Collider’s Steve Weintraub talks with Jon Hamm for Pixar’s Hoppers.
Hamm discusses the animation projects he’s been a part of and his favorite Pixar films.
He also shares his favorite films from Christopher Nolan and Steven Spielberg.
Emmy Award winner Jon Hamm is probably best known for his role as Don Draper in Mad Men, but lately, he’s found a new passion within the industry. While talking with Collider’s Steve Weintraub about Pixar’s new comedy adventure, Hoppers, Hamm was discussing the magic of animation and how he’s been fortunate to lend his unmistakable voice to several animated projects now. “I’ve been animated,” he says proudly, “and I like it.”
In Hoppers, Hamm voices Mayor Jerry Generazzo, who’s taken hostage by a group of animals on a mission, rallied by a 19-year-old animal-lover named Mabel (voiced by Piper Curda). Disney and Pixar’s latest takes audiences on a hilarious adventure when Mabel borrows a new technology to “hop” into the body of a robotic beaver, allowing her to infiltrate the animal kingdom. By doing so, she manages to convince King George (Bobby Moynihan) and the others to take a stand against a looming threat.
Check out the full conversation in the video above or the transcript below, where Hamm breaks down the animation process to turn him and fellow castmates, Dave Franco, Vanessa Bayer, Moynihan, and more, into their Hoppers characters, and which Pixar movies are his favorites. He also shares his favorite films from directors Christopher Nolan and Steven Spielberg.

How Does Pixar Always Leave Us All a “Weeping Mess”?
Jon Hamm shares his favorite Pixar movies.

COLLIDER: I heard you haven’t seen this yet.
JON HAMM: I have not. I’m looking forward to seeing it at the premiere in front of a ton of kids and a packed audience. I’m very, very excited to see it.
I’m going to give you a spoiler warning: the movie is incredible.
HAMM: Good.
It is easily my favorite Pixar movie in years. It is tremendous. You have no idea what you’re about to get yourself into.
HAMM: I’m very excited. I have some idea. I did make it and read it. I have a lot of trust in the people who had their hands on it, so I’m very excited to see what they’ve done.
I’ve been asking this of everyone at every Pixar junket, but do you have a favorite Pixar movie?
HAMM: It’s hard to pick one.
I know. The answer is Ratatouille.
HAMM: [Laughs] It’s hard to pick one. Ratatouille is great. Obviously, Patton [Oswalt]’s work in that was so spectacular, but also the message of the film and the idea of the critic is so… as you may or may not have an opinion on that yourself. I love WALL-E. I love how the story was told without, really, any voices, just sounds and images. It’s a really elegant, beautiful way to tell a story. Toy Story, my god. I mean, the amount of times I’ve sat on a plane and watched that movie, those movies, and am completely a weeping mess, to the point where stewardesses were getting worried. [Laughs]
What Pixar does, their history of doing this, is combine an incredibly well-told story with deeply, deeply funny, humorous elements, and really connect emotionally. All the movies that we mentioned do that incredibly well, and I think this is certainly worthy of that lineage.

By the way, I would also accept WALL-E as an answer for my favorite Pixar.
HAMM: Yeah, man. It’s great.
It’s incredible.

Jon Hamm Explains Pixar’s Animation Process
Have we seen Mayor Jerry somewhere before…?
So when they came to you to play Mayor Jerry, did the design always look like that, or when you got cast, all of a sudden he morphs to look a little bit like you?
HAMM: It’s hard to tell which is the chicken or the egg. But I certainly think that what the animators do incredibly is that as you continue, as you start laying down the tracks, and as you get through the scripts and as they get rewritten and as they get roughed in and animated a little bit, they definitely start taking all of the footage that they have of you in the booth and they start using that as a kind of guide track for the characters’ facial expressions, for their physicality, for sure. As you go through the movie and you start watching it, you really start to see Bobby [Moynihan] in King George, and you see Vanessa [Bayer] in Diane, and you really start to see Dave [Franco] in Titus. You really start to see these people. They kind of come out through the animation. It’s very cool.
So, I don’t know how. I think it’s magical. I cannot draw a lick, so I think it’s incredible what these guys can do. It’s very cool. I’ve been fortunate enough to be in quite a few cool animated films, whether it’s Shrek or Minions or now this, or even Grimsburg on Fox. I’ve been animated, and I like it.
Oh, I can’t imagine, truthfully.

Jon Hamm Discusses His Favorite Films From Christopher Nolan and Steven Spielberg
“Wait, what did I just watch? What just happened?”
Guy Pearce in Memento.Image via Newmarket Films
I’ve been asking this of a lot of people I’ve been interviewing recently. Do you have a favorite Christopher Nolan movie?
HAMM: Favorite Christopher Nolan movie? I’ll go back to the source material and say Memento. I think that one showed his incredible attention to detail and the incredible acuity that he has with telling a very complicated story. And it was a story that I don’t think a lot of people were prepared for. It was almost like the first time you saw The Usual Suspects, and you’re like, “Wait, what did I just watch? What just happened?” It’s just so creative with the storytelling. I thought that was the one that really established him as someone to watch.

The other thing I’ve been asking everyone is what’s your favorite Steven Spielberg?
HAMM: Holy moly. That’s a tall order. But I guess if I’m going to go with one, I’d say Jaws.
That is a very common answer with a lot of people. It’s a masterpiece and flawless.
HAMM: Yeah. And the most amazing thing about it was Jaws was, what, ‘77, ‘76?
I almost want to say ‘75.
HAMM: Maybe it was. Maybe it was around there. To then kind of the next major thing be E.T. is such a genre shift.
I think he did Close Encounters.
HAMM: Close Encounters in between, but to tell a story, that deeply terrifying blockbuster that Jaws was, and then to come back on the other end of the spectrum and you tell E.T.? And you’re right, Close Encounters in between, but holy moly, what a what a gifted storyteller.

While Lopez has always been known for her strong work ethic, the insider explained that this latest push is different because she wants to change the narrative that her star power has been dimmed.
“Everyone is going to the Sphere these days; that is the town’s big deal, so she wants to prove that a more old-fashioned concert at the Colosseum is still the place to be,” the insider said.
Despite enduring a tough past couple of years following her divorce from Ben Affleck, the multihyphenate entertainer still made several dashing performances, especially for her “Up All Night” concert on August 12, 2025, which included stops in Europe and the Middle East.

“Jennifer loves to work; she never complains, it’s her jam,” the source said. “Some people like to vacation on the beach in Hawaii, and some like to work nonstop. Jennifer is the latter. She feels proud to be doing so well at her age and as a Latina woman.”

“I can’t really think of one thing that was superbad where I cringe and go, ‘Oh my god, that was hideous!’” she wrote before shifting the focus to her co-star, Stracke.

“Let’s start with Sutton who is living proof money can’t buy you taste,” Rinna wrote, later referencing one of the first scenes she filmed with Stracke during a professional fitting at a Dolce & Gabbana store.

“She’s frumpy, there’s no sex appeal about her whatsoever, and she’s got a weird body,” Rinna added. “So God bless her.”

Rinna’s comments sparked backlash from many of the show’s watchers, some of whom slammed the soap opera actress for being too “mean.”
“This has always been my problem with Rinna. She thinks it’s fun to be mean & b-tchy & that it somehow makes her appear authentic & cool & like she doesn’t care. When the reality is it just makes her seem bitter, mean, petty & desperate for attention,” a netizen wrote in an online thread.

FX’s Love Story brings John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette‘s tragic romance to life — but how does the cast compare to their real-life counterparts?
Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, which premiered Thursday, February 12, is a limited series that explores the “undeniable chemistry, whirlwind courtship and high-profile marriage of one of the most iconic couples of the 20th century,” according to the synopsis.
The FX series is the first installment in Ryan Murphy’s Love Story anthology and is inspired by Elizabeth Beller’s book Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. Sarah Pidgeon plays Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, while Paul Kelly portrays John F. Kennedy Jr.
“It was a love story that captured the attention of the nation: John F. Kennedy Jr. was the closest thing to American royalty. The country watched him grow from a boy to a beloved bachelor and media sensation. Bessette was a star in her own right,” the synopsis continues.

The Knowles family drama is heating up again, and social media is buzzing. A viral moment between Tina Knowles and her ex-husband Mathew Knowles had fans side-eyeing after he questioned Tina’s role in Destiny’s Child. But recently, the matriarch responded with a subtle but clear reminder of just how much she shaped the iconic girl group’s legendary style.
Tina Knowles Reminds Everyone Of Her Legendary Contributions
Tina Knowles isn’t letting anyone rewrite history. After Mathew Knowles seemingly questioned her role in shaping Destiny’s Child during a PIX11 interview—walking off after the anchor praised both of them for their “work” behind the iconic girl group—Tina subtly but firmly clapped back. On Thursday, Tina reposted a throwback documentary clip showcasing her early hustle, from shaping the girl group’s hairstyles to designing their costumes. The video also highlighted her creating original outfits when high-end fashion houses wouldn’t collaborate. Furthermore, this served as a clear reminder of her lasting impact on Destiny’s Child’s legacy.
Tina’s Classy Clap Back Has Fans Talking
Fans immediately flooded The Shade Room Instagram comments to weigh in. Some pointed out that Tina literally gave birth to Beyoncé, arguing that alone was enough contribution to Destiny’s Child, while others acknowledged that Mathew did handle much of the behind-the-scenes work. A few more chimed in, impressed by Tina’s subtle yet classy clap back, praising her for letting her legacy speak for itself.
One Instagram user @stefflondon said, “HELLO……SHE MADE “BEYONCE” JOB DONE!“

“It Was Misrepresented”: Mathew Defends Previous Comments About Tina
As previously reported, Mathew Knowles addressed the viral PIX11 clip that had the internet buzzing, insisting he doesn’t “do interviews” — he has “conversations.” Mathew claimed his now-famous question, “What work did she put in?” was simply meant to clarify Tina’s contributions to Destiny’s Child, not diminish them.
He expressed bafflement at the backlash, saying, “You can’t even find a negative comment I’ve ever said about Tina… People try to bait us all the time.” Mathew also defended his relationship with Tina Knowles, stressing that he always refers to her as his “former wife” out of respect, never as an ex, and hinted he’s “evaluating all legal remedies” over what he called a misrepresentation of his words.

The Hollywood monopoly unveiled its first trailer for Lanterns, the upcoming HBO Max series about the Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, and his apprentice, John Stewart. The trailer, which I’ll embed at the bottom of this article, looks mostly like a new season of True Detective, not like a superhero show. In addition to scenes of driving around in a car, there is a brief shot of the Green Lantern’s costume, which looks like a bunch of football pads sewn together, dyed pea green, and then run over a few times with that same car.
If you’re at all familiar with Green Lantern, as a superhero, then you know it’s sort of a sci-fi spacey property about a guy who can make anything he wants out of his green ring. It’s not a dusty comic about an old guy driving around back roads in a car.
Green Lantern’s suit in LanternsGreen Lantern’s costume in the comics
But if you’re a fan of a major, geek-centric media property, then you’re probably used to disappointment. Hollywood seems to have made it their mission to destroy everything nerds once loved, from Star Wars to Marvel to Star Trek. Most have assumed it’s been happening due to incompetence, but the truth may be something far, far worse.
That truth is this: Hollywood views geeks as pay pigs, and they’re being farmed.
A pay pig is a slang term for a person who repeatedly gives money, gifts, or financial support to someone who views them with open contempt or indifference. The payer is seen not as a valued supporter but as a gullible source of easy income, tolerated only as long as the payments continue.

Damon Lindelof Reveals What He Really Thinks Of Green Lantern
Damon Lindelof, who is responsible for HBO’s Lanterns and many of the biggest geek properties that have been ruined and are currently being ruined, recently revealed in an interview that this is how he views the people who pay his bills. Here’s the clip from Lindelof, watch what happens when he gets too comfortable and the mask drops.
This is all part of the now-decades-long Hollywood trend of making content for itself rather than its viewers. You’re viewed as pay pigs, a captive audience forced to eat their slop.
That results in a Green Lantern show that won’t have anything green in it. It also won’t do any Green Lantern things. Instead, as explained by the trailer, the plot seems to revolve around a horrible old white man getting out of the way so a hot dude with the kind of skin color Damon Lindelof approves of can take over.
The old, white man who has to get out of the way in the Lanterns trailer.
What does this have to do with a superhero comic about an organization of intergalactic guardians? Nothing. All that space stuff costs money to make and effort to coordinate. They don’t have to go to all the trouble because you’re just a pay pig, and they’ll use the Green Lantern logo. Eat your slop.
Everything’s Terrible Because You Aren’t Respected
Hollywood’s lack of respect for its audience is why every show seems to be doing musical episodes or childish drama, because the people behind them are a bunch of theater kids who enjoy doing stage plays and don’t care about, and in some cases are actively repulsed by, what the audience wants. It’s why everything pushes a political agenda that has nothing to do with the show; it’s why everything looks cheap and lazy. Modern entertainment is made for the people making it, not for you.
It’s not incompetence. They see you as beneath them and believe they can take your money from you without putting in any effort. You’re a pay pig, and you’re being farmed. It’s a Ponzi scheme, and you’re the elderly grandma they’re ripping off.
Star Trek’s recent musical episode.
The worst thing about it is that they aren’t wrong in their approach. Modern society is now overrun with zombified slop eaters, who will watch anything that shows up on screen with the right logo in front of it. There’s no incentive for them to respect their audience. People have been so thoroughly screenwashed that manipulating them has become easy, and they don’t have to try anymore.
So why put in all that effort on something you don’t care about? Give the slop eaters their slop, collect your paycheck, and laugh at them on the way home. It’s easy to imagine that’s what Damon Lindelof does, and he’s not the only one.

Following the premiere of Marshals, the latest spin-off in Taylor Sheridan‘s Yellowstone universe, audiences seem to be sending clear signals about what they want. Marshals marks the franchise’s first entry to be released on the CBS network rather than the Paramount+ streaming platform, and the reason is clear. Unlike previous installments, which were told on perhaps the biggest scale attempted on the small screen, Marshals appears to be a procedural in the vein of old-school network TV. Immediately after the first episode’s premiere on March 1, audiences flocked to the two previous Yellowstone spin-offs, giving them a massive spike on the viewership charts.
Sheridan’s Yellowstone debuted in 2018 and quickly became one of the most popular shows in the country. However, clashes between Sheridan and his lead, Kevin Costner, led the show to an abrupt end after five seasons in 2022. By then, Sheridan was already working on his two mega-budget prequels, the first of which premiered in 2021. The show, 1883, told the story of how the Dutton family came to Montana from the perspective of John Dutton III’s grandmother. She was played by Isabel May, who returned to serve as the narrator in the franchise’s second spin-off, 1923. This show ran for two seasons and concluded only last year. It told an epicGodfather-inspired tale of a prodigal son’s return to defend his family against enemies. 1923 was headlined by Helen Mirrenand Harrison Ford, with Brandon Sklenar emerging as its breakout star.

Taylor Sheridan’s Magnum Opus Will Continue With ‘1944’
According to FlixPatrol, 1923jumped by an incredible 15 spots on the domestic iTunes charts following Marshals‘ premiere. 1883 followed not too far behind. Both shows were written in their entirety by Sheridan, with 1923 holding a 94% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. The website’s consensus for the first season reads: “Distinguished by the ineffable star power of Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, 1923 is another solid if unrelentingly grim addition to Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe.” With Marshals having disappointed audiences and the upcoming The Madison reportedly no longer a part of the franchise, fans will now look forward to 1944 — the third prequel in the series.
