Chase Stokes is embracing a new side of himself — and changing his overall health routine — after saying goodbye to Outer Banks.

“When I was doing Outer Banks, I was intermittent fasting almost until two o’clock every day,” Stokes, 33, told Men’s Health in an interview published on Wednesday, August 26. “Just so I could keep the weight off with [my character] John B., and I was drinking upwards of a gallon of water [at] that time to keep myself full.”

Stokes explained that after playing John B. on the Netflix series for five seasons, culminating in the series finale that premiered this month, he was ready for something new.

That change includes a shift in his fitness routine — and in a surprising twist, the ability to eat more while doing different gym workouts.

“Now, I wake up at 7 a.m., fast until 10 or 11, and have a hearty breakfast,” Stokes revealed, noting that he’s now preparing to play pit crew member Ronnie Whitlock on AMC’s Thunder Road. “Then, I go to the gym, and when I come back, I have a protein shake. Later, I have another oomph of protein.”

He joked that he’s no longer “starving himself to play a teenager,” telling the outlet, “It’s nice to be able to eat more.”

The actor, who was known for his slim but toned physique on Outer Banks, said that his gym routine is now reminiscent of a professional athlete.

“There was a lot of lighter weight, higher reps with John B. to sort of keep that lean look, and now, it’s a lot more of heavy compound lifts,” Stokes shared. “It’s almost sort of mirroring a version of what a wide receiver, or even a tight end, would do. A lot of cleans, squats, Bulgarian split squats, deadlifts.”

The Maryland native added, “I’m benching for the first time in a long time, trying to hit maxes. I’m really building out my frame versus with John B., I had to be kind of lanky and lean.”

Stokes noted that after growing up in the spotlight on Outer Banks — he was in his 20s when the show began and now is in his 30s — he’s happy to feel comfortable in his body.

“I’ve always kind of struggled with body dysmorphia,” he confessed. “The internet falls in love with the blonde-haired boy with the six-pack abs and then wonders why I don’t always look like that.”

Stokes revealed that he’s “gone through a lot of scrutiny and a lot of condescending stuff over the years about my body,” which “really messed” with his mental health.

Now that he’s left John B. in his rearview mirror, Stokes said that “constant comparison and contrast” to the character is finally “put to bed.”

“We get to start fresh, and we get to build something that is really cool and entirely different,” Stokes said of his next chapter. “And you don’t have to worry about the aesthetics. You can just focus on the work and the art and making sure that you’re showing up well for the job.”

A South Carolina man has been arrested in connection to his mother’s death after authorities found what they believe to be her in a burn pit.

Justin Queen has been charged with murder and destruction of human remains more than a year after his mother, Christy Dunn, was reported missing, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office announced in a Friday, August 28 news release.

The charges stem from last summer, when Dunn’s employer hadn’t seen her for about a week and asked the sheriff’s office to conduct a welfare check on June 27, 2025, according to authorities.

Deputies were unable to locate Dunn, 52, at her Anderson County home, but found her car and personal belongings, authorities said. She had lived at the South Carolina residence with Queen, now 32, and Queen’s son.

“From the beginning of the investigation, Detectives identified several concerning circumstances surrounding Dunn’s disappearance and began an extensive investigation,” the sheriff’s office said, including the discovery that Dunn’s debit card was still in use after her disappearance.

In July 2025, investigators searched Dunn’s property for human remains and found what they suspected were human bones in a burn pit, according to authorities. Their suspicions were confirmed as correct by a Clemson forensic anthropologist.

Additional remains were found on Dunn’s property after another search warrant was carried out, the sheriff’s office said.

As a result of a monthslong investigation, detectives believe an assault occurred in Dunn’s home before her “body was subsequently taken to the burn pit,” according to authorities.

“Based on the totality of the evidence, Detectives believe the burned remains recovered from the property are those of Christy Dunn,” the sheriff’s office said.

During the investigation, detectives spoke with witnesses who said they had seen Queen with his mother in the woods ahead of her disappearance, according to the sheriff’s office.

In addition to witness statements, authorities said other evidence linking Queen to Dunn’s death included financial records, phone records and surveillance footage.

“After an extensive review of the evidence, the 10th Circuit Solicitor’s Office determined that sufficient probable cause existed to seek charges against Queen,” the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities didn’t specify a potential motive for the alleged murder.

Queen was arrested on Thursday, August 27, and booked in the Anderson County Detention Center, according to records viewed by Us. He’s been denied bond ahead of a bond hearing.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether Queen had retained legal counsel.

This is not Jenelle Evans’ first time choosing homeschooling for her younger children. In April 2024, she pulled Kaiser and Ensley from school after saying she had learned their school was not safe, while her oldest son Jace remained in regular school. 

Evans explained that she had decided to homeschool her children and insisted she was not acting as their traditional teacher. She said she puts the children on the computer for their lessons. Evans explained that Kaiser’s repeated “bullying” was one of the biggest reasons behind the decision.

According to the social media influencer, her son had dealt with intimidation in Las Vegas and North Carolina before experiencing it again at his latest school. She said the recent incidents mainly involved his weight, which made her unwilling to continue sending him into the same environment.

The “Teen Mom 2” alum also explained that her CRPS diagnosis has made driving difficult. She said the school was about 40 minutes away, making the morning and afternoon trips consume roughly two to three hours of her day. Her decision also gives her more control over what her children are learning.

The mother of three revealed that she feels more comfortable knowing what is being taught and not having to worry about anything she considers inappropriate being put into their heads.

In April 2022, Cowell acknowledged that he had initially downplayed how serious the accident and its aftermath were.

“It was a lot worse than people thought. I had a lot of long-term nerve damage as well,” he told OK! magazine. His recovery proved to be a lengthy process. Cowell experienced considerable pain when he tried playing soccer with Eric, despite believing that his bones had healed.

Another accident followed in February 2022, when Cowell fell from an e-bike in London and broke his arm. Despite being injured in two separate crashes, the television personality has remained committed to riding. “I’m still gonna stay on my bike. I’m obsessed with these things,” he told “Today” in 2023.

Cowell’s representative has not disclosed the specific nature of his latest operation or announced an exact date for his return. “Obviously, medical matters are private, but it’s routine, and he will be back in a few weeks,” the representative told “Entertainment Weekly,” according to NBC.

That timeline means the longtime judge could potentially return before the September 22 and September 23 finale, although the show has not confirmed his schedule.

Six Flags Magic Mountain has reportedly shut down a roller coaster that has caused serious injuries and death to riders for years. The X2 has been closed since Sunday, July 12, as two women underwent brain surgery following ride on the roller coaster. Also, the closure comes years after a man died from riding the X2 back in 2022.

Six Flags Roller Coaster Finally Shuts Down

Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California, reportedly shut down the X2 on July 12, after two women required emergency brain surgery after riding the roller coaster, according to KTLA.

Pamela Guillen, 40, and 25-year-old Naomi Greer-Wilkinson rode the roller coaster within six days of each other and were injured, per KLTV. Additionally, both women experienced brain hemorrhages that required emergency brain surgery, and they both ended up in a coma.

Also, on Sunday, July 5, Guillen sustained a life-threatening brain injury after she hit her head on the headrest during the roller coaster ride. She reportedly lost consciousness after getting off the X2 and was rushed to the hospital. Surgeons immediately performed brain surgery. Ultimately, Guillen was unconscious for approximately two weeks. In addition, she also had to learn how to talk and walk again. 

As said, Naomi Greer-Wilkinson suffered a brain hemorrhage from riding the X2. She is still in a coma and requires a ventilator to breathe.

Coaster Linked To Multiple Injuries Over The Years

An exposé by CNN revealed that multiple injuries have been attributed to the roller coaster, and several hospitalizations also occurred. Furthermore, a man also died after riding the roller coaster back in 2022. Six Flags documents recorded at least 70 neck and head injury complaints between 2019 and 2022. Nonetheless, the ride was not permanently closed until this year.

22-Year-Old Man Died After Riding Roller Coaster In 2022

The family of Christopher Hawley sued Six Flags Magic Mountain for wrongful death following his death from riding the coaster.

The 22-year-old was a graduate of San Diego State University, and he rode the X2 on June 23, 2022, with his brother and cousin. The two were sitting behind Hawley when all of the sudden the roller coaster stopped in a violent and abrupt manner. Afterward, Hawley said his head hurt as he held onto the rail, and he had trouble walking. He was rushed to the hospital where a CT scan showed a catastrophic right subdural hematoma. Hawley died the next day. His brother and cousin said the ride also made them hit their heads repeatedly and jolted them “like rag dolls.”

“We want to make sure that ride isn’t going to kill somebody else,” said Hawley’s father. “They won’t explain to us what happened. They’ve essentially gone dark. The only way we’ve been able to contact them is through our attorney.”

A settlement was reportedly reached this year. Years before, in 2010, a 28-year-old woman, Hilda Farias, also reportedly died after riding the roller coaster. She had a preexisting brain abnormality. However, doctors believe it ruptured because of the ride’s intensity. A wrongful death lawsuit was also settled for an undisclosed amount.

In the case of Guillen and Greer-Wilkinson, the surgeons stated that the roller coaster caused the brain injuries.

“In our professional opinion, the severe brain injuries requiring emergent neurosurgical attention were the result of a traumatic rapid acceleration-deceleration event experienced while on the X2 ride,” they noted.

Tim Curry, the legendary British actor whose unforgettable performances in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, IT, Clue and countless other projects made him one of Hollywood’s most recognizable character actors, has died. He was 80.

Curry died Tuesday, August 25, at his home in Los Angeles, according to multiple reports. His death comes after years of health struggles following a major stroke in 2012.

Born Timothy James Curry in England in 1946, Curry began his professional career on the stage, joining the original London production of Hair in 1968. It was theater that would eventually lead him to the role that changed his career forever.

Curry originated the role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the 1973 London production of The Rocky Horror Show before bringing the character to the big screen in 1975’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show. While the film was not initially a major success, it eventually became one of cinema’s most enduring cult classics through its legendary midnight screenings and audience participation.

Curry’s fearless performance as Frank-N-Furter became a defining piece of pop culture and remained closely associated with the actor throughout his career.

But Curry’s work extended far beyond Rocky Horror.

Horror fans knew him as the terrifying Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the 1990 television adaptation of Stephen King’s IT. His performance helped turn Pennywise into a horror icon decades before the character returned to theaters.

Curry was equally memorable as Wadsworth in the 1985 cult comedy Clue and as the imposing Lord of Darkness in Ridley Scott’s Legend. His extensive film credits also included Annie, The Hunt for Red October, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, The Three Musketeers, Muppet Treasure Island, Charlie’s Angels and Scary Movie 2.

His career also included decades of stage and voice work. Curry earned three Tony Award nominations, including recognition for his performances in Amadeus, My Favorite Year and Monty Python’s Spamalot. He also became a prolific voice actor, lending his distinctive voice to numerous animated series, films and video games.

In 2012, Curry suffered a major stroke that significantly affected his mobility. Although the health setback limited his live-action work, he continued making appearances and taking on select projects. He later returned to the world of Rocky Horror as the Criminologist in Fox’s 2016 television adaptation.

Curry released his memoir, Vagabond, in 2025 and participated in celebrations surrounding the 50th anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, giving fans another opportunity to celebrate the performer behind one of cinema’s most enduring characters.

Whether audiences remember him as Frank-N-Furter, Pennywise, Wadsworth, Darkness or one of the countless characters brought to life by his unmistakable voice, his performances left an impact that stretched across film, television, theater and generations of fans.
