Chiefs Reporter Reveals Patrick Mahomes Message After Dad’s Death
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes extended his sympathy to a Kansas City media member after the “unexpected” death of his father.
“Praying for your family man,” Mahomes, 30, wrote via direct message to reporter Tucker Franklin, who shared the interaction via X on Sunday, September 6. “Chiefs and chiefskingdom is with you! 🙏🏽”
In response to the DM, Franklin, 28, told his followers, “I think it’s easy to wonder if the quarterback of your favorite team is actually a good guy.”
“We don’t have to wonder about that in KC ❤️,” he added.
Tucker, who covers the Chiefs for KC Sports Network, announced the death of his father, Doug, on August 31. He was 55.
“My dad, Doug Franklin, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away,” Tucker shared via X. “He was a great father, phenomenal husband, and an amazing man. The only thing he loved more than the Kansas City Royals was his family. He will be greatly missed.”
The journalist added, “It’s easy in times like these to be upset by all the things you didn’t get to experience. I’m crushed and devastated. Life is not fair but in these unfair moments, I’m choosing to be thankful for the 28 years I had with a man I was honored to call my father. Though, it should’ve been more. Thank you, Dad.”
Tucker was responsible for authoring his late father’s obituary, which he called “the hardest writing assignment of my life.”
“He was an advocate for teachers, having served on the Trenton R-IX School Board for six years, including the last three as president,” Tucker wrote about his dad. “On top of that, Doug worked as an adjunct professor for North Central Missouri College, teaching world religion and fire science.”
The obituary added, “He loved doing life together. He believed the church was the people. He gathered to camp, sit down at a table, and celebrate regardless of any inconvenience to himself. He showed up for people. He was not perfect and wasn’t afraid of it. His selfless nature was evident to everyone he came across.”
Tucker said he was “blown away by all the responses” after revealing his father’s death.
“I can never thank each and every one of you for reaching out, no matter our relationship,” he shared via X on September 1. “I’m overwhelmed. Thank you ❤️.”
Tucker returned to work on Monday, September 7, cohosting KC Sports Network’s “That Football Show,” which opened with a message about his late dad.
“In these times, it’s good to be together,” he said. “It’s great to see all the support … that I have had, that my family has had, from people that I’ve never met.”
Tucker continued, “That’s been really touching, really moving. I just want to say thank you.”

5 Artists Who Need to Sing the Next James Bond Theme Song
Each film in the James Bond franchise is encouraged to meet certain criteria: unique and thrilling action sequences; a diabolical, over-the-top villain; and a dramatic theme song. From Paul McCartney to Billie Eilish, artists across time and genre have contributed their musical talents to the iconic spy franchise. The results have resonated with audiences, music charts, and award ceremonies alike, with the past three Bond themes even winning the Oscar for Best Original Song. Moviegoers and listeners certainly have opinions on how the themes compare to one another, but whether good or bad, a James Bond film is simply incomplete without its own musical flourish.
The next James Bond film is still currently in development as the search for Daniel Craig’s successor continues, but finding an artist to sing the next theme song may not be as difficult. Rap, country, and pop dominate the current charts, but the modern music scene is more diverse than ever before and boasts many gifted singers and musicians who are more than capable of delivering the next “Skyfall” or “Goldfinger.” No matter which direction Bond 26 decides to go in for its music, this list covers 5 artists who would be ideal candidates to sing the next Bond theme.
5
1. RAYE
The force behind the global hit “Where is My Husband!,” RAYE has been writing and singing for over ten years, producing two solo studio albums and collaborations with artists like Beyoncé and Charli XCX. While touring with Bruno Mars in 2026, RAYE displayed her love of vintage imagery and sound, invoking old Hollywood—and inadvertently the classic James Bond films—through her costumes and her back-up band of live brass instruments. Her musical style combines elements of jazz, pop, and other genres, aligning with the styles of previous Bond themes, and her lyrics cover a variety of experiences and emotions, much like how the Bond movies range in their premise and tone from silly to serious. Add in the fact that she has actually performed a Bond theme before when she sang “Skyfall” in the James Bond medley at the 2025 Academy Awards, and RAYE seems almost overqualified to perform the next 007 anthem.

2. Lana del Rey
Lana del Rey is no stranger to singing for film and television, contributing to the soundtracks for season 2 of Euphoria, The Great Gatsby (2013), and Maleficent, among others. She’s also no stranger to James Bond, as she submitted a song for consideration as the theme for the 24th official Bond film, Spectre (2015). Although her track was ultimately rejected in favor of Sam Smith’s “Writing’s On the Wall”, del Rey collaborated with James Bond composer David Arnold in 2026 to produce the theme song for the James Bond video game 007 First Light. The result is a track of much higher quality than one might expect for a video game tie-in song, filled with orchestration and lilting vocals that perfectly fit the atmosphere not just of the game, but the overall James Bond franchise. If del Rey can deliver such a cinematic showing for a Bond video game, then her talents clearly deserve to be showcased in an actual Bond film. If that wasn’t evidence enough of her credibility, del Rey’s mysterious and moody sound has literally been described by some as a modern-day Nancy Sinatra, who sang “You Only Live Twice” for the 1962 Bond movie of the same name. Between her current personal success singing for films and Bond-related media, and the correlation to a performer of a past theme song, Lana del Rey is overdue for a chance to sing for the iconic spy on the silver screen.
3
3. Rosalía
Considering the next Bond film will feature a new actor in the role, it could be time for the music to see a similar shake-up, and the Spanish artist Rosalía would undoubtedly bring a unique take to the franchise. James Bond may be an international spy, but the artists behind his theme songs have almost exclusively been from the United States and the United Kingdom, and every song has been sung in English. Rosalía, meanwhile, can sing in English as well as her native Spanish and even took the time to learn lyrics in eleven languages for her latest album Lux, bringing a worldly and widespread appeal to every piece of her music that Bond could benefit from. Rosalía also loves to genre bend, exploring opera to orchestra to reggaeton to flamenco, ensuring that she can adapt to whatever tone the next Bond film will have, and that her theme will be unlike anything else. With a flair for the dramatic and an unbelievable vocal ability, she would create a one-of-a-kind James Bond song—and considering her appreciation for striking visuals, a one-of-a-kind credit sequence as well.
2
4. Jurnee Smollett
Jurnee Smollett may be best known for her work as an actress in television classics like True Blood and Friday Night Lights, but she is also a gifted singer. Her talent has been displayed on screen several times, including in her Emmy-nominated performance in Lovecraft County, and most notably through her portrayal of DC Comics’ superhero Black Canary in Birds of Prey (2020) alongside Margot Robbie. Black Canary is best known for her powerful scream, capable of destroying objects and deafening people nearby, and Smollett is very convincing in the role through both her acting and her singing. In her introductory scene, Black Canary sings a cover of “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” in a nightclub, and her performance goes on an emotional journey from sadness to anger to righteous rebellion. Whether you’re watching it unfold on screen or just listening to the audio, the performance is poignant enough to believe that Smollett might have a similar superpower in real life. Not only does Smollett have the musicality to pull off the vocal and emotional demands of a Bond theme, but she also has the skills as an actress to possibly hold a dual role and play a Bond girl, too.
1
5. Laufey
Icelandic singer Laufey (pronounced by English speakers as “lay-vay”) has become a breakout star in the American music scene over the past few years thanks to a honeyed voice that stands out amongst her peers. Laufey’s unique register and tender instrumentals mimic mid-19th-century jazz and pop, invoking the sound of artists like Ella Fitzgerald, while her lyrics discuss her personal experiences with love and life in the 21st-century world. This blending of the old and the new in a beautiful package is what gives her so much potential as the next singer of a James Bond theme song. Part of the franchise’s durability and legacy rests on the presence of both vintage and modern elements across the films—sometimes within a single film—and the franchise’s best music is similarly both familiar and new. The simultaneous antiquity and timelessness of Laufey’s music means that her Bond theme song would never go out of style; it would sound like something that could fit for Sean Connery’s Bond, Daniel Craig’s Bond, and the next Bond, whomever he may be.

Nathan James’ Father Bill McGinley’s Cause of Death Revealed
The cause of death for Nathan James’ father, Bill McGinley, has been revealed.
According to an autopsy report obtained by Us on Monday, August 24, McGinley’s official cause of death is atherosclerotic and valvular heart disease. The manner of death was ruled natural.
Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease is caused by plaque buildup in the arterial walls of the heart, per the American Heart Association.
James revealed last month that his father was missing after he did not return from his “normal bike ride” in Louisville, Colorado.
According to the Boulder County Coroner’s record, his father (referred to as William in the report) “was discovered on his bike in the Coyote Run Open Space” located in Louisville, Colorado “after he was last known alive between 8:30 and 8:45 a.m.” on July 29.
“The cops have started an on-foot search & investigation,” the musician wrote via Instagram on July 29 alongside several photos of him and his father. “The bike he was riding was a specialized, white gravel. He was wearing a white helmet, white shoes, black tights and a blue cycling jersey. He was riding on a 36th bike path, Davidson Mesa near Harper Lake and roads to take him back home to his house near Waneka Lake in Lafayette.”
James shared that he and his father are very close and communicated frequently prior to his apparent disappearance.
“I talk to him on the phone 2-3 times a day, ever since I’ve had a phone,” he continued. “Please if you have the ability to look and are in the area, please help me find my dad. He means the world to me.”
Two days later, James revealed that his father was found dead. He was 72.
“The police found him earlier this afternoon today and he is no longer with us,” he said in an Instagram video on July 31. “R.I.P. to my dad. He was my best friend. I love him. I have been an emotional roller coaster ride like none other that I’ve ever been through.”
James continued, “This has been the most mental mind f**k thing ever of, ‘Your dad is missing,’ and then you find him, and you find him and then he’s no longer with us,” he added. “It’s a different level of f**k with your head.”
The rock star added he was grateful to everyone who was there for him while he father was missing. He also encouraged everyone to make the most out of the time they have left with their loved ones.
“Don’t forget to tell the people you love that you f**k with them and you respect them and you wanna see them do well and you understand them and you’re there for them,” the rock star reflected. “My dad has gone home upstairs, and I love you dad.”

Taylor Swift Says ‘Tim McGraw’ Song Predicted Her Life
Taylor Swift looked back on the way her 2006 debut single, “Tim McGraw,” predicted her life now following her wedding to Travis Kelce.
“If I look back at the song ‘Tim McGraw,’ there are actually sort of hints at everything that was going to happen in the next 20 years,” Swift, 36, revealed in The Icon Sessions with Taylor Swift: A 20-Year Retrospective, released on Monday, August 24.
The track — which was the lead single from Swift’s self-titled first album — tells the bittersweet story of a summer romance, where the narrator asks her ex-boyfriend to think of her whenever he hears country music legend Tim McGraw’s music.
Swift reflected on the opening verse, where she sang, “He said the way my blue eyes shined / Put those Georgia stars to shame that night.”

“I had never been to Georgia,” she joked. “That was not real. That had not happened. But, as you are working around ‘character’ and what feels like what this character would have said. What paints a picture that informs a story that we just locked into because that first line describes so much for us.”
Swift also felt that “Tim McGraw” exemplified her preferred songwriting style where “a song [exists] as a message.”
“It’s a song that jumps forward in time,” she pointed out. “Even in jumping forward in time, it’s saying, ‘I hope you reflect back in time.’ It’s a sort of time machine song.”
While Swift has explored many musical genres throughout her career, “Tim McGraw” was a hallmark of country music’s influence on her early career.
“I love my country roots more and more the farther along this path I get,” she said. “I want to honor them more and more. I feel more and more tied to them, more loyal to them. The people who shaped who I am as an artist and a writer, that all happened in Nashville.”
“Tim McGraw” ultimately reached #6 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 2006 and won “Breakthrough Video of the Year” at the 2007 CMT Music Awards.
In the 20 years since the release of “Tim McGraw,” Swift has gone on to sell around 250 million albums worldwide and won 14 Grammy Awards.
Her most recent studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, spent a total of 12 consecutive weeks topping the Billboard 200 chart following its release in October 2025.
Some fans suspect that Swift has already started dropping hints about a follow-up to The Life of a Showgirl — which is sure to be a momentous project since it would be her 13th studio album. (Swift has long considered 13 to be a meaningful number in her life, as she was born on December 13, 1999, and it took only 13 weeks for her debut album to go gold, among other symbolic moments.)

Below Deck’s Captain Sandy Warns Max of ‘Danger’ Amid Dad Issues
Below Deck Mediterranean’s Captain Sandy Yawn tried to interject when Max Salvador considered helping his father flee from Africa.
During the Monday, August 24, episode of the hit Bravo show, Max received a call from his father, who he previously said kicked him out as a teenager. The deckhand was able to get in touch with his dad after years of estrangement.
“My father called me [because] he is in deep s***. Really urgent,” Max told the cameras. “He had been enrolled in a criminal organization of laundering money.”
Max told Captain Sandy he was thinking of leaving the charter season early.
“My father is now in Tunisia and some criminal organization has arrived to receive a check, put it on his bank account and redraw the money,” he explained. “He was doing it to make extra money and now the bank saw the fraud so they closed the bank account and he can’t give the money to the guys.”
Max continued: “He can’t even leave the country because he doesn’t have enough money. Now I am going to go to Tunisia to get him out of the country.”
The captain suggested that Max “call the French embassy” instead. As the episode came to an end, Max explained why he was in a rush to help his dad.

“I want to do what my father didn’t do for me,” he said. “I will send an act of love to my father even after everything he did. I will not let him go. Tomorrow I will take my father and take him straight to Libya.”
Max’s idea didn’t sound good to Captain Sandy. Before a “To Be Continued” message appeared on screen, Sandy urged Max not to get caught up in his father’s issues.
“You are going to go right in the middle of danger?” she asked. “Libya has a warning, ‘Do not travel for any reason due to crime and terrorism.’ That is your border. I am not going to sugarcoat anything, Max. I am going to tell you this, doing what you are doing is not smart. Now you are going to risk your life?”
Max returned to the franchise earlier this year after he previously worked with Captain Sandy. He quickly found himself caught in some drama when Nathan Gallagher surprised Max by asking him to secretly side with him instead of Joe Bradley amid their feud.
In an August episode, Max joined the crew while Nathan was healing from a back injury. Max ultimately started working under Joe, who was temporarily the new boson. Nathan’s absence paved the way for Joe to make moves as bosun — with Max supporting him potential move up.
At the end of the episode, Max received a text from Nathan, which read, “I’m sure Joe’s been in your ear. I’m gonna get back to the boat at some point, and I need you.”
He continued: “Have my back and I’ll for sure make you lead deckhand. Swear.”
Max was left conflicted since Nathan previously passed him over for a lead deckhand position. Joe, meanwhile, also promised Max that he would promote him in the event that Nathan didn’t take back his role as bosun this season.
Below Deck Med airs on Bravo Mondays at 8 p.m. ET. New episodes stream the next day on Peacock.

Brandon Clarke’s Autopsy Found Additional Drugs in System
Brandon Clarke‘s autopsy results revealed additional information about the athlete’s sudden death at age 29.
According to a report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office and obtained by Us on Monday, August 24, “combined effects of multiple prescription medications” was listed as “other significant conditions” that led to Clarke’s death.
The toxicology results revealed heroin, cocaine, morphine and “multiple prescription medications” were found in the NBA player’s system at the time of his death. The additional medications were listed as oxycodone, metabolite, oxymorphone, O-desmethylvenlafaxine, norchlorcyclizine, alprazolam, mitragynine, pregabalin, meprobamate and carisoprodol, per the report.
The medical examiner stated that Clarke’s roommate — who was not named — reported that the Memphis Grizzlies power forward had an alleged history of drug abuse and made multiple rehabilitation attempts. On the day of Clarke’s death, the athlete’s agent allegedly called the roommate to check on Clarke because they could not contact him. The roommate found Clarke unresponsive in his bed and called 911.
Vape pens, cannabis products, prescription meds, syringes, a box of Narcan and additional drug paraphernalia were all found in Clarke’s room and bathroom at the time of his death. A plate of an unknown white substance and hotel key card were also found on the kitchen island of the residence.
Clarke died on May 11. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to an emergency call from a home in the San Fernando Valley shortly after 5 p.m. local time. Emergency services pronounced Clarke dead at the scene.
Earlier this month, the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner announced that Clarke died from “the effects of heroin and cocaine.” His death was ruled accidental.
One month before his death, Clarke was charged with speeding and possession of a controlled substance after he led police on a high-speed chase in Arkansas in April.
Clarke was best known for playing all seven of his NBA seasons with the Grizzlies. He made a strong impression during his first-year as he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2020. Last season, Clarke suffered an injury that had him sidelined for all but two games.
After news broke of his death, the team paid tribute to Clarke.
“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke,” the Grizzlies said in a May statement shared via social media. “Brandon was an outstanding teammate and an even better person whose impact on the organization and the greater Memphis community will not be forgotten. We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Todd Bridges Recalls Nancy Reagan on ‘Diff’rent Strokes’
Todd Bridges was one of the stars of the classic ABC sitcom “Diff’rent Strokes,” which ran for eight seasons. Recently, while promoting his new horror film, “Skate to Hell,” he opened up about his experience on the show. Notably, he recalled former First Lady Nancy Reagan visiting the set and the mayhem the high-profile appearance caused.

Reagan appeared on “Diff’rent Strokes” during its fifth season in order to promote her anti-drug campaign, “Just Say No,” for an episode titled “The Reporter.” However, due to heightened security, including Secret Service presence, the actors on the show were under more intense pressure than they typically experienced.
Bridges was featured on an August 2026 episode of the “Taboo’s Comics & Kicks” podcast and detailed the behind-the-scenes drama of the episode. He recalled, “Nancy Reagan was on the show, but the president [Ronald Reagan] came in the audience, and the audience was all Secret Service. It was the biggest, craziest nightmare ever. It was terrible.”
After that, Bridges stated that Universal Studios, where they filmed the show, was sealed off for Reagan’s appearance, including the airspace.
Todd Bridges Opened Up About The Security Needed For The High Profile Appearance

Bridges continued his interview by delving further into the use of security, noting that he “learned a lot” about the Secret Service’s operations.
He explained, “One of the guys showed me in his trunk; they had surface-to-air missiles in there and stuff. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ It was a no-fly zone. If they came close, they’d shoot you out [of] the sky.” After that, he discussed the measures taken for the actors and crew who were stationed inside the studio.
According to the actor, “Man, it was crazy. You got scanned when you came close, you got scanned again, then they would scan you again, and then scan you again before you actually got in the door. It was a nightmare. We couldn’t wait till she left.”
Todd Bridges Opened Up About Nancy Reagan’s ‘Just Say No’ Campaign Aided In His Personal Life

Bridges interviewed with The Hollywood Reporter in 2016 and opened up about the time the former First Lady appeared on the classic ABC Sitcom. In describing the behind-the-scenes chaos, Bridges stated, “The audience held about 300 people in total. We didn’t know exactly how many of them were Secret Service, but it was a lot of them. Tons of them. They had guys on the roof. They had guys everywhere, man.”
He then said, “They were dressed just like normal people. The way I knew they weren’t our regular audience is that [the cast’s] jokes they weren’t laughing at, but when Nancy Reagan made a joke, they laughed at everything she said.”
After that, Bridges revealed that he’d retained Reagan’s “Just Say No” message and that it came into play during his later battle with drug use and addiction. The “Diff’rent Strokes” alum stated, “At my lowest point, I started remembering what she was talking about and the reason why the stuff was so bad. Once you figure out the root cause — what makes you do something [self-destructive] — you figure out how to stop.”
He added, “It’s really all about you when it comes down to it. You can’t blame anybody else. You can’t put it on whatever environment you grew up in. You have to quit blaming and put the responsibility on yourself to get off of it.”

Bridges made an appearance at the Fanboy Expo Knowville in early 2026. While there, he opened up about his relationship with his former “Diff’rent Strokes” costar Gary Coleman, who passed away in 2010. Notably, he shared that they’d reconciled before Coleman’s death after years of not speaking.
Per PEOPLE, the actor said, “The first three years [of Diff’rent Strokes] we were all very close, and then Gary’s parents came and changed a lot of stuff.”
He then shared about their reconciliation, “I’ll tell you a funny story. I hadn’t seen Gary in years or talked to him in years. I’m about to get on a plane, and somebody says, ‘Hey, man, your little brother’s here.’ I’m like, ‘I ain’t got no other brother; what are you talking about?’ He was like, ‘Your little brother’s here.’ I go, ‘Dude, I have no idea…’ He goes, ‘Gary Coleman.’”
Bridges stated that they were seated next to one another on the plane and that they spoke for the duration of the flight.
Todd’s New Movie Was Released In 2026

Bridges remains active in Hollywood decades after starring in “Diff’rent Strokes.” One of his latest projects, “Skate to Hell,” had its Las Vegas premiere in January 2026 after securing over $55,000 for its production from crowdfunding, which began in 2024.
The movie was then released on DVD in March 2026 before going to digital platforms in April.

Jessica Alba Swapped Sneakers for This Elevated Shoe Trend

Jessica Alba just reminded me how much power the right pair of shoes can have. I’m usually tempted to throw sneakers on with jeans and call it a day, but her latest outfit has me reconsidering that habit. Alba swapped sneakers for kitten heels, making her outfit read more polished, expensive and ready for a night out.
Alba was spotted in Beverly Hills wearing light-wash jeans with a relaxed gray off-the-shoulder top, a black Fendi Baguette bag and $585 silver Tresse Paris sandals. The shiny heels took her laid-back denim look straight into dinner-date territory without changing anything else about the outfit. Naturally, I searched for a similar style and found a strappy silver pair on Amazon for just $46.
Get the SLXCHBSL Slip-on Kitten Heels for $46 (was $50) at Amazon! Please note, prices are accurate as of the publishing date but are subject to change.
The Slip-On Kitten Heels combine a square toe, metallic finish and knotted straps for a look that feels far more expensive than its under-$50 price tag. I’m especially into the slim 2.75-inch heel, which adds just enough height without going into the uncomfy, sky-high stiletto territory.
Alba’s silver color choice is surprisingly versatile. I’m thinking of it almost like jewelry for my feet: The metallic finish perks up basic denim and a tee, complements an all-black date-night outfit or gives a simple wedding guest dress some extra sparkle. The slip-on, strappy silhouette also feels light enough to wear through the final weeks of summer before closed-toe shoes take over.
One Amazon reviewer called the heels “very comfortable,” adding, “had no problems wearing them for long hours.” Another buyer loved the “chic strappy design,” noting that the front knot adds “a really stylish detail for parties or holidays.”
Alba’s outfit is making me rethink the sneakers with jeans combo. Her silver kitten heels did all the styling work, instantly making her casual basics feel more polished without changing the entire outfit. Whether I’m heading to dinner, drinks or a late-summer wedding, I’m grabbing this $46 Amazon pair as an easy shortcut for giving my everyday outfits the same elevated finish.
