Margot Robbie’s New Film Ripped For Its ‘Exhausting Sex Scenes’
“Wuthering Heights,” starring Margot Robbie, has garnered mixed reviews from film critics ahead of its debut later this week.
The Emerald Fennell’s adaptation was called out regarding its directing as well as the performances of Robbie and her co-star Jacob Elordi.
However, some critics also had much praise for the movie, which is a loose adaptation of Emily Brontë’s famous novel.

Margot Robbie And Jacob Elordi Were Criticized For Their ‘Wuthering Heights’ Performances
Ahead of its official debut later this week, “Wuthering Heights” has drawn mixed reactions from film critics for its “lewd” and “exhausting sex scenes,” despite the initial anticipation many held towards the project.
Much of the criticism aimed at Emerald Fennell’s adaptation has focused on the lead performances, with detractors expressing frustration over Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Catherine Earnshaw and Jacob Elordi’s turn as Heathcliff.
The Independent‘s Clarisse Loughrey, in particular, awarded the film a one-star rating and described the pair’s performances as “almost pushed to the border of pantomime.”
She reserved even harsher criticism for Elordi’s portrayal of Heathcliff, branding the character a “wet-eyed, Mills & Boon mirage.”

Meanwhile, The Times‘ Kevin Maher directed his criticism at Robbie, dismissing her Catherine role as a “Brontë Barbie,” which seemed like a pointed reference to the animated doll she portrayed in the 2023 film, “Barbie.”
Collider blasted the intimate scenes in the film as “exhausting,” claiming that they “overstay their welcome.”

Emerald Fennell Was Slammed For Her Adaptation Of The Classic Novel

Still in his review, Maher also called out Fennell’s directing, claiming she made a “vapid” film that “fails to reflect the complexity of the greatest gothic novel in English literature.”
Further criticism came from The Guardian‘s Peter Bradshaw, who noted how Fennell’s loose adaptation of Emily Brontë’s book did not do justice to Elordi and Robbie’s talents.
“Emerald Fennell’s take on Emily Brontë is an emotionally hollow, bodice-ripping misfire that misuses Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi,” he wrote.
He added, “For Fennell, it looks like a luxurious pose of unserious abandon. It’s quasi-erotic, pseudo-romantic, and then ersatz-sad, a club night of mock emotion.”

The Daily Mail then compared Emerald Fennell’s direction with that of earlier adaptations, arguing that her version was far less “satisfying.”
“Fennell is by no means alone in deciding to adapt a celebrated novel for the screen, then fiddling with the story as if the original wasn’t quite up to snuff. Producer Sam Goldwyn famously insisted on a happy ending to the 1939 version starring Merle Oberon and Laurence Olivier,” the outlet wrote.
“But that’s a much more satisfying film than this handsome but ultimately empty exercise in style over substance, cinematography over soul,” it further remarked.

‘Wuthering Heights’ Was Praised By Some Critics For Being ‘Lurid, Oozy And Wild’
Despite heavy criticism directed at the filmmaker and cast, a segment of the movie buffs praised the adaptation.
The Telegraph‘s Robbie Collin heaped praises on the film, describing it as “resplendently lurid, oozy and wild,” alongside awarding a five-star rating.
He also hinted that viewers will be transfixed by the production, as he called it “an obsessive film about obsession, and hungrily embroils the viewer in its own mad compulsions.”
Just like Collin, BBC‘s Caryn James showered the film with praise, with particular attention to Fennell’s directing.
“Fennell’s approach is an extravagant swirl: sexy, dramatic, melodramatic, occasionally comic and often swoonily romantic,” James wrote.
Margot Robbie Opened Up About Starring In ‘Wuthering Heights’

In “Wuthering Heights,” Robbie and Elordi’s characters’ tumultuous love story unfolds against the backdrop of the Yorkshire moors, much like in the novel. However, according to the actress, fans should expect far raunchier scenes than those found in the 1847 classic.
“They never really kissed in the book, but we kiss a lot. We kiss everywhere,” Robbie said in a recent interview, per the Daily Mail. “And there’s so many times where he just picks me up and puts me in a tree, or picks me up with one hand.”
Speaking about being lifted by her co-star, the “Barbie” star said she loved the experience whenever it happened.
She added, “And I have to say, it is really nice, it makes you feel, ‘Oh I’m light as a feather, I’m a tiny little thing.’”

Margot Robbie Loved How Her Character Switched From One Emotion To Another
During the interview, Robbie also revealed how much she enjoyed playing the role, despite it often requiring her to display intense emotions.
“My character essentially cries in every single scene, but no, it was a joy,” the Oscar-nominated actress said.
She continued, “I loved playing a character who kind of swings from one wild emotion to the other in an instant.”

Summer House Recap: Kyle Complains About Sex Life Before Amanda Split
Kyle Cooke aired his and estranged wife Amanda Batula’s dirty laundry on Summer House months before their split made headlines.
“There are so many things that Amanda and I need to talk about,” Kyle, 43, told pals West Wilson and Jesse Solomon during the Tuesday, February 10, episode of the Bravo series.
Fans previously saw Kyle yell at Amanda, 34, during the season 10 premiere after she allegedly went naked in the pool at the Hamptons house— even though she was wearing a bra. (Kyle was also in the pool at the time.)
When asked in Tuesday’s episode about why he was being “spicy” toward Amanda and seemingly getting “jealous,” Kyle confessed there was more to his frustrations than meets the eye.
“I shouldn’t say this, but she acted like — the last two years, she smokes weed every night,” Kyle claimed.
West, 31, was surprised by Kyle’s allegations, asking, “She what? Passes out?”
When Kyle confirmed that Amanda often went to bed early, West asked, “When do you f***?” Kyle made a face and replied, “Good question,” implying they were not having sex.
West continued to inquire about Kyle and Amanda’s sex life, wondering if it’s “never” happening or “just less than you’d like?”

Kyle insinuated that he and Amanda were not intimate at all, saying, “If she smokes weed every single night …”
West filled in the blanks, asking, “You aren’t f***ing?” to which Kyle opened his eyes wide, seemingly confirming West’s assumptions. “No? OK,” West replied.
Kyle continued to vent about his and Amanda’s relationship, telling the boys, “My apartment smells like a frat house and it looks like a frat house because she’s chaotically living.”
He claimed he “can’t even hire a cleaning company because there’s too much s***,” comparing his and Amanda’s apartment to an episode of Hoarders.
Kyle alleged that it got so bad that he “begged” Amanda’s mom to “come into the city and help,” which she did about one year prior.
As Kyle was complaining about Amanda, she walked up to the group from where she was standing with the other girls and everyone went quiet.
“Now I feel bad,” Kyle said under his breath.
Newbie KJ Dillard raised eyebrows, telling Kyle, “We’re here for you, man,” which caused Amanda to do a double take.
“What the f***? What is going on? Kyle,” Amanda asked, visibly upset. “Someone say it. I’m going to find out one way or the other.”
When Kyle struggled to find the words, Amanda quipped, “Cat got your tongue? You got a lot to say to everyone else.”
Kyle took a beat before telling his wife, “I just feel like you’re very disinterested in me and us.” He then claimed, “You haven’t asked a question in years.”
Amanda claimed that Kyle was guilty of overexaggerating. “I want companionship and friendship and I don’t get that. You don’t give me anything,” he responded, which Amanda argued was “not true.”
Amanda pointed out that it made her “uncomfortable” that Kyle chose to tell “everyone” how he feels except for her and said it proved that they were not communicating.
“I don’t know what else to do. I’m putting up smoke signals, like, I’m like, ‘Help!’” Kyle said.
Amanda told him they would “talk about this later,” upsetting Kyle and forcing him to walk out of the bar.
The argument between Kyle and Amanda was one of many they had during Tuesday’s episode, which was filmed in summer 2025. The couple, who were married for four years, announced their split in January.

Kyle confessed to pal Carl Radke on Tuesday that he felt “embarrassed” by his behavior and “ashamed” he told some of the new housemates about his and Amanda’s problems. He also expressed concerns about his marriage.
“I get that I work a lot, but when I do make an effort with Amanda, I don’t feel like it’s reciprocated,” Kyle said, claiming that the couple were “not on the brink of collapse” despite their arguments.
The episode ended with another fight between Kyle and Amanda while he was trying to apologize to the group during dinner.
“What I was trying to say is, out of respect for my marriage and my wife, I apologize for kinda airing some dirty laundry. And letting some of my emotions get the best of me,” Kyle said after Ciara Miller was caught laughing about his apology to Amanda across the table.
Amanda chimed in, saying, “I feel like this apology should’ve been given to me directly.”
Kyle claimed he already said “sorry” to his spouse when they left the Hamptons to go back to New York City the weekend before.
“OK. It doesn’t need to be given to the whole table,” Amanda continued, which hurt Kyle’s feelings.
He explained that he wanted to speak to everyone because “it would be great if people were a little respectful at times” before calling out Ciara, 30, for interrupting him earlier.
“Kyle, don’t do that to Ciara,” Amanda told him, defending her friend.
When Kyle pointed out that Ciara was “laughing at me,” Amanda replied, “OK. So was I,” causing him to get even more upset and storm off into the house.
Summer House airs on Bravo Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.

Savannah Guthrie’s Husband Breaks Silence Over FBI Nancy Subject Pics
Savannah Guthrie’s husband, Michael Feldman, is speaking out after the FBI released photos of a possible subject in his mother-in-law Nancy Guthrie’s missing person’s case.
“Someone out there may recognize this person,” Feldman, 57, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, February 10, sharing the photos and video footage of the alleged abduction subject.
He pleaded with his followers, “Please help us. Bring her home.” Nancy, 84, was reported missing on February 1 and has not been found.
Feldman, who has been married to Savannah, 54, since 2014, reposted the FBI’s surveillance camera footage from Nancy’s home in Tucson, Arizona, hours after authorities shared the video publicly. (Feldman and Savannah share daughter Vale, born in August 2014, and son Charley born in December 2016.)

In the black and white video, a masked man approaches what appears to be Nancy’s front door. He tries to cover the camera with his glove before walking back to the arched entrance and picking up something on the ground, seemingly to knock out the cameras.
“New images in the search for Nancy Guthrie,” FBI Director Kash Patel wrote via X on Tuesday, sharing the clip and four black-and-white photos from the scene. “Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors – including the removal of recording devices. The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems.”
The FBI added, “Working with our partners — as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”
Feldman also shared two of the images with his social media followers, including a full body shot of the alleged assailant and a close-up image of the man holding a plant of some sort.
His last Instagram slide included two pictures of Nancy and the FBI tipline phone number as well as the Pima County Sheriff’s Department number for any tips in the case.

Savannah, who has been absent from the Today show since her mom’s disappearance, also spoke about the new surveillance photos on Tuesday.
“We believe she is still alive. Bring her home,” Savannah wrote via Instagram. “Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department 520-351-4900.”
In a separate social media post, Savannah wrote, “Someone out there recognizes this person. We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.”
Nancy was last seen on January 31 after attending dinner with family members, including daughter Annie Guthrie. (Nancy shares daughters Annie and Savannah and son Camron Guthrie with late husband Charles Guthrie, who died when he was 49 after suffering a heart attack.)
Savannah’s mom was reported missing the next day after she failed to join friends and watch her Sunday church service virtually.
“We have a start point,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos exclusively told Us Weekly on February 2, noting that Annie was the last person to see her mother. “The family took her home from dinner at about 9:30 to 9:45 [p.m.]” on Saturday, January 31.

He added, “So we would back that up to even say 9 or 8:30 p.m. to start looking.”
As the search for Nancy has continued, Savannah and her siblings have spoken out in hopes that someone will come forward with information that may help bring her back.
“Our mom is a kind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving woman of goodness and light. She is funny, spunky and clever,” the Guthries said in an Instagram video shared on February 4. “She has grandchildren who adore her and crowd around her and cover her with kisses. She loves fun and adventure. She is a devoted friend. She is full of kindness and knowledge. Talk to her and you’ll see.”
On Sunday, February 8, authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. The next day, Savannah posted an emotional video before the deadline for an alleged $6 million ransom was due.
“I just wanted to come on and share some thoughts as we enter into another week of this nightmare,” Savannah said on Monday, February 9. “We believe that somehow, some way, [Nancy] is feeling these prayers and that God is lifting her even in this moment and in this darkest place. We believe our mom is still out there.”
While Savannah and her siblings have been vocal throughout the search for Nancy, Savannah’s husband has been quiet on social media. However, he broke his silence on Tuesday to share the FBI photos.
Although Feldman’s post was direct and to the point, Us spoke with former CIA officer Tracy Walder on Tuesday about what the pictures reveal about the crime.
“A couple of things that stand out to me [are] you don’t see a vehicle in the background,” Walder explained. “Whoever got here was either dropped off, which would have been pinged, but either they were dropped off out of the camera’s view, they walked there, biked there or whatever. I think that’s the first thing we are seeing.”
Walder added, “I think the second thing we are seeing and what these videos tell me is what I have said from the beginning. This was definitely targeted and this was definitely planned.”
While Walder is not part of the investigation, they told Us the pictures lead her to think the alleged kidnapper “had the intention” before approaching the house “because in the backpack — I think — were things to subdue her or restrain her, one of the two.”
Walker mused, “Those can be so many different things. It can be rope, zip ties, handcuffs, a blanket.”

2026’s First Major Horror Disaster Craters in Week 3
Despite recent examples of success, such as the Walton Goggins- and Ella Purnell-led Fallout, video game adaptations remain a major point of controversy in the film industry. Among these video game adaptations to struggle, it is often those in the horror genre that prove most painful, as die-hard fans are regularly let down by cheap interpretations of a beloved original IP. This, sadly, is the fate that has befallen Return to Silent Hill, the third movie installment in the Silent Hill franchise.
After making its debut on January 23, any excitement about a long-awaited return to one of horror gaming’s best titles was destroyed as both critics and fans delivered damning reviews of the movie. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, an audience score of 30% is positively glowing compared to critics’ 18%, with the consensus on the site reading, “A visually tacky sequel that lumbers along with a plodding pulse and lacking the thematic resonance that distinguished its source material, Return to Silent Hill gets lost in the haze.” In Ross Bonaime‘s review of the movie for Collider, he called it “an ugly, laughable adaptation that proves that maybe we should’ve never gone back to Silent Hill.”
At the U.S. box office, the movie hasn’t found much luck either, with its disappointing second week compounded by a recent third that saw the movie slip from 12th in the charts to becoming unranked. Thanks to a drop in theaters from 1,608 the week before to 273 this past weekend, Return to Silent Hill earned just $115,559. On Sunday, revenue fell 89% to $35,000 compared to the prior Sunday, even as the number of theaters showing the movie declined.
‘Return to Silent Hill’ is Quietly Redeeming Itself in China
Against a reported budget of $23 million, Return to Silent Hill‘s dismal $5.5 million domestic haul to date suggests it could be one of the worst flops of the year financially. However, the film has proven much more popular internationally, with a $13 million run in China so far, helping take its global total past the $25 million mark. That being said, any chance of this proving a successful financial venture for those involved remains slim.
Return to Silent Hill is available to watch in some theaters. Make sure to stay tuned to Collider for the latest box office updates.

Netflix’s Best Cozy Romance Series Is Climbing Global Charts Ahead of Season 4
Yesterday, Virgin River fans were treated to a sight for sore eyes when Netflix dropped the debut trailer for the show’s highly-anticipated seventh season. Now that it’s been more than one year since the title celebrated its Season 6 finale, patience is waning within the fandom for more episodes of the cozy drama that stars Alexandra Breckenridge (My Secret Santa) and Martin Henderson (The Ring). While going back and binging the entirety of the series is certainly on the to-do lists of some fans, others are turning to the streamer’s on-point equivalent to keep them going during these trying times.
Set in the titular Northern California town, Virgin River follows the lives of an intertwined community, who share their highest highs and lowest lows with one another for better or for worse. From what we saw in yesterday’s trailer, there are plenty of exciting things looming over the horizon for the title’s Season 7 return, including the potential of Mel (Breckenridge) and Jack (Henderson) getting the family they’ve always wanted and the comeback of the town physician, Doc Mullins (Tim Matheson), after a slight stumble.
If these small-town tales are the kind that you find yourself drawn towards, and you want to get to know an entirely new cast of characters ahead of Virgin River’s next batch of episodes, you can join the already growing list of people from around the globe who are tuning into Sullivan’s Crossing. According to FlixPatrol, the Virgin River replacement series is a worldwide success, nabbing the sixth spot on Netflix’s coveted Top 10 chart. The spike in viewership is notable, as the third season aired last spring and summer, meaning months have passed since new episodes were released. And yet, perhaps thanks to a Season 4 greenlight, Sullivan’s Crossing is making its way back into the spotlight.
Who’s Behind ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’?
If Sullivan’s Crossing feels eerily familiar during your first watch-through, that’s because it hails from the same mind behind Virgin River. Both projects are based on the beloved novels by Robyn Carr and feature powerful leading ladies who leave their lives in the big city behind to strike out in smaller surroundings. Leading the cast of Sullivan’s Crossing is a lineup that includes Morgan Kohan (When Hope Calls), Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill), Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls), Tom Jackson (Outlander), and Andrea Menard (Supernatural).
Sullivan’s Crossing is now streaming on Netflix.

Charli XCX’s New Movie Trailer Teases a Volcanic Twist on Romance
Charli XCX is having a bit of a moment, literally, on the big screen. Her A24 mockumentary, The Moment, went wide in theaters over the weekend and built off a record-breaking start as a limited release to outperform lingering Oscar contenders like Marty Supreme and Hamnet at the box office. The film itself satirized and capitalized on the momentum of Brat Summer, following the pop icon in the run-up to her arena tour debut after a culture-defining breakout season thanks to her smash hit album. Now, however, she’s already gearing up for her next stint on the big screen in April, which will focus less on her identity as a superstar and more on romance.
1-2 Special released the first trailer for her new film, Erupcja, a fiery drama about a luxurious getaway between a couple that quite literally erupts into chaos. Charli plays Bethany, who finds herself trapped in Warsaw, Poland, with her soon-to-be fiancé, Rob (Will Madden), after the eruption of Mount Etna keeps their flight home grounded. The unexpected event leaves Bethany questioning things, despite having what looks like a loving relationship on the surface. In the footage, she and Rob appear to have a strong bond, learning certain phrases like “You’re welcome” in Polish and reminiscing about how romantic and beautiful Warsaw can be. However, knowing that he’s about to propose, she opts to meet with an old friend to catch up, party like old times, and express her fears about committing to him. While he’s “nice,” she notes that, with Rob, “the Earth doesn’t shake,” and she’s not certain that’s what she wants for the rest of her life.
Like the volcano itself, the trailer builds towards an eruption of emotions with a montage of scenes of a worried Rob and an unsure Bethany moving through lofts, clubs, and back alleys while trying to get a grip on her sense of self. There always seems to be a volcano going off wherever they go, and, after talking with her friends, she takes it as a sign that maybe she needs to shake things up. The tension and drama will only keep bubbling to the surface until they untangle the emotional web between them and finally confront what they both need. Lena Góra gets much of the spotlight alongside Charli and Madden, with Jeremy O. Harris rounding out the main cast.
‘Erupcja’ Has Already Received an Eruption of Praise From Critics
At the helm of Erupcja is indie director Pete Ohs, who previously directed last year’s The True Beauty of Being Bitten By a Tick, which featured Harris, and Love and Work, which starred Madden. He also co-wrote the screenplay with both Charli XCX and Góra and produced the film with the pop star alongside Harris, Luke Arreguin, Josh Godfrey, Malia Paul, Alexandra Tynion, Olivia Tyson, Will Westwater, and Cham Zhao. Unlike The Moment, which debuted to more mixed reviews, the romantic drama earned a more favorable reception from critics upon its Toronto International Film Festival debut, earning an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. For all the tension between Bethany and Rob, it’s been hailed as another chill hangout film from Ohs that shows a different side of Charli XCX’s talents as an actor.
Erupcja is set to premiere in theaters on April 17. Check out the trailer in the player above.
