Ben Affleck’s Forgotten Adaptation of an Iconic Sci-Fi Thriller Returns to Streaming in April

Published

on

There is a very specific kind of early-2000s studio sci-fi thriller that feels almost impossible to recreate now. High concept, glossy, a little paranoid, and stacked with stars, those movies usually revolved around one killer premise and enough confidence to carry it through. Paycheck fits that mold perfectly. It has never had the reputation of the biggest Philip K. Dick adaptations, but it has always had its own odd little appeal.

That overlooked genre entry is heading to Paramount+ on April 1 as part of the streamer’s next monthly lineup. It is an easy one to imagine finding a second life there, especially for viewers who have a soft spot for old-school puzzle-box thrillers.

Directed by John Woo, the 2003 film stars Ben Affleck as Michael Jennings, a reverse engineer who takes lucrative jobs under one unusual condition: his memory is wiped after each assignment. When he wakes up after one major project, he discovers he has given up a massive payday in exchange for an envelope full of random everyday items. Naturally, those objects turn out to be the only clues he has to survive what comes next.

The cast includes Affleck as Michael Jennings, Uma Thurman as Dr. Rachel Porter, Aaron Eckhart as James Rethrick, Paul Giamatti as Shorty, Colm Feore as John Wolfe, and Joe Morton as Agent Dodge.

Is ‘Paycheck’ Worth Watching?

Roger Ebert‘s review stated that Paycheck starts with a genuinely great sci-fi premise and then gradually turns it into something much more ordinary. Built around a Philip K. Dick idea about memory wipes, future tech, and a man trying to decode clues left for himself, the film has all the ingredients for a sharp, paranoid thriller. Instead, it mostly settles for a pretty standard action movie.

“And the attempts of the Allcom security staff to deal with the various locks and alarms in their top-secret lab had me thinking of “Dumb and Dumber.” There are countless fascinating possibilities involved in Philip K. Dick’s story, and I’m kind of sad that the ones ranking highest in the minds of the filmmakers was the opportunity to have chase scenes and blow stuff up real good.”

Paycheck will premiere on Paramount+ on April 1.

Netflix’s A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder Season 2: All We Know

Netflix's A Good Girl's Guide To Murder Season 2: All We Know

By Brian Myers
| Published

Just when fans thought that Pip Fitz was about to enjoy a break from the drama, Netflix has announced a follow-up season to the popular series A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. As of this writing, details are already beginning to emerge, showing that the upcoming slate of episodes will be even darker than the first. Fans will also revel in the news that many of their favorite characters will return for another crime being solved by Britain’s modern-era Nancy Drew.

The Good Girls Rundown

Season 1 follows 17-year-old Pip Fitz-Amobi (Wednesday co-star Emma Myers), a college-bound student who decides to delve into a controversial topic for her Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). Five years earlier, teenage girl Andi Bell disappeared from Pip’s small English village. Andi is widely believed to have been murdered by her boyfriend Sal (Rahul Pattni), though her body was never discovered. Before the police could charge him, Sal sent a text message to his family, apologizing for his actions. His body was discovered soon after, his death ruled a homicide.

Several items surrounding Andi’s disappearance never sat well with Pip, who was one of the last people to have seen the teen alive. Pip begins her research into the case, conducting interviews with Sal and Andi’s friends and family. The inconsistencies in the death timeline, contradicting statements from witnesses, and the revelation that Sal had an alibi when Andi disappeared feed into both Pip’s obsession with solving the case as well as several locals who appear to be preparing to harm the young sleuth.

Though the true killer is eventually revealed (along with two others who committed separate crimes), the mystery will only deepen with Season 2. When a key witness for the trial of Max Hastings disappears, Pip avows to find him. But she finds herself at odds with the small community she calls home, which was torn apart by all of the revelations unveiled by Pip’s detective work in Season 1. Again the target of violent threats, Pip will eventually have to decide what is more important: the truth or her life.

Fan-Favorite Characters Return In The Best Ways

Myers will not be the only familiar face for the second season. Zai Iqbal, who played Pip’s sidekick and love interest, returns in the role of Ravi. Henry Ashton once again plays Max Hastings, with Asha Banks (Cara Ward), Jude Morgan Collie (Connor Reynolds), and Misia Butler (Kaos co-star Stanley Forbes) resuming their characters from the first season.

The second season will feature six episodes. Like season one, expect a running time of less than 60 minutes each, making it easily bingeable. Fans are already speculating about additional seasons, though no formal announcement beyond season two has been made.

The series did respectably well, garnering an average rating of 6.8/10 on IMDB and receiving an 82-percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The first season was also awarded a ReFrame Stamp, an award given to shows that are portrayed as a “gender-balanced production.”

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is based on the New York Times best-selling books by Holly Jackson. The first book was published in 2019, with Good Girl, Bad Blood released a year later. Two more follow-ups were given to eager fans in 2021, a prequel titled Kill Joy and As Good As Dead. The books have been the recipients of multiple literary awards, including the YA Book Prize, the British Book Awards (Children’s Fiction Book of the Year), and the American Library Association’s Amazing Audiobooks For Young Adults Award.

As of this writing, no official release date has been set by either Netflix or the BBC. Fans can expect the new season sometime later in 2026. For those who haven’t seen the show (or for fans wanting a quick rewatch before the next season lands), you can stream The Good Girls Guide to Murder on Netflix.

Heartbreaking TV Deaths of 2026: Grey’s Anatomy, Bridgerton

Published

Every Star Who Left NCIS Where Are They Now Rocky Carroll

Grey’s Anatomy wasn’t the only show that killed off a major character in 2026 — and many of those fictional deaths still have fans upset.

During the March 2026 episode of the hit ABC series, Lucas (Niko Terho) and Simone (Alexis Floyd) were providing Katie (Samantha Marie Ware) with at-home hospice care as her health declined.

Lucas and Katie grew closer while reminiscing on what could have happened between them if she hadn’t gotten sick. She ultimately died when he was at the hospital getting more supplies, which prevented him from saying goodbye.

Earlier in the month, Yellowstone‘s spinoff Marshals surprised fans by revealing that Monica (Kelsey Asbille) died off screen after battling cancer.

“Kayce had such a perfect ending in Yellowstone,” showrunner Spencer Hudnut told TVLine at the time. “His dreams had finally come true. As we were trying to figure out how to tell the next chapter in Kayce’s story, it felt like he really needed to be shaken out of that. Unfortunately, tragedy tends to find Kayce, so something bad was going to happen for him one way or the other. It just sort of played out that it was going to be Monica.”

After being on NCIS since 2008, Rocky Carroll’s fan-favorite character was killed off in the 500th episode. Vance was shot by a CID agent before dying from the fatal wound.

NCIS sent Vance out on a high with a montage of him through the years with Gibbs (Mark Harmon), Tony (Michael Weatherly), Ziva (Cote de Pablo), Ducky (David McCallum), McGee, Abby (Pauley Perrette), Bishop (Emily Wickersham) and the current NCIS team.

During the show’s series finale (which aired in December 2025 but it is all we could think about going into 2026), Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) survived multiple near-death experiences while fighting to destroy Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). Eleven was ultimately able to face — and kill — Vecna once and for all, but she didn’t return to Hawkins. Instead, Eleven remained in the Upside Down to make sure her friends survived and weren’t constantly in danger because of her existence.

The time jump at the end of the episode showed that Eleven was thought to be dead. Mike (Finn Wolfhard), however, suggested another theory where she survived and disappeared to live her life outside of Hawkins.

Brooks Nader Is Reportedly Dating After High-Profile Links

There is one less lonely girl in the world, and that is Brooks Nader!

The model and her new love interest have been spotted getting cozy in public months after her highly publicized split from Gleb Savchenko, her dancer partner on “Dancing With The Stars.”

Brooks Nader was also previously married to Billy Haire, but they parted ways in 2024 after four years of marriage, and they finalized their divorce in early 2025.

The model and the “Rocketman” actor were spotted watching Ryan Gosling’s latest movie, “Project Hail Mary,” in Los Angeles on Friday, March 27. The next day, Nader and Taron Egerton grabbed drinks at Shutters by the Beach hotel in Santa Monica. According to an eyewitness, the couple looked every inch smitten with each other, stealing romantic glances, and later stopped at the hotel bar before heading to dinner.

The source continued that it was not the couple’s first time hanging out together, as they have known each other for a very long time. According to Page Six, Egerton was previously linked to “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” actress Chloe Bennet, but broke things off in the summer of 2025.

As for Nader, her longest romantic relationship was with her ex-husband, whom she started dating when she was 18 and ended things on that chapter at 27. The model claimed Haire was her first date and first introduction to what a romantic relationship is.

As reported by Elle, Nader married the businessman when she was 22, and at the time of the divorce, she explained that her family opposed the separation. However, she was focused on doing what was best for her and becoming better from it.

In July 2024, after her separation, sources claimed that Nader was linking up with Tom Brady, although it was described as very casual, as they both operate on different social bandwidths. In September of the same year, Nader began dating Savchenko on season 33 of “DWTS,” and one year later, she was linked to Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz after her sister, Grace Ann Nader, confirmed they were romantically involved.

The model was once again linked to another Italian tennis player, Jannik Sinner, while she was allegedly seeing Alcaraz. Nader addressed the dynamics during a September 2025 episode of “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen,” stating, “Dating is such a loose term these days. I don’t know. By the way, my only thing is, guys do it all the time, so why can’t I do it?”

Brooks Nader’s Parents Reportedly Still Cordial With Billy Haire

Last year, PEOPLE reported that the 29-year-old’s parents, Holland Nader and Breaux Nader, revealed on her new Hulu reality show that they still keep in touch with their ex-son-in-law. Nader’s mom explained to her daughter that she has her own relationship with the entrepreneur, and they are both golfing partners.

Holland continued that, as for him, he wished Haire a merry Christmas, emphasizing that they always want the best for him. As for Nader’s divorce from Haire, sources from the model’s camp confirmed that the split was amicable.

The model and her ex-husband tied the knot on December 14, 2019, at St. Mary’s Church in New Orleans with 300 guests, walking down the aisle in a Pronovias Oberon gown, while Haire donned a Tom Ford tuxedo. Haire is now engaged to “Southern Charm” alum Naomie Olindo after dating for a few months. They announced the news on Instagram last December with pictures from the ceremony.

The Media Personality Tried Something New For Her Latest Role

Nader stepped into really big shoes for her upcoming appearance on the “Baywatch” reboot series on Fox. The media personality and her pal, Livvy Dunne, joined the reboot of the drama Television series to play the roles of lifeguard captain Selene and junior lifeguard Grace.

As noted by The Blast, Nader reacted to the news, confirming that she has been getting in top shape for her new gig by taking swimming lessons. While Nader did not grow up swimming or take any lessons, she joked that she had trained to become an Olympic-standard swimmer since she joined the series’ cast.

The model also fine-tuned her acting skills to make her presence on set memorable. Fox shared the heartwarming news that the series was returning to its screens last year, announcing that the show had landed a 12-episode straight-to-series order from the broadcast network for a premiere during the 2026-27 season.

The internet personality moved to the Big Apple in 2017 for greener pastures in modeling, and when she hit a wall, she ran to her modeling agency for a chance to make a way. She recalled telling her agency that a hand modelling gig could pull her from the financial pits she was deep in.

She eventually got her breakthrough with a gig for BareMinerals in New Jersey, which helped her stay afloat. Nader, who graced the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit in 2023, shared that she was discouraged from giving it a shot in 2019.

However, her tenacity to achieve greatness simply grew stronger for the next three years after 2019, when she was featured in the magazine. The 29-year-old also clinched the Sports Illustrated Swim Search open casting call in 2019, beating out 10,000 applicants to earn her first placement in the magazine.
