Before the Scrubs revival was announced by the trades in 2024, fans of the original series had already experienced their own kind of reunion. Zach Braff and Donald Faison had spent years revisiting the show together through their rewatch podcast, Fake Doctors, Real Friends, bringing J.D. and Turk’s friendship back to life in a very different format. Speaking to Collider ahead of the Scrubs Season 2 revival, Braff and Faison exclusively revealed that the podcast will be returning, with the pair currently in “final negotiations” to bring it into a studio setting.

The new era of Fake Doctors, Real Friends will focus on episodes from Season 1 and Season 2 of the revival, giving the podcast an opportunity to explore the show’s new generation alongside its returning stars. For a podcast that began with Faison recording largely from his closet during lockdown, Fake Doctors, Real Friends has come a remarkably long way. More importantly, it helped set in motion a chain of events that would ultimately bring the original cast back together for a brand-new series.

Milania Giudice is receiving professional support after a troubling video of a tense exchange with her mom, Teresa Giudice, emerged earlier this week.

“She is currently surrounded by people who love her and is under the care of professionals who are working with her and her family,” the Real Housewives of New Jersey star’s representative, Marina DeSantis, told TMZ in a statement on Thursday, September 24.

DeSantis continued, “Milania is deeply loved by her family and friends, and all of us are doing everything we can to support her as she navigates an incredibly difficult time in her life, particularly following the devastating loss of her best friend, Victoria [Zardoya].”

“Milania is a good-hearted and caring young woman who has been going through a very challenging period, and our focus right now is simply on her health, healing and well-being,” the statement went on. “In time, she hopes that being open about her experiences may help other young people facing their own struggles, but for now, we ask for compassion and privacy as she and her family continue to navigate this together.”

Milania, 20, was filmed in what appeared to be a tense exchange with her mom, Teresa, 54, and sister Gia, 25, at Tampa International Airport on Wednesday, September 23. According to TMZ, Milania posted the video to her Instagram account but quickly deleted it.

Earlier this year, the Milania mourned the death of her best friend, Victoria, who died at age 20 in July after suffering a fatal fall.

Milania grieved her friend’s death in an emotional Instagram post in August, writing, ““Every Chapter Has Your Name In It 🤍🕊️. My Victoria. My best friend. My sister. My soulmate. My partner in crime. There are no words in any language that could ever describe losing you.”

“I still wait for your name to pop up on my phone, I still expect to hear your laugh, and I still catch myself wanting to tell you something,” she added. “My heart keeps forgetting what my mind already knows, but one thing I know for sure is that every chapter of my life has your name in it.”

As well as Milania and Gia, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa shares daughters Gabriella, 21, and Audriana, 17, with ex-husband Joe Giudice.

In May, Milania was arrested over an alleged domestic violence incident at her mother’s home in Montville Township, New Jersey. She pleaded not guilty to simple assault and purposely/knowingly causing bodily injury.

According to an arrest report obtained by Us, Milania’s sister Gabriella called police on May 14 to report that Milania was “acting erratically” and “throwing food [and] candles.”

Four of these six are based on real events, actual court cases, disasters, people who had to live through what’s on screen, and that adds a kind of pressure most fiction never really has to deal with. Get it wrong and you’re not just making bad television, you’re distorting someone’s actual life or death.

All six handled that pressure carefully, no matter if the story was true or not. Nothing here rushes toward a tidy ending just because six or eight episodes were the contract, and that patience is exactly what makes the word “perfect” fit. These miniseries were loved and cherished for years, and for all the right reasons.

‘The Night Of’ (2016)

James Gandolfini was originally set to play the scruffy, eczema-covered lawyer defending Naz (Riz Ahmed), and the role passed to John Turturro only after Gandolfini passed away before filming began. The show is loosely reworked from a British series called Criminal Justice, though the American version slows everything down and stretches the story out much further. The entire first episode covers just one night, the night of the murder itself, and it takes the full hour before anyone even gets arrested.

Turturro’s makeup for the character’s eczema took hours to apply every single shooting day, and the show treats that physical detail as seriously as any plot point, a small, constant reminder of how exhausted this lawyer actually is. Naz ends up adopting a stray cat while inside Rikers, and that relationship becomes one of the clearest signs of how much prison has already changed him by the time the trial starts. The show never confirms whether Naz actually committed the murder, and that is kind of the best part.

‘I May Destroy You’ (2020)

Michaela Coel reportedly turned down a seven-figure deal from Netflix specifically because the offer would’ve taken away her ownership of the show, and she took a smaller deal with BBC and HBO just to keep creative control. The show has Arabella (Coel) piecing her memory of the assault back together in fragments across the season, revealing those fragments out of order, matching how trauma actually resurfaces.

Terry (Weruche Opia) and Kwame (Paapa Essiedu), on the other hand, each go through their own separate experiences. The show also explores a condom removal scene and a confusing same-sex encounter as their own forms of violation, expanding what the whole series is actually about. Coel cast mostly unknown actors, which keeps the whole thing looking like something genuinely lived in. In the end, the show plays out several different imagined confrontations with Arabella’s attacker so you have different versions of how it ends.

‘Unbelievable’ (2019)

This is based on a Pulitzer Prize-winning piece of journalism, “An Unbelievable Story of Rape,” co-written by T. Christian Miller and Ken Armstrong after years of actual reporting. Marie (Kaitlyn Dever), based on a real survivor whose name was changed for her protection, gets pressured by police into recanting her own report and then charged for filing a false one. The show deliberately avoids showing her assault in any graphic detail, choosing to focus almost entirely on how she gets treated afterward.

Detective Duvall (Merritt Wever) and Detective Rasmussen (Toni Collette) pick up a similar case years later in a different state, and their careful, patient interviewing style gets shown in direct contrast to how badly Marie’s original case was handled. The real detectives who worked the actual case consulted on the show, which explains how procedurally accurate the investigation scenes actually are.

‘When They See Us’ (2019)

Donald Trump took out full-page newspaper ads in 1989 calling for the death penalty against the five teenagers at the center of this case, and the show includes those actual ads as part of the historical record it’s working from. The real men, now known as the Exonerated Five, served as consultants on the project. Ava DuVernay funded much of the project through Netflix after other studios passed on it, unwilling to take on a story this politically direct.

The show splits into four distinct chapters, the arrest, the trial, the years actually spent in prison, and life after release, giving each stage its own story. Jharrel Jerome plays Korey at every age from sixteen through adulthood, since Korey was the only one tried and sentenced as an adult, and that single performance does more heavy lifting than almost anything else in the series. The show doesn’t soften what happened to any of them after their release either, and it makes sure you feel every single emotion of what was actually taken from them.

‘The Queen’s Gambit’ (2020)

Former world chess champion Garry Kasparov helped design every match shown in this series, making sure each game followed real, legitimate chess strategy. Chess consultant Bruce Pandolfini, who also advised on the original 1983 novel the show is based on, worked directly with Anya Taylor-Joy to help her memorize actual board positions and notation. The novel’s author, Walter Tevis, also wrote The Hustler and The Man Who Fell to Earth, and all three stories share a similar fascination with obsessive, self-destructive genius.

Despite becoming one of the most-watched limited series Netflix had ever released at the time, the creators never developed a second season, treating the story as complete exactly as written. Beth’s addiction is treated with complexity throughout, and it does not ever become the show’s only point, which is rarer in stories about genius than it probably should be. The costume and set design track her growing confidence almost as closely as her chess record does, getting sharper and more controlled with every match she wins.

‘Chernobyl’ (2019)

People reportedly gathered on a nearby railway bridge to watch the reactor burn the night of the actual disaster, drawn by the strange blue glow in the sky, and most of them are believed to have died from radiation exposure in the years after. The show was filmed largely inside a real decommissioned Soviet nuclear plant in Lithuania, built to the same design specifications as the actual Chernobyl reactor, which gives every hallway and control room a disturbing sense of accuracy.

The sound design team used recordings pulled from actual Geiger counters throughout the show, as they layer that specific crackle under scenes where the danger isn’t visible on screen at all. Each episode ends with a short written epilogue explaining what really happened to the people involved, and the true final death toll from the disaster is still disputed by scientists and historians today. Craig Mazin researched the disaster for years before writing a single line of the script, and that depth of research shows just how specific and procedural the entire series is.

Billie Lourd is sharing how her late grandmother Debbie Reynolds felt about one of Hollywood’s most infamous affairs — her then husband Eddie Fisher cheating on her with Elizabeth Taylor.

In an interview with The Times published on Saturday, September 19, Lourd, 34, said Reynolds didn’t shy away from discussing the situation.

“That was one of my grandma’s favorite bedtime stories,” Billie told the outlet. “Like, ‘You know, dear, we used to have a house in Palm Springs. But then there was the divorce from Eddie…’”

Reynolds and Fisher, who were married from 1955 to 1959, were a Hollywood golden couple and shared two children: daughter Carrie Fisher (Lourd’s late mom) and son Todd Fisher.

When Todd died in a plane crash in March 1958, Fisher embarked on an affair with Taylor — destroying his marriage to Reynolds in one of the biggest Hollywood scandals.

When asked about the affair by one of the era’s gossip columnists, Hedda Hopper, Taylor reportedly defended her action by quipping, “What do you expect me to do, sleep alone?”

In 1988, Reynolds reflected on her marriage and the highly publicized infidelity during an interview with ET.

“We, at that point in our marriage, were happily married. We had a wonderful son and daughter,” the Singin’ in the Rain star said. “But, obviously, I was incorrect about that, you know? Again, that was my viewpoint. I was happy, I was in love, but obviously he was not.”

Reynolds continued, “[Eddie]’s like a good race horse: he gets off really, really good, and then he loses the race.”

The actress also recalled how many people in her social circle appeared to know about the affair before she did.

“We were all the best of friends, so there’s nothing wrong with that. So, to my mind, there was nothing wrong with that,” she said. “Then, I went to a party — a dinner party — and everyone was sort of whispering, like, ‘Does she know…’ And I wanted to know what they were whispering about, but nobody would tell me what they were whispering about, so I figured it was about me. So, then I put two and two together, because I could hear that certain [words], ‘Eddie’ and ‘Elizabeth’ and such.”

Reynolds and Fisher ultimately divorced on May 12, 1959 following the scandal. Fisher and Taylor married the same day — just three hours after Reynolds and Fisher’s divorce was finalized. Taylor and Fisher later divorced in March 1964.

In the interview with The Times, Lourd also shared her appreciation for her late grandmother and mom, who died one day apart in 2016 at 84 and 60, respectively.

“They really were two of the most talented women of all time and I feel so lucky to live under their glittery umbrellas,” she told the outlet. “For a while I tried to hide from it but now I say it loud and proud — I’m Carrie Fisher’s daughter and I’m Debbie Reynolds’s granddaughter, and I feel so lucky to be able to say that.”

While Ghosts Season 6 is still a month away, showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman are about to deliver their second supernatural sitcom for CBS. The new series, titled Eternally Yours, will premiere on October 8 in Ghosts’ usual Thursday night slot after the Young Sheldon spin-off Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage. Though it continues to be baffling that CBS isn’t pairing the series with its spooky older sister, after seeing the first episode, it’s clear Port and Wiseman haven’t lost their touch.

Eternally Yours actually serves as a bit of a full-circle moment for the showrunner duo. Port and Wiseman initially pitched the vampire series to CBS over 10 years ago, and while the network chose not to move forward with it at the time, that pitch made them the perfect team to bring the U.S. adaptation of Ghosts to life. Flash forward a decade: Ghosts is officially the most-watched sitcom in America, and its immense success on CBS has allowed Port and Wiseman to unearth their 11-year-old pilot and expand their hauntingly hilarious world.

What Is ‘Eternally Yours’ About?

Eternally Yours is an ensemble comedy anchored by a central couple and the eccentric group of undead weirdos they’ve turned into their own little family. At the heart of the series are Charles (Ed Weeks) and Liz (Allegra Edwards), a pair of vampires whose marriage has gone cold after 500 years together. A flashback to when Charles and Liz first fell in love provides a stark contrast to their dull and lifeless marriage five centuries later. Weeks and Edwards have great chemistry; rooting for them to remember why they fell in love in the first place is just as much fun as it is to watch them bicker. Weeks brings years of sitcom experience to the table from his time on The Mindy Project. He relishes his lines and spits them out with all the captivating intensity of an actual vampire. Meanwhile, Edwards also has an impressive sitcom resume, with her time on Upload and her guest role on Ghosts making her a perfect fit for Eternally Yours. She carries Liz with an excellent balance of regality and complete silliness that makes her very fun to watch.

While Eternally Yours states vampires can’t have children with each other, the series also introduces Charles and Liz’s adopted daughter Emma (Helen J. Shen). It’s Emma’s love life that provides the impetus for the inciting incident of the series as, after a century of dating other vampires (and possibly more supernatural beings), Emma finds herself falling for someone her parents will absolutely not approve of: a human. Enter Max (Jaren Lewison), your classic Nice Guy — in a Pete Martino from Ghosts way, rather than a Bear from Obsession way. Max is exceedingly earnest; he genuinely cares about Emma in a way that makes it clear why she’s so protective of their relationship. Max serves as a good everyman for the audience’s entry point into this world, and even acts as its narrator at the beginning and end of the episode.

When their coven’s vampire nature puts the whole family on a collision course with Max, Emma must come clean and reveal her human boyfriend to her parents. Liz and Emma have an excellent mother-daughter dynamic that exemplifies the love at the heart of this weird little family. When Liz sees the beginnings of her own relationship with Charles in the relationship Emma has with Max, it opens the door up for both of these love stories to unfold alongside each other over the course of the season. The chemistry between Max and Emma is much more wholesome and sweet when compared to Charles and Liz’s lust and loathing, giving the show a solid balance between its main couples.

‘Eternally Yours’ Bites off Slightly More Than It Can Chew

Somewhere in the middle of those two relationships lies the show’s third couple, and the other family filling out their coven. Commitment-phobe (or commitment-holic, depending on how you look at it) vampire Jesse (Parker Young) has a habit of marrying human women and simply keeping his true nature hidden from them until they croak. The only problem? Humans are living longer than ever, creating a visually apparent age gap between the eternally mid-thirties gym bro and his blushing bride Phyllis (Rose Abdoo) as she ages naturally into her 60s. While this relationship certainly has the potential to be one of the show’s most compelling if Port and Wiseman play their cards right, it currently has one big hang-up that can only go on for so long — both within the universe and the writing itself.

Among the vampire powers introduced in the pilot, one of Jesse’s gives him a true get out of jail free card: he has the ability to alter human memories, and unfortunately he’s been using this trick on his wife for decades. While the bit is played for laughs in the pilot, it’s one that will get old very quickly and limit what Abdoo can do with her character if it persists throughout the series. Jesse and Phyllis also have two half-vampire sons who fit into the classic nerd/cool guy archetypes. Though they’re the least developed duo of the bunch, Mort (Tristan Michael Brown) and Henry (Shylo Molona) round out the coven with some solid comedic potential.

‘Eternally Yours’ Is a Delicious Companion Series to ‘Ghosts’

Beyond its coven of couples, Eternally Yours is unafraid to poke a little fun at itself — and the genre it occupies — with everything from jokes about the accuracy of Twilight to which vampire tropes are real and which ones are insulting stereotypes. The series is much less absurdist than What We Do In The Shadows, but this may also serve as a double-edged sword and turn off audiences who find these modern-day bloodsuckers a little too tame when compared to their genre compatriots.

The pilot episode spends a not insignificant amount of time explaining certain vampire rules, like the fact that divorce is illegal — a rule enforced by the threat of a vampire council arriving to personally drive a stake through the hearts of any undead couple wishing for a way out. While this explains why Charles and Liz are still together, when combined with a handful of other instances, it makes some of the dialogue feel very exposition-heavy and over-explained. Certain moments are a bit stiff and unnatural when characters explain things to each other that they both already know. This isn’t an uncommon issue for pilot episodes, which carry the uphill battle of establishing a universe. One other minor drawback for the series is that the full ensemble doesn’t quite gel together as swiftly as Ghosts did; however, each of the duos sing well enough that the rest of those dynamics should follow easily with more episodes.

Beyond these brief awkward moments, the show delivers consistent laughs in the same way audiences have come to expect from Ghosts over the years. From the central home’s rich set design to several familiar faces filling out the cast, Ghosts fans will feel right at home with Eternally Yours. The series even employs similar flashbacks into the very long lives of its main characters for more lush and elaborate punchlines for certain jokes, making the world feel appropriately lived in. While similar archetypes are at play in both ensembles, Eternally Yours does its due diligence not to copy Ghosts beat for beat, giving the audience just enough overlap to feel cozy rather than complacent. Eternally Yours may not be a perfect pilot, but with its spooky romcom premise, it has the potential to become another smash hit for Port and Wiseman.

Eternally Yours premieres on CBS on October 8 at 8:30 PM ET and will be available to stream on Paramount+.

‘Party Down’ (2009–2023)

Party Down, created by John Enbom, Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge, and the MCU’s Paul Rudd, follows a group of wannabe actors who move to Los Angeles and find themselves working as caterers to try to make a living.

Effortlessly funny, this undeniable gem should’ve been much more popular with audiences and critics than it was. The likes of Adam Scott, Lizzy Caplan, Ken Marino, Jane Lynch, and many more exciting names bless this three-season series with some of their most underrated work, with 26 episodes currently available for your viewing pleasure.

‘Doc’ (2025–Present)

From The Pitt to Grey’s Anatomy, we simply can’t get enough of medical dramas. Hospitals provide the perfect canvas on which writers can paint the most gripping storylines, as is certainly evident in Fox’s medical drama Doc, which is currently available on Netflix. The series follows Molly Parker as Dr. Amy Larsen, the Chief of Internal Medicine at the fictional Westside Hospital, as a tragic incident causes her to lose eight years of memory.

Based on the Italian series, Doc —Nelle Tue Mani, this might not be as acclaimed as The Pitt or boast as strong a fanbase as Grey’s Anatomy, but there’s plenty to enjoy about a visit to Doc. Parker is superb as Dr. Amy, joined by a stacked cast that includes Omar Metwally (Michael Hamda), Amirah Vann (Gina Walker), Jon Ecker (Jake Heller), Anya Banerjee (Sonya Maitra), Scott Wolf (Richard Miller), and Patrick J. Walker (TJ Coleman). Earlier this week, the second season finally made its way to Netflix, makig now the perfect time to dive in.

‘A Different World’ (2026)

Netflix loves a sitcom revival, and this week, the streamer’s newest made its debut. Based on the NBC sitcom of the same name, A Different World follows Deborah Wayne (Maleah Joi Moon), the youngest daughter of Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) and Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy), as she enters her freshman year at Hillman College and looks to escape her parents’ shadow.

Premiering earlier this week, exactly 39 years from the original series release date, A Different World threatens to fall under the radar of many on Netflix this weekend, so don’t let that be you. Featuring 10 episodes in total, showrunner Felicia Pride‘s revival will hope to take the groundbreaking work that came before and transform it for a new audience, with original series director Debbie Allen returning behind the camera for the premiere outing.

Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers for Lanterns Episode 6.

The latest episode of Lanterns, “Bad Optics,” finally brought the series into the broader DCU. Some of the references were brief, like the mention of “a bat guy” in Gotham and “a giant starfish,” confirming that the events of The Suicide Squad still take place in this universe. The biggest connection, though, was the appearance of Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion). Superman featured Gardner as the current Green Lantern, with most of Lanterns showcasing the events that led to Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) vacating the position and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) outright rejecting it. “Bad Optics” features another major Superman connection that fans might have missed.

During “Bad Optics,” Stewart contacts Gardner and asks him to retrieve Jordan’s Green Lantern ring so he can bury Jordan, who’s seemingly dead, in his uniform. Gardner refuses, as the ring is locked on Oa and grabbing it would alert the Guardians of the Universe; it isn’t until Stewart goads him that he reluctantly agrees. After securing the ring, Gardner says that if the Guardians found out what he did he’d be “on the first beam to the Phantom Zone.” The Phantom Zone is arguably one of the most terrifying concepts in the Superman mythos, and its confirmation hints at villains who could challenge the Man of Steel.

The Phantom Zone Contains Some of Superman’s Deadliest Foes

First appearing in Adventure Comics #283, the Phantom Zone is an alternate dimension where time loses all meaning; anyone who enters the Zone also becomes a psychic “phantom,” forced to roam its expanses for what seems like eternity. Superman’s biological father, Jor-El, used this realm as a prison for Krypton’s worst criminals, building a projector that could beam anyone into the Zone. It remains to be seen how the Guardians of the Universe can access the Zone, but Gardner’s knowledge of it continues to cement him as one of the DCU’s biggest players, as Nathan Fillion pointed out in a Variety interview.

“It’s nice that there’s a bunch of us witnessing the birth of the DC Universe that’s being thrown at us in these pieces, and Guy Gardner is becoming a thread in the backdrop. He’s a very public part. I think that says a lot about who he is.”

The confirmation of the Phantom Zone also hints that it’s home to one of Superman’s deadliest enemies, General Zod. Zod was sent to the Zone after an attempted coup on Krypton, and often escapes to take vengeance on Superman, as Jor-El was both his former friend and the man who sentenced him. Zod isn’t the only threat locked within the Phantom Zone, as Superman’s faced off against foes like the mad scientist Jax-Ur and even Doomsday, the monstrous creature who killed the Man of Steel. If James Gunn winds up making more Superman movies in the DCU, the Phantom Zone could make for an excellent set piece.

Another DCU Project Almost Featured the Phantom Zone

While the Phantom Zone is mentioned in Lanterns, it was almost referenced in another DCU movie. A deleted scene from Supergirl has Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock) and Ruthye (Eve Ridley) discussing the fate of Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts). While Ruthye still wants vengeance on Krem for killing her family, Kara says that she’ll make sure he’s sent to the Phantom Zone for life. This mirrors the original ending of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Elvey, where Krem was sent to the Phantom Zone. King currently serves as a writer and producer on Lanterns, so he may have folded in the reference to the Zone after it didn’t appear in Supergirl.

Lanterns is gaining critical acclaim for balancing the fantastic elements of the Green Lantern comics with a gritty crime thriller, and the reference to the Phantom Zone is a perfect example of that. Now all that’s left is for the Zone to make a proper appearance in the DCU.

Miranda Kerr is sharing a candid insight into how tough her split from Orlando Bloom was for her mental health.

Speaking on “The Jess Rowe Big Talk Show” podcast on Thursday, September 24, Kerr, 43, explained how going through the divorce was one of her toughest challenges. (Kerr and Bloom married in July 2010 and welcomed their son Flynn in January 2011. The pair announced their separation in October 2013.)

“Obviously my public divorce, separation with Orlando, that was something that was another challenging time,” Kerr explained to host Jessica Rowe, adding, “After we separated, I went through a little bit of like, depression.”

The Victoria’s Secret model continued, “And it was so odd for me because I’m a naturally joyful person. And like my mother would call me Giggly Gertrude. Like that was my name, my nickname as a kid because it was always very joyful and giggly.”

The Kora Organics founder said she hoped that she and Bloom can be a good example for other parents who are grappling with coparenting after calling it quits. “We can hopefully encourage other people to do the same and to put the children first and not your own hurt,” she said.

To help heal and move on from her relationship breakdown, Kerr noted that she embraced meditation and yoga and turned inwards.

“This is a decision that we both mutually agreed was good for us. I understand logistically, but my body isn’t catching up to my mind that understands, right?” Kerr explained. “So there was some kind of disconnect that was happening and I and I just felt like I wasn’t the best version of myself.”

She continued, “I felt like my body had to move through the waves of feelings that would come up out of nowhere and it was processing and it was really just me giving myself the time to process and instead of trying to fix it like automatically, it was time to feel the feelings.”

Kerr noted that another thing that helped her was “being truthful with yourself and saying, you know what, this is hard and I’m having a hard time and I don’t really know the way out, but I’m just going to take it day by day and try.”
