D4vd Investigated By Grand Jury In Celeste Rivas Hernandez Case

D4vd, real name David Burke, is the target of a Los Angeles County grand jury investigation in the killing of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Police found her decomposed body last year in an apparently abandoned Tesla Model Y registered to the ‘Here With Me’ singer. Court documents reportedly showed the vehicle was towed from the Hollywood Hills, according to The Associated Press.

D4vd’s Family Members Appeal Subpoenas To Testify

Police had not publicly named D4vd—pronounced “David”—as a suspect in the case. But according to court documents obtained by the AP on Wednesday (Feb. 25), prosecutors describe D4vd as the target of a grand jury investigation. While he is a target, officials have yet to formally file charges. The documents say:

“Target may be involved in having committed the following criminal offenses against the laws of the State of California, to wit: One count of Murder.”

Meanwhile, grand jury subpoenas went out on Jan. 15, seeking the testimony of three of his relatives. The paperwork was previously sealed in California, where the grand jury investigation has been kept secret. However, the documents became public after D4vd’s mother, father and brother appealed their subpoenas in Texas. According to the court filings, the singer used the address where his relatives reside to register the Tesla that later had Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s body in it. Ultimately, a judge in Texas ruled that the three family members could not ignore the subpoenas and ordered them to appear in California to testify. It’s unclear if they’ve already given said testimony.

Subpoena Reveals Gruesome Details About Celeste’s Body

Police found the body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez on Sept. 8, a day after she would have turned 15. She was a 13-year-old seventh grader when her family reported her missing in 2024 from her hometown of Lake Elsinore. That’s about 70 miles southeast of Los Angeles. Court documents say authorities listed her age as 14 at the time she was killed.

The subpoena says police investigators searching the Tesla in a tow yard found a cadaver bag “covered with insects and a strong odor of decay.” It says “detectives partially unzipped the bag and observed a decomposed head and torso.” Investigators from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene.

“Upon removing the cadaver bag from the front storage compartment, it was discovered the arms and legs had been severed from the body,” the document says. “A second black bag was discovered underneath the cadaver bag. Upon opening the second bag, the dismembered body parts were discovered.”

Before the police searched it, the Tesla had been towed from an upscale neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills. It had been sitting there, seemingly abandoned.

For context, the Medical Examiner’s Office had previously said only that police found Celeste’s body severely decomposed. They also previously said Rivas Hernandez had likely been dead for an extended period before police found her body.

Then, in November, Los Angeles police got a judge to prevent Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Odey Ukpo from releasing the findings of the autopsy. Officials have not revealed the cause of death.

What Has D4vd And His Team Said About The Grand Jury Investigation?

D4vd gained popularity among Gen Z fans for his blend of indie rock, R&B and lo-fi pop. He went viral on TikTok in 2022 with the hit ‘Romantic Homicide.’ The song peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. He then signed with Darkroom and Interscope Records and released his debut EP ‘Petals to Thorns’ and a follow-up, ‘The Lost Petals,’ in 2023.

When Celeste’s body was discovered, D4vd had been on tour in the U.S. The tour was to support his first full-length album, ‘Withered.’ Still, he continued to play several shows. Later, the last two U.S. shows, in San Francisco and Los Angeles, along with a scheduled performance at LA’s Grammy Museum, were canceled. His European tour, which was supposed to start in Norway, was also clipped.

Representatives for D4vd did not immediately respond to the Associated Press’s request for comment on Wednesday. Additionally, the outlet says his team has not previously responded to emails from the AP seeking comment on the case. The District Attorney’s Office declined to comment.

Ashley Tisdale Will Star in Coparenting Comedy After ‘Toxic’ Mom Group Drama

Published

Ashley Tisdale French has scored a role in a new comedy about coparenting.

Deadline reported on Friday, February 27 that the actress, 40, will star in upcoming CBS comedy, You’re Only Young Twice. Tisdale French will also executive produce the comedy, according to the outlet.

The series, which will be Tisdale French’s first acting role in six years, will follow her character Emily and her ex Alex, who got married in high school after Emily got pregnant. Now that the pair’s child has grown up and is off to college, Emily and Alex (both now aged 35) start fresh as newly divorced empty nesters.

Tisdale French posted a screenshot of the Deadline article via her Instagram on Friday and captioned the post, “I told my agent I was retired in acting and he said… umm no you’re not 🤷🏼‍♀️”

The new role comes after the High School Musical star ruffled feathers in January by blasting her mom group as “toxic” and writing a personal essay for The Cut as well as a Substack post detailing her decision to walk away.

In the piece, she called out the group and revealed she had ultimately quit it after feeling ostracized.

While she didn’t name any of the other moms involved in the group, many of her fans believed it to be the mom group she shared with other celebrity moms, such as Meghan Trainor, Mandy Moore and Hilary Duff. (Tisdale French’s representative denied this at the time.)

“I remember being left out of a couple of group hangs, and I knew about them because Instagram made sure it fed me every single photo and Instagram Story,” Tisdale French wrote at the time. “I was starting to feel frozen out of the group, noticing every way that they seemed to exclude me. … I told myself it was all in my head, and it wasn’t a big deal. And yet, I could sense a growing distance between me and the other members of the group, who seemed to not even care that I wasn’t around much.”

Tisdale French described parting ways with the other mom by texting the group that it felt “too high school for me, and I don’t want to take part in it anymore.”

During an appearance on the Wednesday, February 25, episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Duff claimed people didn’t have to “connect very many dots” to figure out which mom group Tisdale French was referring to.

“I felt really sad. I honestly felt really sad. I was pretty, pretty taken aback and felt just sad,” Duff, 38, said of Tisdale French’s claims. “I have so many groups of friends. I’m so lucky.”

Earlier this month, Kaley Cuoco, who is part of a different mom group, took a swipe at Tisdale French for the essay.

“I mean, if you don’t like being part of a group, just leave, baby,” Cuoco, 40, said while appearing on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on February 5. “Do we have to talk about it?”

Will Bridgerton Recast Phoebe Dynevor, Rege-Jean Page After Long Absence?

Published

on

Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell broke her silence about if Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page are at risk of being recast.

“We are not interested in recasting the characters,” Brownell told Variety on Thursday, February 26. “I think it would feel like a disservice to everything Regé and Phoebe set up in season 1, and all the beautiful work they put into those characters.”

Brownell didn’t rule out an onscreen return for them.

“We would love to potentially have them back at some point, but I think, logistically, we want to make sure we bring them back when we have something really meaty for them,” she continued. “And to have them come back to say a line at a funeral [in season 4] and just prove that they were there, it wouldn’t feel right for many reasons.”

Bridgerton quickly became a fan favorite after debuting on Netflix in 2020, but not all of the show’s cast members chose to stick around. The historical drama, which is based on the book series written by Julia Quinn, follows the members of the wealthy Bridgerton family as they search for love in 19th century London. […]

She concluded: “So I think in my mind, the camera doesn’t capture everything. They’re hypothetically there [this season] — it’s television. But we would love to find a time to bring everyone back at some point in the future.”

Bridgerton, which is based on the book series written by Julia Quinn, follows the members of the wealthy Bridgerton family as they search for love in 19th century London. Season 1 focused on Daphne Bridgerton’s (Dynevor) unexpected connection with Simon Basset (Page).

After the show premiered, viewers fell in love with Page, 38, and his character, which made his departure that much more shocking. Netflix announced in April 2021 that Page would not be reprising his role as the Duke of Hastings despite plans for Daphne to appear in future seasons.

That same month, Page noted that Simon had always been pitched to him as a condensed role, telling Variety, “It’s a one-season arc. It’s going to have a beginning, middle, end — give us a year. [I thought] ‘That’s interesting,’ because then it felt like a limited series. I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit, and then the Bridgerton family rolls on.”

Page stood by his decision even though fans have publicly voiced their disappointment about not getting to see more of Simon’s story. Season 2 still featured several appearances from Daphne, who was accompanied by her and Simon’s son, Auggie.

However, Dynevor, 30, later confirmed her own exit from the series, which didn’t appear to be her choice. “Sadly [I’m] not in season 3. Potentially in the future. But season 3, I’m just excited to watch as a viewer,” she told Screen Rant in January 2023 about not being called back to film.

Other former Bridgerton leads, including Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley, also had very minimal screen time since their seasons came to an end.

Robert Cosby Previously Told His Mother That He Was Using Hard Drugs For A Specific Reason

Robert’s death hit Bravo viewers hard, considering the young adult bravely spoke with his mother, Mary, about his struggles during a season 5 episode of “RHOSLC.” During their conversation, both Robert and Mary broke down in tears when he admitted he was using drugs such as “Xanax” to help add “seasoning to [my life].”

After some time, though, the drugs Robert began using intensified.

“Then, I started doing Xanax with Acid, and then Molly with Xanax,” he told Mary. “I really like Xanax, so I mix it with everything. Xanax and cocaine. You know the regular 30mg Oxys? Mary Cosby’s Son Was Released From Jail Shortly Before His Death After Reportedly Violating A Protective Order

Robert’s death comes weeks after he was released from a Utah jail after reportedly violating a protective order between him and his ex-wife. During the “RHOSLC” season 6 reunion, Mary discussed Robert’s legal troubles, explaining that his run-in with the law stemmed from his unwillingness to listen.

“He went back anyway thinking that she wants him to come back and save her. I don’t know where he’s getting that from, delusional,” Mary said. “Every time he’d go back over there, they’d call the police and they’d arrest him.”

According to Page Six, Robert was taken into custody in November 2025 after allegedly getting into an altercation with his ex-wife’s father and a Salt Lake City police officer.

Robert’s lawyer, Clayton Simms, previously described his time in jail as a “blessing,” revealing it had given Robert a chance to “sober up.”

“He’s looking forward to doing positive things. The difficulty is that he was slow to recognize the dissolution of his marriage. But now he understands the relationship is over, and he’s moving forward,” Simms added.

Ridley Scott’s Ahead-of-Its-Time War Movie Returns 3 Decades After Dividing Critics

Published

on

G.I. Jane (1997)

Perhaps Ridley Scott‘s greatest impact on the landscape of cinema has been on sci-fi, with his genre-defining masterpieces Alien and Blade Runner. That’s not to dismiss what the four-time Oscar nominee has accomplished outside the genre, though. He conquered the historical epic with his classic film Gladiator and created a gripping war movie with 2001’s Black Hawk Down. His ideas aren’t always successful, but he’s consistently managed to marry large-scale, ambitious thrills with deeper themes of identity, corporate greed, and political corruption.

In 1997, Scott would apply this same approach to the Demi Moore-led war action thriller, G.I. Jane. The film tells the fictional story of Lieutenant Jordan O’Neill, a topographical analyst who is suddenly selected to be the first woman to train in a special forces program akin to the U.S. Navy SEALs. Facing extreme sexism in a gruelling program she was set up to fail, she strives under her unfairly punishing commander, John James Urgayle (Viggo Mortensen), to break her limits and shatter the expectations placed on her by the institution around her. Critics and audiences were divided about the result, and it was met with a more middling $98.4 million box office against a budget of $50 million, yet it has since gotten a bit more love by some as a flawed film that was still ahead of its time in its message. Moore herself has been a vocal defender of the story for how it challenged gender norms, telling Vanity Fair in 2024, “I think the film really holds up. I hear it a lot from people. I think that Ridley made a really thoughtful, intelligent film that really tackled the subject matter.”

Now, nearly three decades later, Peacock is giving subscribers a chance to revisit the film and judge it on its merits. G.I. Jane is due to arrive on the platform on March 1, alongside a wide range of big new additions, including Fight Club, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Beekeeper, and Friday the 13th. In addition to Moore and Mortensen, Scott’s film also featured the talents of, among others, Jason Beghe, Scott Wilson, Anne Bancroft, Morris Chestnut, and Lucinda Jenney. Riddick and The Fugitive scribe David Twohy penned the script with Danielle Alexandra, who wrote the story.

Demi Moore and Ridley Scott Will Be Back in Theaters in 2026

Moore was last seen on the big screen in 2024 with The Substance, an instant horror classic that nearly won the actress her first Oscar and powerfully tackled the pressures women face about their bodies, particularly as they grow older. After returning to Landman for Season 2 last year, though, she’ll be back in theaters in three months on May 22 with Boots Riley‘s latest film, I Love Boosters. Scott also has a busy year ahead, with his new film, The Dog Stars, led by Jacob Elordi, set to release on August 28. Adapted from Peter Heller‘s novel, the film is set in the aftermath of a deadly pandemic that has devastated humanity, as a pilot named Hig (Elordi) and his gruff marine companion (Josh Brolin) live in relative isolation, until a mysterious transmission gives them hope of finding other survivors.

G.I. Jane arrives on Peacock on March 1. Stay tuned here at Collider for more on all the biggest films coming to and leaving streaming throughout the year.
