The ‘Ghosts’ Universe May Be About to Get Much Bigger [Exclusive]

Three people standing, one bearing vampire teeth in Eternally Yours.

This fall, Ghosts is rolling out the (blood) red carpet to welcome a spooky new sister series to the Thursday night lineup on CBS. Last week, at San Diego Comic-Con, the lucky attendees in Ballroom 20 were the first to see the pilot episode of Eternally Yours, a new series from Ghosts showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman. The preview episode was followed by an exciting panel introducing the wickedly talented cast, moderated by Collider’s Perri Nemiroff. Naturally, when Nemiroff caught up with the cast at Collider’s SDCC interview studio, she had to ask what a potential crossover between the shows helmed by Port and Wiseman might look like, and the Eternally Yours cast came prepared.

When asked which character from Ghosts they’d like to see their characters share a scene with, Ed Weeks, who plays vampire patriarch Charles, instantly imagined his character “having a quarrel with Isaac about who is the de facto leader of the group. […] An arrogance-off.” Jaren Lewinson — who plays Max, the human boyfriend of Charles and Liz’s (Allegra Edwards) vampire daughter, Emma (Helen J. Shen) — said he would be happy to “maybe just watch some sports with Jay.” Lewinson continued: “I think we would have a really nice time. I think it’d be like a nice, really lovely, normal interaction for the both of us,” he laughed. “He doesn’t get to have that, and I don’t think I do very much either. There’s a lot of supernatural stuff going on,” explained Lewinson, to which Weeks joked, “And he’d be able to see you, which is so lovely. That’s one of my favorite qualities about you — how visible you are.”

Edwards, who Ghosts fans will recognize from her guest role on the series as Pete’s (Richie Moriarty) island girlfriend, Donna, naturally took the opportunity to reference her time on the show. “I would have a little sit-down with Pete and freak him out because of how much I resemble a certain ex-girlfriend of his. […] I don’t even have to do anything. It would just be Richie [Moriarty] going, ‘Do I know you?’” Meanwhile, Shen couldn’t resist poking fun at a certain pants-less ghost, saying, “I feel like a pants-less conversation would be like, ‘I’m not not thinking about the fact that you’re not wearing pants.’ […] With Trevor. He’s so funny. There’s a dryness to his legs, his ashen, Asher [Grodman] legs.”

Camp Crystal Lake · Friday the 13th

Jason Voorhees

Jason is relentless, but he is also predictable — and that is the gap you would exploit.

  • He moves in straight lines toward his target. He doesn’t strategise, doesn’t adapt, doesn’t outsmart. He simply pursues.
  • Your ability to keep moving, use the environment, and resist the panic that freezes most victims gives you a genuine edge.
  • The Crystal Lake survivors were always the ones who stopped running in circles and started thinking about terrain, water, and distance.
  • You think like that. Which means Jason, for all his indestructibility, would face someone who simply refused to be where he expected.

Haddonfield, Illinois · Halloween

Michael Myers

Michael watches before he moves. He is patient, methodical, and almost impossible to detect — until it’s too late for anyone who isn’t paying close enough attention.

  • But you are paying attention. You notice the shape in the window, the car parked slightly wrong, the silence where there should be sound.
  • Michael’s power lies in the invisibility of ordinary suburbia — the fact that nothing ever looks wrong until it already is.
  • Your spatial awareness and instinct to map every room, every exit, and every shadow before you need them is precisely the quality Laurie Strode had.
  • You are not a victim waiting to happen. You are someone who already suspects something is wrong — and acts on it.

Elm Street · A Nightmare on Elm Street

Freddy Krueger

Freddy wins by getting inside your head — using your own fears, your own memories, your own subconscious as weapons against you. That strategy requires a target who can be destabilised.

  • You are harder to destabilise than most. You’ve faced uncomfortable truths about yourself and you haven’t looked away.
  • The survivors on Elm Street were always the ones who understood what was happening and chose to face it rather than flee from it.
  • Freddy’s greatest weakness is that his power evaporates in the presence of someone who refuses to give him the fear he feeds on.
  • Your psychological resilience — the ability to stay grounded when reality itself becomes unreliable — is exactly the quality that keeps you alive here.

Derry, Maine · It

Pennywise

Pennywise is ancient, shapeshifting, and feeds on terror — but it has one critical vulnerability: it cannot function against someone who genuinely stops being afraid of it.

  • The Losers Club didn’t survive because they were braver than everyone else. They survived because they faced their fears together, and faced them honestly.
  • You ask the questions others avoid. You look directly at what frightens you rather than turning away.
  • That directness — the refusal to let fear fester in the dark — is Pennywise’s worst nightmare.
  • It chose the wrong target when it chose you. You are exactly the kind of person whose fear tastes like nothing at all.

Chicago · Child’s Play

Chucky

Chucky’s greatest advantage is that nobody takes him seriously until it’s already too late. He exploits the gap between how something looks and what it actually is.

  • You don’t have that gap. You take threats seriously regardless of how they present — and you never make the mistake of underestimating something because of its size or appearance.
  • Chucky relies on surprise, on the delay between recognition and response. You close that delay faster than almost anyone.
  • Your instinct to treat every unfamiliar thing with appropriate scepticism — rather than dismissing it because it seems absurd — is the exact quality that keeps you breathing.
  • Against Chucky, not laughing is already winning. You are very good at not laughing.

What Do You Need to Know About ‘Eternally Yours’ Before It Premieres This Fall

While their backstories are subject to change as writing moves forward on the new series, the cast of Eternally Yours revealed some juicy details about their character choices as they film the rest of Season 1 alongside Ghosts in Montreal, Canada. When asked about backstory details they’ll use to inform their performances, Weeks once again had a perfectly succinct answer. He told Nemiroff: “For me, I think because in the cold open, so 500 years ago when we’re first getting together, and we both speak with English accents, I love the idea that I have kept mine, just stubbornly, whereas Liz has, has assimilated into American culture, and I refuse to. No, thank you. So, to me, that was kind of a statement in my kind of stick-in-the-mud conservatism.”

For Shen, she’s ready to dive into Emma’s dating history to further explore why she’s so drawn to Max now. “To be in the body that she’s in eternally, she’s probably gotten many degrees, done many skills, experienced, honestly, everything under the sun, and to decide, ‘I’m going to try the thing that I’ve never tried before,’ — normal — is quite an interesting kind of outside-in experience to me,” explained Shen. “I’m excited to see how that deepens our relationship. Then, when, potentially, if things get rocky, how there’s maybe some apprehension about it or, like, ‘This is the whole reason why I didn’t do normal before!’ Things like that. To have 200 years of backstory is, I think, daunting at times, but also, it’s an exercise in my imagination and our imagination, and talking about it. I just am excited about getting around a campfire and talking our histories together.”

Comparatively, as the show’s main human character, Lewinson’s Max has significantly less backstory than the others, having only been alive for “20-something years.” However, that gave Lewinson plenty of inspiration for how to play Max, explaining, “I think that also brings a freshness and a newness, and sort of, I don’t know if it’s a little puppy energy in the grand scheme of how long everyone else has been alive, but I think that Max probably is really excited because this is only the first time that he’s really lived this life, versus maybe they have had several, like Helen was saying. So, I think hopefully, as Max interacts more with this family and this coven, he brings in some freshness and some excitedness, which hopefully will inspire others to rekindle things or take on new adventures, or whatever.”

Edwards had an equally thoughtful answer, revealing that she actually worked with some of the show’s “amazing wardrobe designers” to create a beautiful bit of backstory built right into her costume. “We’ve got some amazing wardrobe designers on our show, and they have such a task in front of them with the flashbacks, which is going to be fun, but also a lot of work,” said Edwards, making sure to give the below-the-line team their well-deserved flowers. She went on to reveal a subtle costume detail that Liz wears that reveals a deep love for history. She told Nemiroff:

“One of the things that they gifted me with for the pilot was this really cool ring. It’s a wedding ring, and it’s a replica of something that would have been around in the 1500s that is two separate rings. So, it’s like a gemstone on the bottom, and then you slide on another gemstone, and they interlock once they’re together, but the man would have worn the top one, and then once they get married, I would wear both of them together. So, I’m always wearing something from the 1500s. Or there’s a blazer that I wear that has the initial B for Blythe, and I like the idea that maybe it’s 300 years old and not just something…

The way that I’m thinking about her is this sort of collected house that she lives in, that maybe the pieces of art are really from her family, 400 years ago. The things that she wears reflect a version of herself from another century, and their not being able to help holding onto the heritage, or being attracted to the things from the eras that we’ve lived through and that we’re not in anymore, while also trying to be modern at the same time.”

While Young’s character detail can also be spotted in his wardrobe, his article of choice is significantly less subtle than Edwards’ wedding ring. “One little thing that I fought for in the pilot was, Jesse was described as being a personal trainer, so as you would expect, my wardrobe was that of a personal trainer. It was Lululemon, and it just felt like it was missing an opportunity to showcase someone who has lived for a couple of centuries,” said Young before revealing he had strong feelings about including a bit of anachronism in the way Jesse dresses.

“I was stuck on this idea of, he lived in the 1800s. He was a farmhand, and he was a cowboy. […] So, I fought to wear cowboy boots. I wanted to have something reminiscent of that time, even if the rest of my wardrobe was indicative of a personal trainer. And it was so funny, the costume designer, who’s incredibly talented, describes seeing me for the first time in my workout pants with cowboy boots as nails on a chalkboard for her. She’s like, “I could not accept this, but then seeing it now, it makes sense.” Weeks joked that they’re “just justifying the fact that he has cowboy boots and I have a British accent. Everyone else has thought about this…”

Why ‘Eternally Yours’ Is the Perfect New Series to Make the Wait for ‘Ghosts’ Season 6 Feel Shorter

During a separate interview, Ghosts star Utkarsh Ambudkar hyped up the new series that will be premiering in their usual time slot this fall. “You get a great sort of cousin to Ghosts in Eternally Yours, which is premiering, and they will slide into that Thursday spot that folks are really used to seeing. Eternally Yours is replacing us, but I think it’s a great show.” He explained, “We watched the pilot today. It’s really funny, really smart, and hopefully will give them a boost because we want them to stay on and be part of the CBS family, especially because they’re children of the Joes, as well. And if they do well, then we get that crossover, which would be great.” Asher Grodman then joked, “And they have to stay in Montreal with us because we’re really lonely.”

When asked which Eternally Yours character they would like to see their Ghosts characters interacting with, Grodman revealed more delightful behind-the-scenes overlap, explaining, “Oh, I mean, I went to grad school with Allegra [Edwards], so we spent many, many an hour working together, so that would be a no-brainer. And Trevor would love that character. So yeah, that would be a nightmare and so exciting.” Román Zaragoza, who was pulling double duty at SDCC for Ghosts and Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, missed the pilot screening, but said he would happily share the screen with Shen after seeing her performance in Maybe Happy Ending on Broadway. “It brought me to tears. I took my mom, and it was such an amazing Broadway performance. If anyone has not seen Maybe Happy Ending, check it out. […] She’s incredible. Tony-nominated. So, selfishly, I would love to work with her. It could be really fun.” Meanwhile, Ambudkar would love to have a The Mindy Project reunion with Weeks: “It’s been many, many years, so it’d be nice to see him in a work environment.”

Eternally Yours premieres on October 8, and Ghosts will air a 1-hour Halloween special on October 29 on CBS. Stay tuned at Collider for more.

Claressa Shields Tweets About A “Clout Chaser,” Feeling “Unfazed”

Claressa Shields Tweets About A "Clout Chaser" & Feeling "Unfazed" Amid Online Mentions Of Remy Ma & Papoose

Claressa Shields is locked in during this season of her life, no matter who or what the internet is chattin’ about. She recently announced her mindset on X amid online mentions of her boyfriend Papoose and his ex, Remy Ma. These mentions come after Remy appeared to name-drop Pap during a recent performance.

Claressa Shields Tweets About A “Clout Chaser” & Being Locked In

As mentioned, the champion boxer took to X, formerly Twitter, early Monday (August 3) with four words and a laughing emoticon. She tweeted, “Ha another clout chaser” without any additional context.

A few hours later, Claressa circled back to X with another tweet. This time, she included a photo of herself laughing while wearing a stunning black, chiffon, floor-length robe. Her post said, “Unfazed in all aspects of my life. The big picture is real beautiful & I’m going to get there.”

Less than an hour later, Claressa Shields circled back to explain where she’s at mentally ahead of her fight on August 15 against Kaye Scott. The champ explained how grounded she’s been feeling while in training camp. She made one thing clear: she’s enjoying her good life.

“In training camp my mind is open so wide, my relationship with God is so much closer and I hear him clearly. He exposes attacks and wickedness before it reaches me and gives me the calmness to deal with whatever it is. I’m enjoying the good life. So much peace & happiness.”

What Did Remy Ma Say About Papoose?

Again, looking at her online activity, Claressa Shields did not say whether her tweets were a direct response to a person or incident. However, fans are still drawing conclusions in her replies section. Some are pointing to Remy Ma appearing to shade her estranged husband, Papoose, by calling him out during Angie Martinez’s Summer BBQ. She performed her recent single, ‘W.Y.F.L.’, which fans had previously assumed was a diss towards Pap. In the track, she called out ghostwriting allegations that have surrounded their former working relationship for years. He’s also made that claim! But in her song, Remy Ma clarified she’s the only one pushing her pen before hopping in the booth.

During her performance at the bbq, she spiced up the lyrics by adding in Papoose’s name—a notable difference from the no-name dissing in ‘W.F.Y.L.’ She rapped, “You always acting like you helped. Pap, n***a, go help yourself.” He seemingly has not responded to the apparent call out.

Claressa Checks Interviewer Over “Somebody’s Husband” Comments

Like Claressa Shields’ tweets, it’s unclear what prompted Remy Ma to name-drop Papoose during her bbq performance. However, we know that ahead of that mic-drop moment, Claressa had a viral incident involving her man and his ex.

Last week, she stopped by a popular Atlanta radio station to promote her upcoming fight. Shifting the conversation Shields’ love life, an interviewer asked how long the boxer planned to “be in a relationship with somebody’s husband.” Claressa immediately addressed the use of words, saying “…That’s not somebody’s husband. Papoose filed for divorce.” She added that he filed for divorce because he’s “serious” about her. Additionally, she called out the alleged double standard, saying Remy Ma needs to also be addressed as his wife and held accountable “for what she’s doing in her life.” The boxer claimed Remy is also living her life, enjoying someone else other than Papoose.

“So don’t make it seem like it’s just one-sided. I’m not with somebody’s husband. I’m with the man who filed for divorce, who’s serious about me, who’s done things for me that I’ve done for him. So that’s not what it is.”

Tyrese Asks For Prayers

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Tyrese asked for prayers, love, and support from his fans. He also explained that he was feeling discouraged, overwhelmed, and stressed.

Text over the video read, “Stretch your hands out please and pray for me. I really feel discouraged and feel like I’m about to lose my mind.”

“Perception versus reality is a very real thing,” he wrote. “Wherever you are in the world, and whatever God you serve, I’m asking you to stretch your hands toward this screen and pray for me.”

He added that “Most people would never post something like this on Instagram.” In addition, he said that he was “on the brink,” “overwhelmed, deeply stressed, and being pushed to my limits.”

“Everything imaginable has been hitting me from every direction-mentally, emotionally, psychologically, and financially,” he wrote. “I have an extremely high tolerance for pain. Most of the time, I smile my way through whatever I’m carrying, whether people realize I’m hurting or not. But right now, I’m empty. I’m depleted. My soul is tired.”

Tyrese added that he is usually the one giving encouragement, but he “desperately” needs it now.

“I need somebody to be there for me,” he continued. “Please take this post seriously. I’m not asking for money or anything material. I’m asking for prayer, covering, love, positive energy and genuine support. Please literally pray for me. What I’m carrying is heavy-very heavy-and I don’t believe I can continue carrying all of it alone. Pride and ego come before the fall, and only pride or ego would stop me from being honest enough to post this. Please stretch your hands toward this screen and pray for me. Write your prayers in the comments because I want to read every single one. Thank You, Jesus, in advance for everything You have already done-and everything You are about to do.”

The actor also shared a post on Instagram on Sunday, August 2, that may shock some fans. He shared a video of Pastor Warryn Campbell preaching, and Tyrese noted that he’s been called on to preach.

“I’M ALMOST SCARED TO POST THIS,” he wrote. “For years, people have told me that I’m called to preach. My grandfather was a pastor with his own church in St. Louis. I’m a truth-seeker who loves Jesus Christ, and I remain public and unapologetic about my faith—even though I am far from perfect.”

He also said he was joining the church.

“Pastor John Gray, thank you for PREACHING today,” he continued. “I cried and cried again. California Worship Center blessed me. Next week, I’m returning with Zelie Timothy, and we’re becoming members. I’ve been searching for a church home—and I finally found it. THANK YOU, JESUS!”

60 Years Ago, The Beatles Released an Album That Changed Everything

Published

on

The Beatles

In the mid-60s, The Beatles altered their approach to the endless cycle of recording albums and touring. The quartet decided to spend more time crafting songs in the studio and all but stopped performing live. In 1965, The Beatles released two records, Help! and Rubber Soul, both of which bridge a gap between distinct eras of the group. Rubber Soul is really when things began to shift as the group showed obvious growth towards lyrical maturity and musical sophistication. They focused on pushing the boundaries of the studio and creating more complex, progressive and harmonically rich music.

Rubber Soul features the Beatles’ classics “Drive My Car,” “Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown),” the first Beatles’ song to feature the sitar, “Nowhere Man,” and “You Won’t See Me.” It marks the beginning of a change for the group, as it was the first album to be made without the strains of a tour dates or public appearances. With time to create and develop songs in the studio, The Beatles changed music forever with its next LP.

The Fab Four released Revolver in August 1966. Their seventh studio album showcases a continued evolution of a band, perhaps inspired by light LSD and marijuana use, that used the recording studio as its own instrument and to create sounds that may not be replicable in a live setting. Along with producer George Martin, The Beatles pioneered the use of double-tracking vocals, tape loops, various recording speeds, and backwards guitars, using them elegantly along with a unique blend of strings, horns, tablas and sitars.

“‘Taxman’ was when I first realized that even though we had started earning money, we were actually giving most of it away in taxes; it was and still is typical. Why should this be so? Are we being punished for something we have forgotten to do?”

Revolver is a no-skip masterpiece that kicks off with George Harrison‘s universally relatable “Taxman.” It leaps off the record with its gritty and punchy guitar sound. Paul McCartney plays an incredibly avant-garde guitar solo that somehow fits brilliantly. “Eleanor Rigby” is one of the saddest, yet most beautiful songs of all-time, which abandoned the use of traditional rock instruments: guitar, bass and drums. The song features an octet of stringed instruments, showing off classical musical influences and redefining what 60s pop music could be.

Revolver Showcases Eastern and Psychedelic Influences

“Love To You” features all Indian instrumentation: tambura, which creates a drone sound, tablas, and sitar. The track opens a psychedelic doorway into the album and was inspired by George Harrison’s fascination with Eastern music and Ravi Shankar. The Beatles also used the tambura and reversing tape techniques on John Lennon‘s trance-like masterpiece “Tomorrow Never Knows,” which uses reversed and sped up laughter to sound like seagulls and manipulated guitars to create a sonic landscape that really takes listeners on a journey. George Martin put Lennon’s vocals through a Leslie speaker to create that washy sound that infects the song, which launched an innovative and unorthodox musical movement. The two songs are starkly different, yet show off totally different sides of the band’s creativity, inspiration and technical prowess.

McCartney said that he and Lennon were inspired by The Beach Boys album Pet Sounds, which was released just a month before The Beatles went into the studio to record Revolver. McCartney specifically noted that Brian Wilson’s vocal harmonies on “God Only Knows,” inspired the intro of the expertly crafted “Here, There, and Everywhere.” In an expanding and friendly musical rivalry, Brian Wilson’s Pet Sounds was inspired by Rubber Soul which, in turn, motivated The Beatles to up their game going on to create the ambitious 1967 album Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. The Beach Boys-inspired vocal harmonies are clear on songs like “She’s Leaving Home,” “When I’m Sixty-Four,” and “With a Little Help from my friends.”

The Beatles Were Hitting a Creative Peak in 1966

The Beatles were hitting a creative peak in 1966 with converging influences like classical, Indian, children’s music as well as a heavy dose of psychedelia. Every song has something that makes it stand out. “Got To Get You Into My Life” features a poppy and soulful horn section and “For No One” boasts a French Horn solo. “I’m Only Sleeping” has a backwards lead guitar solo from George Harrison, marking the first time the technique was used in pop music. Producer George Martin took the initial take and flipped the tape, so the solo would play backwards, creating an innovating new sound that paved the way for future experimentation.

Revolver is stacked with iconic songs including “Yellow Submarine,” which features Ringo Starr on vocals and uses some non-traditional instruments and sounds like bells, footsteps, laughter, glasses clinking chains and more to create a visceral sea shanty song with a sing-a-long chorus. The track was a number one hit in the UK and peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Yellow Submarine” is an irresistibly catchy song that later inspired a 1968 animated film.

Revolver’s Lasting Influence and Legacy

Revolver was nominated for two Grammy Awards back in 1967, winning Best Album Cover, Graphic Arts for the psychedelic design by Klaus Voormann. It topped the Billboard album chart in August 1966, spending six consecutive weeks at number one. The effort was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999 and was preserved by the Library of Congress National Recording Registry in 2023. Revolver changed popular music forever, inspiring classic rock artists like Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Electric Light Orchestra as well as Radiohead, Oasis and Tame Impala to name a few.

More than six decades after its release, Revolver’s legacy and impact is undeniable. The use of pioneering sounds and an incredibly sophisticated use of the recording studio advanced the boundaries of the sonic landscapes of the 60s. Lyrically, the effort highlights social commentary, loneliness, Eastern philosophy, romance and deep introspection. It is widely considered one of the greatest albums the band has produced. Revolver runs the gamut of sounds ranging from orchestral pop, folk, soul, avant-garde, Indian classical music and an emerging psychedelic rock movement. The LP had a ripple effect across the music industry that is still resounding as each new generation embraces the legendary album.

Your Perfect Band Is Revealed

Based on your personality, energy, and taste, the classic rock band that matches your soul is…

⚡ AC/DC

You are pure, undiluted rock energy. You don’t need tricks, trends, or theatrical gimmicks — you have something more powerful: a riff that hits like a thunderbolt and an attitude that never wavers. Like AC/DC, you understand that simplicity executed with absolute conviction is its own form of genius. You’re the person in the room who doesn’t overthink it, doesn’t pretend, and never turns the volume down. The highway to hell is a state of mind — and you’ve been on it since day one.

👅 The Rolling Stones

You’ve got swagger that can’t be taught. Rihanna Seemingly Addresses Baby Rumors, Talks "Little Pouch"

Edward James Porter, an Illinois man, is reportedly the third person arrested for allegedly making threats in the Nolan Wells investigation, as Mississippi official Sean Tindell says the circulating toxicology report labeled as the late teen’s is fraudulent.

Illinois Man Third Arrested For Alleged Threats

According to the Sun Herald, Edward James Porter has also been charged in a federal criminal complaint. This, for allegedly “transmitting a threatening communication in interstate commerce to kill or injure two witnesses” connected to the Nolan Wells case.

Per Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Christopher Kloc, Porter threatened two witnesses via phone calls and texts on Friday, July 31. Specifically, he allegedly told one witness he had their home address and was going to “come kill” them and their family. From there, he allegedly texted the witness their address. Additionally, Porter allegedly called a second witness, threatened to kill them, cut up their body, and stuff them into a suitcase.

The arrest of Edward James Porter arrived days after Cincinnati woman Michelle Francine Edwards was charged with “transmitting in interstate commerce a threatening communication to kill or injure another person and to damage or destroy a building,” per The Shade Room. Edwards allegedly directed her threats toward the George County Chancery Clerk’s Office and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Prior to this, California man Joseph Alfredo Vasquez Dumarce was charged with “interstate transmission of a threatening communication,” per The Shade Room. Durmace allegedly directed his threats toward Chancery Judge Ashlee Cole, the mother of a teen who traveled to Horn Island with Nolan Wells on July 4.

Mom Of Teen Who Was On Horn Island With Nolan Xavier Wells Says Family Is Receiving Death Threats: “We Also Want To Know What Happened”

Mississippi Official Says Circulating Nolan Wells Toxicology Report Is “Fraudulent”

According to PEOPLE, the past weekend also marked the Mississippi Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell addressing a circulating toxicology report.

“The purported toxicology report from Nolan Wells circulating through social media on various outlets is fraudulent. Nolan’s family, friends, and most importantly, Nolan himself, deserve better. Fraudsters, AI, and social media are a recipe for disaster. All they want you to do is click and share, don’t!” he stated via Facebook.

Furthermore, on August 1, Bart Edmiston’s lawyer, Russell Latino, also addressed the “phony” toxicology reports via Facebook.

“There are phony toxicology reports on Nolan Wells circulating now. Some of them are very well done if you don’t know what to look for. (They look very real). The disinformation campaigns in this case are wild and candidly undermine the actual investigation. Someone’s death should not be your entertainment. Touch grass today,” he wrote.

To note, the Wells’ family attorney, Ben Crump, also addressed the “fake toxicology report” via X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Mississippi officials say a fake toxicology report about Nolan Xavier Wells has been circulating online, while the official report has not yet been publicly released. Misinformation only deepens this grieving family’s pain. We must remain focused on the facts and ensure Nolan’s family receives the truth they have been waiting for,” he wrote.

Nolan Wells’ Mom Speaks On Intoxication Rumors

On Friday, July 31, Nolan Wells’ mom, Christine Wonsley, appeared on a livestream with Don Lemon. During this livestream, she spoke about rumors alleging her son was “sloppy drunk,” or heavily intoxicated, on Horn Island on July 4. In footage captured by TMZ, Wonsley said: “There are so many conflicting stories.”

“Only because I have spoken with adults who knew Nolan very well — coaches that were out there. One in particular, he told me he saw Nolan somewhere between 2:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. He was like… and he was like, ‘He was perfectly fine,’” Wonsley recalled.

'Wicked: For Good' European Premiere In London, UK

Ariana Grande has reassured fans that her upcoming break from the spotlight is something she planned long before recent headlines or online speculation.

The singer addressed the decision in an emotional message during her Eternal Sunshine Tour stop in Chicago, making it clear that stepping back was never a reaction to outside noise.

As her heartfelt remarks resonated with fans, one of the people closest to her publicly showed unwavering support, celebrating both Ariana’s latest artistic work and the person behind it.

Rather than letting recent speculation define the conversation, Ariana Grande used her return to the stage at Chicago’s United Center to explain the decision herself.

As The Blast reported, the Grammy Award winner stressed that her plans had been in place well before the public announcement.

“The announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing. It is something that I had decided to plan,” Ariana explained, adding that she had made the decision “quietly, a long time ago.”

The former Nickelodeon star also dismissed claims that outside negativity had overshadowed what the tour meant to her.

“No matter what noises exist out there, nothing will be able to distort my reality or be more real to me or not as real to me as this love that we share,” Ariana said.

Calling the Eternal Sunshine Tour “one of the most healing, beautiful, correct and special experiences” of her life, she paused before adding, “That felt good.”

Ariana’s Mother Publicly Celebrates Her Latest Project

Following Ariana Grande’s emotional confession, Joan Grande made her feelings known with a heartfelt show of support on social media.

Commenting on her daughter’s Instagram post featuring behind-the-scenes images from the newly released “Petal” music video, Joan praised both her daughter’s work and the artist herself.

“You are magnificent… and this video is incredible!! I love it and I love you more!!!” she wrote.

The post featured several striking images from the visual, including scenes of Ariana covered in blood and holding a chainsaw.

Ariana’s emotional message echoed what her team had already shared about her plans after the Eternal Sunshine Tour.

According to her representative, the singer will step away from public-facing appearances once the tour concludes in London on September 1.

“Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour,” the representative told PEOPLE.

They added that Ariana was looking forward to finishing the tour “healthily and happily” before taking “a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.”

The representative also emphasized that the tour itself had been an overwhelmingly positive experience, noting, “This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”

While Ariana Grande’s big announcement has dominated headlines, her latest album and its striking visuals are generating just as much conversation.

Released on July 31, “Petal” marks the star’s eighth studio album and showcases a noticeably different creative direction.

Rather than relying on the powerhouse vocals that defined much of her earlier career, the project embraces a more restrained, emotionally layered sound, with critics pointing to its introspective lyrics and understated production as signs of an artist entering a new phase.

The album’s lead single, “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” has already become another career milestone, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and giving Ariana her tenth chart-topping single.

Amid the career milestones, Ariana is also pursuing legal action over what she claims was a coordinated effort to steal and distribute some of her most closely guarded creative work.

According to The New York Times, the 33-year-old recently launched legal action against unidentified hackers she alleged orchestrated a years-long campaign to steal and distribute her unreleased music and private content.

Court filings claimed the hackers gained unauthorized access to people within Ariana’s professional circle before obtaining unreleased masters, demo recordings, private photographs, recording session footage, and music video assets.

According to the filing, the alleged operation resulted in dozens of songs being leaked online, with 45 unreleased tracks surfacing in 2023 alone.

Ariana is seeking permission to subpoena digital records that could help identify those responsible, arguing that the stolen material was later sold and distributed across the internet.

“Is it OK if we get a little real tonight?” the “We Can’t Be Friends” singer said onstage Monday, August 3, at her Eternal Sunshine Tour in Chicago, per footage posted via X.

She continued, “Sometimes when a story comes out that’s not directly from me, things can get a little blown out of proportion, so I just wanted to speak to my fans directly tonight, because I love you so much.”

“The announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing,” Grande, 33, explained. “It is something that I had decided, a plan I had quietly made a long time ago, and it’s a decision that was made from a thoughtful and empowered place.”

Grande addressed concerns that her fans “were worried that ‘negativity’ was ruining things for me,” insisting that is not the case.

“I want you to know that many things can be true at the same time,” she said. “Boundaries can need to be set, human beings can need a break sometimes, and also, this can be and will continue to be the greatest experience of my professional career.

Taylor Sheridan Meets ‘Succession’ in Paramount+’s 2-Season Neo-Western Series

Published

on

Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris sitting in a chair, holding his hat and talking in Landman.

No creator is more prolific in television right now than Taylor Sheridan. He’s had one hit after another on Paramount+. The writer of Sicario and Hell or High Water hit it big as the mastermind behind Yellowstone. That was followed up by shows such as 1923, Tulsa King, and Dutton Ranch. Among them is a series headlined by Hollywood heavyweights Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore. Landman premiered on Paramount+ in 2024. After two successful seasons, it’s getting ready for a third. Like HBO’s hit Emmy winner Succession, Landman is a compelling series that centers its focus on the drama of a powerful family. If you have yet to check it out, give it a watch before Season 3 arrives.

What Is ‘Landman’ About?

As Succession is about the power and the conflict it creates between the Roy family, Taylor Sheridan’s Landman finds the same intrigue with the Norris’s. Tommy Norris (Thornton) serves as oil company M-Tex’s crisis manager. Known as a landman, Norris is the go-between between his boss, Monty Miller (Jon Hamm), and landowners in West Texas. It’s his job to calm conflicts and secure deals for M-Tex. Tommy is a man in great pain. He’s besieged by alcoholism and immense debt, and he finds no relief with his family. Tommy is estranged from his father, T.L. Norris (Sam Elliott), is divorced from Angela Norris (Ali Larter), and doesn’t get to see much of his kids.

You are a Dutton — or you might as well be. You understand that some things are worth protecting at any cost, and that the modern world’s indifference to history, to land, to legacy, is not something you’re willing to accept quietly. You lead from the front, you carry your family’s weight without complaint, and when someone threatens what’s yours, you don’t escalate — you finish it. You’re not cruel. But you are absolute. In Yellowstone’s world, that combination of ferocity and loyalty doesn’t make you a villain. It makes you the only thing standing between everything that matters and everyone who wants to take it.

You thrive in the chaos of high-stakes negotiation, where the money is enormous, the margins are thin, and the wrong word in the wrong room can cost everyone everything. You’re a fixer — the person called when a situation is already on fire and needs someone with the nerve to walk into it. West Texas oil country rewards exactly what you are: sharp, adaptable, unsentimental, and absolutely clear-eyed about what people want and what they’ll do to get it. You’re not naive enough to think this world is fair. You’re smart enough to be the one deciding who it’s fair to.

You are a Dwight Manfredi — someone who has served their time, paid their dues, and arrived somewhere unexpected with nothing but their reputation and their wits. You adapt without losing yourself. You build loyalty through respect rather than fear, though you’re not above reminding people that the two aren’t mutually exclusive. Tulsa King is for people who are still standing when everyone assumed they’d be finished — who find, in an unfamiliar place, that they’re more capable than the world gave them credit for. You don’t need a throne. You build one, wherever you happen to land.

You carry the weight of a system that is broken by design, and you do it anyway — because someone has to, and because you’re the only one positioned to do it without the whole thing collapsing. Mike McLusky’s world is for people who are comfortable operating where there are no good options, only less catastrophic ones. You speak every language: law enforcement, criminal, political, human. That fluency makes you invaluable and it makes you a target. You’ve made your peace with both. Mayor of Kingstown belongs to people who understand that keeping the peace is not the same as being at peace — and who do the job regardless.

Tommy Norris doesn’t have some dull desk job. He’s in the thick of it, whether it be dealing with deadly drug cartels or the horrors of oil rigs and the death they can cause if something goes wrong. Throw in the back-and-forth relationship with Angela that won’t die, and Tommy has his hands full. It gets even more complicated in Season 2 of Landman when a shocking twist puts Tommy in a higher position with even more stress when Monty’s wife, Cami Miller (Moore), begins to show off her power. With the corporate and family chaos driven by dark humor, Landman takes what worked in the New York City boardrooms of Succession to the oil fields of Texas.

‘Landman’ Is Carried By Its Impressive Performances

Landman is controversial, but controversy creates intrigue. Taylor Sheridan doesn’t fail to deliver on this point, and his series gets better where it first fails. The most disappointing part of Season 1 was how it didn’t do justice to its female characters. They come across as simple, cookie-cutter tropes who are there to carry the plot for the men. Ali Larter’s Angela Norris doesn’t have a lot to do other than come across as shallow and materialistic, and Demi Moore’s Cami Miller is barely around. This means Season 1 of Landman‘s weight is carried by the men.

Tommy Norris is an anti-hero in the same way that many characters in Succession are. If he was a great guy with no issues, where would the conflict and growth come from? Just ask Jon Hamm how doing the opposite worked out on Mad Men. Tommy does bad things for bad men; still, there is good underneath his actions. He loves his ex-wife dearly, and he wants her and his children, Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) and Cooper (Jacob Lofland), back in his life. He’s a problematic character, but not one who is irredeemable, and Thornton makes him a joy to watch evolve.

Season 2 of Landman only gets better. Tommy Norris remains charming in the most frustrating of ways, and Sam Elliott’s screen time brings more drama to his life. Sheridan improves on his woman problem in Season 2, with the season bringing in Kayla Wallace‘s Rebecca Falcone. Her character is the answer to the questions that come with the ethics of what Tommy and others like him do. Most importantly, Landman‘s second season realizes what they have with Demi Moore. Just as Succession has powerful female characters like Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Gerri (J. Smith Cameron), Landman Season 2 leans into Cami Miller’s storyline. She’s not in the background this time around. Cami is a force to be reckoned with, a character who demands your attention thanks to the Oscar-nominated actor who plays her. Landman isn’t perfect. It embodies some of the best and worst of what Taylor Sheridan has done before. What it never is, though, is boring.
