In Just 3 Days, Netflix’s 4-Part Horror Series Is Already a Late-Night Streaming Hit

Published

on

lord-of-the-flies-poster.jpg

A year after the word-of-mouth success of the four-part series Adolescence, Netflix released the documentary film Louis Theroux: Into the Manosphere, which revisited similar themes. Now, some months later, Adolescence writer Jack Thorne finds himself returning to ideas of masculinity and power once again in another four-part series for Netflix. Well, to be precise, the series was acquired by Netflix for domestic release, but it was aired in its home country of the United Kingdom back in February on BBC One. The new series has been met with near-universal acclaim, and it has a Rotten Tomatoes score that’s only one point below that of Adolescence.

We’re talking, of course, about Lord of the Flies. The series was released domestically on May 4, and according to FlixPatrol, it has already found a spot for itself on the streamer’s viewership chart. It trails the runaway hit true-crime series Should I Marry a Murderer and the recently released action-thriller Man on Fire. But Lord of the Flies ranks ahead of the second season of Running Point and the six-part drama-thriller series Unchosen. Based on the classic 1954 novel by William Golding, Lord of the Flies follows a handful of boys — they’re played by Lox Pratt, David McKenna, Ike Talbut, and Winston Sawyer — stranded on a tropical island after a plane crash. They create a makeshift society that descends into chaos.

Your Fate Has Been Calculated
You’d Survive In…

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

The Resistance, Zion

The Matrix

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

  • You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
  • You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
  • You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
  • The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.

The Wasteland

Mad Max

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

  • You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
  • You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
  • You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
  • In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.

Los Angeles, 2049

Blade Runner

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

  • You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
  • In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
  • You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
  • In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.

Arrakis

Dune

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

  • Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
  • You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
  • Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
  • In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
  • You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
  • You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
  • In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

Jack Thorne’s New Show Has All the Makings of a Word-of-Mouth Sensation

Lord of the Flies currently holds a “Certified Fresh” 96% score on the aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, where the consensus reads, “Fleshing out William Golding’s text with thoughtful observations about boyhood and sharpened by a uniformly terrific troupe of child actors, this retelling of Lord of the Flies seizes the conch shell and commands attention.” By comparison, Adolescence is now sitting at a 97% score. In his review, Collider’s Shawn Van Horn noted Lord of the Flies‘ similarities to the recent series Yellowjackets and wrote, “If its four episodes had been a bit shorter, and a few changes to the source material had been reversed, Lord of the Flies could have achieved greatness; instead, it settles for being pretty good.” Incidentally, an animated adaptation of the similarly themed novel “Animal Farm” is currently playing in theaters, albeit not too successfully. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

Gwyneth Paltrow Accused Of ‘Glamorizing Crime’

Gwyneth Paltrow at the 2026 Oscars

Gwyneth Paltrow can’t seem to escape controversy!

Over the years, the Goop founder has repeatedly found herself at the center of backlash over her opinions and even some of her brand’s decisions.

Most recently, she sparked reactions after questioning society’s fascination with wealthy tech men. As criticism over those remarks continues, another controversy tied to her brand has resurfaced online.

Paltrow’s health-focused delivery restaurant sparked fresh controversy last weekend after sharing a collaboration campaign on social media with Anna Delvey.

The clip opened with a close-up of an ankle monitor strapped to a pair of legs in stockings and black heels as a doorbell rang in the background. The video transitioned to show the brand’s paper bag sitting outside a closed door.

Dressed in a white blouse tucked into a black skirt, convicted fraudster Delvey opened the door. “Can’t go out? Don’t be so dramatic,” she told the camera before slowly shutting the door.

Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, became infamous for posing as a wealthy heiress to infiltrate elite social circles while scamming banks and hotels.

She was convicted in 2019 and served 19 months in prison before being released to house arrest in New York City in 2022, where she is required to wear an ankle monitor, according to the Daily Mail.

The post gained attention as several internet users accused the Oscar winner of giving a criminal a platform.

One fan pointed out, “So this is….glamorizing crime.” A second observer highlighted Delvey’s crime history, writing, ‘She scammed a bunch of people, and I can’t even believe she’s a ‘celebrity.’ Come on, Goop! Do better!”

While this social media user called the ad “distasteful,” a second branded it “horrible,” before warning, “Stop platforming criminals.”

This critic added, “Glorifying a con artist (who preyed on regular people, not just the wealthy) is an interesting look that says a lot about this company. What, are you hoping to get lessons in grifting from her?”

Another observer chimed in, “I don’t like promoting a criminal!” while this fan called the post “not goop-like.”

As fans continue to criticize Paltrow’s affiliation with Delvey, it adds to the backlash she received over her remarks about society’s obsession with tech billionaires.

During a discussion with Kara Swisher in a recent episode of “The Goop Podcast,” Paltrow questioned why people idolize “these super rich white dudes” who influence society without concern for the consequences of their actions.

In no time, Paltrow received heat as many critics saw her comments as hypocritical. Per The Blast, some internet users pointed out the irony, given that the 53-year-old business mogul is extremely wealthy and comes from a privileged background, she is also part of the elite class she criticizes.

How Gwyneth Paltrow’s Comparison of Her High-Profile Exes Caused a Stir

With Paltrow once again under fire, controversial comments are nothing new for the “Iron Man” actress. Three weeks ago, a resurfaced clip from her appearance on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast caused a stir online after she opened up about intimate details involving exes Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck.

According to The Blast, Paltrow described Pitt as the “love-of-your-life” type, while calling Affleck “technically excellent.”

While some fans applauded her honesty and willingness to speak openly about such intimate matters, others criticized her for oversharing personal details.

“Shame on her. This is just so inappropriate. All she does is kiss and tell,” one user wrote. Another noted that if Pitt ranked his exes publicly, the online rage would likely be more.

When she isn’t making headlines with bold revelations, Paltrow is sharing candid confessions.

During a January 6 appearance on Amy Poehler’s “The Good Hang Podcast,” the “Marty Supreme” actress admitted that she missed smoking and hinted at returning to it.

She noted that despite her wellness-focused image, she always enjoyed smoking and may finally give in to the urge to continue. “You know, I decided when I’m like 87, I’m going to start smoking again,” she told Poehler, per The Blast.

Sanamama Founder Gabi Torres Works With a Medium to Create Intention-Filled Jewelry Loved by Taylor Swift

Sanamama Founder Gabi Torres Works With a Medium to Create Intention-Filled Jewelry Loved by Taylor Swift

Spiritual and sparkly! Jewelry designer Gabi Torres has created pieces loved by Taylor Swift, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Madelyn Cline, and it’s not just because they shimmer in every light.

The rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and ankles from her brand, Sanamama, double as intention-setting tools thanks to Torres’ process of sourcing rare gemstones from around the world before handcrafting each item in 18k and 14k gold.

The Florida native, who began her career as an art therapist, used her healing background to create something that could be worn, and experienced, daily.

Gustavo Marmol

“I was working with crystals for a while and placing them in my client’s homes as energetic interior design. I felt like jewelry was lacking that same magic, so I custom designed a piece for myself. That piece sparked orders to come in and created a demand for what I was making,” she tells ET.

And it didn’t take long for celebrities to gravitate towards the designs, drawn to both their beauty and their energy.

“We use stones that carry a higher frequency, which assist in evolving. … These stones connect the wearer with a sense of grounding, abundance, love, calmness, and tranquility,” the founder says.

Taylor Swift/YouTube

To give each piece a deeper meaning, Torres enlists a spiritual team to help channel the purpose behind every design.

“I’ve worked with a medium for 12 years who channels an Ascended Master of Clarity and Magick called Saint Germain. Together, we connect to the power of the piece that I have created or will create. … Our intentions are specific and personalized to each piece,” she explains.

That mindset also makes it easy to justify starting an entire jewelry wardrobe, which is on display at Torres’ first brick-and-mortar boutique in Bay Harbor Islands, Florida.

Gustavo Marmol

“The energy I want to bring into my day influences the jewelry I choose to wear. It changes depending on whether I want to feel calm, manifest something positive, or stay grounded before a busy event,” she notes.

No matter how or where you style the line, prepare for someone to ask for the details.

“Everyone who is wearing Sanamama gets stopped at some point and complimented,” Torres spills.

2026 has already been a big year for Netflix, especially due to the release of War Machine, the sci-fi thriller starring Reacher’s Alan Ritchson. The impressive epic took the crown from The Rip (starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck) to become the most successful Netflix movie of the year so far, with over 125M views. Netflix’s latest movie taking over the world is Apex, which stars Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton. The film is still #2 on streaming charts after just over a week, losing the top spot to Michael B. Jordan’s new animated film, Swapped. Netflix has also had a few big TV shows to return this year, like The Night Agent, which has been positioned as its alternative to Prime Video’s Reacher. The Night Agent has also been renewed for Season 4, which is confirmed to be the final season of the show.

Netflix has no shortage of exciting movies and TV shows coming this year, and one of the most anticipated projects on the slate just got an exciting first look. This afternoon, Netflix previewed the first official image from its upcoming romantic comedy film, Voicemails for Isabelle, which stars Zoey Deutch (Nouvelle Vague, Everybody Wants Some!) and Nick Robinson (Maid, Love, Simon). The streamer has also confirmed a June 19 release date for the project. Nick Offerman, famed for his performances in Parks and Recreation and The Last of Us, has also been tapped for a key role in the film, along with Lukas Gage, Harry Shum Jr., Megan Danso, Gil Bellows, Toby Sandeman, and Spencer Lord. Voicemails for Isabelle was written and directed by Leah McKendrick, who previously starred in, wrote, and directed Scrambled (co-starring Clancy Brown). She’s also known for playing the newscaster in I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025).

The Academy Has Decided
Your Perfect Film Is…

Your answers have pointed to one Oscar Best Picture winner above all others. This is the film that was made for the way your mind works.

Parasite

You are drawn to films that operate on multiple levels simultaneously — that begin in one genre and quietly, brilliantly migrate into another. Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite is a film about class, desire, and the architecture of inequality that manages to be darkly funny, deeply suspenseful, and genuinely shocking across a single extraordinary running time. Your instinct is for cinema that hides its true intentions until the moment it’s ready to reveal them. Parasite is exactly that — a film that rewards close attention and punishes assumptions, right up to its devastating final image.

Everything Everywhere All at Once

You want it all — and this film gives you all of it. The Daniels’ Everything Everywhere All at Once is one of the most maximalist films ever made: action comedy, multiverse sci-fi, family drama, existential crisis, and a genuinely earned emotional core that sneaks up on you amid the chaos. You are someone who responds to ambition, who doesn’t want cinema to choose between being entertaining and being meaningful. This film refuses that choice entirely. It is overwhelming by design, and its overwhelming nature is precisely the point — because the feeling of being crushed by infinite possibility is exactly what it’s about.

Oppenheimer

You are drawn to cinema on a grand scale — films that understand history not as a backdrop but as a force, and that place their characters inside that force and watch what happens. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is a film about the terrifying gap between what we can do and what we should do, told with the full weight of one of the most consequential moments in human history behind it. You want your films to feel important without feeling self-important — to earn their ambition through sheer craft and the gravity of their subject. Oppenheimer does exactly that. It is enormous, complicated, and refuses easy comfort.

Birdman

You are drawn to films that foreground their own construction — that make the how of the filmmaking part of the what it’s about. Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman, shot to appear as a single continuous take, is cinema examining itself through the cracked mirror of a fading actor’s ego. You respond to formal daring, to the feeling that a film is doing something that probably shouldn’t be possible. Michael Keaton’s performance and Emmanuel Lubezki’s restless camera create something genuinely unlike anything else — a film that is simultaneously about creativity, relevance, self-destruction, and the impossibility of ever truly knowing if your work means anything at all.

No Country for Old Men

You are drawn to cinema that trusts silence, that refuses to explain itself, and that treats dread as a form of meaning. The Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men is a film about the arrival of a new kind of evil — implacable, arbitrary, and utterly indifferent to the moral frameworks we use to make sense of the world. It is one of the most formally controlled films ever made, and its controlled restraint is what makes it so terrifying. You want your films to haunt you, not comfort you. You are not interested in resolution if resolution would be dishonest. No Country for Old Men is honest in a way that most cinema never dares to be.

What Is ‘Voicemails for Isabelle’ About?

Netflix has released a brief synopsis for Voicemails for Isabelle, which reads as follows:

“Zoey plays Jill, a young woman grappling with the loss of her sister, Isabelle (played by Ciara Bravo. Unable to let go, Jill continues calling Isabelle’s old phone, leaving a series of raw, deeply personal, and often hilarious voicemails. What she doesn’t realize is that the number now belongs to Wes, a charming real estate agent played by Nick Robinson. As Jill keeps talking and Wes keeps listening, an unexpected connection begins to take shape.”

Voicemails for Isabelle has all the laughs and charm of any classic rom-com, but it also pushes out of the boundaries of the genre with a “poignant story of sisterhood and grief.” The film is as funny as it is sweet — perfect for fans of Notting Hill and Sleepless in Seattle.

Check out the first images from Voicemails for Isabelle above and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the film, which premieres on June 19.

Hugh Jackman Makes Major Divorce Move Before Met Gala

Published

on

Hugh Jackman at Marvel Studios 'Deadpool

Hugh Jackman’s latest public appearance with Sutton Foster may have looked glamorous on the surface, but major changes were unfolding behind the scenes long before the couple stepped onto the Met Gala carpet together.

Just weeks before confirming their relationship in front of cameras, the actor quietly made a significant financial move tied directly to his divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness.

Before Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster made headlines with their Met Gala debut, the actor reportedly took another major step toward separating his life from ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness.

The longtime Hollywood couple finalized their divorce in June 2025 after nearly three decades together, but several shared assets still needed to be divided. One of the biggest properties connected to the split was a luxury New York apartment the pair purchased together years earlier.

According to the Daily Mail, the Manhattan property quietly returned to the market on March 31, only weeks before Jackman appeared publicly with Foster at fashion’s biggest night.

Originally listed in 2022 for roughly $38.9 million, the sprawling apartment later received a dramatic price cut of approximately $10 million. The residence is now reportedly listed at $ 28.75 million.

Located in the upscale West Village neighborhood, the massive apartment stretches across three floors inside a luxury high-rise overlooking the Hudson River and Manhattan skyline.

The property itself became symbolic of the life Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness once built together.

The former couple purchased the apartment in 2008 for around $21.1 million and later moved into another nearby Manhattan property in Chelsea.

The enormous residence spans more than 1,000 square meters and includes five bedrooms, six bathrooms, multiple living spaces, a library, a recreation room, and a professional gourmet kitchen.

The top floor reportedly features a lavish primary suite complete with a studio, sauna, spa bath, and large dressing areas.

Additional amenities inside the luxury building include a fitness center, concierge service, and a full-time doorman.

Reports surrounding the listing suggested the sale formed part of the former couple’s ongoing divorce settlement.

Meanwhile, Furness is said to have taken ownership of another shared New York property after reportedly buying out Jackman’s stake in a separate Manhattan penthouse valued at around $24 million.

Hugh Jackman And Sutton Foster Make Relationship Public

As property negotiations continued privately, Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster took a much more public step in their relationship.

The pair officially made their red carpet debut together at this year’s Met Gala after confirming their romance earlier in 2025.

Jackman arrived wearing a classic black tuxedo paired with a velvet jacket and polished dress shoes, while Foster stunned in a shimmering gold one-shoulder gown accessorized with a jeweled clutch.

Throughout the evening, photographers repeatedly captured the pair sharing affectionate glances and appearing completely comfortable together in front of cameras.

The appearance marked a major shift for Jackman, who attended the 2024 Met Gala alone following his separation from Furness and skipped the event entirely the following year during the height of the divorce fallout.

Before their split, Jackman and Furness had frequently attended the event together, with their final joint appearance taking place in 2023.

Fans Slam Hugh Jackman Over Met Gala Appearance

Not everyone reacted positively to Hugh Jackman’s public romance reveal with Sutton Foster.

Social media quickly filled with criticism from fans who felt uncomfortable seeing the actor appear publicly with a new partner so soon after the highly publicized end of his marriage.

Some commenters specifically defended Furness while questioning Jackman’s choices.

“Thumbs down! It’s forever team Debbie over here!!” one person wrote online.

Another simply commented, “Poor Deborra,” while another critic added, “Not a fan.”

The criticism intensified as more reactions surfaced throughout the night.

“I lost big respect for him,” one social media user admitted, while another bluntly wrote, “Yes, pathetic.”

Other critics labeled the Met Gala appearance “disrespectful” and “classless” as the debate around Jackman’s personal life continued to spread online.

Divorce Fallout Continues Around Hugh Jackman

MEGA

Even though the divorce itself has officially been finalized, the ripple effects surrounding Hugh Jackman’s split from Deborra-Lee Furness continue drawing intense attention.

The former couple announced their separation in 2023 after 27 years of marriage, shocking fans who had long viewed them as one of Hollywood’s strongest relationships.

Since then, every development involving Jackman’s personal life has faced intense scrutiny, from his relationship with Foster to ongoing property decisions connected to the divorce settlement.

The relisting of the West Village apartment only added another emotional layer to the situation because of how closely tied the property was to their years together.

At the same time, Jackman’s increasingly public appearances with Foster signal that he is moving fully into a new chapter of his life, regardless of the criticism surrounding the transition.
