15. Smocked and Ready: A tee and sneakers in spring, a tank and flip-flops in summer. This smocked maxi skirt stretches across seasons as easily as it stretches at the waist.
16. Nice Stretch: Shapewear under a skirt is a sticky mess. Thankfully, this elastane-blend skirt is masterfully smoothing, no extra layer required.
17. Maxi Maven: Pencil skirts feel too restrictive, and mini skirts are tough to move in. This polka dot maxi offers length and ease with a romantic tiered shape.

The R-Rated, Dystopian Sci-Fi Thriller On Netflix That Needs A Sequel
By Steven Nelson
| Published

In a world bursting with dystopian tales, 2017’s What Happened to Monday manages to offer a fresh, thrilling spin, catching viewers in a web of suspense, emotion, and intricate plotting. It went under-watched and underappreciated at the time of its release, but we can correct that now.
It’s streaming on Netflix, and this gripping sci-fi film poses the question: In a future where overpopulation leads to a strict one-child policy, what happens when you have seven identical sisters living in secret?
If you’re in the mood for a pulse-pounding ride that merges mystery with futuristic paranoia, then What Happened to Monday is one to add to your watchlist. And if you are a parent handling multiple kids at home, don’t worry, this will make your own living situation seem peaceful by comparison.
Seven Days Of Settman Sisters

In the not-so-far-off future depicted in What Happened to Monday, overpopulation isn’t just a looming issue, but rather a critical crisis. The world’s governments, in a desperate attempt to control the situation, implement a strict one-child policy. The Child Allocation Bureau ensures this policy is followed ruthlessly, taking away any additional children from families and putting them in cryosleep, with the promise that they’ll be awakened in a better, less crowded future. It’s into this world that the Settman sisters, seven identical siblings, are born.
Now, how do you hide seven sisters in a one-child society? Ingeniously named after each day of the week, the sisters rotate, stepping outside on the day they’re named after, and all impersonating the same identity: Karen Settman. Indoors, they’re Sunday through Saturday (hence, What Happened to Monday), each with her own personality and quirks. Outdoors, they maintain a collective facade, sharing experiences and memories with one another to keep their secret intact.

But the system, as meticulous as it is, starts to crumble when Monday doesn’t return home after her designated day out. Panic ensues among the remaining sisters. Has she been discovered? Did she run away? Or is there a more sinister reason behind her disappearance? The ensuing search pulls the sisters into a whirlwind of danger, conspiracy, and revelations as they race against time, not just to find Monday, but to ensure their own survival.
Noomi Rapace Kills In What Happened To Monday
The film’s stellar cast elevates this intriguing premise. Noomi Rapace takes on a challenging feat, portraying all seven distinct sisters, each with her own nuances and depth. Glenn Close, as the unwavering head of the Child Allocation Bureau, is the embodiment of the hard decisions and sacrifices made in the name of the greater good. Willem Dafoe also makes his mark as the Settman grandfather, the architect of the sisters’ intricate hide-and-seek life.

What Happened to Monday isn’t just another dystopian tale. It’s a story of sisterhood, survival, and the lengths to which one will go to preserve family.
The film generated a potpourri of reactions from critics upon its release. It was lauded for its intriguing premise and the tour de force performance by Noomi Rapace. Playing seven distinct characters in a single film is no easy feat, and Rapace’s portrayal was often spotlighted as the movie’s shining strength.

However, critics also had their reservations. Some felt that the movie, while ambitious, occasionally stumbled in its narrative execution. There were concerns that the film veered into formulaic territory, occasionally becoming predictable or borrowing tropes from other dystopian tales. Some critiques pointed towards the character depth, feeling that despite Rapace’s commendable effort, not all sisters received equal and adequate characterization.
On the flip side, the film’s pacing, action sequences, and visual aesthetics were often praised. The tension-laden plot kept many viewers at the edge of their seats, even if it sometimes sacrificed deeper thematic exploration for thrills.
Fertile Ground For A Sequel

If What Happened to Monday were to be granted a sequel, it could take multiple intriguing directions. Here’s one way to envision it:
Building on the first movie’s exploration of a world strangled by overpopulation, the sequel could venture beyond the Settman sisters’ story. The aftermath of the events of the first film has shaken the foundations of the Child Allocation Bureau. People across the world are now aware of the dark secrets of cryosleep and the fate of “extra” children. This revelation could trigger widespread unrest, with communities and families demanding transparency, accountability, and change.

The remaining Settman sisters could be at the heart of this revolution, becoming symbols of resistance against the oppressive one-child policy. They could join or even lead a movement seeking to challenge and overthrow the system. Along the way, they might uncover even deeper secrets about the Bureau and the global elite’s real intentions behind the policy.
What Happened to Monday garnered a mixed-to-positive reception, securing a 62 percent critical score against a slightly more favorable 67 percent Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes. While it might not have been hailed universally as a classic in the sci-fi dystopian genre, it was recognized for its ambition, Rapace’s commendable performance, and its fresh take on a future grappling with overpopulation.

For many viewers, especially those fond of suspenseful, high-stakes cinema, What Happened to Monday became a must-watch, and is available to steam on Netflix.

Colin Farrell’s Hard-Boiled Apple TV Detective Thriller Officially Returns With New Image [Exclusive]
Colin Farrell has become one of the biggest stars in the world in the last few years, featuring in some of the most successful movies and TV shows on streaming and in theaters. Back in 2022, Farrell made his feature debut as The Penguin, and his role was so beloved that HBO greenlit an entire spin-off series around the character, which arrived in 2024. The show earned widespread critical acclaim, including nine Emmys, but its future beyond Season 1 is still unclear at this time. Farrell also recently teamed up with Margot Robbie for the romantic fantasy adventure A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which is now streaming around the world on Netflix. He even earned his first Oscar nomination a few years ago for his performance in The Banshees of Inisherin — it’s safe to say now is the best time to invest in Colin Farrell stock.
While The Penguin was a smash hit by every metric, many fans would argue that it wasn’t Farrell’s best show of 2024. You could make a case that the title belongs to Sugar, the Apple TV hard-boiled detective thriller co-starring Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Amy Ryan. Sugar went off the air on May 17, almost exactly two years ago, but Apple TV has already confirmed that the series will return with its long-awaited sophomore season on June 15. As part of our Exclusive Summer Preview Event here at Collider, we’re thrilled to partner with Apple TV to debut a new image from Sugar Season 2 ahead of its June 15 launch date. Before its return, Sugar is also surging in the top 10 on Apple TV in several countries right now.
What Is ‘Sugar’ About?
Sugar follows the private detective, John Sugar (played by Colin Farrell), who investigates the disappearance of Olivia, who is the granddaughter of Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel (James Cromwell). Sydney Chandler, who broke out last year thanks to her role in the hit sci-fi series Alien: Earth, can be seen in Sugar playing Olivia. Sugar was written and created for TV by Mark Protosevich, with Donald Joh, Sam Catlin, and David Rosen also serving as writers in Season 1. Additional cast members include Dennis Boutsikaris as Bernie Siegel, Nate Corddry as David Siegel, Alex Hernandez as Kenny, and Anna Gunn as Margit Sorensen.
Check out the first season of Sugar on Apple TV and stay tuned to Collider for more from our Exclusive Summer Preview.

I crowned myself a wannabe Posh Spice as a kid, so it’s no surprise that Victoria Beckham’s style has always been an enduring inspiration for me. And while her figure and mine couldn’t be more different, there’s one thing we both seem to look great in: Oner Active’s ultra‑flattering workout leggings.
The 52‑year‑old beauty and fashion mogul recently shared a photo in the brand’s UnifiedMove Wrap Leggings — and they’re proof that figure‑flattering leggings can look incredible on women of every age and size. The celeb-loved brand is known for its flattering and functional pieces that contour, support and move with you at every stage and age — whether you’re lifting weights, walking the neighborhood or keeping it cozy-comfy for the day.
Get the UnifiedMove Wrap Leggings for $62 at Oner Active! Please note, prices are accurate as of the publishing date but are subject to change.
Unlike other stretchy leggings that can emphasize areas that many of Us would rather keep subtle or hidden (looking at you, muffin top), these pants offer an easy, comfortable fit that looks good without insane effort. They’re comfortable, confidence-boosting leggings that work on real bodies, real-life demands and real women of every age.
Thoughtful design details like a wrap‑front waistband not only look sleek, but they’re also incredibly supportive and flattering. A hidden mesh layer in the waistband helps keep the lower belly in check, while still feeling good when you’re on the move. The fabric is incredibly breathable and silky, and stays cool even during the sweatiest outside workouts or hectic mom-duty days.
When it comes to the backside, the sculpting workout leggings have glute‑defining lines that create a defined, lifted look without veering into obnoxious territory — i.e., nothing overly youthful, flashy or revealing. Instead, the effect is subtle and functional — the kind of body-boosting detail that feels appropriate whether you’re in your 20s, 40s, 50s or beyond.
These Oner Active leggings come in regular and long lengths, plus sizes XS through XXL. And while Victoria’s go‑to cocoa shade is running low, there are twelve total colors to choose from, including classics like black and blue, as well as bolder hues, like green and purple.
While Oner Active doesn’t post reviews for these leggings, if social channels like Instagram are any indication, women of all ages and sizes are obsessed. From gym‑goers in their twenties to busy moms in midlife, everyone says they’re flattering, comfortable and ready for anything on the agenda.
A little Posh, a little sporty and perfect for every age — consider this your sign to embrace the Spice Girl in you, like Victoria Beckham, and snag a pair of these Oner Active wrap workout leggings while they’re still in stock.

Hayden Panettiere Recalls Being ‘Told to Perform’ Sex Acts
Hayden Panettiere is pulling the curtain back on her past.
While promoting her new memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, she reflected on a deeply unsettling time in her life when she says she was “told to perform” sexual acts with an older man she met via a trusted friend.
“The fact that I was 18, even though I’d lived such a huge life and I thought I was oh so mature at 18 … scientifically, your frontal lobes don’t develop until we’re what, 25, 26?” Panettiere, 36, said during the Monday, May 11, episode of the “On Purpose with Jay Shetty” podcast after writing about the experience in her book. “So even though I felt like I could make healthy decisions, safe decisions, I wasn’t capable of being fully aware of what was going on around me.”
Panettiere spoke about the “shocking” incident that took place in a “very small room” on a boat with author and life coach Jay Shetty, noting it was even more troubling due to being quite “literally out to sea.” The actress was 18 at the time and starred on the hit show Heroes as Claire Bennet, an indestructible cheerleader with super healing powers.
The former child star — who now shares a daughter Kaya, 11, with ex-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko — said she never anticipated being shoved into the room by a person she deemed “as a protector and somebody who had my back.”
“She physically put me in the bed next to this undressed man who was very famous,” Panettiere said, revealing he acted “like this was just an average day for him.” Panettiere said she was instantly on alert and hyperaware of her surroundings, adding, “That lion in me, that fire in me … my hair stood on end and I became ferocious. I was like, ‘This is not happening.’”
She had nowhere to hide at the time, but “bolted” to another room.

“There was no jumping off and swimming away,” Panettiere added. “And there was nobody who was going to be empathetic to my situation. I realized that this was nothing new to them.”
Panettiere said it was a “disappointing” memory to look back on, “when somebody lets you down like that.” She pointed out that she had been disappointed by others before.
In hindsight, Panettiere said it made her appreciate those in her life who she can always count on in hard times — including her father, Skip Panettiere, who was consistently her “safe space” and who kept her “grounded.”
“When you really find somebody that you trust, you hold on to them for dear life and you feel so lucky,” the Nashville star shared. “So to be betrayed like that is just an awful feeling.”
Panettiere recently spoke about her childhood fame, surviving addiction, abuse and more in Us Weekly’s cover story, telling Us there is so much more to the actress than meets the eye.
“I think people will be surprised by what they learn,” she said.
After overcoming some of her life’s greatest challenges, Panettiere admitted to Shetty, 38, that she is taking a closer look at how she vets the individuals who enter her orbit. “I’ve not seen clearly immediately … They really were able to pull the wool over my eyes,” she said.
“I have, throughout the years, been fortunate enough to meet incredible people,” she also highlighted. “Incredibly loyal, and genuinely genuinely good.”

2. Frayed and Fabulous: The light blue wash and frayed raw hem give these wide-leg cuffed jeans a lived-in, just-vintage-enough feel. The high waist keeps the silhouette flattering under cropped tops.
3. Tummy-Control: Waistbands that dig or roll can sour any outfit, but the tummy-control panel on this high-rise pick holds everything in place. You get the wide-leg look without constantly tugging at the waist.
4. Deal Alert: Trying a trend feels less risky at $19. The dark wash and front pintuck on this high-rise, wide-leg option make it dressy enough for the office and easy to pair with whatever’s already in your closet.
5. Spring-to-Summer: Transitional weather is tricky for denim, but the cropped length on this light-wash boyfriend pair lets your ankles breathe once temperatures climb. You’ll wear them from now through October.
6. Night Out-Ready: Pair these trendy black jeans with a strappy heel and a silk blouse for cocktails, or a band tee and boots for a concert. The washed black wash translates either direction.

9. Levi’s Classic: Levi’s brings its denim expertise to this cropped boyfriend pair, with a mid-rise waist and a fitted-but-relaxed cut. The cuff finishes it off without looking forced.
10. Splurge-Worthy: More than 2,300 shoppers gave KUT from the Kloth’s boyfriend jeans five stars. The 99% cotton fabric and relaxed, cropped fit justify the $89 price.
11. All-Day Comfort: Rigid denim by hour eight gets miserable, but the stretchy fabric on this cropped cuffed pair stays comfortable through travel days and back-to-back meetings.
12. Major Sale: Premium denim usually means premium prices, but Joe’s Jeans’ cuffed pair at 68% off brings the quality within reach. The vintage wash works with almost everything.
13. Pinstripe Perfection: A subtle pinstripe takes these baggy boyfriend jeans somewhere unexpected, blurring the line between denim and dress trousers. The high waist and wide leg keep the silhouette flattering.

American Idol Season 24 Winner Hannah Harper Reacts to Victory
American Idol season 24 winner Hannah Harper is expressing her gratitude after singing her way to victory.
“What a wild, beautiful journey this has been. And somehow we’re just getting started,” Harper, 25, wrote via Instagram on Monday, May 11, alongside a photo of her posing with the envelope announcing the season 24 winner on the Idol set.
Harper continued, “Thank you to every single person who believed in me, prayed over me, voted, and helped carry this dream farther than I ever could’ve imagined. Y’all changed my life.”
“I’m beyond thankful for the doors the Lord has opened and for the opportunity to walk this path,” the singer added. “I’ll see y’all on the road soon… tour dates coming your way. 🤍”
Harper concluded her post with a Bible quote, which reads, “‘For I know the plans I have for you’ — this is the Lord’s declaration — ‘plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’”
Host Ryan Seacrest announced Harper as the winner of the latest season of American Idol during Monday’s live finale on ABC. Jordan McCullough was named runner-up, while Keyla Richardson came in third place.
During Monday’s finale, Harper performed Alicia Keys’ “No One” in tribute to the Grammy winner, who served as a mentor for the finalists heading into the live show.
“Your voice sounds beautiful and tender and like a lullaby,” judge Luke Bryan said about her performance. “Your voice is like walking in the outdoors. It’s like walking through a beautiful garden. You’re a true artist.”
For her second performance of the night, Harper sang an original song, “Married Into This Town,” as a tribute to her hometown. The singer is a stay-at-home mom of three from Willow Springs, Missouri.
“Congratulations on songwriting, congratulations about being that authentic person,” judge Lionel Richie gushed about her original song.
Harper first wowed the judges — Bryan, Richie and Carrie Underwood — in her initial audition when she performed an original song called “String Cheese,” which she said was about her experiences with postpartum depression.
“I was sitting on my couch wallowing, and you have boys, you know. Everybody wants to touch you, and I didn’t want to be touched,” she explained the song’s inspiration, per People. “And my youngest son, I was just having a pity party, praying that the Lord would calm my spirit, and my son kept coming up to me. He said, ‘Mom, open this. Open my cheese.’ I’m like, ‘Leave me alone with the doggone cheese.’”

Hannah Harper, Keyla Richardson and Jordan McCullough Eric McCandless/Disney
Harper continued, “And I finally opened his cheese, and when I did, I realized God had put me in that place, and that where I was in my house was the biggest ministry that I could ever have in being a mom. So, I gathered myself, and I got up off the couch, and I quit throwing a pity party, and I realized that was exactly what I wanted.”
“And I kind of kicked the postpartum depression in the butt, and I said, ‘I ain’t doing it,’” Harper shared.

Taylor Swift Spotted With Her Parents, Brother Austin in NYC
Taylor Swift brought her whole family together for a New York City dinner date.
The “Fate of Ophelia” singer, 36, was photographed with her parents, Scott, 74, and Andrea, 68, as well as her brother, Austin, 34, in the Big Apple on Monday, May 11, per photos published by TMZ.
According to the outlet, Taylor and her family were seen entering upscale steakhouse The Eighty Six in the West Village on Monday night, perhaps for a little post-Mother’s Day get-together.
Andrea was all smiles as she held hands with her famous daughter, who wore a chic black dress with spaghetti straps and sparkly silver sequins adorning the neckline. Taylor had her hair tied back and accentuated her look with her signature red lipstick.
The sighting comes just two weeks after the star was spotted heading out to dinner in New York City with her father and friend Ashley Avignone.
The Swift family rallied around Scott last summer after he underwent quintuple bypass surgery for a heart issue.
“He’s doing so great,” Taylor said during an October 2025 appearance on SiriusXM’s “Morning Mash Up.”
She continued, “By his own accord, he’s actually at 150 percent now. So he’s definitely got too much energy. He’s doing amazing. I’m so happy. To contextualize this, my dad had a quintuple bypass surgery over the summer.”
“The biggest part of our summer was, as a family, just taking care of him and getting him back to his old self,” Taylor said. “He had amazing medical care and help. The doctors and nurses that I’m going to be forever grateful for. It recontextualizes to you what matters, honestly. It really does. Thank you for mentioning that because it reminds me how lucky I am that he pulled through.”
Following her father’s health scare, Taylor donated $1 million to the American Heart Association over the 2025 holiday season.
“Taylor Swift’s remarkable generosity will create lasting change far beyond its financial value,” said Nancy Brown, chief executive officer of the American Heart Association, said in a December 2025 statement. “Her family’s experience with cardiovascular disease is all too common, affecting nearly half of American adults. Her commitment to supporting her father will make so many others aware of the need to take their own heart health seriously, strengthen prevention efforts, and improve controllable risk factors—ultimately helping more people live longer, healthier lives.”
“Taylor has long been associated with the symbol of heart hands. At the American Heart Association, we proudly use that same gesture to honor all who have been affected — our mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, spouses and so many others,” added Brown. “My hope is that together we can raise our collective heart hands and drive meaningful change against this disease, shaping a healthier future for generations to come.”

Henry Cavill’s Highly-Anticipated ‘Voltron’ Movie Gets Devastating Release Update
2026 is shaping up to be a big year for Henry Cavill, who officially returns to the big screen this week with his latest action movie, In The Grey. The film co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Eiza González, and Rosamund Pike, and is directed by tenured action director Guy Ritchie. Ritchie and Cavill first worked together 11 years ago on The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and they reunited a few years ago for the WWII action thriller, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Cavill is also working hard right now filming his long-awaited Highlander remake, which entered production earlier this year at the helm of director Chad Stahelski (director of all four John Wick movies). Cavill has also been recruited to star in another remake that just got the update fans have been fearing for a while now.
Cavill has been tapped to lead a live-action Voltron movie that’s been in the works at Amazon for a while now, along with Paradise and This Is Us star Sterling K. Brown. Voltron wrapped filming last summer, but it didn’t take long after the exciting announcement for apprehension to set in when rumors surfaced that the film was going to forego a theatrical release and premiere straight-to-streaming on Prime Video. These rumors were confirmed yesterday evening, when Prime Video officially announced that Voltron will be a straight-to-streaming release, and it will not play in any theaters. This is especially disappointing to fans who were hoping to see another big-budget space sci-fi epic in theaters, similar in visual scope to Project Hail Mary. The live-action Voltron movie was written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber.
What Else is Streaming on Prime Video Right Now?
Paving the way for Voltron to fly to the top of Prime Video streaming charts right now is Crime 101, the modern spin on Heat starring Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo. The film had something of an underwhelming run in theaters, but it has since found redemption on the second-biggest streaming service in the world. Globally, Prime Video has also found streaming hits in Ballerina and Greenland 2: Migration. The former is a John Wick spin-off film starring Ana de Armas, and the latter is a sci-fi bomb headlined by modern action star Gerard Butler.
Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the live-action Voltron movie, which is coming to Prime Video later this year.
