‘Killzone 2’ (2009)

‘InFamous’ (2009)

From Sucker Punch Productions, the iconic PlayStation dev team responsible for iconic games like the Sly Cooper trilogy and Ghost of Tsushima, InFamous was their must-play open-world adventure game of the PS3 era, with a compelling story and the catharsis of playing as a character who can control electricity. What really made the game stand out was its karma system, with the story actively changing based on whether the player decided to use their powers for good or for evil.

‘Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time’ (2009)

The lovable cartoon sci-fi antics of Ratchet & Clank have made the franchise one of the most endearing and consistently great across PlayStation history, with this level of quality largely being shared on the Ratchet & Clank Future trilogy on PS3. While Tools of Destruction and Quest for Booty are effective in their own right, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time is the real highlight of the franchise on PS3, still standing as one of the very best entries in the entire franchise.

Part of what makes A Crack in Time so effective is that, on top of the classic Ratchet & Clank style of gameplay, the game experiments with other gameplay styles to really elevate it with the potential of the PS3. This largely comes in the form of playable segments as Clank, utilizing time-based puzzles as he learns more about his origins, as well as Ratchet segments giving free control of the player as you fly from planet to planet, getting into space dogfights in the process. It’s still one of the most individual games in the entire franchise whose story beats have ramifications that are still important in the latest entries.

‘God of War III’ (2010)

The first two God of War games were some of the biggest must-play action games on the PS2, so there was all sorts of excitement and anticipation as to what the upgrade for PS3 would mean for the scale of this legendary franchise. God of War III from the very first moments, doesn’t hold back and acts as one of the most cathartic, highly entertaining action experiences that the PS3 has to offer. It features some of the greatest boss fights in video game history and a level of absolute carnage unmatched by any other entry in the series.

The clear jump in quality and technological prospects from the PS2 to PS3 is staggering for the God of War franchise, as the game is constantly showing off set-pieces and moments that were completely impossible on the PS2 hardware. Distinct moments like the opening boss fight against Poseidon and the legendary battle against Cronos will forever go down in the hearts of gamers as some of the best moments in the entire God of War franchise.

Each main series in the Metal Gear Solid franchise proves to be legendary and groundbreaking to the medium of gaming as a whole, with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, posed as the chronological end of Solid Snake’s story, being no different. The game sees Snake as an old man, having rapidly aged due to a fail-safe placed into his body as a clone of Big Boss. The game features the same brilliant stealth gameplay that the franchise is famous for, with an emphasis on tying up all the loose ends of the franchise into one cohesive narrative.

Guns of the Patriots acts as the ultimate love letter to the Metal Gear franchise as a whole, with narrative and gameplay callbacks to each previous entry in the franchise while also standing as its own impactful experience. The game is also a massive leap forward in terms of the prospects of cinematic storytelling in gaming, famously having nearly 9 hours’ worth of cutscenes in the game, as well as a daunting 71-minute epilogue. If it were any other franchise, it would seem extreme, yet Metal Gear Solid is the exact franchise that can get away with this emphasis on backstory and narrative.

One of the most successful franchises to have originated on the PS3 was Naughty Dog’s legendary action-adventure franchise Uncharted, with the original trilogy making waves as some of the greatest adventure games of all time as PS3 exclusives. Out of this original trilogy, the undeniable highlight is Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, a game that is still considered one of the best Uncharted games and one of the very best adventure games ever made.

The game is unmatched in terms of masterfully concocted action set pieces that feel like they were ripped straight out of an action blockbuster, only even more effective because the player is actively experiencing and playing through these sequences. There might be no actor with a better filmography than Harrison Ford. For over 60 years, the Chicago-born Hollywood mainstay has been involved in some of the greatest films of all time. Ford starred as the President in the brilliant Air Force One, helped adapt Phillip K. Dick‘s novel into sci-fi genius in Blade Runner, pioneered cinema’s most important space-set blockbuster in Star Wars, and revolutionized the adventure genre as Indiana Jones.

Sadly, not every Ford project is destined for glory. This is best exemplified in his most recent on-screen role as the newly elected President “Thunderbolt” Ross in Captain America: Brave New World. Intended as a torch-passing from Chris Evans to Anthony Mackie, the film instead furthered MCU fans’ fears that the franchise was long past its best, earning terrible reviews from critics and bombing at the box office. But this was far from Ford’s first box office bomb, with one of his most disappointing coming back in 2013.

Ender’s Game, directed by X-Men Origins: Wolverine’s Gavin Hood, had everything going for it, with source material that was considered some of the best in literary sci-fi and a leading actor with a pedigree better than most who called the film “a really good family movie” in an interview with Collider. Alas, this clearly wasn’t enough for audiences, with the film only earning $128 million worldwide against a reported budget of $110 million. 13 years later, and Ford’s flop has a chance to redeem itself. Harrison Ford Is Returning to Indiana Jones

Yes, he promised to end his run as the character with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, but Ford still has one more turn as the adventure icon to come. Sadly, this won’t be an on-screen role, but it has been confirmed that Ford will reprise Indy in Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, a new attraction currently being built at Walt Disney World in Florida, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. “Soon it’ll be time for his next ride, and I’m pleased to share that, for the first time ever, I’m the actual model of the Indiana Jones animatronic — fear of snakes included,” Ford said during the announcement.

Long before Taylor Sheridan’s name became virtually synonymous with television Westerns, the Dutton Ranch creator was carving out an extraordinarily strong run of big-screen thrillers. After writing Sicario and Hell or High Water, Sheridan stepped behind the camera himself for a bleak murder mystery set in the frozen wilderness of Wyoming. Throw Jon Bernthal into the equation, and you’ve basically got Yellowstone colliding with The Punisher.

Wind River, now charting on Netflix in numerous territories, is a chilling thriller that follows a rookie FBI agent who teams up with a local game tracker with deep community ties and a haunted past to investigate the murder of a local girl on a remote Native American Reservation in the hopes of solving the mysterious death. The film is a collision of Marvel Cinematic Universe stars crossed with the immense supporting cast of Sheridan’s future television empire.

How Successful Was ‘Wind River’?

Although Wind River was a modest box office success for Sheridan, it was one of the most acclaimed thrillers of 2017 and currently holds an impressive 87% score on Rotten Tomatoes from 250 reviews, alongside an even stronger 90% audience score. The site’s critical consensus praised Sheridan’s character-driven mystery, writing, cast and use of the bleak Wyoming landscape. Critics had particular praise for the performances of Renner and Olsen in the lead roles, the slow-burning tension of the story and the exceptional use of the bleak Wyoming surroundings, which simply added to the atmosphere.

Sheridan also received particular recognition for his first directorial effort, as the movie competed in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, where Sheridan won the Best Director award. Commercially, it punched well above its weight. Wind River earned $33.8 million in the United States alone against a reported production budget of around $11 million, ultimately reaching roughly $44 million worldwide. Combined with its reviews and Cannes win, that made Sheridan’s move into directing a pretty emphatic success.

Sarah Ferguson is reportedly headed back to the United Kingdom amid news of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s surprising return.

Multiple outlets reported that the former Duchess of York, 66, will be returning to England after spending time abroad. Ferguson will be renting a six-bedroom property which costs an estimated $8,000 per month, per The Sun and People. The home is based in the Home Counties near London.

Ferguson has remained out of the spotlight after ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s associations with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein resurfaced.

Ferguson also made headlines in January when the United States Department of Justice released a trove of Epstein Files including past emails, in which Ferguson referred to Epstein as a “spectacular and special friend” and “the brother I have always wished for.” (Ferguson previously addressed backlash surrounding their connection, stating, “I would never have anything to do with Jeffrey Epstein ever again. I abhor paedophilia and any sexual abuse of children. It was a gigantic error of judgment.”)

Earlier this year, she allegedly checked into an “expensive wellness clinic” in Switzerland, according to the Daily Mail. Months later, Ferguson was spotted at a luxury ski chalet in Austria.

News of Ferguson’s return home comes days after Us confirmed that Harry, 41, and Meghan, 45, will be moving back across the pond six years after relocating to the United States. Multiple outlets reported that the couple are relocating their children, Prince Archie, 7, and daughter, Princess Lilibet, 5, to the U.K. for an extended period starting this month. Archie and Lilibet are scheduled to begin school in the U.K. next month.

“Harry is not as happy in the U.S. as he is in the U.K.,” a source exclusively told Us, adding that they “aim to be somewhere outside of London,” rather than directly in the city.

Harry and Meghan will reportedly keep their house in Montecito, California, and their vacation home in Portugal. They will have a non-royal property in Britain.

In the 21st century, as illustrated by the theatrical fortunes of The Mandalorian and Grogu, Weaver’s movies have been hit-and-miss. In 2011, one of the actor’s biggest critical flops arrived in the form of Abduction, which looked to capitalize on the early-2010s popularity of Twilight franchise favorite Taylor Lautner. Lautner starred in Abduction as Nathan Harper, whose life is changed when he discovers a picture of his younger self on a missing persons’ website. The final film directed by the Oscar-nominated John Singleton before his death in 2019 was sadly far from his best work. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Abduction has earned just a 5% approval rating from critics, with audiences awarding just 42%, and one critic writing, “The holes in the film’s twist-filled story are often so big you could almost squeeze Lautner’s sex appeal through them.” Nevertheless, the film has picked up some streaming success in recent years, and is about to be available for free. There’s nothing quite like watching impossibly wealthy people have an absolutely dreadful evening, and this is a film that absolutely understands the assignment. Horror thrillers are particularly effective when they catch you off guard and deliver something that’s genuinely nasty, which is exactly what Succession director Mark Mylod did with this. Mylod brings Anya Taylor-Joy and Ralph Fiennes to the party in a cross between the high society of New York and something as horribly unsettling and uncomfortable as Midsommar.

The Menu follows our heroine Margot, played by ATJ, as she joins her pompous new boyfriend in traveling to an exclusive restaurant located out on a remote coastal island, run by the legendary celebrity chef Julian Slowik (Fiennes). But when they and the other wealthy guests sit down to discover the elaborate tasting menu, they soon discover that each course is going to become more dangerous than the last.

It’s an absolutely savage takedown of wealth, privilege, celebrity, foodie culture and influencers, delivered in about the most entertaining way imaginable. There are plenty of great twists along the way, too. And as much as we hate to admit it, the food looks incredible in almost every shot — but nothing comes close to that utterly beautiful-looking cheeseburger.

The film also features Nicholas Hoult (Superman) as Tyler Ledford, Hong Chau (The Whale) as Elsa, Janet McTeer (Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning) as Lillian Bloom, John Leguizamo (The Green Veil) as The Movie Star, and Judith Light (Poker Face) as Anne Leibrandt. Director Mark Mylod will also be taking the reins on HBO’s new Harry Potter series.

Produced for just $30 million dollars — one of those rare mid-budget thrillers we lament the loss of — The Menu earned $79.6 million worldwide, making it a genuine theatrical hit before becoming an even bigger favorite for audiences on streaming, who gorged on the brief running time, the sharp barbed insults, the genuinely interesting looking dishes and, of course, the cheeseburger. As for critical response, it holds an excellent 88% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes alongside a 76% audience score, with critics singling out Mylod’s direction, Fiennes’ fascinating façade and Taylor-Joy’s determined lead role. In the years since, it’s become widely considered one of the decade’s best horror hits.

Remaking a beloved TV show comes with a simple problem: everybody already has opinions before you’ve made the thing. Change too much, and you’re accused of missing the point; change too little, and people wonder why you even bothered. Then there’s Saturday Night Live UK, which had the teensy-weensy added challenge of adapting one of the most American shows ever made for a British audience. And that was always its first hurdle, something London-born actor and producer Rafe Spall was quick to acknowledge when Collider brought up SNL UK during a recent interview about his Apple TV series, Trying. “In a world that has so many bad things going on, it’s nice to have a surprise every now and again, and one of them is that SNL UK turned out to be really good,” he said with a smile.

“Everyone in the country was ready for it to be shit, trust me. Like everyone was willing it almost, because it’s a very British thing, right? To sort of go like, ‘No, that’s rubbish.’” Admitting the British media was “sharpening their knives” before the series premiere in March, he reiterates how much of a fan he is and that it’s “turned out great,” on top of expressing his own interest in hosting — if granted the chance, of course.

After its Season 1 finale in May, SNL UK‘s reputation is far more favorable. People are no longer talking about it only as Britain’s attempt at an American institution. Its cast is creating moments that belong to this version of the show, while the series itself just took home Best Comedy at the 2026 Edinburgh TV Festival attended by Collider’s own reporter and critic, Greer Riddell, beating out shows from veterans like Steve Coogan and Guz Khan. Not to mention, Jack Shep’s wonderfully unhinged “Princess Di serves face in The Last Supper” also won TV Moment of the Year.

And this makes SNL UK’s first season more interesting than a remake, simply beating low expectations from a rather critical public. The rare thing the series has managed isn’t just making a spin-off series work, but getting people to care about what this version creates on its own outside of its American legacy.

‘Saturday Night Live UK’ Is Starting To Outgrow Its Famous Name

Obviously, having Saturday Night Live in the title is a good way to get people’s attention. After all, the American series is one of the funniest comedy institutions on TV. But a familiar format can only do so much once cameras start rolling, especially when every person behind the renowned Weekend Update desk or wearing a crazy wig has half a century of performers to be compared to. But Saturday Night Live UK quickly figured outthat the cast needed to be the reason to watch. Across its first season, its 11 players started building their own rhythms, characters and relationships without feeling like they were auditioning to become the United Kingdom’s version of something that came before them. Meaning, the format can be familiar, but the people inside it don’t have to.

Shep’s newly award-winning Princess Diana is perhaps the clearest example. It’s delightfully strange, very British, and now recognizable enough on its own to be named TV Moment of the Year. But the win also speaks to what the wider ensemble has built within its two-month run. The fun became seeing which cast member would pop up next, who would completely disappear into a character, or what Ania Magliano and Paddy Young might do behind the Weekend Update desk. And this matters more than we think, because a sketch show can’t live on a famous title forever.

Winning Best Comedy Changes the Conversation for ‘SNL UK’ Season 2

If the first season of SNL UK was introducing the spin-off, the second gets to enjoy a slightly different starting point this September. It doesn’t have to convince everyone that this whole thing can work anymore, because it does (and will) — and we’ll get another 12 episodes to see what it does next. But winning Best Comedy at the Edinburgh TV Festival Awards certainly helps. Though SNL UK was never competing in some specific “Best American Show We Made British” category, it did beat favorites like Changing Ends, How Are You? It’s Alan (Partridge), How To Get To Heaven From Belfast, Man Like Mobeen and Pushers. In other words, it was being treated as British comedy, period. And rightfully, Shep taking TV Moment of the Year only added another trophy to the evening.

That’s also a pretty nice return on what was a pretty big swing by Sky. Each 75-minute episode reportedly costs around £2 million to make, more than four times the price of a traditional sketch show. But Sky’s director, Philip Edgar-Jones, says the investment is reaching exactly the kind of audience a new version of a 50-year-old institution needs: SNL UK has become Sky’s biggest show among 16-to-34-year-olds. “We’re in this for the long run, and we’re super proud of it, and super proud of the team,” Edgar-Jones said at the Edinburgh TV Festival on August 26. “Not to blow our own trumpet, but I think Saturday Night Live and [Prime Video’s] Last One Laughing have both shown that you can do comedy in very different ways on TV, and it can really work.”

And that last part may be the most telling. SNL UK is no longer a test case for whether Britain can borrow an American format. It feels like a show with its own audience, its own wins, and a cast that audiences are already showing up for. Season 2 doesn’t need to prove the concept anymore. It just needs to keep giving this ridiculously talented group room to make it theirs.

Saturday Night Live UK premieres September 12 on Sky and streams the next day in the U.S. on Peacock.

The MCU has built its reputation on enormous battles, emotional sacrifices, and heroes repeatedly being asked to save the universe from certain destruction. But sometimes, the movies that are the easiest to revisit are the ones that simply know how to have a good time. And Marvel definitely knows how to do just that, as their greatest adventures combine great action with memorable characters, infectious humor, and just enough ridiculousness to remind audiences why superheroes were so entertaining in the first place.

From awkward teenage disasters to complete intergalactic chaos, these movies represent the MCU at its most fun. Yes, they may involve world-ending threats and occasionally devastating consequences, but they also understand the importance of a great joke and letting their heroes get a little weird. And spoiler alert—it’s not all just from one particular trilogy.

‘Black Panther’ (2018)

However, his reign is quickly challenged by Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), a mysterious outsider with a legitimate claim to the throne and a radically different vision for what Wakanda should become. But, as the conflict between the two escalates, T’Challa must confront his family’s past and decide what kind of leader he wants to be.

Black Panther may tackle some of the most serious themes of the MCU, but there’s no doubt that spending time in Wakanda is an absolute joy. Ryan Coogler creates a world so culturally rich in detail that every new location, costume, gadget, and character feels like something worth getting excited about. From the wonderfully cheeky rapport between the royal family to the Dora Milaje’s scene-stealing action, there is a huge amount of personality packed into the blockbuster spectacle. Better still, even when the stakes become genuinely emotional, the film never loses its sense of adventure or sheer fun.

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ (2018)

After years of searching, Thanos (Josh Brolin) finally begins collecting the six Infinity Stones, which would give him the power to reshape the entire universe. But, as his campaign takes him across the universe, the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and several other Earth-based heroes are forced into unlikely alliances to stop him before he can complete his mission.

Calling a movie that ends with half the universe disappearing “fun” may sound questionable, but Avengers: Infinity War is such a relentlessly entertaining blockbuster that it completely earns its place here. Naturally, the movie’s biggest strength is the joy of seeing characters from completely different corners of the MCU finally collide, with every new team-up bringing fresh jokes, personality clashes, and action possibilities. The result? A film that never lets you catch your breath as it essentially throws all its toys into one big, expansive storytelling sandbox. So, let me ask you: why is Gamora?

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ (2017)

After helping some of the heroes in their own civil war, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) returns home to Queens and struggles to readjust to ordinary teenage life. As such, determined to prove that he’s ready for bigger things, Peter begins investigating a weapons-trafficking operation led by the Vulture—all while juggling school, friendships, and a very important homecoming dance.

What makes Spider-Man: Homecoming such a blast is that it fully embraces the teenage side of our friendly neighborhood hero. Sure, he can fight criminals, but he’s still a kid that gets flustered in front of his crush, gets distracted by his friends, and occasionally makes a complete mess of situations because he’s trying far too hard to impress the adults around him. Holland gives the character an infectious enthusiasm, while the high-school comedy blends seamlessly among the superhero action. It’s easily become one of the MCU’s most charming additions because saving the day is only half the fun.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ (2024)

After the Time Variance Authority informs Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) that his universe is in danger, he immediately jumps into a multiversal adventure. Convinced that he needs a Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to help save his world, Wade travels across the multiverse in search of the perfect version of Logan before eventually teaming up with one who is considerably less enthusiastic about the arrangement.

Deadpool & Wolverine is shameless fan service, but that’s very much part of the appeal. Reynolds and Jackman make a fantastic comic pairing, with Wade’s relentless chaos repeatedly colliding with Logan’s exhaustion and determination to be left alone. The movie is wonderfully stacked with brutal action, comic-book references, cameos, and fourth-wall-breaking jokes, that also use the multiverse as an excuse to celebrate (and occasionally make fun of) Marvel’s long cinematic history. It’s loud, ridiculous, and often gloriously self-indulgent, but watching these two characters finally share the screen is simply too much fun to ignore.

‘Iron Man’ (2008)

Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is a brilliant but arrogant weapons manufacturer whose life changes forever after he’s kidnapped and forced to confront the destruction caused by his own company. Using his engineering skills to escape captivity, Tony builds a makeshift suit of armor and returns home determined to change both himself and Stark Industries—even if that brings him into conflict with his own trusted business partner.

The MCU has grown considerably more complicated since 2008, but Iron Man remains such a fun watch because it’s built around one incredibly entertaining character. Downey Jr. makes Tony’s confidence, sarcasm, and occasional incompetence impossible to resist. Plus, watching the technological evolution remains enormously satisfying, with the film treating every new invention like the coolest toy imaginable. Iron Man understood that heroes could be genuinely exciting without taking themselves too seriously. And that sense of playful discovery is what makes this (and the rest of the films that followed) such a blast.

‘Ant-Man’ (2015)

Having recently been released from prison, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is determined to turn his life around and become a better father to his daughter. However, after struggling to keep a solid job, he decides to briefly return to his thieving ways, leading him to unknowingly break into the home of scientist Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), where he discovers a suit that allows its wearer to shrink to the size of an ant.

Ant-Man gets an enormous amount of entertainment out of its wonderfully ridiculous premise. Because among the tales of Gods and magic, who would possibly want the ability to shrink to the size of an ant? Of course, that’s the magic of Rudd, who makes Scott an instantly likable underdog. Meanwhile, the shrinking technology allows the filmmakers to turn ordinary locations into extremely inventive action sequences. Suddenly, a bathtub is an ocean and a Thomas the Tank Engine set becomes the site of a mega superhero showdown. Sure, the stakes may be a little smaller than your typical world-ending MCU movies, but that’s exactly what makes the film such a refreshing and consistently fun change of pace.

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ (2017)

After discovering that Hela (Cate Blanchett), the long-lost Goddess of Death, has returned to claim the throne of Asgard, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) finds himself stranded on the distant planet Sakaar without his trusty hammer. Now, captured by the eccentric Grandmaster and forced to compete as a gladiator, Thor must escape Sakaar and assemble a team capable of saving Asgard from destruction—even if that includes his trickster brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

After years of Shakespearen grandeur, Taika Waititi completely reinvigorated Thor’s corner of the MCU by leaning into just how strange and funny the character’s world could be. Hemsworth gets to fully flex his comedic talents, while the combination of supporting heroes/villains/anti-heroes creates one of the franchise’s most entertaining ensembles. Packed with colorful visuals, genuinely funny jokes, iconic needle-drops, and spectacular action, Thor: Ragnarok somehow manages to make the literal destruction of Asgard an incredibly enjoyable (and rewatchable) time.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ (2014)

After stealing a mysterious orb, space outlaw Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) becomes the target of several dangerous forces across the galaxy. In an attempt to survive, he forms an unlikely alliance with an assassin, a revenge-driven warrior, and two bounty hunters. And despite being deeply dysfunctional and constantly irritating one another, the group eventually work together to stop Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) from using the orb to destroy the world.

Few MCU movies are as consistently enjoyable as Guardians of the Galaxy. James Gunn combines action, comedy, and a stellar soundtrack with one of the franchise’s best ensembles, giving every member of the team a distinct personality and plenty of opportunities to shine. Better still, beneath the jokes and cosmic chaos lies a genuinely sweet story about lonely people accidentally finding a family among themselves. Funny, energetic, heartfelt, and endlessly rewatchable, Guardians of the Galaxy (and the rest of its chapters) is the MCU at its most pure, unapologetic fun.
