DCU Star’s New Body-Hacking Sci-Fi Thriller Officially Sets Digital Release Date With First Trailer [Exclusive]

Published

on

Tyrese Gibson, Franzi Schissler, Frank Grillo, and Harvey Keitel in the key art for Kill Code.

Frank Grillo and Tyrese Gibson face off with an evil corporation in a bleak future in the new cyberpunk thriller Kill Code. In the world of the film, the human body is just hardware that can be programmed to do the bidding of the rich and powerful, but even in this dark dystopia, there are those who fight back. Collider is proud to exclusively present the trailer for Kill Code, which will be released digitally on June 24.

In the dystopian future of Kill Code, America has been ravaged by the Second Civil War, and crime is a deadly pandemic; the rainy, neon-lit streets are dangerous to all who walk them. Alpire Industries CEO and scientist Eion Prescott (a silver-tressed Harvey Keitel) has the cure: the ONYX Program. AI-powered watches will be strapped to known criminals, which will inject them with nanobots loaded with a deadly computer virus: the kill code. It will force them to battle other criminals to the death, with the battered survivors earning redemption…and their lives. But Alpire won’t be satisfied until they’ve eliminated free will entirely. One cyber-enhanced Alpire operative (newcomer Franzi Schissler) has discovered the truth, and she’s hooked up with a ragtag resistance movement that might just win humanity’s freedom back.

Your Fate Has Been Calculated
You’d Survive In…

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

The Resistance, Zion

The Matrix

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

  • You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
  • You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
  • You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
  • The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.

The Wasteland

Mad Max

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

  • You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
  • You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
  • You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
  • In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.

Los Angeles, 2049

Blade Runner

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

  • You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
  • In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
  • You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
  • In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.

Arrakis

Dune

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

  • Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
  • You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
  • Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
  • In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
  • You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
  • You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
  • In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

Who Are the Stars of ‘Kill Code’?

Grillo is an action veteran, with roles in both the MCU, as Hydra operative Brock Rumlow, alias Crossbones, and the new DCU, as government agent Rick Flag Sr.; he will appear as the latter in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow. He also currently appears alongside Sylvester Stallone in the Paramount+ crime drama Tulsa King. Rapper and actor Tyrese Gibson has starred in two separate high-octane action franchises, as a regular in both the live-action Transformers films and as Roman Pearce in the Fast and Furious movies. He recently starred in the action horror comedy Vampires of the Velvet Lounge. Oscar-nominated actor Harvey Keitel’s appearances in the films of Martin Scorsese, including Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, and The Irishman, have established him as one of his generation’s foremost “tough guy” actors. He recently appeared in the actioner Hellfire alongside Stephen Lang.

Kill Code is written and directed by Justin Price (I Heart Robots), who also stars in the film. Formerly titled Hard Matter, it is distributed by Quiver Releasing; it was filmed on location in Mississippi. Kill Code will be released digitally on June 24. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.

Specifically, a claim she reportedly filed regarding “copyrights” could reportedly be refiled.

More On Dawn Richard’s Sexual Assault Lawsuit Against Diddy

As The Shade Room previously reported, in September 2024, Dawn Richard filed a lawsuit against Diddy, accusing him of sexual abuse. In the suit, Richard reportedly referenced her time on ‘Making The Band,’ Diddy promised to advance her career in exchange for his verbal abuse, unfair working conditions, and an occasion where he allegedly appeared without underwear around her.

Furthermore, Richard alleged that Diddy touched her butt and breasts on a number of occasions.

Per TMZ, at the time, Diddy’s legal team reacted to the allegations as an “attempt to rewrite history.”

“If Ms. Richard had such a negative experience with ‘Making the Band’ and Danity Kane, she would not have chosen to continue working directly with Mr. Combs for Dirty Money, nor would she have returned for the ‘Making the Band’ reboot in 2020 or agreed to be featured on ‘The Love Album’ last year,” his attorney reportedly stated.

As The Shade Room previously reported, Diddy is currently incarcerated at federal prison FCI Fort Dix on transportation to engage in prostitution charges. Records indicate he will be released in February 2028.

Sherlock Holmes Returns to TV With New Adults-Only Series

Published

on

young-sherlock-poster.jpg

Sherlock Holmes has been portrayed in just about any way imaginable these days. It’s fair to say you’ve watched a Sherlock story and spotted something before he has, too. There’s been a whole host of Sherlocks over the years since the character first emerged. Serious Sherlocks, eccentric ones, extremely rude ones, young ones, extremely old ones, garden gnomes, you name it. Sherlock’s appeal is evergreen, and now, his story looks set to be retold in new-to-screen adventures in an animated series from Harry King Television and Shrek producer David Lipman.

The new animated series is currently operating under the working title Animated Sherlock, which will draw from Sercombe’s The Unexpurgated Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, which should allow this to put a spin on Sherlock that people haven’t ever seen before. “Taking the animation route allows us to reimagine Sherlock Holmes on a grander, more imaginative and risqué scale than before,” Sercombe told Variety. “Having David, Michael, and Tim steering the series with us combines their legacy in animation with the well-loved classic IP.”

The series will be aimed at mature audiences and will feature season-long arcs, while also exploring original Sherlock Holmes cases from Doyle’s work in individual episodes. Doyle’s original stories were first published between 1887 and 1927, and part of the team to bring this new creative adventure centered around the legendary character are Lipman — who’s probably best known for his work on the Shrek movies — Tim John (A Street Cat Named Bob), and Michael Ryan (Planet 51, Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank).

Jelly Roll Split Date Emerges As Moving Trucks Arrive

Published

on

Jelly Roll at 60th Academy of Country Music Awards

A new detail has emerged in the breakup of Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO, shedding light on when their marriage officially ended.

As moving trucks were spotted outside the couple’s Tennessee home, court documents revealed the date they reportedly separated.

The development comes months after the pair publicly celebrated one another, making the latest chapter in their relationship all the more surprising for fans who followed their journey.

The timeline surrounding Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO’s split is becoming clearer. According to reports, the country music star filed for divorce in Tennessee on May 18, citing irreconcilable differences.

Court documents reportedly list May 9 as the date the couple separated, meaning the marriage ended just nine days before the filing.

The singer, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, is seeking to formally end his marriage to Alisa DeFord, better known as Bunnie XO, after nearly a decade together.

Sources told TMZ that the decision was mutual and remains a private matter for the family.

Jelly Roll is being represented by Nashville attorney Rose Palermo, who has handled several high-profile divorce cases over the years.

While neither party has publicly commented on the filing, the revelation of the separation date offers a clearer picture of how quickly events unfolded behind the scenes.

The latest development came when a moving truck was seen outside the couple’s home near Nashville.

Photographs showed boxes being carried out of the property, fueling speculation about the next phase of the separation.

It remains unclear whether Jelly Roll or Bunnie XO is leaving the residence. Neither has addressed the moving activity publicly, but the images added another layer to a breakup that has attracted significant attention.

The sighting arrived shortly after news of the divorce filing surfaced. For many fans, it marked the first visible sign that major changes were taking place in the couple’s personal lives.

The pair had largely kept details of their relationship private despite their public profiles, making the moving trucks a notable moment in an otherwise closely guarded situation.

The last time the couple appeared together publicly was on February 24 during a stop on Bunnie XO’s book tour.

Jelly Roll surprised attendees by showing up and performing for the sold-out crowd.

At the time, there was little indication that the marriage was approaching its final chapter. The appearance reflected the supportive dynamic that had often defined their relationship in the public eye.

Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO married in 2016 and frequently spoke about overcoming challenges together.

Their relationship endured difficult periods, and both were open about the effort required to make the marriage work.

Earlier this year, Bunnie reflected on those struggles while speaking with PEOPLE. She explained, “When you are with somebody for a long time, you are going to have to love them at their lowest. And I truly believe that true love is not about so much as accepting things that you shouldn’t, but I do think that everybody deserves a second chance.”

She continued, “Loving somebody at their lowest is one of the most beautiful things you can do, especially if they bloom and they blossom like my husband has.”

Those remarks now carry added weight given the couple’s decision to part ways months later.

Emotional Grammy Tribute Takes On New Meaning

One of the most memorable moments in the couple’s recent history came during the 2026 Grammy Awards.

While accepting the award for Best Contemporary Country Album for “Beautifully Broken,” Jelly Roll delivered an emotional tribute to his wife.

Standing onstage, he credited her with helping transform his life and supporting him through some of his darkest moments.

“I would have never changed my life without you. I’d have ended up dead or in jail. I’d have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus,” he said during his acceptance speech.

The heartfelt declaration drew praise at the time and became one of the ceremony’s most talked-about moments.

With news of the divorce now public, the speech has taken on a different significance for fans looking back on the couple’s journey.

As his marriage comes to an end, Jelly Roll is also continuing a highly publicized battle with his health and fitness goals.

Over the last few years, the singer has undergone a remarkable weight-loss transformation. After once weighing more than 500 pounds, he slimmed down to 265 pounds by the time he appeared on the cover of Men’s Health last November.

Recently, however, he admitted that maintaining that progress had become difficult. In a YouTube video, he revealed that he stepped away from his strict routine during the holiday season and struggled to regain momentum after suffering an injury.

Reflecting on that period, Jelly Roll explained per the Daily Mail, “We hit the goal and it was right before the holidays, so I was like, ‘You know what man, I’ve been working hard for the last three years losing this weight, I’m going to enjoy the holidays.’”

He added, “I had a big Thanksgiving meal, I had a big birthday meal, I ate a big Christmas meal. Kinda got off the rails and I broke my collarbone… a few days before Christmas.”

As he navigates both personal and professional changes, the coming months are expected to mark a significant transition for the country star following the end of one of the most important relationships of his life.

Kirk, the popular American political activist and entrepreneur, was assassinated in September 2025 by a rooftop sniper while speaking at a TPUSA event.

Following Kirk’s brutal murder, Seyfried responded to an Instagram post highlighting some of the late political activist’s most controversial statements. Her comment read, “He was hateful,” and it instantly resulted in a torrential rain of backlash from Kirk’s supporters.

Speaking during a recent interview with GQ Magazine, the actress recalled the situation, noting that it was “crazy.” She revealed that the turn of events surprised her because she believes in voicing her opinion without sounding unkind.

“A, I’m allowed to f-cking voice my feelings, and B, do it in a way that’s not unkind necessarily,” she said. Notably, the situation spiraled out of control so much that she started worrying about the safety of her family.

Despite it all, Seyfried still stated that in the heat of the backlash, she still wanted her children to know that they can voice their opinion freely as long as they are “not harmful.”

“And then all of a sudden I find myself with a f-cking bodyguard at the airport, and I’m like, ‘this is crazy,” she added.

Following the backlash that stemmed from her initial comments about Kirk, Seyfried attempted to clear the air, insisting that while she said Kirk was hateful, she didn’t think his murder was justified.

She shared a post on Instagram urging her followers to “remember the nuance of humanity.” The Golden Globe award winner maintained that she can get angry about racism and misogyny and still “very much agree that Charlie Kirk’s murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable,” per The Blast.

Seyfried concluded by reiterating that no one, including Kirk, deserved to experience such a gruesome death. She further added that at least everyone could agree that there were too many violent deaths and unnecessary shootings in the country.

Months after clearing the air on her statements, Seyfried still found herself under scrutiny during an interview in December.

She insisted that she didn’t just call Kirk “hateful” out of the blue, but chose her words based on “actual reality.”

According to Seyfried, what she said was based on real quotes and footage from Kirk’s many interviews where he aired his famously controversial opinions, per The Blast.

In addition to speaking about her controversial remarks, Seyfried also gave the public a peek into her life as someone living with OCD.

Seyfried’s formal OCD diagnosis came when she was 19. While it may have seemed like a debilitating condition at the time, it actually helped the actress make better choices when she was younger.

As reported by The Blast, Seyfried revealed that due to her condition, she purposely avoided drugs, staying out too late, or drinking too much. Instead, she would find herself making social plans and canceling them at the last minute, choosing instead to stay within her comfort zone.

Even as young Seyfried avoided drugs to stay in her comfort zone, she eventually made a name for herself in the film industry, going on to appear in many critically acclaimed projects.

In one of her most recent films, “The Testament of Ann Lee,” the actress was further pushed out of her comfort zone.

She revealed that the movie “needed to be graphic,” requiring her to be exposed in some scenes. Although some might have presumed she was completely naked, Seyfried noted that she wore a “prosthetic butthole” as an extra precaution, according to The Blast.

Seyfried also opened up about the mental challenge of taking on such a role, saying that it was daunting.

However, she explained her reason for agreeing to challenge herself, noting that her artistic growth is largely driven by fear. As such, doing something that scares her helps her improve her acting skills and become a more creative person overall.

Sitcom Legend Made The Same Offbeat Comedy Twice In Two Years

By TeeJay Small
| Published

If you spend as much time trolling around Hulu and Tubi as I do, you’re bound to come across a few hidden gems from time to time. This was certainly the case for me when I stumbled across Self Reliance on Hulu last week. The film is a fun, screwball comedy written, directed, and starring New Girl‘s Jake Johnson. Fresh off that viewing experience, my algorithm detected that I was on some kind of Jake Johnson kick, and alerted me to another starring vehicle for the comedian which released two years earlier.

The second film in my unexpected double feature, Ride The Eagle, touts Johnson’s writing and performance, as directed by Australian filmmaker Trent O’Donnell. While I enjoyed both movies tremendously, I was shocked at just how similar they were. In fact, I’m now on the hunt for a third thematically identical Jake Johnson film, just to see if I can round off a perfect trilogy.

An Unassuming Double Feature

Let’s start from the beginning. On its face, the plot of Self Reliance has little in common with the plot of Ride The Eagle. The former centers on Johnson’s Tommy Walcott as he joins a high-stakes reality game show which is live-streamed to the darkest corners of the internet. Essentially, he’s in a snuff film where he’s being hunted by celebrity lookalikes at all times. The catch is, they can only attack him when he’s completely alone, so Tommy makes an effort to be surrounded by friends and strangers at all times.

Ride The Eagle, on the other hand, sees Johnson portraying a burnout percussionist by the name of Leif Reinhold, who is informed right at the start that his estranged mother has passed away. Leif’s mother abandoned him when he was a child, and the two never reconciled, but she has agreed to leave him a cabin in her will, so long as he follows a set of carefully laid instructions. Feeling conflicted about his tenuous relationship to his mom, Leif packs up his adorable, scene-stealing dog, and moves into the cabin as he begins working his way down the eccentric checklist.

Thematic Overlap

Here’s where the similarities begin. Both films feature Jake Johnson working out his issues with his parents. Leif’s strained relationship with his mother leaves him searching for meaning, and wondering if he should be grieving differently. In Self Reliance, a major plot element is the fact that Tommy’s dad abandoned him in his youth. At one point, Tommy’s dad returns to give him some words of advice, which places major strain on Tommy’s relationship to his sister, since she believes he’s suffering from delusions of grandeur.

The next major through line is JJ’s romantic relationships with women. Ride The Eagle features an absolutely electric performance from The Good Place‘s D’arcy Carden, as Leif’s ex girlfriend Audrey. Lief calls Audrey after his mom’s checklist commands him to rekindle his feelings for the “one who got away,” sparking a level of on-the-phone chemistry that made me blush like I was in a three-way call. In Self Reliance, this character is effectively split into two women, as Tommy sparks up a whirlwind romance with Anna Kendrick’s Maddy. Elsewhere in the film, he confronts his ex girlfriend Theresa about their recent break up, in a scene that feels way too real to be entirely fictional.

Back To Back, Or Over Time?

Finally, there’s the revolving cast of characters that fill out the world of each movie. Jake Johnson has a fun-loving, adorable sidekick in both films, who goes missing for a portion of the runtime only to reappear again later with little explanation. Both films feature Jake Johnson calling out to an uncaring onlooker about keeping his loved ones safe from harm, concluding with a threat of violence if his warning goes unheeded. And of course, both films conclude with JJ going after the girl, having unearthed a level of spontaneity and passion that was previously buried by trauma or listlessness.

I’m not making the argument that Jake Johnson is a one-trick pony here, but I do think it’s odd that these two films have so much in common. Personally, I’d give a slight edge to Ride The Eagle, if only for the knock-out performances of JK Simmons and Susan Sarandon. Despite their obvious similarities, I’d still wholeheartedly recommend both films, but maybe they should be viewed a few weeks apart, so they don’t blend together in your brain.

If you’re interested in checking this Jake Johnson double feature out for yourself, you can find Self Reliance on Hulu, and Ride The Eagle on Tubi. These are a great watch for anyone suffering New Girl withdrawals, or anyone who loves a concise, comedic character study set in a bizarre, offbeat world.

Taylor Swift Wedding Rumors Explode After NY Mayor Hint

Published

Zohran Mamdani at the 2026 New York Memorial Day Commemoration Ceremony

Speculation surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding has intensified after an unexpected comment from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

While details about the couple’s plans have remained closely guarded for months, a brief remark during a public event sent fans and media outlets scrambling for answers.

The moment has also renewed interest in reports of secret preparations already underway behind the scenes.

The latest twist arrived during a press conference held ahead of New York City’s planned ticker-tape parade celebrating the New York Knicks’ NBA championship victory.

While discussing how the city was preparing for a packed calendar of major events, Mamdani appeared to casually reference the wedding that has become one of pop culture’s most talked-about mysteries.

“We are the biggest city in the country, we are used to big events and we are incredibly excited for this one [the World Cup],” Mamdani said per the Daily Mail.

He then added, “We know it coincides with the Knicks finals run. We know it coincides with July 4th, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding, all happening at the same time and we are so excited to welcome the world here.”

The comment immediately grabbed attention because neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly confirmed details about their wedding plans.

When reporters later asked whether he had received an invitation, Mamdani responded, “No,” before offering his well wishes and joking that he hoped the couple would have a “lovely wedding.”

He also joked that he would spend the occasion listening to Swift’s song “Only the Young” from Gracie Mansion.

For months, reports about the couple’s wedding have pointed to several possible locations, with rumors frequently changing as preparations reportedly moved forward.

However, Mamdani’s remarks have added fresh fuel to speculation that Madison Square Garden could ultimately host the ceremony.

Although there has been no official confirmation from Swift or Kelce, fans quickly interpreted the mayor’s comments as a sign that the long-running rumors may be closer to reality than many previously believed.

The possibility of the wedding taking place at one of the world’s most famous venues would certainly match the scale of an event expected to attract enormous public attention.

Since announcing their engagement last summer, the couple has remained largely private about the planning process, making every new detail a major talking point among fans.

Secret Stage Project Raises New Questions

Adding another layer of intrigue, recent reports suggest a large-scale production project connected to the wedding may already be underway.

According to TMZ, Swift has commissioned a custom stage that is currently being constructed at Rock Lititz in Pennsylvania.

The facility is well known in the entertainment industry as a rehearsal complex and stage production center for major touring artists.

The report claims that a “massive stage” is being assembled in a restricted area described as being “under lock and key with security guards patrolling the area.”

The facility also shares a connection to Swift’s touring history. Rock Lititz previously produced the towering video structures featured during her 2018 Reputation Stadium Tour.

While the exact purpose of the stage has not been publicly confirmed, the report has fueled further speculation about the scale of the upcoming celebration.

As excitement continues to build, sources claim the wedding planning process has not been entirely stress-free for the global superstar.

According to Star Magazine, Swift has been feeling increasing pressure as preparations intensify and decisions grow more complicated.

“The last thing Taylor wants is for her wedding to turn into a big showbiz circus,” a source told the publication.

The insider added, “She’s trying not to get bogged down by the guest list and all the details, but it’s difficult with so much global attention and the pressure for everything to be perfect.”

With millions of fans eager for updates and widespread media attention surrounding every development, maintaining privacy has reportedly become one of the couple’s biggest priorities.

Despite the challenges, sources indicate that both Swift and Kelce remain excited about the milestone ahead.

Security has reportedly become one of the most important aspects of the wedding preparations.

Given their celebrity status, the couple is said to be investing heavily in measures designed to keep unwanted attention away from the event.

“It’s a shame security has become such a big deal,” the source explained. “But it is what it is, and Travis and Taylor are grateful they can cover the expense.”

Reports also suggest that experienced professionals are overseeing everything from the venue and décor to Swift’s wedding dress.

Even guests are reportedly being asked to play a role in protecting the couple’s privacy.

According to reports, attendees have signed nondisclosure agreements designed to prevent information from leaking before the ceremony.

For now, many details remain hidden from public view. Still, after Mamdani’s surprising comments and reports of secret preparations, interest in the wedding has reached a new level.

Whether his remarks were a simple joke or an accidental reveal, they have added another fascinating chapter to the story of what may become one of the most closely watched celebrity weddings in recent memory.

‘The Pitt’s Patrick Ball on the “Alchemy” of Mel and Langdon [Exclusive]

Published

on

the-pitt-poster.jpg

The Pitt always has a lot going on, which is probably par for the course whem it comes to the emergency room of a busy big city hospital, and that means nobody should be allowed to catch their breath for more than 4 seconds at a time. It’s full of intense pressure and chaos and each season makes you think the doctors involved lose three years off their lives by the time they finish a shift. And yet the thing that keeps us coming back again and again is probably the quieter connections forming between the doctors and staff. But one relationship above all else is a major talking point with the fandom, and Patrick Ball knows just why you love it.

Speaking with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff during an FYC Forces interview for The Pitt, Ball opened up about the special dynamic between his character, Dr. Frank Langdon, and Dr. Melissa “Mel” King, played by Taylor Dearden. While Langdon has distinct — and not altogether warm — relationships with the other veterans in the department, his spark with Mel has stood out to fans in a big way, and Ball thinks that’s really exciting to watch.

“It is an incredible relationship between Langdon and Mel, and it’s pretty awesome to see everybody get so excited about it, and sometimes, I won’t say too excited, but I’ll just say very excited about it. [Laughs] It’s great. Taylor [Dearden]’s amazing, and she kind of has a little bit of that Noah Wyle quality. She’s another one of these people who is just such a technician and just really knows what she wants to do and how she wants to accomplish it.

Ball explained that he began to lean on Dearden for her experience, and her uncanny ability of knowing exactly what to do, where to stand, even just how to project her presence. “I’m pretty different,” Ball explained. “Especially Season 1, where I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I was just like, ‘I’m just going to do the thing my character is doing. I’m just going to get this tube down that pipe and hook it up to that bag.’ How that works on camera, I don’t know, but Taylor knows. Taylor knows. She knows how to find her shot because she’s done this.”

He continued, “So, we found this rhythm that we got in pretty early, where it’s like, ‘Okay, what are you trying to accomplish? How can I figure out how to do that?’ even whenever I felt much of the time that I was sort of over my skis and I didn’t know how to find my shot, I didn’t know how to do any of that. But figuring out how to listen to what the other person was trying to accomplish created a really specific way of paying attention to one another that I think then turned into the way Langdon and Mel paid attention to each other, and it ended up being this really useful thing.”

Your Fate Has Been Calculated
You’d Survive In…

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

The Resistance, Zion

The Matrix
Advertisement

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

  • You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
  • You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
  • You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
  • The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.

The Wasteland

Mad Max
Advertisement

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

  • You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
  • You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
  • You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
  • In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.

Los Angeles, 2049

Blade Runner
Advertisement

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

  • You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
  • In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
  • You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
  • In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.

Arrakis

Dune
Advertisement

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

  • Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
  • You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
  • Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
  • In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars
Advertisement

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
  • You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
  • You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
  • In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

Why Do Langdon and Mel Have a Spark?

What makes this so interesting is that connection wasn’t forced into the show from outside, but rather the actors figuring it out as they went. As stated before, Ball described Dearden as a precise performer who understood the technical side of shooting in a way that helped him, especially during Season 1, when he was still finding his footing inside the show’s demanding pace, and as a result, that connection from off-camera made its way onto the screen.

“It’s sort of a very similar experience with Langdon and Mel, Langdon being like, ‘Okay, Mel, you see things a little different than everybody else. I like the way you see things. I think you see things correctly in a very cool way, but it is different, and I want to understand it. I want to figure out how to speak that language because I know I’ve got a lot to learn from it,’ which I think that’s true about Langdon and Mel, and I think that’s true about Patrick and Taylor, which has been another one of those great things. Talking about the alchemy of [an] ensemble, that’s something that we just kind of discovered for free.”

The cast of The Pitt includes Noah Wyle (ER) as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, Katherine LaNasa (Truth Be Told) as Dana Evans, Supriya Ganesh (Grown-ish) as Dr. Samira Mohan, Fiona Dourif (Chucky) as Dr. Cassie McKay, Isa Briones(Star Trek: Picard) as Dr. Trinity Santos, Gerran Howell (Catch-22) as Dennis Whitaker, Shabana Azeez (Birdeater) as Victoria Javadi, and Jalen Thomas Brooks (Walker) as Dr. Mateo Diaz.
