Jon Bernthal has spent much of his career playing men who look like they’re approximately three seconds away from doing something extremely violent, and this filmmight be the purest distillation of that particular talent. Before he became our favorite, well, Punisher for Marvel, Bernthal made the unwise decision to join Brad Pitt on the inside of a Sherman tank for one of the most relentlessly grim World War II films ever made.
Fury, from the acclaimed director David Ayer, is essentially the ground-level brutality of Saving Private Ryan shoved into the claustrophobic confines of Das Boot. And it’s available to stream on Netflix in supported territories. Set during the final weeks of World War II in April 1945, Fury follows hardened U.S. Army sergeant Don “Wardaddy” Collier (Pitt) and the crew of his Sherman tank as Allied forces push deeper into Germany. Their already dangerous mission becomes even more precarious when an inexperienced young soldier joins their battle-scarred unit, and he struggles to adapt to the emerging horrors that begin to surround them.

Your Fate Has Been Calculated You’d Survive In…
Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

The Resistance, Zion
The Matrix
You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.
You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.
The Wasteland
Mad Max
The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.
You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.
Los Angeles, 2049
Blade Runner
You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.
You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.
Arrakis
Dune
Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.
Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.
A Galaxy Far, Far Away
Star Wars
The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

Was ‘Fury’ Successful?
Fury was an immense hit when it was released, grossing over $211 million worldwide, while it opened at No. 1 domestically with $23.5 million, and in doing so, knocking Gone Girl out of the top spot. Critics also found that the film had a lot going for it, with Fury accumulating a 75% score on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and an even better 84% score from audiences. It was felt that the portrayal of combat and war were particular highlights, even if it didn’t quite meet its bigger and grander ambitions.
Collider’s review believed that the film couldn’t escape its central thesis and that, despite its bold ambitions, it didn’t tell us more than what we as audience members were already aware of. As the review observed, “war is hell,” but despite its spectacular action, Fury “never take[s] us anywhere beyond what we already know.” Even so, it applauded the film’s willingness to portray deeply flawed American soldiers, concluding that the movie “can hit with a bang,” even if it “never much room to maneuver,” awarding it a B-.
Fury is streaming on Netflix in international territories.

Anne Hathaway

If we had compiled this list a year ago, we might have seen someone like Emma Stone in this slot. But the truth is, no one is having as hot of a year quite like the Hollywood darling herself, Anne Hathaway. Making her name way back when in The Princess Diaries, Hathaway has maintained a solid stance in Hollywood since. One of the world’s most versatile performers, Hathaway has proven she can provide a guy-wrenching performance in Les Misérables while then playing a Prima Donna diva actress in Ocean’s 8, the former for which she earned an Academy Award. The range is uncanny. Hathaway’s presence has always been stable, but this year, her status as a crucial player in the industry skyrocketed. Her acting prowess has enabled her to be part of some of cinema’s finest films, including Brokeback Mountain, and to work with everyone from Christopher Nolan to Robert De Niro.
By the conclusion of the summer, Hathaway has led four major films— Mother Mary, The Devil Wears Prada 2, The Odyssey, and The End of Oak Street. This fall, she’ll appear in the upcoming Verity. It’s been a prosperous year for the star as she’s shown such incomparable range in each project. Leading with an unmatched work ethic and sincere kindness, Hathaway is the type of individual you can’t help but champion their career. Hathaway is the face of modern Hollywood because she represents a quarter-century of longevity and success. She has the ability to perform in any genre you task her wth, from romantic comedy to hard science. She faced early-career pushback, and yet she prevailed without a fight. Hathaway represents nostalgia for some and a cultural staple for all. It may be hyperbolizing, but the down-to-earth star could see a part of her being the next Meryl Streep, her beloved co-star.

Glen Powell

Some Hollywood stars seemingly come out of nowhere. One minute they have small parts in films, the next they’re on their way to being Hollywood’s leading man. Such was the case for Glen Powell. In his younger years, you may have caught him on the kids’ reality show Endurance or caught him in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, but he truly rose to prominence in the two-season series Scream Queens. From there, it was a rise to Hollywood supremacy thanks to his star turn in Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters. From there, he became the leading-man go-to, bringing his romantic charm to Anyone But You and his action prowess to Hit Man, which he also wrote and produced.
Powell exudes an old-school movie star charm. He is an effortless heartthrob who knows that his good looks define his leading man status, but there’s much more to him. The duality and range are profound. In recent times, he’s proven he’s willing to go ugly. Chad Powers anyone? At his core, he evokes a throwback action star vibe à la Tom Cruise and Harrison Ford. He channels an aura beyond the rugged protagonist; Powell brings humor, warmth, and self-awareness to his roles that make him affable and accessible. His real-life background in Texas and active lifestyle match the confident characters he plays on screen. Powell has proven an eagerness to continually reshape his genre image so as not to bore his audiences. Variety is the spice of life!

Jenna Ortega

There are many individuals who could represent the Gen Z Princess, and Jenna Ortega tops that discussion. Whether made by design or not, Ortega has established herself as today’s biggest scream queen. From Scream to X, with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in between, Ortega’s ability to become the genre’s go-to horror actress has established herself a solid niche. It’s through those projects that helped earn her the titular role in Wednesday. In taking on the iconic Addams daughter, she proved she not only is an engaging actress, she’s a streaming darling. Earning multiple nominations for the part, Wednesday has remained one of Netflix’s biggest projects. In the role, Ortega uses deadpan precision and subtle microexpressions to tell a story without words. With one glare, you know exactly what she’s thinking.
At a young age, she took an active creative role in her projects, including serving as an executive producer. By having a stronger hold on curating her career, Ortega is establishing the direction she seeks to head. Her transition from child actor to dark, edgy, and critically acclaimed adult roles has opened the door to some incredible upcoming projects, including the films Klara and the Sun and The Great Beyond, as well as Wednesday’s third season. Ortega has spoken about being a Latinx performer in Hollywood and uses her experience to advance visibility and diversity, especially in the horror sphere. Ortega is slowly dominating Hollywood; expect the rise to continue.

Michael B. Jordan

An Oscar doesn’t prove an artist’s greatness, but it sure doesn’t hurt! If there’s one actor who has had such a prolific ascension to the top, it’s the astounding Michael B. Jordan. An actor whose emotional control is what makes his complex characters so nuanced and engaging, Jordan continues to dazzle in every project he’s a part of. Beginning his career with profound roles on The Wire and Friday Night Lights, Jordan never shied away from mature projects. He partook in two major franchises, including the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Creed, in which he directed Creed III. His collaborations with Ryan Coogler became one of the most fruitful parts of his career, as his dual roles in Sinners earned him an Academy Award. As a performer, Jordan builds characters from the inside out. From subtle expressions to transforming his physical presence, he brings an extreme amount of swagger that makes his characters feel lived in. Jordan is not only the face of modern Hollywood, but he was also once the cover face of People’s Sexiest Man Alive.
Jordan is reshaping the landscape for leading men. He can easily shift from blockbuster acting to richly character-driven performances. Jordan isn’t just stuck in a box. He can portray both hero and villain, protagonist and antagonist, with a flip of the switch. Sinners’ success was not only an integral film in the Black-led blockbuster landscape, but also proof that original-concept blockbusters are what audiences seek. His ability to lead the film raised his stock exponentially. And the Oscar gold was simply incoming on the bloody cake. Jordan has spent more than 20 years in the business, and he’s truly coming into his own during this newfound chapter. Following his major award win, he swooped into the world of animation with the adorable Swapped. Now, he has two massive projects coming down the line: a remake of The Thomas Crown Affairand the highly anticipated Miami Vice ’85. The future is bright in neon lights!
To be a powerhouse in Hollywood these days doesn’t mean just being an incredible actor. It means being a groundbreaking creative force. One of the most prominent multi-hyphenate artists is Australian star Margot Robbie. As one of the industry’s biggest assets, Robbie’s rise to the top has been made possible in part by big projects that just kept getting bigger along the way. From a breakout role in The Wolf of Wall Street, bringing Harley Quinn perfectly to life in Suicide Squad, and earning an Oscar nod for I, Tonya, Robbie wasn’t finished. In 2023, she made Barbie a worldwide blockbuster. Robbie refused to be typecast as a ditzy blonde. She brings a fearlessness to her characters, immersing herself with a great emotional range. Whether taking on iconic characters or building them from the ground up, Robbie brings a nuanced, full-bodied performance to each part.
Her impact on Hollywood is twofold. Not only can she anchor a blockbuster, but she can carry an indie project. She also serves as a co-founder of LuckyChap Entertainment, a production company that champions bold, female-led stories in Hollywood. The company has also been responsible for giving female creators a place to play, including Emerald Fennell, who was behind her three powerhouse films and collaborated with Robbie on Wuthering Heights. Robbie remains a beacon for cultural phenomena, both on screen and on the red carpet. Her presence serves as a reminder that hard work pays off when you hit the ground running and make the work happen for yourself. In addition to her producing some major projects over the next few years, she’ll be joining the cast of the upcoming Ocean’s Eleven prequel.

The Academy Has Decided Your Perfect Film Is…
Your answers have pointed to one Oscar Best Picture winner above all others. This is the film that was made for the way your mind works.
Parasite
You are drawn to films that operate on multiple levels simultaneously — that begin in one genre and quietly, brilliantly migrate into another. Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite is a film about class, desire, and the architecture of inequality that manages to be darkly funny, deeply suspenseful, and genuinely shocking across a single extraordinary running time. Your instinct is for cinema that hides its true intentions until the moment it’s ready to reveal them. Parasite is exactly that — a film that rewards close attention and punishes assumptions, right up to its devastating final image.

Everything Everywhere All at Once
You want it all — and this film gives you all of it. The Daniels’ Everything Everywhere All at Once is one of the most maximalist films ever made: action comedy, multiverse sci-fi, family drama, existential crisis, and a genuinely earned emotional core that sneaks up on you amid the chaos. You are someone who responds to ambition, who doesn’t want cinema to choose between being entertaining and being meaningful. This film refuses that choice entirely. It is overwhelming by design, and its overwhelming nature is precisely the point — because the feeling of being crushed by infinite possibility is exactly what it’s about.
Oppenheimer
You are drawn to cinema on a grand scale — films that understand history not as a backdrop but as a force, and that place their characters inside that force and watch what happens. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is a film about the terrifying gap between what we can do and what we should do, told with the full weight of one of the most consequential moments in human history behind it. You want your films to feel important without feeling self-important — to earn their ambition through sheer craft and the gravity of their subject. Oppenheimer does exactly that. It is enormous, complicated, and refuses easy comfort.
Birdman
You are drawn to films that foreground their own construction — that make the how of the filmmaking part of the what it’s about. Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman, shot to appear as a single continuous take, is cinema examining itself through the cracked mirror of a fading actor’s ego. You respond to formal daring, to the feeling that a film is doing something that probably shouldn’t be possible. Michael Keaton’s performance and Emmanuel Lubezki’s restless camera create something genuinely unlike anything else — a film that is simultaneously about creativity, relevance, self-destruction, and the impossibility of ever truly knowing if your work means anything at all.
No Country for Old Men
You are drawn to cinema that trusts silence, that refuses to explain itself, and that treats dread as a form of meaning. The Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men is a film about the arrival of a new kind of evil — implacable, arbitrary, and utterly indifferent to the moral frameworks we use to make sense of the world. It is one of the most formally controlled films ever made, and its controlled restraint is what makes it so terrifying. You want your films to haunt you, not comfort you. You are not interested in resolution if resolution would be dishonest. No Country for Old Men is honest in a way that most cinema never dares to be.

Robert Pattinson

My, how the world has changed since Robert Pattinson broke out as Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise. He knew he had to shed the past before being forever typecast as a brooding, glowing ancient vampire, so he made a career out of defying the archetype. Pattinson transitioned away from the mainstream teen idol work to celebrate indie cinema. He took on parts with the Safdie brothers in Good Time, starred alongside Willem Dafoe in Robert Eggers‘ gritty, psychological horror film The Lighthouse, and played complex roles in films such as The Lost City of Z and High Life. When it was time to return to the blockbusters, he collaborated with Christopher Nolan in the time-bending spy thriller Tenet and eventually became the face of the Caped Crusader in The Batman.
Taking a pit stop in smaller films and nuanced projects allowed Pattinson to prove he can do more than franchise work. His versatility in art house and auteur cinema built him a daring resume where he could explore gritty, eccentric, and psychologically complex characters rather than leading-man parts. He always knew he could be one; he just wanted to grow into it. And based on his explosive 2026, he has proven just as much. In addition to joining Nolan for his star-studded The Odyssey, he led the romantic dark comedy The Drama and will appear as the iconic Chris Hansen in the A24 crime thriller Primetime. Of course, he will close out the calendar by joining several of his co-stars and fellow names on this list for Dune: Part Three. Over the next few years, Pattinson will continue to balance blockbusters with passion projects, proving that his future is bright. Pattinson also happens to be a meme machine thanks to his relatable content during his press tours. Authenticity is a reason why audiences seek out actors. Pattinson is just that.
Ryan Gosling

Breaking out of child stardom isn’t always an option for all young performers. For Ryan Gosling, he defied the odds, establishing a genuinely versatile resume along the way. He started off as a cast member on The Mickey Mouse Club before turning into his own entity at the start of the 21st century. Between becoming everyone’s ultimate crush in The Notebook and earning an early Oscar nomination for Half Nelson, the path to the top was just a matter of the roles he played. His range is part of why he’s one of the greatest out there. He can take on a stunt driver in Drive, a jazz pianist in La La Land, bring gritty action to the screen in Blade Runner 2049, and then find comedic action in The Nice Guys. Not only is genre versatility his greatest asset, but he’s also like a real-life Ken doll because he can take on any character career. He also happens to be a brilliant scene partner, elevating anyone he shares a screen with. Puppet included.
There is no single mold for Gosling. The genre-jumping from indie dramas to box-office blockbusters has allowed him to mold himself to whatever the project requires. Though his only other credit in 2026 will be producing the upcoming Love of Your Life, he redefined science fiction in Project Hail Mary. His performance was tender, kind, and endearing, essentially providing a one-man movie for half the film. Just a few weeks ago, Gosling traded in his Mouseketeer letterman jacket for Ghost Rider’s. Gosling’s proven track record has allowed him to do whatever he wants. His dream was to be in a Star Wars project and play a superhero in the MCU. He’s now achieved both, becoming the future face of two pop culture juggernaut franchises. As one of the most affable and endearing presences in Hollywood, Gosling is destined to be one of the all-time greats. His classic Hollywood charm, paired with his understated fame and magnetism, makes him a leader of his generation.
Timothée Chalamet

Over the past few years, the name on everybody’s lips has been Timothée Chalamet. The young actor started his career with a number of smaller roles alongside major stars, including Interstellar and Hostiles, and earned more prominent parts in independent projects like Call Me By Your Name and Lady Bird. Willing to mix things up, it was the 2020s that really propelled his name into the Hollywood conversation as the face of the next generation. Leading projects like Dune, Wonka, A Complete Unknown, and Marty Supreme, Chalamet isn’t just in-demand; he’s a box office powerhouse. Chalamet represents a timeless quality on screen. He can play a character from any era or world while maintaining his pure essence.
Chalamet has proven his acting prowess by tackling roles that demand intense emotional range and bold risks. His quiet tenderness as Elio Perlman helped earn him his spot as Paul Atreides, as his more eccentric explosiveness as Willy Wonka and Marty Mauser proved he was the perfect person to lead into Paul’s darker turn in the upcoming Dune: Part Three. His artistic credibility has made him a smart choice for studio executives. He represents a softer, more fluid modern masculinity that has helped reshape leading men in Hollywood. His deep range and ability to transform into the parts he plays have made him the perfect chameleon on screen. It’s only time before he earns his first Academy Award.
Tom Holland

There are some very lucky people who had the great experience of seeing Tom Holland on the West End in Billy Elliot. Little did they know at the time they were watching arguably the greatest Peter Parkers of all time. One of the most dedicated actors in Hollywood, Holland’s claim to fame is most certainly donning the Spider-Man costume in the MCU, but his range beyond the spandex has made him one of the most profitable actors in the industry. At a young age, he earned critical praise for his performance in the disaster thriller The Impossible. He continued to take on a range of roles to showcase more mature aspects and balance the nonstop onslaught of Spider-Man. Though the film may not have been critically praised, Holland proved he could go beyond the MCU to be an action star in Uncharted. Holland’s great discipline has allowed him to ease into the physically demanding world of action films. His background in dance, acrobatics, and athletics has made him a sought-after asset.
Even on the small screen, specifically in Wolf Hall and The Crowded Room, he has proven that he’s an asset. Holland has an endearing nature that comes with playing Peter Parker. There’s a wholesome sincerity that is innate to his character. And yet, those traits are found in his lesser-known parts. He can play charming, but it’s gritty roles in the non-franchise films, like Cherry and The Devil All the Time, that showcased how he can move beyond the web-slinger. Holland commanded the screen alongside the stellar ensemble in The Odyssey, once again showing he can stretch his skills in other genres. Holland has a squeaky-clean image that has made him the ultimate role model for younger audiences. And how can you not adore him after his lip sync of “Umbrella?” Holland moved up onto this list after continuing to help his films break global records. Taking on Fred Astaire in the upcoming biopic is destined to be the ultimate career gamechanger.
Zendaya
Zendaya as Athena in ‘The Odyssey’Image via Universal Pictures
Advertisement
Being a Disney kid can provide some young actors with the incredible launch pad they need to become a star. Finding a way to capitalize on it is the key. There is a generation of fans who have grown up with Zendaya, tracking her career from Shake It Up and Dancing with the Stars to her shift into films like Challengers and as Rue on Euphoria. The moment she took on the darker role, Hollywood began to view her differently, giving her a chance to showcase her skills in a new way. She earned herself major roles in the Spider-Man franchise and Dune. Lately, her resume may have been filled with the two, but she also found time to star alongside Pattinson in The Drama, which marked the first of three films together in 2026.
Zendaya is not an explosive performer. She doesn’t need to shout to dominate a scene. She listens and reacts in subtle ways that provide an authenticity to her characters. She offers a rich emotional honesty to the screen. Whether it’s Rue, where she presents raw pain and the messiness that comes with addiction, finds the emotional maturity of balancing the hearts of two men like Tashi in Challengers, or brings an ethereal presence as Chani and Athena, Zendaya can do it all. Though we saw her use her triple-threat assets in The Greatest Showman, we are begging for another musical. Zendaya is a highly disciplined actress and advocate for diversity and proper representation in Hollywood. After a major chapter in her career has closed, she’s tagging into another franchise, lending her voice to the upcoming Shrek 5.

Thanks to his performance as Billy Butcher in all five seasons of The Boys, Karl Urban has quietly become one of the biggest action stars in the world in the last few years. However, long before he was cracking Supe’s skulls with a tire iron, he was starring in other massive franchises like The Lord of the Rings and even Marvel. Urban stole the show in Thor: Ragnarök, starring opposite big names like Chris Hemsworth and Cate Blanchett, and he’s famous for his role as Eomer in Peter Jackson’s original Lord of the Rings trilogy. Unfortunately, he wasn’t one of the stars enlisted to reprise his role in the 2027 film, The Hunt for Gollum. Urban is also a tenured Star Trek veteran who played Bones in Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), and even Star Trek Beyond (2016).
Karl Urban’s latest big project that has fans around the world talking is Mortal Kombat II, the sequel to the 2021 Mortal Kombat film that debuted in theaters and on HBO Max at the same time. Urban did not star in the original film, but he made his debut in the sequel as Johnny Cage, one of the most iconic characters from the Mortal Kombat universe. Mortal Kombat 2 failed to get off the ground at the box office, grossing only $129 million against an $80 million budget, but the film has since become one of the most-watched titles in the world on HBO Max. The film earned a solid 64% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but it scored a Verified Hot 86% rating on the audience-driven Popcornmeter.

You believe that love, loyalty, and doing what’s right are not naive sentiments — they are the most powerful forces in any world, magical or otherwise.
The Wizarding World is a place of wonder hidden in plain sight, where learning is transformative and the bonds you form at school follow you into every battle.
You would flourish here because you take both the magic and the friendships seriously — and you understand that one without the other is incomplete.
Harry Potter’s universe ultimately rewards those who choose to stand for something even when standing is terrifying.
That choice — made quietly, without guarantee — is something you understand completely.
Westeros · The Known World
Game of Thrones
You see the world clearly — its power structures, its hypocrisies, its brutal arithmetic — and you are not paralysed by that clarity. You use it.
Westeros is a world that rewards intelligence, adaptability, and the willingness to understand that every alliance is also a negotiation.
You would survive here — possibly thrive here — because you don’t confuse the world as it is with the world as you’d like it to be.
Game of Thrones is a story about what happens when the idealists and the realists collide. You are sharp enough to know which one lasts longer.
Winter always comes. You are already prepared.
The United Federation of Planets
Star Trek
You believe the future is worth building — that curiosity, cooperation, and the expansion of understanding are not just ideals but the most practical path forward for any civilisation.
Star Trek is a universe where the questions matter as much as the answers, and where encountering something utterly alien is cause for wonder rather than fear.
You would belong here because you are fundamentally optimistic about what intelligence and decency can achieve — while being honest about how hard that achievement is.
The Federation is the universe’s most ambitious thought experiment: what if we actually got better?
You don’t just hope that’s possible. You think it’s the only thing worth working toward.

What Is ‘Mortal Kombat II’ About?
The official synopsis for Mortal Kombat II, which also stars Adeline Rudolph as Kitana and Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn, reads as follows: “From New Line Cinema comes the latest high-stakes installment in the blockbuster video game franchise in all its brutal glory, Mortal Kombat II. This time, the fan favorite champions — now joined by Johnny Cage himself — are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.” While the ending of Mortal Kombat II certainly alludes to their being another entry coming in the franchise, Mortal Kombat 3 has yet to officially receive a green light to move forward. Warner Bros. is likely still deliberating the future of the franchise after the 2026 sequel failed to break even at the box office.
Check out Mortal Kombat II on HBO Max and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the Mortal Kombat franchise.
With the highly anticipated Verity on the way, Dakota Johnson is eyeing her second consecutive hit after a disappointing streak that lasted longer than she would have liked. In 2025, she starred in the hit romantic drama Materialists, which also featured Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal, and grossed nearly $110 million worldwide against a reported budget of $20 million. Remarkably, Materialists was a bigger hit than Johnson’s first superhero film as a lead, Madame Web. Verity, featuring Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett, is expected to deliver results similar to last year’s The Housemaid, which was also based on a book by Colleen Hoover. It might even become Johnson’s biggest hit since her breakout film, which turned 10 last year.
Verity marks Johnson’s return to the erotic thriller genre, which she became synonymous with in the early stages of her career as a leading star. Her breakout film, which remains the highest-grossing erotic thriller of all time, is currently streaming on Peacock in the United States, but not for much longer. The film was also based on a bestselling novel, and was directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. It grossed a massive $570 million worldwide against a reported budget of $40 million, despite having received mostly mediocre reviews.

The Highest-Grossing Steamy Movie Ever Heats Up Peacock
By now you’ve probably guessed that we’re talking about Fifty Shades of Grey, which also featured Jamie Dornan, Jennifer Ehle, and Marcia Gay Harden. The movie now holds a 25% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the consensus reads, “While creatively better endowed than its print counterpart, Fifty Shades of Grey is a less than satisfying experience on the screen.” The film spawned two sequels — Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed — directed by the late James Foley. Shot back-to-back, the sequels received worse reviews, but grossed a combined total of more than $700 million worldwide. Along with Fifty Shades of Grey, they’ll be removed from Peacock on September 1. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
Matthew McConaughey on the red carpetImage via David Parry/PA Images/INSTARimages
Last week, Matthew McConaughey made something of an acting comeback with The Rivals of Amziah King, a neo-Western crime movie that debuted in around 600 theaters nationwide and has so far grossed a little under $2 million. It marks McConaughey’s first live-action role in a theatrical feature since 2019’s The Gentlemen. During these last seven years, the Oscar-winner voiced the lead character in Sing 2 and headlined the Apple TV thriller The Lost Bus, directed by Paul Greengrass. McConaughey transitioned from matinée idol status to critical darling some time in the 2010s, culminating in an Oscar win for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club, and a lead role in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. In this transitional period, McConaughey starred in a potential franchise-starter that received positive reviews and delivered solid box-office results, but never actually spawned a sequel.
The movie in question is currently streaming in the United States on Peacock, but only for a little while longer. It was released in 2011, just two years after the last of McConaughey’s romantic comedies, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, and a year before the so-called “McConaissance” began with the Southern Gothic drama Mud. The film was directed by the debut filmmaker Brad Furman and based on a series of novels written by Michael Connelly, whose work has also served as the basis for the long-running Bosch franchise on Prime Video.

Collider Exclusive · Taylor Sheridan Universe Quiz Which Taylor Sheridan Show Do You Belong In? Yellowstone · Landman · Tulsa King · Mayor of Kingstown
Four worlds. All of them brutal, complicated, and built on power, loyalty, and the price of survival. Taylor Sheridan doesn’t write heroes — he writes people who do what they have to do and live with the cost. Ten questions will reveal which one of his worlds you were made for.

⚖️Mayor of Kingstown

01
Where does your power come from? In Sheridan’s world, everyone has leverage. The question is what kind.
02
Who do you put first, no matter what? Loyalty in Sheridan’s universe is always absolute — and always costly.
03
Someone crosses a line. How do you respond? Every Sheridan protagonist has a line. What matters is what happens after it’s crossed.
04
Where do you feel most in your element? Sheridan’s worlds are as much about place as they are about people.
05
How do you feel about operating in the grey? Nobody in a Sheridan show has clean hands. The question is how they carry the dirt.
06
What are you actually fighting to hold onto? Every Sheridan character is fighting a war. The real question is what they’re defending.
07
How do you lead? Authority in Sheridan’s world is never given — it’s established, maintained, and constantly tested.
08
Someone new arrives and tries to change how things work. Your reaction? Every Sheridan show has an outsider disrupting an established order. Sometimes that outsider is you.
09
What has your position cost you? Nobody gets to where these characters are without paying for it. The bill is always personal.

10
When it’s over, what do you want people to say? Sheridan’s characters all know the ending is coming. The question is what they leave behind.

Sheridan Has Spoken You Belong In…
The show that claimed the most of your answers is the world you were built for. If two tied, both are shown — you’re complicated enough to straddle two Sheridan universes.

🤠 Yellowstone
🛢️ Landman
👑 Tulsa King
⚖️ Mayor of Kingstown
Advertisement
You are a Dutton — or you might as well be. You understand that some things are worth protecting at any cost, and that the modern world’s indifference to history, to land, to legacy, is not something you’re willing to accept quietly. You lead from the front, you carry your family’s weight without complaint, and when someone threatens what’s yours, you don’t escalate — you finish it. You’re not cruel. But you are absolute. In Yellowstone’s world, that combination of ferocity and loyalty doesn’t make you a villain. It makes you the only thing standing between everything that matters and everyone who wants to take it.
You thrive in the chaos of high-stakes negotiation, where the money is enormous, the margins are thin, and the wrong word in the wrong room can cost everyone everything. You’re a fixer — the person called when a situation is already on fire and needs someone with the nerve to walk into it. West Texas oil country rewards exactly what you are: sharp, adaptable, unsentimental, and absolutely clear-eyed about what people want and what they’ll do to get it. You’re not naive enough to think this world is fair. You’re smart enough to be the one deciding who it’s fair to.
You are a Dwight Manfredi — someone who has served their time, paid their dues, and arrived somewhere unexpected with nothing but their reputation and their wits. You adapt without losing yourself. You build loyalty through respect rather than fear, though you’re not above reminding people that the two aren’t mutually exclusive. Tulsa King is for people who are still standing when everyone assumed they’d be finished — who find, in an unfamiliar place, that they’re more capable than the world gave them credit for. You don’t need a throne. You build one, wherever you happen to land.
You carry the weight of a system that is broken by design, and you do it anyway — because someone has to, and because you’re the only one positioned to do it without the whole thing collapsing. Mike McLusky’s world is for people who are comfortable operating where there are no good options, only less catastrophic ones. You speak every language: law enforcement, criminal, political, human. That fluency makes you invaluable and it makes you a target. You’ve made your peace with both. Mayor of Kingstown belongs to people who understand that keeping the peace is not the same as being at peace — and who do the job regardless.

Watch Matthew McConaughey’s Dramatic Thriller on Peacock
By now you’ve probably guessed that we’re talking about The Lincoln Lawyer, the legal thriller in which McConaughey played the titular lawyer Mickey Haller. The movie also features Ryan Phillippe, Marisa Tomei, John Leguizamo, and Bryan Cranston. Produced on a reported budget of $40 million, the movie grossed nearly $90 million at the worldwide box office. It now holds a “Certified Fresh” 82% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the consensus reads, “It doesn’t offer any twists on the predictable courtroom thriller formula, but with a charming Matthew McConaughey leading its solid cast, The Lincoln Lawyer offers briskly enjoyable entertainment.” The film will be removed from Peacock on September 1. While McConaughey didn’t play Haller again, Netflix rebooted the property as a streaming series that has so far aired four seasons. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

Fergie and her ex-husband, Josh Duhamel, each celebrated their son Axl Jack’s 13th birthday by sharing rare family photos.
“13. 🎂🎂 Wow, my teenager,” the Black Eyed Peas alum, 51, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, August 29. “I’m saying that with tears in my eyes as I feel like the world is shifting beneath us.”
The singer posted a carousel of photos taken throughout her son’s life, starting with her cradling baby Axl Jack in her arms and continuing with his recent sports accomplishments.
“It’s so beautiful to watch you grow into the kind, silly, and cool dude you are,” Fergie added. “You are so tough bruh 🤣🤣. Happy 13th Axl Jack.”

On his own Instagram account, Duhamel, 53, shared more vintage photos of Axl Jack — including a sweet shot of him holding one of his newborn siblings. (Duhamel welcomed 2-year-old Shepherd and his sister Rocca De Leon, 3 months, with his second wife, Audra Mari.)
“Guess who’s a TEENAGER!? Holy crap that went fast,” the Transformers actor declared. “I love this dude so much. I couldn’t have asked for a more kind, compassionate and thoughtful kid. HAPPY 13th B-DAY AXL JACK!!!”
“With absolute love and respect, we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year,” they confirmed in a joint statement to Us at the time. “To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family.”
Us reported in November 2019 that Fergie and Duhamel reached a divorce settlement after two years of negotiating. Duhamel tied the knot with former Miss World America winner Mari, 32, at Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo, North Dakota, in September 2022.
In April, Duhamel revealed on the “Tomi Lahren Is Fearless” podcast that he and Fergie were on “good” terms nearly a decade after their split.
Josh Duhamel is opening up like never before about the joys, struggles and honest realities of being a dad — and his words about ex-wife Fergie might surprise you. The actor, who now juggles fatherhood with a blended family after moving on with Audra Mari, has been reflecting on what it means to truly show […]
“We have a really good relationship, thankfully. She’s a good person, she’s a good mom,” he said. “Thankfully she and my wife [Audra] have a good relationship.”

The actor went on to say, “It’s as good as it could possibly be. Thankfully. It’s very civil. There’s not any sort of hostility between anybody. So that’s really all I care about and I’d like to keep it that way.”
“[Childbirth was] not good. I mean, it was great ultimately, but it was really hard on Audra, to be honest,” Duhamel disclosed on Live With Kelly and Mark in July. “She had this thing called placenta previa, which means the placenta was sitting between the baby and the cervix. That’s how women used to bleed out back in the day.”
He explained, “Thankfully, we have modern medicine and everything, so we knew it was there and we knew that we had to do a scheduled C-section.”
Dick Van Dyke is still keeping fit after turning 100.
The Mary Poppins actor shared a part of his exercise regimen with his Instagram followers on Saturday, August 29, revealing that he uses an inversion table to stretch his full body. In the clip, Van Dyke can be seen laying upside down on the table before he adjusts his arms behind his head in a situp-style position.
“Keep moving,” he urged his followers.
Van Dyke celebrated his 100th birthday in December 2025 but has shown absolutely no signs of slowing down. The legendary actor even shared his approach to exercise in his 2025 book 100 Rules for Living to 100: An Optimist’s Guide to a Happy Life.

Explaining that he’s not a “wake up and go back to bed type,” Van Dyke noted that he can feel “stiffness creeping in here and there in my joints” if he misses too many days in the gym. However, the star admitted he sometimes has to “dangle” a reward for himself on days where he’s feeling “sluggish and reluctant.”
“[A] huge smoothie and/or frothy caffeine treat after my workout, full-body tingly exhilaration, sharper mind, sense of accomplishment to bask in for the rest of the day nap time [that is] well-earned, limber dancing in the days ahead,” he wrote.
Aside from his inversion table workout, Van Dyke mentioned that he frequently uses a “circuit” of exercise machines.
“Going from one machine to the next without a break, in a circle,” Van Dyke explained. “I start with sit-ups on the sit-up machine.”
Dick Van Dyke is 98 years old, and he couldn’t be happier. He and his wife, Arlene Silver, met at the SAG Awards in 2006 and tied the knot in 2012, despite Silver being 46 years younger. For Van Dyke, that didn’t matter. He recalled meeting Silver, 52, during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight’s […]
He continued, “Then, it’s lower body — I do all the leg machines religiously and repeatedly because my legs are two of my most cherished [parts]. And then the upper body. The secret ingredient to my gym time is the music. For some reason, our gym is sparsely attended in the early mornings — bad for the owners, but better for me and [wife Arlene Silver]. She knows how to get into the sound system, so she always brings my kind of stuff, and she really blasts it.”
Van Duke and Silver always try to start off their exercise routines early in the morning — which allows them to tackle the day with plenty of energy.

“It’s the music that really gets me going. … By the end of my workout, I’m in a sweaty rush, the blood flowing fingertips to toes and my spirits are soaring,” he wrote.
Dick Van Dyke isn’t letting his age get in the way of a workout! Rick Springfield, 76, shared a photo via Instagram on Friday, September 26 of the Mary Poppins star, 99, flexing his muscles at the gym. Clearly impressed by Van Dyke’s commitment to fitness, especially at his age, the musician quipped, “I thought […]
The Diagnosis: Murder alum told fans at a Vandy High Tea event just before his 100th birthday that he’d made two major lifestyle changes that may have contributed to him reaching the milestone age.
“I got rid of booze and cigarettes and all that stuff, which is probably why I’m still here,” Van Dyke revealed last December. “I think I was probably in my 50s before it dawned on me.”

If you’re 5’8″ or taller, finding one-piece swimwear that’s actually long enough can feel like a Goldilocks problem. The torso is too short, the straps dig in or the leg openings land somewhere they definitely shouldn’t. The good news? Long-torso swimsuits are designed to solve exactly those fit issues, giving taller frames more room without sacrificing a flattering silhouette.
As someone who has been scouring the internet for tall-friendly finds her whole life, I’m here to save you some time. These picks run the gamut from affordable, figure-flattering options to polished suits that feel worthy of a resort getaway. Shop picks from Amazon, Carve, Summersalt and more, starting at $30.

9 Long-Torso Swimsuits That Fit Tall Girls Just Right
1. My Favorite: This Amazon option is a strong pick if you want a suit that works with a longer frame without giving up a defined, feminine shape. “The sizing was great when I chose to size up for my long torso,” one ‘tall mom‘ shopper pointed out.
2. Runner-Up: The twist-front V-neck gives this bestseller a surprisingly polished look, while the long-torso cut provides extra room where taller shoppers need it most. Adjustable straps, removable padding, tummy-control construction and full coverage make it an especially practical choice for all-day pool or beach wear.
3. Editor-Approved: This is the kind of budget-friendly swimsuit that looks much more expensive than it is, thanks to its retro-inspired silhouette and strategic ruching. The long torso and adjustable straps are also designed to make the fit more forgiving, while the shirred front helps smooth and define your shape.
4. Designer-Looking: This all-day one-piece has the clean, elevated look you want when you’d rather look chic than overly sporty. Carve Designs specifically includes this one-piece among its long-torso offerings, making it a stylish answer to the too-short-in-the-body problem.

5. Everyday Essential: This strappy one-piece is the easy, wear-anywhere option for days when you want coverage, comfort and a flattering shape without the fuss. It comes in a range of colors, so you can find a version that feels classic rather than overly technical. Plus, the long-torso style delivers an extra 1.75-inches to prevent digging straps, stretched-out necklines and bottoms that ride up.
Finding pants that are equal parts comfortable and flattering can feel nearly impossible. Too often, relaxed silhouettes add bulk instead of creating the long, lean look we’re after, but the right pair of wide-leg pants does the exact opposite, elongating your legs while keeping you cool and comfortable. Luckily, I’ve scoured through the hundreds of […]

6. Sporty Spice: This plunging V-neck one-piece brings a little more personality to the long-torso category with a crisscross back that feels sporty without looking like lap-swim gear. Just note that fit can be especially individual with this style; reviews include both praise for its coverage, while some taller shoppers report that the proportions didn’t work for them, so check the measurements before ordering.
7. Worth the Splurge: Summersalt is the splurge-worthy pick for anyone tired of compromising on fit. The brand adds extra length specifically for longer torsos, while the signature asymmetrical design gives the classic one-piece a distinctly fashion-forward finish.
8. Wrap It Up: A wrap-inspired front is one of the easiest ways to make a one-piece feel instantly more flattering, and this version is specifically cut for a longer torso. It’s a particularly good option if you want extra length through the body while still creating some definition at the waist.
9. Subtle Cutout: If your ideal swimsuit is covered-up but never boring, this one hits the sweet spot with a small cutout above the belly button and extra length through the torso. It also has adjustable straps, sewn-in soft cups and fuller bottom coverage, so the flirtier detail doesn’t come at the expense of practicality.

“In my arrogance, I work out every day. I look great. I feel great. I’m doing everything right,” Manzo, 65, shared with her Instagram followers on Friday, August 28. “I eat super clean. I drink water. I don’t drink [alcohol except] socially … [and yet] I am a heart attack waiting to happen.”
Per Caroline, the shocking medical warning came about after her daughter, Lauren Manzo, urged her to get a “complete blood panel.”
“I had been resistant to it. As you know, I’ve been working out. I’m doing everything right. I’m eating right. I’m doing everything you’re supposed to do,” she recalled. “Finally, I said alright … It’s all about women’s health and wellness. About six weeks ago, I did a complete blood panel where they send it away and test for everything. I went to Labcorp and I got more work. They took seven or eight vials of blood. Got more bloodwork done.”

The extensive blood workup revealed that Caroline has a “fatty liver,” which occurs when “too much fat builds up in the liver,” per the Mayo Clinic. The Bravo personality also learned that she has “very little Vitamin B in [her] body” and is Vitamin D deficient.
“My toxin level is at 93 or 98%, a critical level,” she added. “This is from somebody, who in her arrogance, says, ‘I don’t need this. I’m great!’ No! They said to me, ‘You are doing everything right. It’s your genetics.’”
Manzo pledged that she is now in “beast mode” as she takes important steps to improve her health.
“I cannot believe that, for somebody who thought she was doing everything right, has so much going on in her body that I did not know about. Now, I have to fix all this, I have to combat it,” she acknowledged. “I want to share with you guys going forward. You think you’re great and you may not be.”
She encouraged her followers, “You need to get yourselves checked!”

The Manzo’d with Children alum promised there will be “more to come” as she undertakes a significant wellness regimen. Her Instagram video was met with many supportive messages from followers.
“Caroline I’m so glad you listened to your daughter,” Bravo superfan Kristin Chenoweth commented. “We all think if we ‘feel’ good we ARE good. I’m glad you now know the issues and can deal with them. Thank the Good Lord!”

Another fan wrote, “I love and appreciate your humility and vulnerability, especially now more than ever!”
In 2019, Manzo opened up about making lifestyle changes on her son Albie Manzo‘s “Dear Albie” podcast, explaining that she wanted to get in better shape prior to having cosmetic surgery to tighten loose neck skin.
“I just decided that I am going to stop eating bread and pasta and meat and soda and cake and all that kind of stuff,” she said at the time. “I’m basically vegetarian. Not completely, but basically. … And since the beginning of January, I’ve lost nearly 20 pounds.”
Tom Cruise is ready to drive into the fast lane once again after announcing he is reprising his beloved Days of Thunder role in a sequel film.
“Days of Thunder. Summer 2028,” Cruise, 64, announced via Instagram on Saturday, August 29, beside a photo of the action star posing beside pregnant Anne Hathaway in front of a neon-green race car at Daytona International Speedway.
In a follow-up upload, Cruise revealed that Hathaway, 43, will be his new costar in the film.
“I think it’s on,” he spoke into the camera in Instagram footage. “Annie? It looks ‘on’ to me, don’t you think?”
Tom Cruise has defined pop culture for decades through his movies and marriages. The actor was born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV in New York in July 1962. After becoming interested in acting as a child, he landed his first onscreen role in 1981’s Endless Love. Cruise went on to star in countless blockbusters and critically acclaimed […]
Hathaway, rocking a white cowboy hat and matching motorcycle jacket, noted that the camera did seem to be rolling.

“Hey,” she waved to the camera with a laugh. “What should we do?”
After Cruise noted that the two actors should “show ‘em,” they strolled over to the neon car.
“Now what?” he asked, to which Hathaway proclaimed that they should “make the movie.”
“I’m gonna have this baby, and then we’re gonna make this movie,” she quipped, referring to her pregnancy with her and husband Adam Shulman’s third child.

According to Cruise, it was a “good idea” for Hathaway to give birth pre-production.
“We’re coming out summer of 2028,” he added. “Don’t be late!”
Further details for the new Days of Thunder film have not yet been revealed at the time of publication. Varietyreports that the movie will be shot for IMAX screens and released exclusively in theaters for formats including Dolby Cinema and 4DX.
Per the outlet, Cruise will reprise his role as racecar driver Cole Trickle opposite Hathaway’s character as a new team owner and engineer. Jonathan Levine will direct the film, which Cruise is set to produce alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper.
This year has already delivered some incredible films — but no season does a blockbuster quite like summer. From Tom Cruise’s latest — and potentially final — addition to the Mission: Impossible franchise to Celine’s Song’s highly anticipated romantic comedy Materialists, all genres are ripe for the picking for theatergoers as temperatures continue to rise. Cruise initially played Cole in director Tony Scott’s 1990 hit Days of Thunder, following a rookie NASCAR driver’s rivalry with veteran racer Rowdy Burns (Michael Rooker). After Cole and Rowdy get seriously injured in a race, they soon become fast friends. The film also starred Cary Elwes and Nicole Kidman, who began dating Cruise after portraying an onscreen couple. Cruise and Kidman, 59, got married later that year before divorcing in 2001.
“I was 22, 23 years old and I had this huge movie star husband, but it just seemed completely natural,” Kidman told British Vogue in a profile published earlier this month. “We just fell madly in love and it was that simple. I remember people saying to me, ‘OK, well this is really going to affect your career.’ I’m like, ‘I don’t care. I’m in love. I want to be married.’”
It’s not yet known whether Kidman or any other OG Days of Thunder stars will return for the sequel.
