Rebecca Hall’s ‘The Listeners’ Is a Quietly Unsettling Thriller That Gets Under Your Skin

Published

Rebecca Hall is seen stoic in a scene from The Listeners.

From lost civilizations to haunting conspiracy theories, some of our world’s greatest mysteries have often teased the limits of human understanding. But as these puzzles challenge our perceptions to stir our deepest fears, they also invite us to ask more questions. Unraveling that puzzle through nuanced storytelling is The Listeners, a provocative series that centers around a woman who begins to hear low-humming sounds that no one else can. The four-part series, set to air on Starz this week, starring Rebecca Hall, is based on the bestselling and award-winning novel of the same name by Jordan Tannahill. Following its highly anticipated Toronto International Film Festival premiere in 2024, the show will no doubt become one of the year’s most thought-provoking and unsettling series yet.

As an atmospheric exploration of human connection and isolation, The Listeners embraces the ethereal tension of The Leftovers and the psychological depth of Sharp Objects to examine the human experience through silence. With the book set up as a memoir and inspired by the strange, low-frequency reverberations in Windsor, Ontario, the BBC-produced series finds a refreshing nuance in its television adaptation. Produced by Element Pictures, the studio behind Normal People and Poor Things, and directed by Janicza Bravo (Poker Face and Zola), the series manages a sharp, important commentary on how loneliness compels us to seek meaning in the unknown — or in this case, the inexplicable. Through its main character Claire, played arrestingly by Hall, The Listeners offers a strong tableau of isolation and how the search for connection can distort even the simplest of perceptions.

What Is ‘The Listeners’ About?

The Listeners stars Hall as Claire, an English teacher who is the only person hearing a low-humming sound. Much like the show’s pace, which aligns with a slow-burning drama, the sound she hears starts gradually. It’s present, but it’s not exactly taking up too much space in Claire’s life. However, things take an abrupt turn, and the seemingly innocuous noise begins to upset the balance she has created for herself and her family. Claire, who is also a doting mother to Ashley (Mia Tharia) and a loving wife to Paul (Prasanna Puwanarajah), begins to find the noise ruining a lot of her daily rhythms. At times, she feels she might have imagined it. But the noise and its high frequency begin to manifest in the form of nose bleeds, leaving Claire with a lot more questions. As she investigates with doctors and conducts tests, they suggest she might have tinnitus or a hypersensitivity to white noise — an issue seen in patients with anxiety and stress.

The Resistance, Zion

The Matrix

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You’re a systems thinker who can’t help but notice the seams in things.

  • You’re drawn to understanding how the system works before figuring out how to break it.
  • You’d find the Resistance, or it would find you — your instinct for spotting constructed realities is the machines’ worst nightmare.
  • You function best when you have access to information and the freedom to act on it.
  • The Matrix built an airtight prison. You’d be the one probing the walls for the door.

The Wasteland

Mad Max

The wasteland doesn’t reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That’s you.

  • You don’t need comfort, community, or a cause larger than the next horizon.
  • You need a vehicle, a clear threat, and enough fuel to outrun it — and you’re good at all three.
  • You are unsentimental enough to survive that world, and decent enough — just barely — to be something more than another raider.
  • In the wasteland, that distinction is everything.

Los Angeles, 2049

Blade Runner

You’d survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

  • You read people accurately, keep your circle small, and ask the questions others prefer not to answer.
  • In a city where humanity is a legal designation rather than a feeling, you hold onto something that keeps you functional.
  • You’re not a hero. But you’re not lost, either.
  • In Blade Runner’s world, that distinction is everything.

Arrakis

Dune

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

  • Patience, discipline, and political awareness are your core strengths — and on Arrakis, they’re survival tools.
  • You understand that the long game matters more than any single victory.
  • Others come to Dune and are consumed by it. You’d learn its logic and earn its respect.
  • In time, you wouldn’t just survive Arrakis — you’d begin to reshape it.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars
Advertisement

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • You find meaning in being part of something larger than yourself — a cause, a crew, a rebellion.
  • You’d gravitate toward the Rebellion, or the fringes, or whatever pocket of the galaxy still believes the Empire’s grip can be broken.
  • You fight — not because you have to, but because standing aside isn’t something you’re capable of.
  • In Star Wars, that willingness is what makes all the difference.

Here, the mystery begins, unraveling Claire’s layers to offer more about her through a naturally quiet disposition and interaction with others. With her frustrations starting to show, no one can help — that is until one of her students, a 17-year-old boy named Kyle (Ollie West) reveals he can too hear the sound. Taking solace in their shared isolation, the two strike up an unlikely (and dangerous) friendship and investigate the sound together. With the noise becoming more apparent, the two become increasingly separated from their family, friends, and colleagues and join a group of neighbors who also allegedly hear the sound led by Jo (Gayle Rankin) and Omar (Amr Waked), a couple that delivers strong cult vibes. The pair believes it’s important to lean into “The Hum” and treat it like a gift. Naturally, as Claire and Kyle’s friendship grows, so does doubt from the outside, causing perception to become reality.

Rebecca Hall Is at the Top of Her Game in ‘The Listeners’

The Listeners isn’t just a slow-burn drama with a quiet, eerie temperament. As Tannahill is at the forefront of the adaptation’s layered screenplay, the series captures Claire’s growing obsession with the sound in a dynamic, captivating style. With a psychological toll woven delicately into every scene and interaction, it’s a testament to Hall’s natural magnetism as a performer that draws you into every moment. Whatever Claire is feeling or thinking in those lonely scenes alongside the hum, we are right there with her. Able to convey a deep, conflicted demeanor and apprehension, Hall shows us what it feels like through her eyes, the furrow of her brow, or even a slight frown that speaks deeply to her modest, quiet desperation for answers.

Hall is masterful and profoundly focused on a performance that adds to the story’s haunting tale of isolation, longing, and faith. As an actress known for moving seamlessly between roles that demand intensity and vulnerability, like The Prestige or The Night House, Hall is at the top of her game in The Listeners. With an emotional profundity unseen in previous performances, she immerses herself into a world that deftly manages the complexities of loneliness and confusion with masterful fortitude. In those moments when it’s just her versus the hum, how she commands the scene to rely on subtlety speaks to the strength of her craft. When Claire sees doctors with her husband Paul, the tattered sophistication of her anxieties bubble to the surface to create inner tension between the couple, and bring out another side of the performer. While only two episodes were made available to the press, Hall’s undeniable screen presence through Claire’s quiet intensity lingers with you long after.

‘The Listeners’ Leans Into Obsessions Through Sharp Subtlety

As the novel and its adaptation capture so much of Claire’s growing obsessions with sounds that ultimately isolate her, the series leans into such compulsion through quiet subtleties. It’s this kind of implicitness that is not only central to the story but its understanding of loneliness through Claire. Through the gnawing mania that afflicts her, we can recognize how these hauntings are a bit of a gateway for her, especially in how she spends time with Kyle. Sure, she’s driving away the people who love her the most and making some bad choices about it, but she’s also opening her eyes to new challenges that speak to a reshaping of her identity.

This obsession with the faintest of noises sends the loudest message about Claire’s state of mind, hinting at something deeper that haunts her and distorts her current role. She loves her family, her friends, and her job, but her obsession with “the hum” implies a deeper, more destructive gap in her connection to herself that highlights her emotional and mental welfare. In many ways, Claire’s actions are intentional, and her fixation speaks to a deeper need for building meaningful relationships and connections. It’s easy to empathize with her because she is relatable, but her increasing paranoia detaches her from reality, leading to intense interactions and often destructive behavior that unveils some deeper truths.

Bravo, who is known for boundary-pushing work in Zola and Poker Face, levels up her signature style of alienation in The Listeners. Challenging conventional storytelling through gritty realism and vibrant visuals that align with an arthouse sensibility, the director’s work here exemplifies her unique voice. Like her earlier work in Lemon, Bravo infuses her characters with a lush theatrical sense that also highlights strong, gripping emotional complexities. It’s this kind of intimacy and character-driven core that feeds so much of Hall’s performance.

Emerging as a masterful exploration of isolation and obsessions, The Listeners creates a rich tapestry of existential tension through Hall’s knack for embodying a strong, emotional spirit. Thanks to the familiar writing of Tannahill’s novel with sharp nuance, the BBC production captures the subtleties of human connection and detachment that distort our understanding of reality. Accompanied by a spirited supporting cast, Hall delivers an exceptional performance — a career-best among a plethora. With the series intertwining the psychological depths of loneliness with the eerie presence of the inexplicable “hum,” the four-part series works to provoke strong reflections on shades of isolation, perception, and the fragility of our connections. It’s illuminating and interesting in the best ways, and with more to unravel as Claire discovers the origins of the hum, The Listeners solidifies its place as one of the year’s most thought-provoking dramas.

Days of our Lives Comings and Goings: Jada EXIT Confirmed by Elia Cantu – 5 Huge Departures!

Published

on

Days of our Lives Comings and Goings: Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu)

Days of Our Lives Coming and Goings updates include Elia Cantu confirming she wrapped her run as Jada Hunter and some other big ins and outs, including five more exits and a couple of new faces cropping up. We’re going to get into the latest ins and outs and the revolving door of cast at Days.

Days of Our Lives: Elia Cantu Wraps as Jada Hunter

So, we’ve got several big pieces of casting news for you in this update. But let’s start with Jada Hunter leaving Salem. So, this week, actress Elia Cantu herself announced on her social media that she is saying goodbye to Days of Our Lives. So, if you don’t remember, the actress made her debut as Jada on the soap on July 19th, 2022. And at the time, she popped up in town applying for a detective position with the Salem PD. And if you don’t remember, Elia Cantu’s character is a legacy. Her dad is Dr. Marcus Hunter (Richard Biggs), who was last seen, I think, back in like 1992.

And we got the first hint of Jada maybe exiting when Elia Cantu was dropped from the Days credits back in March. So at that time it looked like okay she’s been dropped off contract she’ll be recurring. You know that was the assumption whenever that happens is that we would keep seeing her as Jada Hunter. And between 2022 and now almost four years later we have watched her get a lot closer to Shawn Brady (Brandon Beamer). And of course, Jada was promoted to the position of police commissioner. But we do not know her final exit date yet.

Elia Cantu Expresses Her Gratitude to DOOL

Now, in her announcement where she confirmed her exit, Elia said it was an honor having portrayed Jada Louise Hunter. And she thanked the cast, the crew, and the fans. And she says she’s excited for her next adventure, whatever that may be. So far, I haven’t seen any new projects, though, on her IMDb page. And if you recall, her co-star and scene partner Brandon Beemer, who plays Shawn Brady, was actually fired before they brought him back. That was back in 2023 when they also asked Ari Zucker, Camila Banus, Martha Madison, Nadia Bjorlin, and others as part of what was known as the Albert Allar bloodbath.

But right now, Jada is in the thick of things, front and center. She may possibly have to arrest her best friend Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) for shooting at Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins). Plus, Jada and Shawn are heating up this week. They are getting into a real romance soon and are probably hitting the sheets again soon. And fortunately, thanks to that 9-to-10-month advance tape to air delay for Days of Our Lives, we will get to see more of Jada with Shawn before Elia Cantu wraps her run should be in early 2027.

Days of Our Lives: Multiple Exits Coming Soon

So, maybe Jada and Shawn leave town together because Days seems to be exiting people in pairs right now. Because don’t forget when the actors came back from their holiday break in January, Carson Boatman, Raven Bowens, Leo Howard, and Ashley Puzemis all got pink slips in their Christmas stockings in lieu of a bonus. So, we will be saying goodbye to Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) and Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) in just a few months.

Now, currently, Johnny and Chanel are going through her high-risk pregnancy, with the breast cancer complication. And there’s corporate drama with DiMera Enterprises, including EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) doing more bad stuff that Johnny’s having to answer to as CEO alongside Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson), who’s helping him. So, Chanel and Johnny may take their kids and leave Salem to get away from EJ. Unless, of course, Johnny loses Chanel to her cancer. And then he picks up and takes his kids to go live near his mom, Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), in Italy so he can have help raising Trey and Quattro and get away from EJ.

Tate Black Exits Days

We’ll also see the last of Tate Donovan Black (Leo Howard) and Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) because right now Sophia’s mom, Amy Choi (Shi Ne Nielson), wants to sue Holly in civil court over Sophia’s apparent suicide. Her body hasn’t been found and that means Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) continues to get away with murder framed as a suicide. But you never know, Sophia might be alive and plotting somewhere.

She could come back and do something to Tate and Holly. Or Tate and Holly could head to Paris to escape Salem drama and Amy Choi and she could pick up and go to the Sorbonne and they could be near her mom Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) and his uncle Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan).

Also coming soon, Holly and Tate are going to be up at the hospital with Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey). And Holly is denying that she’s back on pills. It looks like some were found on her. And she’s screaming at Tate to get out. So maybe they break up. Holly heads to Paris. So, Tate heads to be with his mom, Teresa Donovan (Emily O’Brien), out west.

Days of Our Lives: Lexie’s Six-Month Return and Other Changes

Next, another exit coming up is actress Nikki Crawford, who plays Lexie Carver. Her stint on the Peacock sudser was only a six-month run. So, the actress Nikki Crawford wrapped her run months ago and has moved on. And now it’s just a matter of waiting to see when and how Lexie makes her Salem exit once again.

Her first air date was March 6, so Nikki Crawford’s half a year run should wrap up sometime around early September. And Lexie is already experiencing symptoms from Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) resurrection serum. You know, it’s not easy being brought back from the dead after 15 years frozen in a person pod.

To me, this all seems like a big waste of time really to bring Lexie back just to kill her off again so soon. You know, maybe she really won’t die. But we’ll agree to let Ralph and EJ refreeze her in that tube, you know, at least until they can figure out how to bring her back for good. Or maybe Lexie will refuse and decide she wants to pass away peacefully.

Days of our Lives: Jada Hunter

Days of our Lives: Kristen DiMera Out

And finally, we’re also going to see Kristen DiMera leaving Salem over the summer. Stacy Haiduk’s character seems to be snatched by EJ or, you know, more likely a goon on his payroll. Once he finds out that Kristen tried to get Sophia to kill Johnny, it’s all over for her. EJ is going to take her out like yesterday’s trash.

Fortunately for Stacy Haiduk, she has moved on to another juicy soap role and is appearing as Patty Williams over on Young and the Restless. She’s absolutely killing it on Y&R, playing basically another crazy bad girl up to no good.

Days Cast Changes and New Arrivals

Also, we are expecting Al Calderon’s last air date as Javi Hernandez at any moment now. Al left when he landed a role on NBC prime time drama Brilliant Minds. But that’s actually kind of bad news for him since it was just abruptly cancelled. It’s not going to get another season. In the meantime, Jacob Martinez has taken over the role of Javi. Things are getting interesting for him right now since his new boyfriend Gus (Michael Ocampo) is moving to Salem after landing a firefighter gig there. We will meet the new hottie on June 30th.

In other comings and goings news, Peter Porte is back as hottie Dimitri von Leuschner DiMera this summer and Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) just told Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) she’s getting nonstop hate text from Dimitri who is taunting her to keep spending his money now because it’s not going to last forever. He’s going to get evidence to take her down. So, when he’s back, Leo is trying to get Dimitri to cut a deal with him after he rejects some kind of offer from Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering).

Plus, in early 2027, we are going to see Sofia Mattsson make her Days of Our Lives debut. She was last seen on General Hospital and now she has a new contract role on Days. I think you guys are really, really going to love her. So, right now they are saying that she is playing a brand new character. But me personally, I suspect that that new character might turn out to be Abigail DiMera, basically with amnesia, who turns out to not be a new character. We’ll see. Sofia Mattsson honestly has the perfect look to be recast Abigail. But we won’t find out for another six months.

Rihanna Seemingly Addresses Baby Rumors, Talks "Little Pouch"

Karmelo Anthony was sentenced for the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf during a 2025 Texas track meet, and Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalf, is now speaking out about the emotions he experienced in the aftermath. He described the range of emotions as he reflected on the court’s decision and what comes next for both families.

Jeff Metcalf Shares Response To Sentencing Outcome

Although Jeff Metcalf has been vocal about the pain of losing his 17-year-old son, he revealed that he also felt sympathy while watching Karmelo Anthony, now 19, learn his fate in court. Anthony was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to 35 years in prison. Speaking about the moment, Jeff told CBS News, “I’ll even say this: I had a little bit of sorrow because I’m human.” He continued, “And that poor boy is fixing to experience a life that I would not wish upon anyone.”

Jeff also explained that his decision to forgive Anthony was rooted in his own healing process rather than reconciliation. “Forgiveness was not for him. Forgiveness was for me,” he said. “So I don’t carry the rage, the hate, and that around; it will eat me up like cancer.” While expressing compassion, Jeff made it clear that he still believes Anthony should have received a harsher punishment.

Metcalf Rejects Race Claims In Case

The sentence allows for a parole review in the future, but Jeff said he intends to oppose any effort to secure Anthony’s release. “If I’m still alive, yes, I will be there in person,” he said. Jeff continued, “If not, I am going to make a video. If I’m passed on, that can be played.” Jeff also addressed ongoing claims that race played a role in the case, rejecting that narrative. “This case was never about race,” he claimed.

He added, “There’s going to be those people now, just, you know, trying to throw shade on the whole trial with the jury makeup and the speed of it and that sort of thing. I mean, those are the same people that said he was jumped by four people. You’re going to spin whatever story to try to keep yourself afloat.” The comments come as the highly publicized case continues to spark discussion online, with many reflecting on the loss of Austin Metcalf, the future Karmelo Anthony is facing, and the lasting impact the tragedy has had on both families.

What Metcalf’s Twin Brother Said To Karmelo In Court?

Austin Metcalf’s twin brother delivered an emotional victim impact statement following the sentencing of Karmelo Anthony, who received 35 years in prison. Hunter Metcalf addressed Anthony in court, reflecting on the impact of the loss on his family and the life milestones his brother will no longer be part of.

You took a son, a brother, a friend, and my best friend, from this world. You took someone from me who was supposed to be an uncle, godfather to my kids. Now I want everything taken from you,” Hunter said, according to CBS Texas. He also reportedly said, “eventually your name will be forgotten.”

Snooki Spent ‘Thousands’ On Purses After Cancer Call

Snooki

When “Jersey Shore” star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi learned she was diagnosed with cancer, the veteran reality star had an emotional breakdown. But that’s not all. In a new interview, the mother of three revealed that she also treated herself to a ton of luxury items as a way to help her cope with her feelings.

Speaking with Us Weekly, the MTV mainstay said that she was hysterical after learning she had been diagnosed with cancer. “I called my mom, crying, like, ‘Schedule my funeral, this is what I want,’ like, being so dramatic,” she said.

According to Snooki, who shares three kids with husband Jionni LaValle, she was emotional for three days before shifting her perspective. “… I was like, ‘You’re a bad b-tch, you’re going to be fine, you tackle everything,’” she said.

Later, Snooki treated herself to a luxury shopping spree at Short Hills Mall in New Jersey, spending a hefty amount on luxury goods. “… [I] spent, like, thousands of dollars. Then, after that mental breakdown, I was like, ‘Alright, let’s get this done,’” she revealed.

On her shopping trip, Snooki bought two Louis Vuitton bags before going to Gucci, where she purchased shoes and another bag.

Snooki Opened Up About Her Medical Diagnosis In An Emotional TikTok Video In January 2026

For those who may be unfamiliar, Snooki opened up about her medical diagnosis with her social media followers in January 2026, per The Blast. At the time, the “Jersey Shore” OG said that she had to undergo a complicated medical procedure, during which her doctor found “cancerous cells” on her cervix.

While frightening, Snooki said her goal was to help inform others about the importance of testing and speaking with medical professionals about their bodies. “The reason why my doctor’s on my a** all the time is because I waited,” she revealed.

“I waited on my d-mn appointments because I knew I might not get great results, but also because I didn’t want to feel the pain. I didn’t want to deal with the stress of having to deal with all of this,” she continued.

Snooki Called Being A Woman A ‘Scary’ Thing

Elsewhere in her video, Snooki opened up about using her platform to help inform others and spread awareness. “Just making this video to spread awareness to make sure you get your pap smears. And if your doctor calls you to do it again, do it,” the beloved TV personality said. “Make sure you’re fine and prevent all the bad things that could happen, like cervical cancer.”

According to the Cleveland Clinic, pap smears are “lifesaving” screenings for cervical cancer, adding that the tests can detect “abnormal cells” before they become cancerous. The health center recommends that people with a cervix between the ages of 21 and 30 should get tested at least once every three years. Individuals between the ages of 30 and 65 should be tested once every five years.

In her emotional TikTok video, Snooki got even more candid, saying, “Being a woman is not easy and this is definitely a scary thing. I know I’m going to be fine. It’s just scary.”

This isn’t the first time that Snooki has opened up about her body. According to a previous report from The Blast, the Messy Mawma owner recalled undergoing a breast augmentation and likening It to feeling like a “dump truck” was on her chest.

“I woke up and it was like [there was] a dump truck on my [chest],” the reality star confessed. “I couldn’t breathe. I was freaking out.”

Despite the pressure, Snooki said she’d do it all again. In fact, she’s planning on that. “I want to do that again eventually,” she said.

Can Fans Expect To See Polizzi On Any Other Reality Shows In The Future?

During an exclusive interview with The Blast, Snooki revealed whether her fans could ever expect to see her on any other reality shows, such as Peacock’s “The Traitors.”

“No – I’m a fan of them, but no, just because I can’t leave my kids for more than 3 days now. That’s a big commitment! That’s like how we used to film back in the day, like you’re stuck in the house with cameras all over you for a month and a half, and I wouldn’t be able to see my kids, so no, I can’t do it,” she said.

Beyond the Gates Early Spoilers June 15-19: Eva & Kat Form Surprise Alliance – Joey Wins Big!

Published

on

Beyond the Gates Spoilers: Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle)- Kat Richardson (Colby Muhammad) - Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom)

Beyond the Gates early spoilers for June 15th through the 19th, include the aftermath of the tornado carnage. Plus, Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle) and Kat Richardson (Colby Muhammad) do some trauma bonding.

Plus, Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) gets some kudos after something he does helps out during the disaster and he gets recognized for that.

As we always do on early edition day, we start with what’s coming the last couple episodes of this week. Then we dive into next week’s action.

Beyond the Gates: Tornado Strikes Fairmont Crest Country Club

And so on Thursday, June 11th, we know that the tornado has made a direct strike on the Fairmont Crest Country Club. At the end of Wednesday’s episode, we had Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) making his speech and then ducking out. He apparently took off to fly back to Genoa City. Because he is on the Thursday episode of The Young and the Restless, which is kind of insane since we heard on BTG that aircraft were grounded. Because of the storm. They don’t fly in tornadoes. But oh well.

Meanwhile, Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) were trying to hustle people out of there to safety while Kat was trying to blame the tornado on Dana “Leslie” Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) for being a witch. And Eva clapped back on Kat. But the important thing is that the two half-sisters are standing side by side when things get even worse. The tornado seemed to take out part of the roof and glass went everywhere and people were screaming and there is more danger to come.

BTG Eva and Kat Trauma Bond During Crisis

So, Thursday Beyond the Gates spoilers say that Eva and Kat must work together. This might be a big moment for Eva and Kat’s sister bond to actually take a giant leap forward. And Tomas Navarro (Alex Alegria) wasn’t standing next to Eva and Kat. He’s been schmoozing clients all night on Bill Hamilton’s (Timon Kyle Durrett) very direct orders to act like an ambulance chaser at this fundraiser. So it could be that Eva and Kat work together to try and help Tomas who might be trapped in the rubble.

This week Ted Richardson (Maurice Johnson) makes his way over to his daughters and he freaks out. Because he sees blood on Kat and he thinks that she is bleeding and injured and Ted is frantic and he wants to check her over. But then Kat is crying and she says it is not her blood. Now Izaiah Hawthorne (David Lami Friebe) is standing right there nearby so he’s safe. And then Ted’s asking Kat whose blood is it. Now hopefully it’s not Eva’s but you never know.

Tomas might be hurt or it could be just some rando. I don’t think any of the main characters are going to be killed. And that was confirmed in a recent interview. Actress Daphnée Duplaix who plays the role of Nicole, did an interview alongside Victor Newman actor Eric Braeden. And they both said that everybody comes out of the ordeal. Okay, so we might find out some extras were casualties. But the named characters are all okay.

Beyond the Gates: Chandelier Danger and Elevator Crisis

Still, somebody might get hurt because also on Thursday, looks like the chandelier at the Fairmont Crest Ballroom is going to come crashing down. There’s already a power outage and it looks like Haley Lawson (Marquita Goings) might be in danger and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is there to save her. She tells him he saved her and I think this is more than just saving her by getting champagne. Of all the people for Kyle to save though, I mean Haley, if Kyle let her get squashed, then she couldn’t keep poisoning her husband Bill. But after what happens with Kyle and Haley, looks like Kyle kisses her. So maybe Haley’s going to run off to Genoa City looking for her next mark after all of this.

And speaking of her husband, Bill is in the elevator with his ex-wife Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley). They stepped into the lift at the very tail end of Wednesday’s episode and the BTG spoilers say that these two have to rely on each other during this disaster. So, it looks like the elevator lurches and maybe Bill grabs Dani or she falls into his arms. And then Bill is telling Dani basically, you know, calm down.

And he says, the power’s out. There’s nothing left for us to do but just wait for help. And she asked Bill when has he ever just waited. So, during this crisis, given how much he and Dani have been thinking about the past lately and talking about it, will they wind up crossing lines? Well, we’ll have to just wait and see.

Beyond the Gates: Martin in Danger

Also, Martin may be trapped because Smitty is calling out to him saying, “Martin, if you can hear me,” yada yada. So, when the chandelier comes down, maybe the congressman gets pinned down. On the plus side, surviving a tragedy like this could be free press for his reelection campaign.

Beyond the Gates: Friday – Heroism and Consequences

And then on Friday, June 12th’s episode of Beyond the Gates, we’re going to see Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli) Nicole, and Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman). They are in the dark checking with Ted. This is after the chandelier crashes down. Looks like they’re assessing things and the ladies are panicking and Kat and Eva’s dad is going to be running around putting out fires, facing one crisis after another.

Because lots of people need a doctor. So with Vanessa along with them, that means Joey is elsewhere, the guy who Martin didn’t even want there. And it looks like Joey may do something heroic because Beyond the Gates spoilers say that a VIP at the fundraiser winds up owing Joey a favor. Maybe also an apology depending on who it is.

Another spoiler says that a couple has to go to extremes and they take drastic measures during this crisis. But these measures result in some harsh consequences. So, I do wonder if that’s related to whatever is going on with Bill and Dani in the elevator. But we also have Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacob) and Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne (Arielle Prepetit) alone in the bridal suite at the Fairmont Crest. They seem to be separated from everybody for a reason.

If you saw Wednesday’s episode, you know that horrible Anastasia said some terrible things to Ashley that triggered her. So, I wonder if the tornado might have struck that room as well. Or maybe Naomi and Ashley make it down to the ballroom. That way, the grieving nurse can help Ted do triage. The good thing is there’s a couple of doctors there, Ted and Nicole, and some nurses, Shanice Johnson (Ernestine Johnson) and Ashley.

BTG Spoilers: Jack Helps Out During Tornado

Also, Anita sees something peculiar and she issues a warning. Plus, we have Vernon panicking. He’s trying to get Anita to get out of the ballroom to safety. Also, this week, Young and the Restless crossover guest Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) has his tux jacket off, his tie undone.

He looks disheveled, possibly with a little blood on him. And Jack is looking down at somebody. So, he might be doing some heroic rescue efforts as well, while Victor just took off to save his own butt, which if you watch Y&R, pretty typical.

Beyond the Gates: June 15th-19th – Aftermath and New Dangers

Also, the week of June 15th through the 19th, we are going to be seeing the devastating aftermath of the tornado. We’ll find out who was injured and who came out unscathed, who was a hero and who might have been a coward. Haley may double down on dosing Bill after this, especially if she finds out something happened with him and Dani in the elevator and thinks her time gold digging might be up. And also, if Haley’s got her eye on Kyle as her next mark, she might have another reason to escalate her kill Bill plans.

We’ll also find out more on the consequences that that one couple faces because of the measures they took during the disaster. I’m interested to see if Leslie comes out of all this unscathed. I had joked about a house falling on her Wizard of Oz style in my weekly Beyond the Gates spoilers video and then Kat kind of made that same joke to Eva. So, if Leslie gets squished a little, I can’t say I would be disappointed.

The other Genoa City people make their exit safe and sound heading back to Young and the Restless. That includes Jack, Diane, Kyle, Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton James), and his wife Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway). And they all survived just fine. So, we’ll see if this ordeal brings Eva and Kat closer and if it brings Bill and Dani way too close. Plus, we should get more on Heather Armstrong (Ashley Jones) and what’s next for her, including trouble that she’s bringing to her brother Joey’s doorstep.

Margaret Qualley's Raunchy, R-Rated Comedy On Netflix Is A Star-Studded Ball Of Confusion

By TeeJay Small
| Published

I recently sat down to watch 2025’s Honey Don’t on Netflix, and quickly learned that the film’s title is actually little more than an instruction manual. The movie offers some really quirky dialogue, solid performances, and a stacked cast of A-listers who I usually love. Unfortunately, the movie has no proper ending, so just about everything leading up to the credits feels like a gigantic waste of time. When the credit scroll began, I genuinely felt like I must have somehow received a bootlegged copy of the film which mistakenly cut off the entire final act.

A Hard-Boiled Noir Comedy

Honey Don't 2025

Let’s get into it. Honey Don’t is a neo-noir black comedy written and directed by Joel Coen. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Joel is one half of the famed Coen brothers filmmaking duo, responsible for delivering such classics as The Big Lebowski, Fargo, and Burn After Reading. Known for their quirky and stylized material, I went into this film expecting something a little out there, but walked away super disappointed. My frustration was only exacerbated by the insane amount of star power in this cast, which consists of Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Evans, and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia‘s Charlie Day.

The plot of Honey Don’t centers on the eponymous Honey O’Donahue (Margaret Qualley). She’s a slick-talking private detective with an eye for beautiful women and even more beautiful classic cars. After a concerned late-night call from a client, Honey wakes up to learn that a young woman has been found dead on the side of the road, in a suspicious car wreck. While investigating alongside the local police, Honey locates a stack of self-help books and some funky church robes, cluing her in to some kind of twisted conspiracy.

Honey Don't 2025

Meanwhile, Chris Evans portrays a charismatic, womanizing cult leader named Reverend Drew Devlin. Devlin runs a church known as the Four-Way Temple, where he beds young female congregants and forces the men to traffic drugs to fund the practice. He has a series of French suppliers who have become increasingly frustrated with his erratic behavior, which has led to a number of botched hit jobs in recent weeks. Honey catches wind of this operation and, after stopping to spark up a romance with a police officer named MG (Aubrey Plaza), she pops in to question Devlin.

The questioning is repetitive in a way that feels fun, stylized, and referential to a bygone era of hard-boiled mystery noir films, but ultimately goes nowhere. Just when it looks like Honey has no leads left to explore, her own niece goes missing, and she believes Devlin is to blame. Here’s where things go completely off the rails. Devlin’s storyline wraps up with 40 minutes left in the film, when he’s suddenly killed by his French connect. Then, Honey accidentally learns that it’s her own girlfriend targeting and killing young women, and the whole church cult was just a giant red herring.

The Cinematic Equivalent Of A Tuxedo Fart

Honey Don't 2025

Coen ham-fists some nonsense about MG hating weak-willed women because of her relationship with her dad or something, but none of it scans, and the entire final act falls flat on its face. To paraphrase a line from Always Sunny‘s Dennis Reynolds, the entire film is just a series of crime, then sex scenes, then crime, penetration, crime, penetration, until it just sort of … ends.

Do you remember that job interview scene from the movie Step Brothers, where Seth Rogen digs the vibe of the brothers, and lauds their decision to wear tuxedos instead of suits? Then, after a bout of uncontrollable flatulence, Rogen rethinks his entire position on the brothers, and remarks “now the tuxedos seem kind of f-ed up.” That’s a perfect metaphor for how I felt watching this entire movie.

Honey Don't 2025

At first, I was pumped about the weird dialogue choices, the period style aesthetic, and that bizarre transatlantic accent Margaret Qualley is halfway pulling off. Once I realized the movie has no ending, and each plot thread goes basically nowhere, all of those things became a frustrating waste of time.

I’m still really disappointed that I didn’t enjoy this movie more, but Honey Don’t is on Netflix now, in case you want to give it a spin for yourself.
