to focus on important family matters. Everything is okay, it’s just my family needs my attention and that’s what I’ve gotta do,” Zimmerman told fans in an Instagram post.
The singer confirmed that he still intends to perform his scheduled North American shows in August. Afterward, he plans to step away to concentrate on himself, his family and new music. “Once again I’m so sorry to everybody that has waited so long… I hope y’all can understand that my family has to come first,” Zimmerman added.

The $19.99 rhinestone tumbler was originally created as a one-of-a-kind gift for Moroney during an event in Athens, Georgia.
