Katsanevas spoke to Entertainment Tonight‘s Brice Sander ahead of the “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” season seven premiere. Early in the conversation, he mentioned the rumors of her separation after describing a difficult period in her life.

The “RHOSLC” star said, “Yes, we are going to be separating.” After that, she said she wanted to be vulnerable in the new season, calling this phase of her life “a new season of life.” She was then asked if there had been a “breaking point” in her marriage to Trujillo.

Katsanevas responded, “No, there’s nothing. There’s not just one thing. I mean, it’s just two people evolving.” Regarding her being “defensive” in past “RHOSLC” seasons, she explained, “What I was defensive about in seasons three and four were false rumors and accusations.”

Regarding now, Katsanevas stated, “I can be honest and talk about my truth, and it’s not a rumor; it’s not about something someone said that’s an untruth about your partner.” She added, “Of course I’d be defensive.”

As the Entertainment Tonight interview continued, Katsanevas made it clear that she harbors no ill will toward her husband and still defends him. According to her, “I would never want anyone to speak ill of Shawn,” before noting their decades-long union.

She continued, “We’re husband and wife, we’re best friends, all of our greatest accomplishments have been together- our business, our daughter.” From there, Katsanevas vowed to “always be protective of him.” However, she then said, “But, again, that was me being defensive of rumors and lies versus now I’m telling my story. I’m telling my truth and our truth.”

When asked about their future, she said they were “moving toward separating and having space and spending more time independently.” She confirmed that this was the state of her marriage during “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” season seven.

Katsanevas also confirmed that they currently reside in the same home. She also shared that their separation won’t affect their shared business. She explained, “We’ll always remain business partners no matter what we decide to do.”

Angie Katsanevas Has Been Married For 27 Years

Katsanevas and Trujillo tied the knot in June 1999 after initially meeting in the early 1990s. Around the same time, the couple co-founded Lunatic Fringe Salons, which is still active today. Fast-forward several years, and she joined “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” in 2022 as a friend of the show before being promoted to full-time in season four.

Sadly, in July 2026, Page Six reported that the two had separated, with multiple sources telling the outlet that they were no longer romantic. It was also noted that the “RHOSLC” star publicly acknowledged her 27th wedding anniversary, even though she did so the year prior.

The ‘Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City’ Fan-Favorite Previously Discussed Her Separation

Katsanevas spoke to Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” in September 2026 about the upcoming season of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.” During the interview, she also discussed her breakup with her husband of 27 years.

She first said, “I’ve been amazed at how many people are curious as to what’s going on in my personal life. The viewers fall in love with you, and your family, and your story.”

In describing where they stand today in their non-romantic relationship, Katsanevas explained, “Shawn and I are business partners; we’re family; we’re husband and wife of 30 years; we’re best friends.” She also said they “talk about the process” of their separation “a lot” on the new season of “RHOSLC.”

Brand New Day Becomes Highest-Grossing Domestic Movie Ever

Published

on

Resident Evil First Reactions Praise Zach Cregger’s “Gloriously Gory” Reboot

The first reactions to Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil have arrived, and the filmmaker behind Barbarian and Weapons may have another horror hit on his hands.

Early reactions to Sony Pictures’ latest attempt at bringing the iconic video game franchise to the big screen are overwhelmingly enthusiastic, with critics praising the film’s gore, humor, scares and commitment to the survival-horror atmosphere of the games.

Cregger’s Resident Evil follows Austin Abrams as a medical courier who finds himself caught in a zombie outbreak while attempting to make a delivery to Raccoon City General Hospital. Cregger co-wrote the screenplay alongside Shay Hatten, with Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser also starring.

While the film tells an original story rather than adapting one of the games directly, the early word suggests Cregger has captured what makes Resident Evil work.

Flickering Myth critic EJ Moreno called the movie a “true horror blockbuster,” adding:

“Zach Cregger goes bigger, scarier, and at his most fun.”

Moreno also said Resident Evil is the type of movie that should be experienced “on the biggest screen with a big crowd.”

Mark Cassidy offered similarly strong praise, arguing that despite not featuring familiar characters or storylines from the games, the movie successfully taps into their relentless tension.

“Zach Cregger has actually delivered the most faithful take yet.”

Cassidy described the film as “very bloody, very funny” and revealed that it managed to make him jump three times.

Kellvin Chavez was even more enthusiastic, praising a movie that apparently wastes little time getting started.

“Zach Cregger delivers relentless suspense, gloriously gory action.”

Chavez also highlighted what he described as twisted, The Thing-like creature designs and called the movie “pure survival horror.”

Film critic Tristian Circa ‘89 praised the balance between horror and comedy, saying the movie is “just as intense and horrifying as you’d expect” while still incorporating humor. He also singled out Abrams as an everyman protagonist whose natural charm makes him easy to root for.

Variety’s Jordan Moreau delivered perhaps the strongest reaction of the bunch, calling Resident Evil:

“One of the best video game adaptations ever made.”

Moreau also called it one of the best recent horror movies and praised Abrams’ performance as he stumbles his way through the zombie outbreak.

One of the biggest questions surrounding Cregger’s take on the franchise has been his decision to tell an original story.

The new movie does not center on established Resident Evil characters such as Leon S. Kennedy or Jill Valentine. Cregger has previously acknowledged the criticism surrounding that decision, but these early reactions suggest his film may compensate by remaining faithful to the atmosphere, tension and survival-horror experience of the games.

The franchise has already produced seven live-action theatrical films, beginning with the Milla Jovovich-led Resident Evil in 2002 and most recently returning to theaters with Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City in 2021. The films have collectively earned more than $1.2 billion worldwide.

Now Cregger gets his opportunity to take audiences back to Raccoon City.

Resident Evil hits theaters September 18.

Days of our Lives Early Spoilers Sept 21-25: Sarah Faces Peril as EJ Erupts in Rage

Published

on

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) - EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel)

Days of Our Lives early spoilers for next week starting September 21st with Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) in danger. Because she did something rash that put a target on her back. Plus, when EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) is back from Italy, he explodes because nothing is going his way.

Also, the week of September 21st-25th, we’ve got Sydney DiMera (Sydney Malakeh) making a connection right when she’s back to Salem. Rita Lesley (Maggie Carney) continues to lie and Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) is losing it. Let’s dive right in. And as we always do on early edition day, we’ll go over what’s happening the rest of this week, then get into what is coming next week. So, let’s talk about it.

Days of our Lives Spoilers: Thoe Super Suspicious of Johnny

Wednesday, September 16th on Days. Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews) is just getting more suspicious of Johnny by the day. Theo knows Johnny’s hiding something big and he really doesn’t want to conduct DiMera business this way. And Theo is already suspicious and then when Johnny tried to block him from the DiMera Pharmaceuticals meeting with George O’Halloran (Michael Rose), it amped it up.

So now, Theo is really watching him. Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) and Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) compare notes and I’m guessing that Brady’s going to tell Steve about Sarah making the official complaint against DiMera Pharmaceuticals. Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) thought that was a very bad idea and put a target on her.

I’m curious to see if Steve agrees with Xander or with Sarah. Lani Price (Sal Stowers) thinks about her future in Salem. And of course, she’s only filling in at Sweet Bits while Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) is finishing her cancer treatment. And recovering from delivering her baby.

I would personally love to see Lani going to work at Black Patch. With Brady and Steve. Sarah and her ex-hubby Xander separately contemplate their past and them losing their way. Soon, Sarah reconsiders choosing Brady. And she and Xander will eventually get back on the road for a reunion. But there’s a few more challenges in the way.

DOOL Spoilers: Chad Shoots Belle Down

Thursday, September 17th, on Days of Our Lives, Chad DiMera (Connor Floyd) says no to Belle Black‘s (Martha Madison) suggestion. So, they are still in Rome. They suspect that Dominic Marino has a tie to Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) after finding that photo. Plus, they were alarmed when EJ pointed out all the things in Dominic’s home that are favorite items of Stefano’s.

So, Chad may worry that things are just getting too weird and too risky and may just want to take Belle home to Salem. We should also get more scenes soon of Dominic with Dante Vitali (Franco LoPresti) and find out more about how these two are tied together. Sydney surprises her dad EJ.

We know that her stepdad to be Dante was back in Rome after the sketchy poker game to meet with Dominic. So, it looks like Sydney traveled back to Rome with Dante and then goes to find her dad, EJ. Who is likely going to convince Sydney to come back to Salem with him. Her return is good timing since EJ is being investigated on multiple fronts.

So, he may need a really good lawyer. I’m interested to see with Sydney all grown up whether she’s going to be more like EJ or more like Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney). Or a truly alarming combination of EJ and Sami, which is a little scary to contemplate.

Lani listens to Theo’s confession and this may be about his suspicions about EJ and Johnny and the pharmaceutical stuff. So, we may see Lani interested in helping him look into what is going on given her law enforcement past.

Days Spoilers: Sydney Comes Home

Friday, September 18th on Days of Our Lives, Sydney returns with EJ to Salem and Rita is at the mansion to welcome Mr. and Miss DiMera home. After dropping off her bags and saying hi to Rita, we’ll see Sydney head to the Brady Pub to see Grandpa Roman Brady (Josh Taylor). And new guy Mason Whitfield (Brandon Butler)’s there, and he and Sydney are going to meet. Once she’s out of the way, EJ questions Rita on what she found out about Dominic Marino, and I fully expect her to lie right to EJ’s face.

Rita has been misleading EJ for a good long while now. Because she is loyal to another DiMera at this point. While alone in the DiMera mansion living room, Rita looks up at Stefano’s portrait and says, “It’s all playing out as you planned, sir.” Rita now seems completely loyal to Dominic, which is why she sent him EJ’s Phoenix ring that Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) gave to him after Stefano’s memorial. Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) and Arianna Horton (Vico Escorcia) have a heart-to-heart about Mason being a jerk to her. We should see Ari telling Holly about Mason mentioning Holly being involved in someone’s death.

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) - EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel)Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) - EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel)
Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) – EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel)

Days of our Lives Spoilers: Ari & Holly Suspicious

And so between the two girls, Ari and Holly may quickly suspect this must have some kind of tie to Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd). Chad is back and confronts Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord). We saw Chad already chewed Chloe out once when he found out Lexie Carver (Nikki Crawford) was in the tunnel and that Cat knew.

And Chad thinks she didn’t tell anybody. And Cat actually told Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) and asked her to make sure that word got back to Theo. So, we’ll see if EJ mentioned to Chad that Cat used to be ISA, trying to see if Chad has any information on whether Cat is still ISA.

At this point, Chad seems truly done with Cat and is completely moved on to Belle. Marlena talks to Belle and Chad about the new clues they found in Rome at Dominic Marino’s house. And Marlena is going to tell Belle this week that the name Marino means of the sea, which is the same thing that DiMera means. Our leaker confirmed to us that Dominic is Stefano and Marlena’s son.

So, because it’s a leak, I’m filing it under rumor. But I am anticipating official spoilers that this will come to fruition. Then September 21st-25th Days of Our Lives, we’re going to find out if Philip Kiriakis’ (John-Paul Lavoisier) big win is enough to shut down EJ and his takeover of Titan. It sounded like Philip and his big gamble were enough. But there’s false spoilers that say the Kiriakis family is forced to rebuild from the ashes. So, maybe there’s another obstacle that comes in their way and it might have something to do with Dominic.

DOOL Spoilers: EJ Ecstatic to See Sydney

EJ is genuinely thrilled to have his daughter Sydney in Salem. And I wonder if EJ is going to want Sydney working at DiMera or keeping her far from it. I’m also wondering if he does if EJ will read Sydney into the corporate mess or if he’s going to hide this from his daughter. Mason and Sydney may have a mutual dislike of Holly given Sydney and Holly’s past as stepsisters. Because you know Sydney is team EJ and we know Holly is team Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker). Johnny is starting to cave under the pressure.

But now that EJ is back, maybe he can help Johnny cope with all the secret keeping, teach him how to lie a little better. Because at the rate that Johnny is going, he’s going to fall apart and Chanel’s going to figure it all out. Cat may need to watch her every move. Chad and Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) both suspect that Cat still works for the ISA, and EJ is worried about the exact same thing. Plus, Rita is now watching Cat as well. Marlena issues Belle a warning about the risks of this chess set mystery.

I’m super curious to see if Chad or Belle snapped a picture of the picture of Stefano with the little boy and the nineteen ninety-two written on it so they can show it to Marlena and see if it triggers anything for her. She’s been having island dreams and if that boy is hers that’s where she would have been when the kid was born.

Days Spoilers: Dominic Debut for November Sweeps?

I’m also wondering if Days of Our Lives is going to hold off introducing Dominic until November sweeps, which starts October 29th about six weeks from now. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Chad, Belle, Marlena, and the fans were all left hanging until then without answers.

Rita may be eager to welcome her new boss, Dominic, to Salem. But you know that when he does, EJ is going to lose it on Rita and demand to know why she betrayed the family. Except in her mind, she is still loyal to Stefano and also to this secret son of Stefano that nobody ever knew about.

Raunchy Animated Animal Adventure Is Garfield Gone Horribly Wrong

By Robert Scucci
| Published

Growing up, we all had that friend who learned all the forbidden four-letter words and decided they would devote their entire personality to working them into conversation as frequently as possible. I was in grade school when South Park burst onto the scene, and I distinctly remember hearing people swear for the sake of swearing because they thought it was cool, not realizing that sometimes a well-placed f-bomb is way more effective than dropping one every other word. I’m guilty of this, but I grew out of it fast. Some people never grow out of it, which brings me to 2016’s Bad Cat, a Turkish adult animated comedy currently marketed as a Tubi Original that plays like a cross between Garfield and Seth MacFarlane’s Ted.

Here’s the thing, though: I almost turned this movie off within 10 minutes because of how profane it was. Not because I’m easily offended by profanity, but because after a certain point, you learn that people mostly swear because they never bothered to expand their vocabulary. But you have to be patient with Bad Cat for reasons that quickly become apparent. The animals in the film simply do not know any better, and the profanity is so embedded into their personalities that you barely even register that they’re swearing after living with these scrappy creatures for a half hour.

An Exercise In Constant Escalation

Bad Cat 2016

Bad Cat follows Shero (Uğur Yücel), a hard-drinking, chain-smoking cat who spends his days hanging around with Riza (Güven Kıraç), a rat, and Rifki (Gökçe Özyol), a seagull, while generally being a menace to everybody around him. Shero is foulmouthed, extremely horny, selfish, and always looking for his next drink, but his already messy life gets significantly worse when his latest attempt to hook up with a female cat goes horribly wrong and her owner, a cartoonist (Okan Yalabık), decides he wants revenge after getting thrown out of a window and splitting his head wide open.

After getting hit with a defibrillator in the ambulance, he comes back as a rage-filled zombie, hellbent on terrorizing our foul-mouthed feline friend and his friends.

Bad Cat 2016

Things get even more complicated when Taco (Demet Evgar), a young kitten claiming to be Shero’s son, shows up looking for his dad. Shero isn’t exactly father material, but Taco sticks around while Shero gets thrown out of his home, falls for an Angora named Misscat (Demet Evgar, again), and tries to stay one step ahead of the increasingly unhinged cartoonist coming after him.

Think Ted meets Garfield, except everybody talks like a bunch of street animals who learned every dirty word in the English language and immediately decided to use all of them, like your friends in third grade who got removed from the classroom almost immediately after they discovered South Park and Beavis & Butt-Head.

Give It A Chance Before You Give Up

Bad Cat 2016

Like I said, the sheer amount of profanity in Bad Cat was off-putting until I realized what was going on here. Shero comes off as a total jerk until you learn that he and his equally foul-mouthed friends are simply products of their environment, which, speaking from an animation standpoint, is so enthralling to look at.

The city streets are full of life and chaos, boasting the kind of aesthetic that comes from the comic that preceded it. Using the most recent Garfield Movie (2024) as the most apt comparison, Bad Cat’s attention to detail is mesmerizing. Every single nook and cranny of the city is exploding with personality and motion that is so frenetic it’s almost dizzying.

Bad Cat 2016

Bad Cat is not for the faint of heart. If there’s ever a movie you need to watch out for if you have kids and the Tubi app on your television, it’s this one. It looks like a kids movie, but brother, it ain’t one. This is the movie you watch with your partner after the kids go down because you’ve been biting your tongue all day while trying to set a good example in your household.

Going into this movie blind, I hated it at first, but when I fully realized what it was trying to do, I had to give credit where it was due. I also need to watch what I say around my family for the next few days because this movie really makes me want to channel the kind of vulgarity my friends and I would get in trouble for exploring during recess when we were in grade school.

As of this writing, Bad Cat is streaming for free on Tubi.

Jessi Draper Teases Mormon Wives Future Amid Cast Exits

Published

on

Everything to Know About RHOSLC Alum Jen Shah's Legal Drama

Several of the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives stars have walked away from the hit reality series — but will Jessi Draper be next?

“I don’t know because I love it so much and it’s not just a show. It’s my real friend group, right? It’s our real lives, and so it’s weird to be like, ‘Well, I’d leave,’ ‘cause those are my friends,” Jessi, 34, said on the Tuesday, September 15, episode of the “Just Trish” podcast. “But, at the same time, being on reality [TV] is hard, like, it’s a lot. It’s our life and it’s so exposed and everyone has opinions.”

She continued, “So there are times when I’m like, ‘I want to quit just because it’s a lot to have the constant opinions and comments’ … but when you meet the [fans] in real life, it is the best experience to know you can make someone’s day by taking a photo with them.”

The JZ Styles founder was among the OG cast on Mormon Wives when the series premiered in 2024. Nearly two years and five seasons later, several of Jessi’s fellow MomTok members have left the show. Demi Engemann walked away after season 3, two seasons before Whitney Leavitt called it quits herself. Jen Affleck, for her part, moved to California this year to star on the show’s Orange County-based spinoff, while Mikayla Matthews revealed earlier this month that season 6 will be her last amid Taylor Frankie Paul’s continued involvement. (Production was briefly halted in March over Taylor, 32, and now-ex Dakota Mortensen’s alleged domestic violence dispute and custody battle.)

Costars Layla Taylor and Mayci Neeley have also hinted via social media that they might not be part of the series forever.

As for Jessi, she told podcast host Trisha Paytas that her own future on Mormon Wives is still up in the air.

“I don’t know how long [I’ll stay],” she quipped. “We’ll see how hard it gets.”

Jessi recently filmed season 6, which has yet to be released, following her divorce from Jordan Ngatikaura.

“Jordan and Dakota are both done filming, which is good, because once you’re an ex, there is no need, I don’t think. I think it’s OK. Wish them the best, but let’s just keep it with the women,” she said. “I think it’s good for both of them to be able to move forward. Like, here’s the thing. Even though me and my ex have had a tumultuous relationship [and] Dakota and Taylor had their thing, I still believe everyone deserves to, like, heal and move on. So, if both of them want the chance to do that, I want that for them.”

News broke this month that Jessi and Jordan, 32, finalized their divorce, agreeing to share custody of their two children. The hairstylist has since moved on with Vanderpump Villa star Marciano Brunette.

Katie Holmes’ Pitch-Black 90s High School Comedy Thriller Proves That Cheaters Always Win

Teaching Mrs. Tingle 1999

By Robert Scucci
| Published

Teaching Mrs. Tingle 1999

I love a solid comedy thriller, and the darker they get, the more I’m drawn to them. My favorite film that nobody ever talks about is 1998’s Very Bad Things, which, to me, is absolute perfection thanks to Christian Slater’s insane commitment to the bit. The movie works so well because his character is a totally deplorable excuse of a human being, but his friends, who actually have a conscience (kind of), try to bring him back to reality when they’ve had enough of his sadistic machinations. That sense of balance as the body count continues to climb is what makes the film such a wild ride.

Cut from a similar cloth, but not nearly as redeemable, is 1999’s Teaching Mrs. Tingle, which boasts a similar character dynamic, except for one minor detail: you don’t really want to root for anybody here. In Very Bad Things, a very bad situation spirals out of control, and we watch our protagonists wrestle with their sense of morality. In Teaching Mrs. Tingle, everybody sucks, and it’s impossible to pick a side, which makes the entire ordeal exhausting. That also explains why the former title borders on cult classic status, while nobody cares about the latter.

Everybody Sucks Here

Teaching Mrs. Tingle 1999

Teaching Mrs. Tingle follows Leigh Ann Watson (Katie Holmes), an overachieving high school senior who desperately wants to become valedictorian so she can earn a scholarship and finally get out of her hometown. Standing in her way is Mrs. Tingle (Helen Mirren), her history teacher and a runt with a capital C who seems to take genuine pleasure in making her students, professional peers, and everybody else she interacts with, miserable.

Despite apparently doing pretty well for herself, judging by the size of her house, Tingle is a bitter and vindictive woman, particularly interested in making sure Leigh Ann doesn’t get what she wants. Things finally boil over when classmate Luke (Barry Watson) steals a copy of Tingle’s final exam, slips it into Leigh Ann’s backpack, and gets her accused of cheating.

Teaching Mrs. Tingle 1999

Leigh Ann, Luke, and her best friend Jo Lynn (Marisa Coughlan) head to Tingle’s house that night hoping they can reason with her, which goes about as well as you’d expect. A confrontation involving a loaded crossbow ends with Tingle unconscious and the three students making the perfectly reasonable decision to tie their teacher to her bed rather than call literally anybody. Once Tingle wakes up, the situation turns into a nasty battle of wills as the students scramble to save Leigh Ann’s future while Tingle starts figuring out exactly which insecurities she can exploit to turn them against each other.

The problem is that nobody has much moral high ground to stand on. Tingle is clearly the biggest monster in the room, but Leigh Ann, Luke, and Jo Lynn are selfish, jealous, and increasingly willing to make terrible decisions whenever it benefits them.

Cheaters Always Win

Teaching Mrs. Tingle 1999

Watching Teaching Mrs. Tingle for the first time since it came out and my older sister rented it with her friends, I really wanted to like this one. I genuinely thought it would play like a PG-13 version of Very Bad Things because the beats are all there. A misunderstanding spirals out of control, and then everybody has to deal with the consequences.

Very Bad Things is well served by its R-rating because some horrific crimes against humanity are being committed and everybody’s navigating the consequences of the fallout in gruesome and hilarious fashion. In this giant steaming turd of a movie, the stakes couldn’t be lower: a girl gets threatened by her teacher, so her friends bring a loaded crossbow to her house. The preposterousness of the entire plot can’t be held up by such unlikeable people because, at the end of the day, these are high school problems that really don’t matter much in the grand scheme of things.

Teaching Mrs. Tingle 1999

And the moral of the story couldn’t be worse for the film’s original target audience: cheaters always win. Had our “heroes” been a little more likeable, though, this could have been a really fun Parent Trap kind of flick where we follow a group of somewhat sympathetic characters who are way in over their heads. We don’t get that here because everybody is the worst version of the character archetype they’re trying to represent. I’m all for a mean-spirited comedy, but everybody’s so comically cruel it damn well takes you right out of the movie.

I found myself asking the question, “If you had to be stranded on a desert island with any these people, who would you pick?” My answer was immediate and simple: all of them, because I’d have absolutely zero qualms about roasting them over a fire and eating them if it meant I had a shot at survival.

As of this writing, you can stream Teaching Mrs. Tingle for free on Tubi.

Man-Accused-of-Stabbing-Girlfriend-and-Her-Child-Is-Sentenced-to-Death

A Florida man accused of torturing two children he adopted, killing one of them, will stand trial next year on several charges, including first-degree murder, attempted murder and child abuse offenses.

Court records viewed by Us reveal Jorge Barahona’s trial was scheduled in Miami-Dade County for March 15, 2027.

Jorge, 59, is set to be tried more than 16 years after his adopted daughter, Nubia Barahona, who was 10 years old, was discovered deceased and decomposed in the back of his truck on the side of a highway in Palm Beach County, the Miami Herald reported. Chemicals were found to be covering her body.

Her twin brother, Victor, was also reportedly found inside the truck with Jorge sitting in the driver’s seat. Police said Victor was experiencing seizures due to chemical burns and that Jorge also had self-inflicted chemical burns.

A man accused of attacking his girlfriend with a shovel and a knife, killing her before fatally stabbing her 4-year-old daughter, has been sentenced to death in Florida, according to court records viewed by Us Weekly. In October 2025, a Hillsborough County jury found Angel Gabriel Cuz Choc guilty of first-degree murder in connection with […]

An investigation revealed Jorge and his ex-wife, Carmen Barahona, extensively abused and tortured Nubia and Victor, who survived, according to the Miami Herald. The alleged abuse included beatings and binding the twins with electrical cords and shocking them while they were in a bathtub, locked inside a bathroom.

Carmen was also charged with murder in Nubia’s death. As part of a plea deal in 2020, Carmen agreed to give testimony and accepted a lifetime prison sentence, per the newspaper.

Her guilty plea came after prosecutors said they would pursue the death penalty for both Jorge and Carmen, according to NBC 6 South Florida.

Jorge’s defense attorney Stephan Lopez told the Miami Herald that he plans to help his client avoid the death penalty.

Lopez argued in an emailed statement to Us on Wednesday, September 16, that prosecutors lack enough evidence to support the charges against Jorge.

“There are many legal issues involving the Barahona case, the tragic death of this beautiful child cannot be undone by improperly stacking a list of unprovable charges against Jorge Barahona and seeking to put him to death based on those charges,” Lopez said. “The Defense wholeheartedly believes that after 15 years to gather it, the State’s case is legally insufficient and does not establish that Jorge Barahona committed the first-degree murder of Nubia.”

Nubia and Victor had lived with the Barahonas since 2004 and were adopted by the couple in 2009, according to CBS News.

Florida’s Department of Children and Families reportedly faced backlash following Nubia’s death for allegedly failing to protect the children.

Former Miami-Dade Police Department Director James Loftus described the case in March 2011 as “depressing [and] sickening,” according to ABC News.

“I don’t know how people justify this in their minds … this is subhuman,” Loftus also said.

There have been several delays in the case against Jorge, who was previously declared incompetent until the court found him competent to stand trial in July 2025, court records show.

The records also indicate Jorge has an upcoming status hearing scheduled for October 6.

About six years after Nubia’s death, Victor was awarded $3.75 million by the state of Florida in connection with the abuse he and his sister endured, per the Miami Herald. The newspaper reported Victor had been living with family members in Texas.

Tyler Cameron Is Taking Mom’s Advice To ‘DWTS’

Published

Tyler Cameron at the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards

Tyler Cameron is finally taking his late mother’s advice to the ballroom.

Cameron revealed that the competition is much more than learning choreography. He says his mother would have encouraged him to take the opportunity and would have been thrilled watching him perform.

Tyler Cameron lost his mom, Andrea Cameron, in 2020 after she suffered a sudden brain aneurysm at 55. In 2022, he dedicated “The Real Dancing Dirty” to his mother.

Cameron revealed that his “Dancing With the Stars” journey is dedicated to his late mother. He said Andrea would have pushed him to join the show after encouraging him toward reality television. She first suggested “Dancing With the Stars” when he landed “The Bachelorette.”

“I mean, mine’s for my mom,”  he said. He also explained that competing was about honoring Andrea and making her proud. Andrea died in 2020 after suffering a sudden brain aneurysm at age 55. The dancer had appeared on Hannah Brown’s “Bachelorette” season in 2019 and finished as the runner-up.

In an interview with Us Magazine after the September 15 premiere, Cameron said he wished Andrea could watch him. “This would have made my mom probably the happiest I could have ever made [her],” he said.

Cameron competed alongside professional dancer Sharna Burgess during the premiere. Their fiery tango to Lenny Kravitz’s “Are You Gonna Go My Way” earned 17 points out of 30. He called the performance “incredible.” “I can’t wait for next week,” he added.

The Dancer’s Mom Pushed Him To Take Risks

Cameron has previously described his mother as his “biggest supporter” and “best friend.” She encouraged him to take risks instead of avoiding opportunities. “She was the one who told me to go do The Bachelorette,” he said in the earlier interview.

He also remembered how much she enjoyed dancing and always joined him when they went out. That made his decision to participate in “The Real Dirty Dancing” especially personal.

The 33-year-old said his mom was always encouraging him to have fun and go for opportunities. He revealed that when he joined “The Real Dirty Dancing,” he viewed the show as another way to make her proud. The FOX series gave him an opportunity to recreate the magic of the 1987 film through dance.

He joined seven other celebrities for the four-week competition and learned routines inspired by the movie. His participation later became part of the dance experience he brought into his current ballroom journey.

In 2022, PEOPLE reported that Cameron dedicated “The Real Dirty Dancing” to Andrea. “My mom’s always pushing me to take risks and go for it,” he said, adding that he was doing the show to make her proud.

Tyler Cameron Dance History Started In College

The reality star’s dancing history began in college. He earned a dance minor at Wake Forest University after struggling academically during his first semester. His coach encouraged him to take dance classes to improve his GPA.

His classes included ballet and jazz, although the dancer insisted he was not naturally talented. He remembered giving maximum effort while producing what he jokingly described as terrible pirouettes. The experience nevertheless helped improve his grades and introduced him to dance.

Years later, Cameron returned to dancing through “The Real Dirty Dancing.” That show lasted only about two weeks and gave him another chance to perform. However, he does not believe that experience fully prepared him for “Dancing With the Stars.”

The Blast shared that the “Bachelor Nation” star considers the current competition a completely different challenge. On the “Get Real” podcast, he said “The Real Dirty Dancing” was only “one-fifth” of what he is doing now. He summed up the difference clearly. “That was, like, a two-week show, but this is the real deal,” he said.

Cameron And Other Dancers Are Facing The Ringer Drama

The dancer’s previous dance experience has also put him in the middle of the ongoing “DWTS” ringer debate. He has trained in multiple dance styles and previously performed on another dance-focused reality show.

He revealed that he doesn’t believe that the ballroom presents an entirely different challenge. Cameron is competing alongside professional dancer Sharna Burgess. The partnership also marks Burgess’ first competitive ballroom appearance since 2021.

Professional dancer Jenna Johnson has also argued that previous dance experience does not automatically prepare contestants for “DWTS.” She pointed to the pressure of performing live before millions of viewers. Contestants must also learn ballroom techniques within only a few days.

She also noted that athletic ability, musicality, acting, and fan support can create different advantages. Her point was that every celebrity still faces the unfamiliar pressure of the actual competition. Julia Stiles is reportedly also competing after playing a ballet dancer in “Save the Last Dance.”

Tyler Cameron’s Family Is His Motivation

In 2020, during an Instagram live for a segment of #CoachVenus x EleVen, the former “Bachelorette” shared how life had been since his mother’s death. “I just lost my mom not too long ago, so now my motivation is to take care of my brothers,” he said.

“My little brothers and my dad,” Cameron told Venus Williams when asked about his biggest motivation. The professional dancer also said he was grateful to be in a position to help his family. The reality star shared a video showing the family’s final goodbye as Andrea was taken into surgery for organ donation.

“We did the walk of honor with her as she proceeded to the OR to have surgery to donate her organs,” he shared. He described his mother as the family’s “rock” and “nucleus.”

PEOPLE reported in April 2020 that Cameron said his mother gave an “ultimate gift” by donating her liver. The family later started a charity in her honor, with more than 190 people contributing over $15,000 toward its $20,000 fundraising goal.

Mike Flanagan Officially Confirms 3 Secret Horror Cameos in ‘Carrie’

Published

on

carrie-poster.jpg

Mike Flanagan has assembled such a familiar group of recurring collaborators that fans have given them their own affectionate nickname: the Flanagan family, or “the Flana-fam.” Some are playing prominent roles in his new adaptation of Stephen King‘s Carrie, including Samantha Sloyan as Margaret White. Several others are hidden throughout the series in much smaller roles. The Prime Video series stars Summer H. Howell as Carrie White, a sheltered teenager forced into public school after the death of her father. Her struggle to adjust becomes even more dangerous when a bullying incident spreads across social media and her telekinetic abilities begin to emerge. The expanded eight-episode format also gives Flanagan room to fill this version of King’s story with details that reward attentive viewers.

One of those details caught Collider’s Perri Nemiroff’s attention during an early viewing. While interviewing Flanagan about the new series at the Toronto International Film Festival, she asked whether the voice heard over a radio in Episode 1 belonged to him. Flanagan confirmed her suspicion before exclusively revealing several more voices that fans should listen for.

“Yeah, that was me,” Flanagan told Collider after Nemiroff identified his Episode 1 cameo. He added that the series contains “a couple of really fun voice cameos” and offered some names for audiences to find, including Carla Gugino, Hamish Linklater, and Sauriyan Sapkota. Each actor already has a history with Flanagan’s horror work. Gugino starred in The Haunting of Hill House before returning for The Haunting of Bly Manor and The Fall of the House of Usher. She also appeared in another of Flanagan’s previous King adaptations, Gerald’s Game.

Camp Crystal Lake · Friday the 13th

Jason Voorhees

Jason is relentless, but he is also predictable — and that is the gap you would exploit.

  • He moves in straight lines toward his target. He doesn’t strategise, doesn’t adapt, doesn’t outsmart. He simply pursues.
  • Your ability to keep moving, use the environment, and resist the panic that freezes most victims gives you a genuine edge.
  • The Crystal Lake survivors were always the ones who stopped running in circles and started thinking about terrain, water, and distance.
  • You think like that. Which means Jason, for all his indestructibility, would face someone who simply refused to be where he expected.

Haddonfield, Illinois · Halloween

Michael Myers

Michael watches before he moves. He is patient, methodical, and almost impossible to detect — until it’s too late for anyone who isn’t paying close enough attention.

  • But you are paying attention. You notice the shape in the window, the car parked slightly wrong, the silence where there should be sound.
  • Michael’s power lies in the invisibility of ordinary suburbia — the fact that nothing ever looks wrong until it already is.
  • Your spatial awareness and instinct to map every room, every exit, and every shadow before you need them is precisely the quality Laurie Strode had.
  • You are not a victim waiting to happen. You are someone who already suspects something is wrong — and acts on it.

Elm Street · A Nightmare on Elm Street

Freddy Krueger

Freddy wins by getting inside your head — using your own fears, your own memories, your own subconscious as weapons against you. That strategy requires a target who can be destabilised.

  • You are harder to destabilise than most. You’ve faced uncomfortable truths about yourself and you haven’t looked away.
  • The survivors on Elm Street were always the ones who understood what was happening and chose to face it rather than flee from it.
  • Freddy’s greatest weakness is that his power evaporates in the presence of someone who refuses to give him the fear he feeds on.
  • Your psychological resilience — the ability to stay grounded when reality itself becomes unreliable — is exactly the quality that keeps you alive here.

Derry, Maine · It

Pennywise

Pennywise is ancient, shapeshifting, and feeds on terror — but it has one critical vulnerability: it cannot function against someone who genuinely stops being afraid of it.

  • The Losers Club didn’t survive because they were braver than everyone else. They survived because they faced their fears together, and faced them honestly.
  • You ask the questions others avoid. You look directly at what frightens you rather than turning away.
  • That directness — the refusal to let fear fester in the dark — is Pennywise’s worst nightmare.
  • It chose the wrong target when it chose you. You are exactly the kind of person whose fear tastes like nothing at all.

Chicago · Child’s Play

Chucky

Chucky’s greatest advantage is that nobody takes him seriously until it’s already too late. He exploits the gap between how something looks and what it actually is.

  • You don’t have that gap. You take threats seriously regardless of how they present — and you never make the mistake of underestimating something because of its size or appearance.
  • Chucky relies on surprise, on the delay between recognition and response. You close that delay faster than almost anyone.
  • Your instinct to treat every unfamiliar thing with appropriate scepticism — rather than dismissing it because it seems absurd — is the exact quality that keeps you breathing.
  • Against Chucky, not laughing is already winning. You are very good at not laughing.

Which Other “Flana-Fam” Alumni Have Voice Cameos in ‘Carrie’?

Linklater delivered one of the most acclaimed performances in Flanagan’s career as Father Paul in Midnight Mass. Sapkota, meanwhile, first worked with the filmmaker as Amesh in The Midnight Club before playing Prospero “Perry” Usher in The Fall of the House of Usher. Their cameos make the new series another reunion for performers who have become closely associated with Flanagan’s television projects.

Flanagan did not reveal which characters they voice or where their appearances can be heard. His own role establishes that at least one cameo is delivered through a radio, but the others could take the form of broadcasts, offscreen dialogue, or similarly brief pieces of audio. Viewers will have to identify those voices themselves once the episodes are available.

All eight episodes of Carrie premiere on Prime Video on October 7. Stay tuned at Collider for the rest of Nemiroff’s conversation with Flanagan and series star Summer H. Howell.

Daphne Joy Gives Brittany Renner Advice In Clapback Video

Daphne’s video, posted on Instagram on Sept. 16, showed her looking at a stitched video of Brittany Renner. In it, the influencer is criticizing people for “eating up that Daphne Joy sh*t.” Renner said she could never be Joy. After the stitched video ended, Daphne Joy responded by chuckling and explaining why they’re different, “and that’s okay.”

“Hi Brittany, that could never be you and I love that for you. I on the other hand have never been shy to admit that I absolutely love when a man takes care of me and frankly I love taking care of my man. We’re both different and that’s okay, but Brittany if you find yourself mentioning me again, please don’t look like you’ve been fighting dogs all night. Ok, beautiful? Chow Chow.”

Also, Joy tagged Brittney Renner in the caption, writing, “with love.”

Meanwhile, Daphne Joy is back online promoting her explicit content and dropping plunge dress looks and poolside teasers for those tuned in.

What Has Brittany Renner Been Up To?

It’s unclear when Brittany Renner made the comments Daphne Joy highlighted in her clapback video. What we do know is that Renner is a few months removed from a breakup with Rashad Scroggins. He told the internet in March that he “dodged a missile” while confirming their split. Scroggins appeared to suggest that Renner was the type of person who wants to be stuck in a loop, rather than grow. He also spoke of people needing something productive to do with their time.

“Mannnn, everybody told me,” before laughing. “My God look out for me man…I dodged a motherfing missile, do you hear me? I dodged all the ruckus…Thank you, thank you,” he said at the time.

Fast-forward to July. Brittany went viral after blasting her other ex-boyfriend and co-parent, PJ Washington, and her ex-husband, Kevin Gates. She went in while telling PJ to stop playing with their son. Also, Renner called him a deadbeat for having his firstborn live a different lifestyle than the children he shares with his wife, Alisah Chanel. As for Kevin, Renner warned him to stop talking about her and called herself his biggest inspiration.

Most recently, Brittany Renner’s name came up in conversation after Alisah Chanel flexed her new luxury vehicle.
