Diss tracks are alive and well among pop girlies, but the art of a good diss usually comes with a bit of discretion. Most artists try not to stir too much attention in the press, keeping things subtle rather than outright confrontational. Still, Katy Perry made her message pretty clear with her 2017 single “Swish Swish.”
Framed as an empowerment anthem about rising above negativity, the song still carries a sharp throw aimed at an unnamed opponent. Its kitschy, EDM-driven sound marked a shift from her earlier bubblegum pop style. In a way, the sleek production alone suggested that “Swish Swish” was meant to make a statement. However, as time passed, Perry seemed to reconsider her intentions with “Swish Swish,” and said that the song is just another chapter in her pop career.
“Swish Swish” Was Meant to Be an Anti-Bullying Anthem
Released as part of Perry’s fifth album Witness, at first impression, “Swish Swish” sounds like the sound a basketball makes when it goes through the basket — and that’s the point. Like the competitive, “I’m the man” spirit of the sport, “Swish Swish” is an anthem about standing up against your haters. Amidst the release of the single, Perry explained that the song is “a great anthem for people to use whenever somebody’s trying to hold you down or bully you.” Although she doesn’t explicitly name names, listeners have linked the song to one particular artist: Taylor Swift.

Back in 2013, Perry and Swift found themselves in a pickle over their background dancers. This dispute is widely believed to have inspired Swift’s “Bad Blood,” with “Swish Swish” often seen as a response. For context, three of Swift’s dancers allegedly left her in the middle of her Red World Tour and chose to work for Perry on her Prismatic World Tour, since they already had history together. In a Rolling Stone interview, although Swift didn’t mention anyone by name, she recalled that a former friend “did something so horrible,” to the point that the person “tried to sabotage an entire arena tour.”

Concept-wise, “Swish Swish” is a cross between the anthem Perry proclaims it to be and a full-on diss track. At one point, Perry positions herself as the bigger person, comparing herself to “a tiger” that doesn’t lose sleep or need opinions from a shellfish or a sheep. On the other hand, she still calls out her opponent, seemingly putting them in their place with lines like “you’re a joker / and I’m a courtside killer queen.” Don’t forget the playful basketball references, including “your game is tired / you should retire” — one of the small details that connects the song to the title.
However, all pop star feuds eventually come to an end. The first gleaming hope of reconciliation occurred when Perry changed the line “don’t you come for me” to “God bless you on your journey, oh baby girl” during a live performance. But what really sealed the deal was when Perry appeared in Swift’s music video for “You Need to Calm Down,” dressed in a hamburger costume alongside Swift’s french fry outfit. Reflecting on the feud in 2020, Perry explained that “gossip and lies, they take the elevator, but the truth takes the stairs, and it just takes time […] they will tell my story.”

The drama surrounding “Swish Swish” wasn’t the only reason it became a mid-2010s tabloid obsession. On May 20, 2017, Perry performed the track as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. But the spotlight didn’t stay on her for long. Instead, her backup dancers stole the show, with many of them drag performers and club personalities, walking down the stage like it was a ballroom. As the performance built toward its finale, viral Instagram personality Russell Horning, a.k.a. Backpack Kid, made a surprise appearance, enthusiastically performing his signature “floss” dance (Fornite later popularized the move).
Perry’s Saturday Night Live performance was praised for promoting LGBTQ+ inclusivity in mainstream media. With the message of “Swish Swish” coming across a resistance to those who oppose the community, it felt especially fitting. However, Perry’s advocacy has also been seen as ironic, given her track record of choosing to work with a known producer accused of sexual assault. On one hand, it is commendable that she aims to promote a positive message and embrace inclusivity. On the other hand, it’s contradictory of Perry to simultaneously preach empowerment and collaborating with a questionable industry figure.

One of the most hotly anticipated movies of 2026, there are now eight months until Denis Villeneuve‘s stunning adaptation of Frank Herbert‘s Dune novels comes to an explosive end with Dune: Part Three. Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya) will return alongside an all-star cast when the film drops on December 18, joined by the likes of Florence Pugh, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Anya Taylor-Joy, and more.
Of this cast, alongside Zendaya, Ferguson is having an incredibly busy year. Starting with the eventual box office flop Mercy, an AI-based sci-fi thriller that co-starred Chris Pratt, Ferguson then released two projects in quick succession, joining a stacked ensemble in the long-awaited Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, followed swiftly by The Magic Faraway Tree, the new fantasy film based on the 1939 children’s novel. With Ferguson having an impressive year, it is perhaps less surprising that another of her many movies is back in the U.S. streaming charts.
The film in question is The Girl on the Train, the 2016 adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ best-selling novel that starred Emily Blunt as Rachel. Unlike the upcoming Dune: Part Three, which is expected to earn close to $1 billion at the box office, The Girl on the Train earned a respectable $174 million against a reported budget of just $45 million. A decade on, and viewers have returned to the often overlooked adaptation, as it ranks as one of the ten most-watched movies on Starz in the U.S., at the time of writing.
What Did Collider Say About ‘The Girl on the Train’?
Despite earning a promising box office haul, The Girl on the Train was less successful with critics. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the movie received a 44% score, with the consensus reading, “Emily Blunt’s outstanding performance isn’t enough to keep The Girl on the Train from sliding sluggishly into exploitative melodrama.” In Perri Nemiroff‘s review for Collider at the time, she was slightly more positive in her response, saying:
“Taylor needed to knock it all out of the park in order to deliver a winning adaptation. Even the slightest misstep is going to be magnified in this type of film and threaten the credibility of the narrative, and unfortunately that is what happens here.”

Stars of the MTV reality show reunite in a new TV special to mark 20 years since it ended.
Love on the Spectrum’s Abbey Romeo and David Isaacman have broken their silence on their split.
“Abbey and David spent four and a half years together and truly value the time they shared and each other,” Abbey, David and their families said in a joint statement to People on Friday, April 10. “At this point, they want different things and have decided to go their separate ways, but they remain friends wishing each other the best.”
Multiple outlets reported on Thursday, April 9, that Abbey, 27, and David, 31, had called it quits after nearly five years together. (The Sun was the first to report the news.)
Abbey and David met on a blind date in July 2021, as seen on season 1 of Netflix’s Love on the Spectrum in May 2022. The duo quickly became a fan-favorite couple and went on to appear in seasons 2 through 4.
During the season 4 premiere earlier this month, Abbey teased that she and David might take their romance to the next level.

While some fans took the comment as a sign that Abbey and David would be headed down the aisle together, other eagle-eyed followers noticed that the now-exes have not appeared on each other’s social media of late.
David was most recently featured on Abbey’s social media in December 2025, when she documented their trip to Universal Studios and shared a highlight reel of moments from the past year. Meanwhile, Abbey appeared in a Christmas photo with David.
“I hope everyone has a great holiday with family, friends and loved ones,” he wrote alongside the snap.
Abbey and David previously teased their desire to get engaged in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly in October 2024.
“We [are] gonna get engaged someday,” David said at the time. “[Abbey] likes all the things I like and she tries new things too. She is loving and kind … and she is beautiful and makes me feel like a prince.”
Abbey added, “[We’ll] get engaged someday … [right now] we’re having a blast.”
One year later, Abbey shared an update on their relationship.
“We have fun together and do things we both love like going to the Los Angeles Zoo and Griffith Observatory,” she exclusively told Us in October 2025. “We want to take our time getting married because I don’t want to be a divorced lady like my mom.”
Abbey also admitted that she and David sometimes faced obstacles in their romance.
“We are working on our communication skills because we have different kinds of autism,” she explained. “I am a Gestalt learner and think in memories, and he is very patient with me, and we are still working hard on understanding each other.”
Despite their problems, Abbey said she was proud that she and David could inspire other couples.
“Fans say that David and I inspire them and that we help them believe in love,” she continued. “That is amazing. There was a time when I didn’t think I would ever be with someone and those days are over. I want everyone to find love.”

Candace Owens slammed Donald Trump in response to his remarks about her in a recent online post.

Owens also claimed that Trump could lose support for being “fundamentally disloyal.”

The first order of business was cutting the apples with an apple corer. True started to do it herself before asking her mom for help. Her commentary as Khloé stepped in was pure gold.
“And then we press really hard, like Mommy has big muscles,” True said as her mom used the slicer. “And then you see, they’re like a rainbow or something — and like a flower.”
“Try not to cut yourself with these,” she added before giving her mom a round of applause. “She’s so strong.”
True then took over, using a kid-friendly knife to cut the apple slices into smaller chunks.
After all the apples were cut, True put them in a bowl and poured a glass of sparkling water over them before mixing it all together. She let them soak for a full minute while mixing frequently before draining the apples with a strainer and rinsing them with regular water.
She finished by sprinkling salt on the apples and taste-testing the result. Her verdict? “It’s good,” she declared, inviting viewers to try it at home.
Khloe Kardashian’s Daughter Shares a Confession
While True worked on the apples, Khloé was snacking on some of her Khloud Protein Chips — a brand she founded and released earlier this month. True, however, wasn’t interested.
According to Khloé, True thinks the “sweet heat” flavor is “too spicy” and the “buffalo” is “too flavorful.”
When Khloé pressed her daughter about not liking chips, True revealed that she doesn’t like cake, cookies or cupcakes either.
“Now you’re exposing me,” True said to her mom, who said she thought it was cool that she doesn’t like those things.
True went on to describe sugary snacks as “disgusting” and called her mom out for “just chomping away” at the chips. The playful back-and-forth between mother and daughter gave the video a warm, unscripted feel that viewers are sure to enjoy.

Heather Locklear is off the market once again and is dating Lorenzo Lamas, Us Weekly can confirm.
Lamas, 68, and Locklear, 64, “are seeing each other,” a rep for the Falcon Crest actor confirmed to Us Weekly on Friday, April 10.
TMZ, which was first to report the news, published pictures earlier on Friday that showed the pair posing while spending New Year’s Eve together in Las Vegas. The couple were photographed meeting chef Barry Dakake at Barry’s Steakhouse located inside the Circa Resort and Casino in Sin City in December 2025.

TMZ additionally reported on Friday that Locklear and Lamas’ adult children were planning to “hang out” this weekend and get to know each other as their parents’ romance heats up.
Us Weekly has reached out to Locklear’s rep for comment.
Locklear’s new relationship with Lamas comes nearly one year after Us exclusively confirmed in May 2025 that she was single.
At the time, multiple sources told Us that Locklear had recently split from fiancé Chris Heisser following their June 2020 engagement.
“Heather is single and she’s ready to date again,” an insider shared with Us, revealing that Locklear hadn’t seen Heisser since the New Year.
The source added that the former Melrose Place actress was “focusing on herself” and “doing really well.”
Prior to her on-again, off-again romance with Heisser, 64, Locklear was married two times. She and Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee were married from 1986 to 1993.
Locklear moved on with Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, whom she wed in 1994. The pair welcomed daughter Ava in 1997. A decade later, Locklear and Sambora, 66, divorced in 2007.
The actress was also briefly engaged to Melrose Place costar Jack Wagner in 2011.
Lamas, for his part, has been married six times. The Love in the Clouds star was married to Victoria Hilbert from 1981 to 1982. He and second wife Michele Smith, who share son A.J. and daughter Shayne, were married from 1983 to 1985. (Smith died in January 2018 at the age of 61.)
Lamas welcomed daughters Alexandra, Victoria and Isabella, with third wife Kathleen Kinmont, whom he was married to from 1989 to 1993. Shauna Sand was married to the actor from 1996 to 2002, while Shawna Craig’s marriage to Lamas lasted from 2011 to 2018. Lamas’ most recent marriage to Kenna Nicole Scott was from 2023 to 2025.

As Boston Blue prepares for an explosive season finale, Sonequa Martin-Green teased a difficult revelation.
“What a journey I take as Lena Silver. There’s some threads of it at the beginning of the season [and] you’ll start to see us delving into some really serious things,” Martin-Green exclusively told Us Weekly about what is still to come.
Martin-Green warned that there “were difficult stories to tell.”
“I applaud Brandon Sonnier — our coshowrunner — because the Silver family is based on his own family. There are a lot of dynamics in Lena’s life that are based on his life,” she continued. “So this is real and this is authentic. This is his experience. So I am just so excited for people to see it because it’s rough. It’s rough stuff that Lena is about to go through for the rest of the season.”
During the Friday, April 10, episode of the Blue Bloods spinoff, Lena was seen asking her mother, Mae (Gloria Reuben), for more details on her birth father. Mae was reluctant to open up about the past — and that will continue to be addressed on the show.
“It’s going to have a ripple effect. It’s going to be time for this family to start unearthing some serious stuff. We went there and we went to those difficult places because the story was just really important,” the actress noted. “I’m really hoping that people can relate to it and can see examples of it in their own lives.”
Martin-Green recalled a multitude of conversations being sparked on screen.
“We’re just one example of it. We’re a pretend example but I think that sometimes examples are needed to be seen,” she continued. “Lena is a cool cat — as I like to call her — and it’s nice when you get to see layers with somebody like that. She is self-assured, confident and carries herself with ease and smoothness. It’s really good storytelling to see someone like that be broken down and humbled.”
Lena was introduced to Us when Boston Blue premiered in October 2025. In addition to being Danny’s (Donnie Wahlberg) new partner, Martin-Green’s character brought in a new fictional family into the Blue Bloods universe: the Silvers.
“We’re standing on the shoulders of Blue Bloods and there’s so many amazing characters and relationships,” she told Us. “I don’t take that lightly.”
Martin-Green did use the opportunity to take what Blue Bloods built to pave the way for more authentic and important storytelling. Through Lena, Martin-Green was thrilled to expand the world with stories while offering insight into a Boston detective finding her place while part of a noted police family.
“There were the detectives at the BPD that really made an impact on me. It was amazing to be able to be there in person and see and then continuing to have those conversations on set is just invaluable,” she shared. “We ask them for some of everything and they are so open and willing and collaborative and gracious and generous with their stories that are difficult. I’ve been learning a lot about what it means to be a cop. I’m pulling from all the resources that I have around me.”
The work didn’t stop with the scenes Martin-Green filmed. She also spoke to Us about building Lena out through her wardrobe as well, saying, “It is a conversation that we continue to have about finding that balance because you don’t want to be in a position where you’re standing out but you also want to be put together. There’s something so elegant to me about Lena but also understated. The suits are a necessity because I have to wear those. But it was about, let’s work with certain cuts that have more of a femininity to them. It’s great to just dive into your femininity and into your softness because you have to have that masculine shield up when you’re at work.”
She added: “You have to put that force field up because the job just requires it. But when you’re home, you can be soft and you can sink into that softness. I want to keep growing in that and I appreciate that it is a collaboration and that we are able to have these conversations.”
Looking ahead, Martin-Green is excited about where the show goes from here.
“I just can’t stress enough how grateful I am to be telling a character-driven story in a procedural format. I couldn’t have imagined and I really appreciate it. We cover a lot and a lot goes down by the end of the season,” she told Us. “There are a lot of things that are open-ended. There are so many questions and so many things have been introduced. Things are so big in the second half of the season that I feel like we’re going to see the undoing of all of those things — or the coming together of all of those things — for episodes and episodes to come.
Martin-Green is also starring in Rick Gomez‘s directorial debut She Dances, which follows a struggling father who attempts to reconnect with his daughter while serving as her chaperone at a dance competition. Steve Zahn, Ethan Hawke, Mackenzie Ziegler, Rosemarie DeWitt and Audrey Zahn make up the rest of the cast of the movie, which is out now.

Ridley Scott is in line for a big year in 2026 when he returns to the world of sci-fi with the release of The Dog Stars. The post-apocalyptic thriller stars Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin opposite Margaret Qualley, and after being delayed out of its previously March release spot, it’s now set to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer. The Dog Stars will be Scott’s first sci-fi movie in almost 10 years, since he last directed Alien: Covenant in 2017. Following the release of the film, Scott has focused more on historical epics in the last few years, but it hasn’t been exactly smooth sailing. Movies like The Last Duel (starring Matt Damon) and Napoleon (starring Joaquin Phoenix) have gone on to become some of the most controversial releases of Scott’s career.
One Ridley Scott-directed and produced film that’s anything but controversial, though, is Alien. The 1979 sci-fi film is loved by critics and audiences alike, and it’s considered one of the most influential movies ever made. Alien also spawned a sci-fi horror franchise that’s still ongoing to this day, with new releases like Alien: Romulus and Alien: Earth coming in 2024 and 2025. It’s been nearly 50 years since the first Alien movie was released, but the film is still one of the most popular movies in the world on HBO Max, where it’s streaming exclusively in America. Alien grossed $109 million at the box office against an $11 million budget, and the film holds marks of 93% from critics and 94% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Not only is it arguably Scott’s greatest film, it’s one of the best sci-fi movies ever made.

The ensemble cast of Alien consists of Tom Skerritt as Dallas, Sigourney Weaver as Ripley, Veronica Cartwright as Lambert, Harry Dean Stanton as Brett, John Hurt as Kane, Ian Holm as Ash, and more. Dan O’Bannon wrote the screenplay for Alien with help from Ronald Shusett on the story. James Cameron directed the first Alien sequel in 1986 before handing directorial control to David Fincher for the polarizing Alien threequel, Alien 3.
