Stephen Colbert on the red carpet

Stephen Colbert’s late-night show may have been axed, but it’s still making major headlines.

The TV host’s former late-night series enjoyed a major triumph at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, arriving months after the program ended its decade-long run on television.

Colbert said goodbye after the final episode aired on May 21. This came after the network decided to pull the plug on the show, citing financial reasons.

Four months after airing its final episode, “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” made headlines at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The host, who spent 11 years helming the program, left with a bang, as his final season received nine Emmy nominations.

The series secured several major awards, including Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series against strong contenders like “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver.”

The program also swept multiple technical categories, earning trophies for Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming, Outstanding Lighting Design, and Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork.

The Daily Mail confirmed that directing honors went to the series as well, while the companion digital program “Colbert Before Air” claimed the award for Outstanding Short Form Comedy, Drama or Variety Series.

The impressive collection of victories marked a powerful send-off for the franchise, which signed off from CBS back in May following the network’s choice to discontinue the late-night brand.

Stephen Colbert’s Final On-Air Gag Triggered An Unexpected Financial Agreement For CBS

Following the show’s final broadcast and its subsequent award victories, one of the host’s parting antics ended up creating real financial ripple effects for the network.

During the May 21 series finale, Colbert staged a humorous bit centered on copyright enforcement. As the presenter discussed legal disputes surrounding famous holiday tunes, his musical director Louis Cato and the resident ensemble began performing the iconic “Peanuts” theme.

Playing along with the spontaneous moment, Colbert teased his employers on air, expressing mock concern over whether the unapproved musical performance would result in unexpected costs for the company.

This unexpectedly turned into an official business matter after the episode aired. The entity managing the composer’s catalog confirmed that a formal agreement was required to cover the broadcast rights.

CBS ultimately entered into a resolution to clear the usage, turning the broadcast joke into a binding settlement, per The Blast.

Roughly a month before the network had to deal with the ripple effects of Colbert’s gag, former franchise host Letterman voiced strong disapproval over the decision to discontinue the late-night program.

The television veteran, who originally established the late-night program in 1993 before handing over host duties in 2015, made a return to the historic theater to support his successor.

Speaking out about the network’s choice to terminate the franchise, Letterman publicly criticized corporate executives, labeling the sudden strategy a massive blunder that hurts broadcast culture.

“Kind of makes me sad,” he said, as reported by The Blast.

Summing up his reaction to the host’s abrupt departure, Letterman reaffirmed his firm stance on the network’s choice, saying, “I think it’s too bad that Stephen is gone. I think it’s a huge mistake.”

While prominent figures like Letterman lamented the program’s conclusion, Colbert’s political adversary Donald Trump publicly celebrated the official sign-off on social media.

He expressed enthusiasm online following the final television broadcast of the long-running series, taking to his personal platform to share scathing commentary about the host. The public exchange capped over a decade of mutual criticism between the politician and the comedian, who frequently targeted each other in public statements and monologues.

Following the May 21 sign-off, the leader posted an early-morning message mocking the broadcaster’s departure.

“Colbert is finally finished at CBS. Amazing that he lasted so long,” he wrote, as reported by The Blast

Following Colbert’s exit, tensions further heightened within the network as his daughter, Madeleine Carlisle, reportedly resigned from her role at CBS News.

According to The Blast, the former host’s daughter stepped away from her position as an associate producer for the long-running news program “60 Minutes” following four years behind the scenes.

Her reported departure came during a period of heavy turnover for the news division following a major newsroom restructuring earlier this year.

The network experienced significant staff departures in May during a day referred to internally as “Black Thursday.” The somber day reportedly saw several prominent correspondents and executive editors leave their positions during an unexpected shake-up.

Nick Offerman Reacts To Ben Shapiro’s 3-Year-Old Rant

Published

on

Nick Offerman at 97th Oscars

Nick Offerman earned widespread praise for his portrayal of Bill in HBO’s “The Last of Us,” delivering an emotional performance that explored love and loss in a post-apocalyptic world. The role earned him an Emmy, but the character also drew criticism from some viewers, including conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro.

Three years after Shapiro’s rant about the role, Offerman finally saw the clip and shared his reaction.

Nick Offerman is widely known for playing Ron Swanson in “Parks and Recreation,” the hyper-masculine libertarian who headed the city parks department.

In 2023, the actor played Bill in HBO’s adaptation of the video game “The Last of Us.” Season 1, Episode 3, titled “Long, Long Time,” takes a break from the main storyline to focus on Bill and Frank (Murray Bartlett) and their 20-year love story while surviving an apocalypse.

In February 2023, political commentator Ben Shapiro reacted to the episode, calling Offerman’s Bill a version of “Ron Swanson who likes to nail dudes.” He continued to say that the entire episode focused on “two gay dudes who meet and have a relationship,” with both ending up dying at the end, saying it was like “Romeo and Romeo.”

In the podcast “Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso,” Offerman saw the clip for the first time. “Holy sh-t… that’s crazy,” the actor said, adding that there’s a very good reason why that’s the “most Ben Shapiro” he’s ever seen.

The Actor Calls Out Ben Shapiro’s ‘Rampant Homophobia’

Offerman continued, “I don’t know what to say. I’m embarrassed for his reading comprehension. I think he got eight things wrong in his recap, besides his rampant homophobia.”

The actor said the clip was “insane,” “dumb,” and “so wrong.” He knew that Shapiro had been vocal about the episode and read about it online, but it was the first time he’d seen the actual clip.

Offerman said that what’s upsetting about the clip was its power to reach many people. “They’d be like, ‘Oh no, not Ron Swanson,’ or whatever agreement they would have.”

Nick Offerman Earned His First Emmy For ‘The Last of Us’ Role

Offerman’s “The Last of Us” episode received overwhelming praise from critics and viewers, but it also drew backlash for dedicating an entire episode to a standalone romance between two men.

In 2024, Offerman took home his first Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. He also won Best Supporting Performance in a New Scripted Series at the 2024 Film Independent Spirit Awards. During his acceptance speech, he thanked HBO “for having the guts to participate in this storytelling tradition that is truly independent.”

The actor also addressed the hate and homophobic remarks about the episode and said, “Stories with guts that when homophobic hate comes my way and says, ‘Why did you have to make it a gay story?’ We say, ‘Because you ask questions like that. It’s not a gay story it’s a love story, you a–hole.”

The Actor Talks About Masculinity And Ron Swanson

Offerman said people have talked about his masculinity because of his portrayal of Ron Swanson in “Parks and Recreation.” However, he noted that many viewers had the wrong idea about Swanson.

“Ron is a smart and avid hunter, so they assumed he must be a misogynist. They made a lot of incorrect assumptions, hoping to find an avatar for their ideologies,” the actor told Variety. He said that if viewers looked closely, Swanson was actually a feminist and a “true libertarian,” mentioning that he served as the best man at his gay hairdresser’s wedding.

Nick Offerman Is More Selective With His Roles

Offerman played Swanson for seven seasons of “Parks and Recreation” spanning six years. When the series wrapped in 2015, the actor became more selective with his roles because he didn’t want to be typecast.

Offerman has portrayed a single father and widow in “Hearts Beat Loud,” an eccentric professor in “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl,” and the president of the United States in “Civil War.”

He currently stars as Jinx Millet, a former pro wrestler and recovering addict, in the series “Margo’s Got Money Troubles.”

JFK Jr and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy s Relationship Timeline

Martha Stewart shared some insight into her history with John F. Kennedy Jr. during the season 16 premiere of The Real Housewives of New York City.

“I was with John-John — this is JFK Jr. — I was with him the Monday before the Friday when they died. Did you know that?” Martha, 85, told makeup artist and RHONY newbie Daisy Toye during the Tuesday, September 8, episode after revealing she was watching the FX series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.

Martha continued, “I was running Martha Stewart Living magazine, and he called me and he said he’s in trouble and could he please talk to me about what to do with George, the magazine that he had started. And I said, ‘Of course, anything you want.’”

According to Martha, the pair “had a very nice dinner” before John F. Kennedy‘s son mentioned that he was going to a wedding in Martha’s Vineyard that weekend with his wife, Carolyn, and sister-in-law Lauren.

STARTRAKSPHOTO.COM John F. Kennedy Jr. and wife Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy had a high-profile romance right up until their tragic deaths. When the couple began dating in 1994, the world was fascinated by their relationship. Considered to be one of the most eligible bachelors at the time, Kennedy Jr. decided to settle down with Bessette-Kennedy. As he […]

“I said, ‘Well, who’s flying?’” Martha claimed. “And he said, ‘I’m flying.’ I said, ‘You have a copilot, right?’ And he said, ‘No, I don’t need a copilot.’”

Daisy — who has worked with Martha for more than a decade — was shocked by the revelation.

“I’ve thought about that so many times, that I told him to get a copilot,” Martha said.

JFK Jr. and Carolyn were killed in a plane crash off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard in July 1999, along with her sister Lauren. The late couple’s romance — and the aftermath of their tragic deaths — was explored in Ryan Murphy‘s Love Story, which debuted in February.

While viewers fell head over heels for the dramatized version of JFK Jr. and Carolyn’s relationship, those who knew the couple had their fair share of criticism for the series.

Promo Why Is Carole Radziwill Not in Love Story

FX’s scripted series about John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette features many star-studded mentions and familiar faces, so why is Real Housewives of New York City‘s Carole Radziwill notably absent from Love Story? For context, Carole, 62, was previously married to Anthony Radziwill, who was the late JFK Jr.’s cousin and Jacqueline Kennedy‘s nephew. […]

Former RHONY star Carole Radziwill — who was married to JFK Jr.’s late cousin Anthony Radziwill — makes her highly anticipated return to the Bravo universe this season, but she wasn’t involved in any part of Love Story.

“I signed on [for RHONY], and it just so happened that Love Story premiered in the same weeks that I started filming,” Carole, 63, told USA Today in an interview published on Tuesday. “It was a very emotional time for me. That show, really, it was like a body slam. I didn’t watch it, but you couldn’t get away from it. Martha Stewart watched it. The other women on the cast watched it and were curious about this and that. It was very hard.”

Carole noted that she wrote all that she “had to say about that time in my life” in her book What Remains: A Memoir of Fate, Friendship, and Love, which her new costar Daisy revealed in the RHONY premiere that she was reading.

“The emotions all came back [when Love Story aired],” Carole continued, teasing what’s to come for Bravo fans. “It’s a little grief that I felt, almost the whole time I was filming … You’ll see the arc of that story throughout, I think, the whole season [of RHONY]. Certainly in the beginning, and then it comes up really big at the end, and that was completely unplanned.”

Influencer Katie Anderson Reveals the Results of Her 2nd Facelift at 48

U.K. reality star Katie Price is debuting her eyebrow-raising new look after undergoing a series of elective cosmetic surgeries.

Price, 48, stole the show while walking the National Television Awards red carpet in London on Tuesday, September 8, revealing her ultra bronzed face, dark eye makeup, dark lip liner and slick pulled back hair. She shared insight into her nearly unrecognizable look, including the procedures she had to enhance her features, via Instagram just hours prior.

“Because one of my boobs was slightly bigger than the other, they put a new implant in and while they were there I asked … ‘Put a bit more in both of them,’” Price, a British reality TV star and former glamor model who appeared in the U.K.’s Celebrity Big Brother and Celebrity MasterChef, told her fans.

“At the same time, where my face is hollow as you get older and lose weight [I] put filler in obviously while I’m asleep, and he does it under the muscle right under the bone,” she continued, pointing to her cheekbones. “I didn’t have anything put in [my cheeks], and I think the swelling has dropped, [but] I look like a hamster. As to why she chose to go with somebody new, Price revealed that creative differences regarding her ensemble led her to look elsewhere.

“Originally I had a glam squad but they passed on doing the NTAs because I wouldn’t wear the outfits they wanted me to. But the outfit I’ve chosen myself is still different, because I don’t like to follow what everyone else follows,” she explained. “In a way, they did me a favor by saying they were going to pass on my glam.”

Ciara’s Pregnancy Reveal Has Fans In Their Feelings

2026 Fanatics Super Bowl Party

Ciara‘s fifth pregnancy reveal left her kids screaming with excitement.

The announcement came months after Russell Wilson‘s public campaign for another child. Wilson had even given their potential fifth baby the nickname “Cinco” during his playful requests.

Singer Ciara and Russell Wilson share four children, Future, Sienna, Win, and Amora. The NFL player and the singer shared their new pregnancy news with the public on September 6.

The 40-year-old brought her children together with Wilson and asked the family to pose for a picture to send to their grandma and grandpa. As everyone gathered, Ciara suddenly announced that they were having another baby. The children immediately screamed with excitement after hearing the unexpected news.

The expecting mother posted the video in collaboration with Wilson. They captioned it, “best moment of all…surprising the kids.” Fans quickly became invested in the children’s reactions and Ciara’s ability to keep everything secret.

“Cracking up at Future saying ‘the speculations were true’” one person wrote in the comments. Another joked, “She’s a real Scorpio, even her kids didn’t know.” Other followers were equally stunned that the children had not noticed her growing bump.

“Wait, if your babies didn’t notice that bump, we didn’t stand a chance!” one fan commented. Another asked, “Wait a damn minute?? Didn’t they see your tummy was getting bigger?”

Some other fans congratulated her, saying, “Ciara, you deserve every single moment of happiness. Congrats, Mama,” alongside “Soooo blessed.” Another fan pointed out that “Amora’s hands BEEN sitting on that belly,” making the children’s apparent surprise even more amusing, as seen on Instagram.

The Couple’s Unborn Child Has Been Named ‘Cinco’

The pregnancy follows months of Wilson publicly asking Ciara to have another baby. “We have four amazing kids, and I’m trying to convince Ciara to have a fifth,” he said. The former NFL player had even named the prospective baby before the pregnancy was announced. “Cinco, you got to be on the way soon,” he added during that earlier plea.

The Blast reported that Ciara and Wilson shared their pregnancy news on September 6. Their announcement included photographs and videos showing Ciara’s baby bump. The couple captioned the post, “One more person to Love.” The reveal also used their children to symbolize the growing family.

The mother of four hung a tiny onesie on a clothesline before forming the number five with her hand. Another image showed five items, including shirts bearing the names Future, Sienna, Win and Amora, while the baby’s name remained unknown. Fans responded with congratulations, admiration and excitement over Baby Cinco’s arrival.

How Ciara Is Acing Motherhood

Before announcing the fifth pregnancy, Ciara had spent much of the past year discussing life with four children. She has acknowledged that raising a family while managing multiple careers can become hectic quickly. Rather than calling their routine perfectly balanced, she described football season as “chaotic.”

Ciara has been juggling motherhood, business responsibilities, and music projects alongside life with an NFL star. The singer also spoke about how much Wilson contributes to their children’s lives. She previously described him as thoughtful, caring, and consistent with the children. Ciara has also received praise for seemingly managing motherhood, her career, and her marriage simultaneously.

One fan described her ability to have children, “bounce back and work” while remaining present in her relationship as something that “needs to be studied.” The same supporter celebrated her as a “superwoman” while welcoming Baby Cinco.

Another fan wrote, “LET’S GO!!! CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WILSONS!!!” The supporter added that they always wait for the family to make its own announcements before celebrating. Other comments called the pregnancy a blessing and wished the family health, joy, and love.

Wilson’s Baby Campaign Once Took Over Ciara’s Album Moment

During a Grammy Museum event for her album “CiCi,” Wilson unexpectedly stood during the audience question-and-answer session. He praised her “Ride” video before turning the moment into another question about Baby Cinco. “Speaking of riding… when’s cinco [baby number five] coming?” Wilson asked.

The timing sparked criticism from fans who believed the question distracted from her album. Ciara herself later called her husband’s repeated campaign “disrespectful.” “Amora came out, and he started talking about Cinco,” she said during an interview. “I’m like, ‘That’s just disrespectful. Did you know what I just went through right now with this?”

Some fans accused Wilson of being “mean” for bringing up another baby during Ciara’s album event. Others questioned whether his repeated requests were merely jokes. One critic argued that he was using babies to keep Ciara from flourishing, while another called the album-promo interruption “mean.”

The pregnancy also arrives during a major musical chapter for Ciara. “CiCi” marked her first full-length album in six years after 2019’s “Beauty Marks.” The Blast shared that she described the project as a love letter to fans and a celebration of two decades spent “unlearning, rebuilding, and reclaiming” success on her own terms.

Ciara’s approach to family is centered on giving her children strong emotional support. She said Wilson’s children are his “pride and joy.” The Grammy winner revealed that even when he cannot physically be present, he finds ways to make sure he does not miss important moments.

Despite being a military baby, she said she didn’t have a luxurious life. “Our kids have way more access and equity than we had growing up, so keeping them humble is also really important too,” she said.

According to Good Morning America, Ciara has said faith plays a major role in her marriage. She also described being “equally yoked” as more than half the battle in life.

Ciara has stressed that neither partner should have to dim their light for the other. She believes they should both be able to shine while encouraging each other’s goals and careers.

The couple has also taught their children the importance of dreaming, commitment, and helping others. Ciara said love is powerful and infectious, which is why she tries to give her children “double the love.” Now, with another baby coming, that love is about to extend to one more member of the Wilson family.

Bachelor in Paradise Season 10 Couples: Are They Still Dating?

Published

on

Who Was Kat Izzo's Boyfriend Before Dale Moss?

Bachelor in Paradise threw a wrench into some couples’ happily ever after with the season 10 elimination twist.

In previous iterations of the Bachelor spinoff, pairs have been able to freely explore their connection until the finale when some contestants (think: Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert) decided to leave the show engaged. This season, however, contestants are voted off by their peers amid the competition for a $500,000 cash prize.

While some couples have continued to explore their connection offscreen, other former contestants found their way to each other without the cameras. Alli Jo Hinkes and Sam McKinney, for example, hard-launched their relationship on social media in July after missing each other in Costa Rica.

“Sometimes… You just gotta do it your damn self,” the couple captioned a joint Instagram post at the time, sharing a series of PDA-filled photos. “Be a force and #StayRelentless.”

Scroll down to see the status of the couples who left Bachelor in Paradise season 10:

Jess Edwards and Spencer Conley

After connecting on day one in Costa Rica, Spencer proposed to Jess during the finale.

“Every room that you walk into is instantly brighter. You don’t know a stranger. You’re welcoming to everyone. And you always lead with honesty and what’s right, even when it’s something that’s not easy to do,” he said. “I am so in love with you and you let me know the same. Jessica Taylor Edwards, would you make me the happiest man on the face of the planet and would you marry me?”

The twosome told Us that they don’t have a set “timeline” for planning a wedding.

In September 2026, Jess and Spencer announced that they split.

“After a lot of honest conversations and reflection, we’ve made the difficult decision to end our engagement and go our separate ways,” the pair wrote in a joint statement shared via their respective Instagram Stories. “There wasn’t one moment that brought us here.”

Kat Izzo and Dale Moss

After navigating some rocky waters, including claims that Kat had a secret boyfriend back at home, Kat and Dale left Costa Rica as a couple. They revealed on the “Viall Files” the day after the finale aired in September that they are going strong.

Andrew and Alexe solidified their relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend during the finale. After the episode aired, they gushed in a joint Instagram post, “Love you level ♾️.”

Jeremy Simon and Bailey Brown

The pair were eliminated ahead of the final test, but they are still dating after meeting on the beach.

“What a ride it’s been. From the first day in paradise until now, we’ve experienced so much more than we ever imagined. Though we didn’t win the money, we are both walking away with something far more valuable: a love that we’ve always dreamed of,” they wrote in a joint Instagram caption after the finale. “Life’s not about perfection, and our journey certainly wasn’t, but it’s all part of what has brought us here. We’ve grown so much over these past few months—both as individuals and as a couple—and we wouldn’t change a thing.”

They added, “Though our time in paradise wasn’t without its challenges, we truly believe everything happens for a reason. Every step, every moment, has led us to this incredible place together. We feel so lucky to have found each other and couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come. Xx Bailey and Jeremy 🫰.”

Jeremy and Bailey shared during the first part of the “Bachelor Happy Hour” season 10 reunion podcast that they have plans to move in together.

Kathy Swarts and Keith Gordon

The Golden alums’ connection turned to friendship while they were still in Costa Rica, leading them to eliminate themselves from the final test of the season.

Leslie later shared during an episode of the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast that she and Gary “talk all the time.” She added, “We were at the premiere together watching the show in L.A. Gary is, I can honestly say right now, one of my best friends. I’ll call him if I have a problem. He kind of talks me off the ledge a little bit, and we are always there for each other. We have each other’s back.”

Leslie noted that she doesn’t know “what it could be,” but wants to be friends with any romantic partner first. “We have special places in our hearts for each other, and that’s all I can say right now,” she said.

‘The Paper’ Season 2 Showrunners Reveal the ‘Office’ Reunion Scene They Cut

Published

on

the-paper-season-02_210145_00368

Editor’s Note: The following contains full spoilers for Season 2 of ‘The Paper’

Summary

  • In an interview with Collider, Greg Daniels and Michael Koman break down The Paper Season 2’s biggest character arcs, including what is next for Ned and Mare after that surprising finale.
  • Daniels reveals a larger Office connection was cut because it risked overshadowing The Paper.
  • The showrunners also explain Nicole’s spiral and how Season 2’s guest stars came together

The Paper may have started as a spin-off of The Office, but by Season 2 of the Peacock sitcom, the staff at Ohio’s local newspaper, the Toledo Truth Teller, has plenty of problems of its own. For starters, Ned (Domhnall Gleeson) spends much of the season searching for a big “journalistic crusade” while trying to keep his relationship with Mare (Chelsea Frei) from becoming another workplace story. Naturally, it does — and Mare eventually leaves for the Cincinnati Chronicle.

But as the season progresses, Ned’s Glass Club investigation becomes the one story that could bring her back. As co-creator Greg Daniels tells Collider, Ned is “trying to juggle both his romance and his obligations to the paper.” Meanwhile, his creative partner Michael Koman says the writers always try to “combine a newspaper story with an emotional story.”

But even as The Paper builds out its own newsroom and gives us another glimpse of local journalism in a bigger city through Mare’s eyes, The Office is never very far behind. Season 2 continues Oscar’s (Oscar Nuñez) little check-ins with Kevin (Brian Baumgartner), where Daniels reveals there was originally a much bigger connection to the original series that ultimately never made it to screen. So, how do Daniels and Koman decide when to lean into The Office and when to pull back?

In an exclusive conversation about Season 2, Collider spoke with Daniels and Koman about balancing The Paper with its Office roots, why Ned ultimately gives away the story he spent all season chasing, what is really going on with Nicole (Ramona Young) after Season 1’s breakup with Detrick (Melvin Gregg), the Office connection that almost happened, and how a character written as a “Jon Lovitz-type” ended up being played by Jon Lovitz himself.

‘The Paper’ Season 2 Turns Ned’s Biggest Story Into a Love Story

“Our goal is always to combine a newspaper story with an emotional story.”

COLLIDER: Ned spends most of the season searching for this big journalistic crusade, only for the Glass Club investigation to ultimately become Mare’s story. What interested you about having Ned finally make the choice he’s been chasing, only to give that choice away to someone he loves?

GREG DANIELS: Well, there is a shape of it from a romantic standpoint of him trying to juggle both his romance and his obligations to the paper and trying to show off with the crusade and having it blow up in his face and having him have to suffer the loss of Mare to another paper and then redeem himself through winning her respect back. So that was sort of a shape for the season.

MICHAEL KOMAN: Our goal is always to combine a newspaper story with an emotional story, and the show is following what’s happening between these people. So, to know how much work Ned has put in over the course of the season to what ultimately becomes his article about the Glass Club, and for him to be able to give that to Mare in a way, or to at least make sure that she was included in that, to me, these are the two things that are the most special to him: to have a piece of journalism that the paper can actually be proud of and to do it with this person, who is so meaningful to him.

Domhnall [Gleeson] did say he feels like he wanted to have a throuple [laughs], like Ned wants to have the paper and then Mare and him all co-exist.

KOMAN: I think it was really hard for him all season to balance these things. I think he thought it would be easy, and I think he was trying to find some way at the end to create some kind of balance.

Daniels Explains Nicole’s Season 2 Breakdown in ‘The Paper’

“She’s someone who’s trying to plan her life… and she finds out that you can’t do that.”

THE PAPER -- Pictured: Ramona Young as Nicole -- (Photo by: John P. Fleenor/Peacock) Image via John P. Fleenor/Peacock

I do have to ask about Nicole, because she has one of the wildest trajectories this season. She loses her best friend, Mare, things fall apart between her and Detrick, and then she becomes fixated on Lisa. What is actually happening underneath all that for Nicole? Is that meant to be her hitting rock bottom, or maybe losing control of things, or trying to create control for herself?

DANIELS: I think what happened was it’s sort of rooted in Season 1, where she entered into a relationship with Detrick and told herself that she had no feelings for him, and dumped him, and then realized afterwards that she had a lot of feelings for him, and she hadn’t been aware of them. I think that she’s just kind of processing that. She’s also trying to do well at work and get out from under Esmeralda’s thumb, and at one point she’s successfully doing that, and then she isn’t.

KOMAN: I think she’s someone who’s trying to plan her life and by controlling her emotions if they’re inconvenient for her, and she finds out that you can’t do that.

“We kind of like these little Easter eggs that just remind you of it without trying to take over.”

THE PAPER -- Pictured: Oscar Nunez as Oscar Martinez -- (Photo by: John P. Fleenor/Peacock) Image via John P. Fleenor/Peacock

I do love that Oscar also keeps checking in with Kevin throughout the season. I’m wondering, was that always intended as a little connective tissue back to his world, and would we ever maybe see Kevin visit Ohio? I know he’s a bartender, but he travels. I’m sure he does.

DANIELS: It’s interesting, at one point, we had a whole scene where Oscar is on the phone. They call him for help, and it’s over the weekend, and he’s like, “I’m sorry. I’m halfway to Pennsylvania.” And he turns around, and he’s met Angela and Kevin for a little birthday party at a restaurant. I don’t know, it just felt kind of unnecessary to the story, like it would grab too much attention. So, we kind of like these little Easter eggs that just remind you of it without trying to take over, kind of.

How ‘The Paper’ Season 2 Landed Jon Lovitz, Andy Richter and Andy Daly

“Why don’t we get the real Jon Lovitz? Let’s not fool around.”

THE PAPER -- Pictured: Melvin Gregg as Detrick and Lisa Gilroy as Lisa -- (Photo by: John P. Fleenor/Peacock) Image via John P. Fleenor/Peacock

I’m wondering also, when you bring in comedians like Lisa Gilroy, Andy Richter or Andy Daly — my two favorite Andys, by the way, so I was so happy — and then Jon Lovitz into this world, are you writing with them in mind, or do you guys create these characters, and then you just have them come to mind?

KOMAN: I think it’s a situation where you are writing with them in mind, not necessarily knowing that you would get them, but you think of a character first, you’re talking about why that character would be interesting or funny, and then inevitably you bring up, so people can get a picture in their mind. I do know that Jon Lovitz was the picture that we brought up that was written in the script: “Jon Lovitz-type.”

DANIELS: Yeah, “Jon Lovitz-type” was what we did. I worked with him on Saturday Night Live, and so I know how funny he can be. Then at some point, we were just like, “Well, why don’t we get the real Jon Lovitz? Let’s not fool around.” It was great. That was the same with Andy Richter. And then Andy Daly, we both loved, and he had tried out for Ken’s role that Tim Key plays, and so we were like, “Aw, can’t get two. You can’t have everybody. We got Tim, and Tim’s amazing. Maybe we’ll find a way to work Andy in,” and then he came in.

KOMAN: Working on a television show is fun anyway, but one of the things that’s the most fun is when you can write with a person in mind and then get to stand there and hear their actual voice saying it. It’s very satisfying.

South Park Changes Its Name to Troll President Donald Trump

Published

on

Everything to Know About RHOSLC Alum Jen Shah's Legal Drama

After 29 years, the creators of South Park are changing the iconic comedy series’ name in an attempt to troll President Donald Trump.

“Following their Emmy win for Outstanding Animated Program, South Park is making a big change,” a Tuesday, September 8, press release read in part. “Creators Trey Parker & Matt Stone announce: ‘Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA. We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.’”

The Comedy Central series also announced that season 29 will premiere on Wednesday, September 16th. New episodes will air every two weeks. The show will be available to stream on Paramount+ the next day.

The name change from South Park to South America is a purposeful dig at Trump, 80, and his apparent obsession with changing the names of various bodies of water and even states.

In January 2025, Trump renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. More recently, Trump issued an executive order changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America following stalled trade talks with Canada. He has also proposed changing the name of New Mexico to New America. (While the president has the authority to force U.S. agencies to use a new name for a body of water or state, he cannot require any other country — including Canada — to follow suit.)

South Park, or dare we say South America now, hasn’t shied away at poking fun at Trump and his administration. When the former reality TV star was elected president for the first time in 2016, the animated show parodied the newly-elected commander-in-chief with its character Mr. Garrison.

Parker and Stone made a different creative decision in season 27, opting to use actual images of Trump and Vice President JD Vance to poke fun at Trump’s second administration in both season 27 and 28.

While Trump hasn’t reacted to South Park’s name change yet, the White House previously released a statement slamming the animated series for its portrayal of the president.

“This show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention,” White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers told Entertainment Weekly in January 2025. “President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country’s history — and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump’s hot streak.”

Over the weekend, the Comedy Central series won its fifth Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The show celebrated the accomplishment on Monday, September 7, and included an image of Trump holding the award in celebration.

“Congratulations to Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and the entire South Park team on their Emmy win for Outstanding Animated Program!” read an Instagram post shared by the show.

Gizelle Bryant, Karen Huger Bump Heads In ‘RHOP’ Trailer

Published

The cast of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Potomac” is entering season 11 with something to prove, and the trailer showed fans exactly that. According to the teaser, the new batch of episodes, which begins airing on October 11 at 8 PM EST, gives fans a preview of what to expect as the Maryland-based ladies get back together for another unforgettable season. In addition to capturing Wendy Osefo‘s ongoing legal woes with her husband, Eddie Osefo, the trailer also showed Karen Huger, who was released from prison in September 2025, nearly getting into a physical altercation with “RHOP” mainstay Gizelle Bryant.

The sneak peek showcased laughter, tears, and plenty of drama. One storyline fans will get an update on is Huger’s relationship with her husband, Ray Huger. Season 10 of “RHOP” didn’t show either of them because Karen Huger was in prison.

After serving six months for her DUI conviction, Huger returned to the show with a new perspective and ready to start a new journey that might not include her longtime partner, whom she once dubbed the “Black Bill Gates.” In the trailer, Huger is seen speaking with her co-stars and telling them she plans to “live separately from Ray.”

Karen Huger Addressed Her Prison Sentence In The Upcoming Batch Of Episodes

Elsewhere in the trailer, Huger is seen addressing her time in prison, telling her castmates she now has “street cred” from being locked behind bars. “I wouldn’t f-ck with me,” she said in a confessional before adding, “If it could happen to me, it could happen to anybody.”

Months ago, Huger appeared on an episode of Sherri Shepherd’s now-canceled talk show, “Sherri,” and spoke about what’s changed in her life since being released from prison. “This is not a reflection of what God has done for me since I healed myself,” she said before speaking about the dangers of her behavior. “No one should drink and drive. I was wrong. Okay. I was absolutely dead wrong. I’m so grateful no one was killed.”

Also in the trailer, Osefo was seen speaking to her inner circle about her ongoing legal woes involving her husband, Eddie.

According to The Blast, police arrested the pair in October 2025 and accused them of fraud. Since then, the reality TV couple have been in and out of court, attempting to have their case dismissed.

And if that wasn’t enough, Wendy and Eddie appear to be having marital difficulties this year, as the “Real Housewives” mainstay was challenged to think about whether her husband would be in the legal mess he’s in now had he not married her.

Gizelle Bryant Bumps Heads With Huger In Explosive Argument

As for Bryant, the show’s longest-running cast member, she’s forced to overcome a surprise hurdle in her relationship with her best friend, Robyn Dixon, who returned to the series as a friend-of-the-show.

“I’m not with the bulls–t,” Dixon told her co-star before another clip shows the mother of two seemingly calling Bryant out for talking “sh-t” about something on an episode of their podcast, “Reasonably Shady.”

But Dixon isn’t the only one pressing Bryant this year. Later in the trailer, the latter is seen getting into a screaming match with Huger, yelling, “Have you lost your f-cking mind?” Huger, meanwhile, told Bryant from across the room that she is “dead to me!”

There’s A New Lady Joining ‘RHOP’

Amid the chaos, a new lady, Courtney Ajinça, joined the cast of “RHOP” for season 11. According to Bravo, Ajinça is an NBA wife, minister, and prophetess.

Although she wasn’t featured much throughout the trailer, Ashley Darby teased in a confessional that Anjiça could be the source of plenty of drama, calling her “cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.”
