Gordon Ramsay Urges Brooklyn Beckham to Reconcile With Family Amid Feud

Published

on

Gordon Ramsay is sending a powerful message to Brooklyn Beckham amid his family feud.

The celebrity chef, who is a longtime friend of David and Victoria Beckham, weighed in on the tension Brooklyn and his family are facing during an interview with The Sun published on Friday, February 13.

“We’re dear friends and have been for two and half decades. Their relationship with Brooklyn is, it was, solid. I’ve seen and [wife] Tana’s seen firsthand just how good of parents they are. And David as a dad is just incredible,” Ramsay, 59, said.

Ramsay acknowledged that the family dynamic appeared to have shifted when Brooklyn, 26, fell in love with Nicola Peltz Beckham, 31, and married her in April 2022.

Brooklyn Beckham’s ongoing feud with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, has made headlines for years. Brooklyn married his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, in April 2022. Rumors soon began to circulate that Nicola and Brooklyn’s mother had a falling out over a wedding gown — an allegation Brooklyn tried to stymy. “They’re always going to […]

“It’s hard when you enter that age in life when you join with another family. There’s a different dynamic going on and so there was bound to be some form of clash,” Ramsay told the outlet. “But the relationship with David and Brooklyn is very, very deep and I know how much David loves Brooklyn and I think it’s only going to be a matter of time before Brooklyn takes a good look at himself and understands just what they mean.”

The Hell’s Kitchen star said he believed Brooklyn and his parents will eventually patch things up and pointed out how much support David, 50, and Victoria, 51, had provided their son over the years.

“It’s easy to get up on that rollercoaster isn’t it, and get carried away but it will come back because I know. I know how many times they’ve pulled him out of the sh*t,” Ramsay continued. “I know how many times they’ve absolutely stood by him through thick and thin.”

He added, “David’s an amazing dad and he will absolutely get that back online. Time. Time’s going to be the best healer.”

Ramsay said that he’s still in touch with Brooklyn and has a lot of respect for the Cloud23 founder. However, Ramsay hoped the “penny would drop” with Brooklyn soon and that he would bury the hatchet with his family and “remember where you came from.”

“We’ve messaged a little bit, it’s a very difficult situation. I love him. His heart is incredible. But it’s hard isn’t it, when I think you’re infatuated. Love is blind. They say it for a reason,” Ramsay said.  “You know, he’s desperate to stand on his own two feet, he’s desperate to forge his own way and I respect that for Brooklyn. That’s such a good thing to do. But remember where you came from and honestly, one day you’re not going to have your mom and dad. And you need to understand that.”

Ramsay went on again to emphasize how much love there was for Brooklyn from his parents despite the public feud.

“I know, 24/7, seven days a week just how much David loves Brooklyn and that penny will drop with him,” Ramsay added.

Brooklyn Beckham spoke out directly for the first time about the months-long feud that has fractured his famous family. Beckham, 26, addressed the drama within his family — which has left him estranged from his parents, David and Victoria, and his younger brothers, Romeo and Cruz — while competing in the Ryder Cup Celebrity All-Star […]

Ramsay also touched on claims Brooklyn made in January via a scathing Instagram statement, where he alleged Victoria danced “inappropriately” with her son at his wedding to Nicola.

“Whilst Victoria is upset, and [has] every right to be upset… we were there at the wedding. There was nothing salacious, nothing inappropriate, everyone was having fun,” Ramsay said.

When asked  about the memes that circulated mocking the dancing claims, Ramsay said he hadn’t seen them but had a message for Brooklyn.

“Victoria’s got a great sense of humor. She can bat that sh*t away in a heartbeat,” he responded. “I just want Brooklyn to just a moment to yourself and just remember, you’re half mom and half dad and you’re an amazing man but boy, they’ve done more for you than anyone will do in your entire life. [Including] any father-in-law, let me tell you.”

Violent, R-Rated Action Thriller On Netflix Is A Certified Fresh Winning Ticket

By Robert Scucci
| Published

If I ever won a $156 million lottery jackpot, I wouldn’t tell anyone, but there would be signs. First, I’d fake my own death, only to resurface a couple weeks later wearing a fake mustache and going about my business as usual.

When approached by people who say, “Hey, didn’t you just die?” my answer would be simple: “That wasn’t me, that was the impostor.” When they inevitably respond with “What?”, I’d say “Huh?” throw a smoke bomb on the ground, and run away because I’d have enough disposable income for a limitless supply of smoke bombs. Then I’d fake my death again, this time resurfacing a couple weeks later with a goatee.

Your Lucky Day 2023

I’d repeat this process a dozen or so times until the novelty wears off. Then I’d fake my death for real and retire to my underground bunker. My intended elusive methods may seem insane, but this rock solid plan is nothing compared to what happens in 2023’s Your Lucky Day. Here, a guy wins the jackpot at a convenience store, brags about it loudly, and immediately gets compromised by another patron who just so happens to be hard up for cash and willing to do whatever it takes to claim the ticket.

A Terrible Plan, And Its Many Escalations

In Your Lucky Day, we’re first introduced to a low-level drug dealer named Sterling (Angus Cloud), who gets robbed during a deal gone wrong. Not knowing how to recoup his losses, Sterling pops into a convenience store to take a quick breather. Inside, the store’s owner, Amir (Mousa Hussein Kraish), and a regular customer, Mr. Laird (Spencer Garrett), are making small talk while Mr. Laird scans his Mega Ball tickets at the lottery kiosk to see if he won anything. Also in the store are Abraham (Elliot Knight), his pregnant girlfriend Ana (Jessica Garza), and a cop named Cody (Sterling Beaumon).

Your Lucky Day 2023

Here’s how it all goes down. Ana and Abraham are grabbing ice cream, Cody is in the bathroom, and Mr. Laird discovers he just won the $156 million jackpot. Sterling tapes a makeshift mask made from a Mega Ball flyer to his face and decides to rob the store to take the ticket. The scuffle that follows brings Cody out of the bathroom with his weapon drawn. In the ensuing chaos, Cody accidentally kills Mr. Laird. Sterling, who now has nothing to lose and everything to gain, shoots Cody, presumably killing him as well.

Sterling locks down the store and demands that Ana, Abraham, and Amir help him dispose of the bodies, but not before discussing how they’ll split the winnings. Everybody is understandably apprehensive, especially since the winning ticket is now tied to a fatal robbery, potentially rendering it useless. Still, they come up with a plan that, on paper, allows them to get rid of the bodies without drawing suspicion, cash in the jackpot, and go their separate ways. Or so they think. The plan sounds airtight until unexpected complications start piling up.

Unexpected, But Welcome Lead Role Switcheroo

Your Lucky Day 2023

Kicking off from Sterling’s perspective, Your Lucky Day pivots quickly once the robbery spirals out of control. Sterling may have secured the Mega Ball ticket, but he’s still a low-level criminal thinking one step ahead at best. Ana, one of his hostages, gradually takes control of the situation, and it’s the best part of the movie.

Ana is nine months pregnant and rightfully terrified by everything that’s happened, but that doesn’t stop her from stepping up. She’s calculating, sharp, and quick to map out a contingency plan that makes you wonder what kind of crime lord she was in a past life. What she doesn’t anticipate is that Cody’s corrupt cop family is looking for him, and they’re closing in fast.

Your Lucky Day 2023

Your Lucky Day is a tight, low-budget thriller with more charm than its back-pocket production values would suggest. It tells a simple story, and that simplicity works because of how fast it escalates and how confidently it throws curveballs at the audience.

Watching how quickly everybody adjusts to the situation once they realize they could walk away from this never worrying about money again is half the fun. Loyalties shift, nerves fray, and the stakes keep climbing as the walls close in, but you’ll want to stick around to see how it all plays out.

Your Lucky Day 2023

As of this writing, Your Lucky Day is streaming on Netflix.

The Razzies Cocreator Spills BTS Secrets Ahead of 2026 Awards Show

With the 2026 Golden Raspberry Awards airing in March, Us Weekly is taking a deep dive into the infamous awards show with cocreator Mo Murphy.

While speaking with Us exclusively, Murphy opened up about what it’s like to run the annual ceremony, from picking locations, to how nominees are chosen for each category to how trophies do — or sometimes don’t — find their way into the winner’s hands.

The Razzies began in the early ‘80s after publicist J.B. Wilson went to watch a double feature of Can’t Stop the Music and Xanadu and found himself “very upset he paid 99 cents” for both films, Murphy says. The pair then rallied together to launch the first ever Golden Raspberry Awards in 1981. But while the show is meant to honor the worst films, actors, directors and screenplays in Hollywood, Murphy explains that the concept of the show is actually deeper than that.

“Our mission is to bring humanity to celebrity,” she tells Us. “We all make mistakes (look at us) and if we own it, the audience relates and celebrates with us.”

Anyone who pays $40 dollars in dues can be part of the Razzies voting committee, and no movie or actor is safe from avoiding nomination. Fifty Shades of Grey swept the 2016 Razzies despite taking more than $570 million at the worldwide box office, taking home a total of five awards. Its sequel Fifty Shades Darker performed nearly as well, raking in a whopping nine nominations, winning two.

Despite what some may assume, Murphy insists that most nominees “actually do have fun” with the idea of the show. Judi Dench once said she was “delighted” being nominated for her performance in Cats, while Sandra Bullock attended the ceremony in person in 2011 to accept her Worst Actress and Worst Onscreen Couple (with Bradley Cooper) awards for her film All About Steve.

The 46th Razzie Awards will air on YouTube Saturday, March 14. Keep scrolling for 25 things you didn’t know about the event:

1. The Razzies began in 1981 after publicist John J. B. Wilson became “very upset that he paid 99 cents for a double feature of Can’t Stop the Music and Xanadu,” Murphy says of her cofounder.

2. The Razzies voting pool is made up of 1,200 people, six times the body that votes for the Golden Globes.

3. Anyone who pays $40 in dues is in.

4. Team Razzies deliberately picks tacky venues to draw a contrast with the Oscars.

5. Box-office success often doesn’t carry weight in what movies are nominated.

6. Fifty Shades of Grey raked in $570 million at the worldwide box office but was still nominated for six Razzies in 2016, winning five.

7. Sequel Fifty Shades Darker received nine nominations in 2018, winning two.

8. David Eigenberg embraced the Razzie wins for Sex in the City 2 — despite only being in the movie for “three minutes” — by making a home movie about it with his family.

9. Jamie Dornan claimed he wanted to attend the Razzies but never got invited, despite winning for Fifty Shades of Grey.

10. Dakota Johnson, Dornan’s Fifty Shades costar, claimed she asked to have her Razzies sent to her.

11. Not everyone loves the Razzies. Murphy “suspects” Adam Sandler took his family to Disney World instead of accepting his Razzies sweep for Jack & Jill.

12. Still, Murphy insists “most winners actually do have fun.”

13. Sometimes people show up to the Razzies hoping to win and are upset when they don’t, Murphy tells Us.

14. Showgirls director Paul Verhoeven was the first recipient to attend the in-person ceremony, in 1996.

15. Verhoeven “showed up and enjoyed himself,” Murphy says, telling the crowd, “This was much more fun than reading the reviews of my movie!”

16. Judi Dench was “delighted” to hear about her Worst Supporting Actress Razzie nomination for Cats, a film she didn’t watch.

17. When Sandra Bullock won a Razzie for All About Steve, she showed up with a wagon of DVDs, urging the audience to rewatch.

18. Bullock sent Johnson a voice note inviting her into the Razzie Club after she won Worst Actress for 2024’s Madame Web.

19. Dornan broke his Razzie mid-interview after Conan O’Brien presented it to him on TV in 2020.

20. Ben Affleck left his Razzie for Gigli behind on Larry King Live in 2004, so Murphy and the team sold it on eBay to pay for a venue deposit.

21. President Donald Trump has yet to pick up his Worst Supporting Actor Razzie for 1989’s Ghosts Can’t Do It.

22. Murphy recalls one pair of bodybuilding twins who attended and insisted on “giving an acceptance speech” for an award they “didn’t win.”

Razzies Rescind 'Not Appropriate' Bruce Willis Award Following Backlash

A change of heart. The Razzie Awards have walked back their decision to continue their “Worst Performance by Bruce Willis in 2021” award following the actor’s recent health issues. “After much thought and consideration, the Razzies have made the decision to rescind the Razzie Award given to Bruce Willis, due to his recently disclosed diagnosis,” […]

23. When Battlefield Earth won big at the 2001 Razzies, John Travolta reportedly said he has people he pays to keep him from hearing about “such things.”

24. The age minimum for Razzies became 18 after 12-year-old Firestarter star Ryan Kiera Armstrong’s nomination was rescinded in 2023. Murphy’s team took the win instead.

25. Bruce Willis’ Razzie win was annulled in light of his aphasia diagnosis, as was Shelley Duvall’s after revelations of onset mistreatment on The Shining.

This Gripping Techno-Thriller Series Is the Perfect ‘Black Mirror’ Replacement

This Gripping Techno-Thriller Series Is the Perfect ‘Black Mirror’ Replacement

As far as dark techno-thrillers go, Black Mirror dominates the genre with its blatant disregard for the viewer’s comfort and its eerily prescient storytelling. But if the anthology show is a tad too dystopian, and you’d prefer something set in the world we are familiar with, then Mr. Robot should be your next watch. But unlike Black Mirror, which always comes with a shiny bit of futuristic technology, replace that with plain old hacking, the “plant a USB and watch code run across the screen” type. It has the gritty, sharp, and psychologically violent atmosphere of Black Mirror, but is rooted in a version of cybersecurity and anti-capitalism that is recognizable to a contemporary audience.

Mr. Robot follows Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek), a cybersecurity engineer who moonlights as a hacker vigilante. He is perpetually plagued by anti-capitalist diatribes, especially against the powerful E(vil) Corp, which doesn’t quite help with his social anxiety, dissociative disorder, or drug addiction. But when he meets the titular character, played by Christian Slater, who founded a community of hacker-activists called fsociety, Elliot finds a more decisive way to channel his rage against mega-corporations instead of the lone instances of vigilantism he is used to. But that means he is now on the radar of the huge conglomerate, disrupting his life of solitude and dragging him into a technological war for four seasons.

‘Mr. Robot’ Has the Prescience, Grit, and Discomfort of ‘Black Mirror’

Black Mirror has the knack for telling stories that are startlingly relevant to the modern age, despite the futuristic and almost inconceivable nature of the technology it depicts. Meanwhile, Mr. Robot achieves the same disconcerting sentiment, but on a more grounded scale. It roots itself in cybersecurity, simultaneously depicting the usefulness of hacking through grand schemes of taking down corporate overlords and the dangers of technology, forcing us to think twice about our passwords and digital footprint. Unlike the hackers we see in big-budget films, this show takes a grounded approach, often lingering on computer screens and tangible processes accompanied by explanations. Highly sophisticated firewalls aren’t toppled in mere seconds, instead that fictionalized hacking is replaced by techniques like phishing through USBs or password generator programs. Not as exciting, but terrifyingly authentic.

When Mr. Robot combines hacking with vigilantism, an even more Black Mirror-esque darkness emerges. The show veers strongly away from romanticizing the act of vigilantism, something shows like Dexter do with the instant gratification of watching a criminal finally get his comeuppance. Mr. Robot has a fiercely pragmatic approach that strips away any satisfaction. When Elliot confronts a target, he starkly lays out their crimes, whether that be accessing child pornography or running dark web marketplaces, and never really indulges in the idea of justice. Instead, we are left with the hollow feeling of knowing the crimes took place and that these figures are simply representative of others like them — there is neither respite nor catharsis.

Rami Malek Leads ‘Mr. Robot’ as a True Anti-Hero and Morally Ambiguous Hacker

Much of the show’s shifting grim tones also comes from Elliot’s characterization and Malek’s performance. Mr. Robot delivers a true anti-hero, not just a character who kills people for a good cause. Elliot is genuinely difficult to root for in the beginning, as he is socially awkward, openly finds refuge in drugs, and is utterly invasive — he hacks into the accounts of every single person he meets, good or bad. He is reminiscent of Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) from You in his lack of respect for privacy and the long mental monologues during conversations (though Elliot is hilariously called out for not speaking many times), but is also Joe’s antithesis. While Joe is a mix of charm and thinly-veiled misogyny, Elliot is the creepy, unblinking guy you would cross the street to avoid but his anarchistic actions actually match his beliefs.

Malek plays into the character’s awkwardness at the beginning of Mr. Robot, refusing to glamorize the vigilante at all. But as Elliot’s mental health is explored, including through scenes with a therapist, Malek deepens Elliot’s emotional texture and intensity. It’s as if we are witnessing a robot come to life, delving into the internal wiring that drives his addictions to drugs and thankless justice alike. His story unfolds evocatively, pairing effectively with the major storyline of taking down E Corp and making us more invested. Mr. Robot envelops us in darkness on all fronts, forming a thoughtful and disconcerting viewing experience that is gripping in its own right. As such, if you’ve finished up Black Mirror and need something just as uncomfortable and prescient, then this techno-thriller needs to be on your radar.

Why Did Simon Rex Leave What I Like About You After Season 1?

Published

on

After joining What I Like About You with Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth, Simon Rex was nowhere to be found after the first season of the hit WB sitcom.

What I Like About You followed the lives of two sisters living together in New York City — teenager Holly (Bynes) and her responsible older sister, Val (Garth). Rex was introduced as Val’s boyfriend, Jeff, when the show premiered in 2002.

Jeff and Val’s relationship was going well until a miscommunication on Valentine’s Day made Val think she was going to get proposed to. Instead, Jeff revealed he never wanted to get married and they subsequently called it quits. They briefly reconciled, but ultimately didn’t get back together — and Jeff was MIA when What I Like About You returned for season 2.

Rex, 51, never specifically addressed his departure from What I Like About You, but many fans think his story line just ran its course. Years later, he spoke about how his acting career suffered as he tried to navigate life in the spotlight.

Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth reminded fans of all the reasons they love the actresses during their run on What I Like About You. The duo starred as sisters Holly and Val Tyler, respectively, on the WB sitcom from 2002 to 2006. For four seasons, they cracked up viewers alongside their costars Nick Zano (Vince), Leslie Grossman […]

“In America, we love watching someone rise — then fail. And then we love watching them come back. Americans love the cycle. It’s just more interesting,” he told news outlet Y Net in 2021 while promoting Red Rocket. “In the past, I was distracted by women and parties, always chasing pleasure. But for the first time in my life, I’m focused on creating meaningful work — and on humility. It took me a long time to become a good Jewish man but I’m finally there.”

Rex rose to fame as an MTV VJ before starring in the Scary Movie franchise and making the transition into music with his rap persona: Dirt Nasty. The actor, who was previously involved in sex work, released several albums and had other onscreen roles but he had a significant gap between projects before his critically acclaimed performance in Sean Baker‘s 2021 drama film Red Rocket.

Rex recalled not feeling in “control” at the time, adding in the 2021 interview, “I lived in Hollywood, surrounded by beautiful women and endless parties. I’d show up to auditions hungover — I wasn’t taking my work seriously.”

He continued: “As I got older, my body and mind just couldn’t keep up with that lifestyle anymore. So I told myself, ‘OK, it’s time to grow up.’ I’m lucky to be a working actor, and now all my energy is focused on my craft.”

Despite the challenges, Rex made it clear he had no regrets.

“If I had done things differently, I wouldn’t be here now, so I guess the answer is no. Of course, I’ve hurt people, and I’ve been hurt too,” he shared. “I’ve made plenty of mistakes — but I’ve learned from them. In the end, everything led me to this moment, so I’m at peace with my regrets.”

What I Like About You aired for three more seasons after Rex’s disappearance. In addition to Bynes, 39, and Garth, 53, the series starred Wesley Jonathan, Leslie Grossman, Michael McMillian, Nick Zano, Allison Munn, Dan Cortese, Edward Kerr and David de Lautour.
